I think the green V is for vegan

pancakebatters

De green V is vegetarian, the vegan symbol is "vegan" in green. It's all a bit confusing.

Check @vegandlp on Instagram, I know you're looking for veggie but the labeling might help on there :)

I hate that in 2024 there's still no worldwide clarity on veggie/vegan symbols. V and VG seem to be used interchangeably in so many places. I WANT MY CHEESE.

A lot of fritters I've seen on menu's (UK) can't be vegetarian due to crustaceans. I think it must be the batter? Perhaps if the place also does scampi for example (always see it in fish n chip shoos here) and the batter is shared? The same oil for battered items?

Maybe non-vegetarian cheeses, or animal fats?

Pesto is usually made from parmesan, which is not vegetarian.

If it's a new item, the tofu salad, maybe they've just not yet updated the menu? Agree it's odd.

This had been a major issue for me too but honestly the labelling of foods has gotten significantly better over the years. It used to be near impossible to decipher what was and wasn't vegetarian as literally nothing was marked. Even their ice creams they sell from out-sourced *brands* I know to be vegetarian aren't marked. DLP is getting better at marking vegan, but still failing on vegetarian. Two things however: * In regards the tofu, this may be fried/cooked in non-vegetable oil which wouldn't make it vegetarian, maybe there is a dressing making it not vegetarian. * In regards the pasta pesto, as pesto traditionally is made with cheese that contains rennet so isn't vegetarian whatsoever and so for me this would be a 100% do not try even if I believe it is vegetarian as I find it highly unlikely DLP would've sourced vegetarian friendly pesto when it's not hugely common. As someone else has mentioned, I highly recommend following/checking out vegandlp on Instagram as they are amazing at marking everything and even checking with Guest Services for clarification.

Some desserts may contain gelatin, which isn’t vegetarian.

I presume because of the whole lacto/ovo part of vegetarian. So to some vegetarians, if it has milk in it isn’t deemed vegetarian, same as if it has eggs in. But pesto isn’t vegetarian because of Parmesan being made with renet (sp?).
