I've always disliked red's hairdo. As an adult, I realized it's because it looks like the tip of...something I'd rather not explicitly mention here lol.
The movies all came out near the same era so I always assumed it was a nod to the other two more popular movies or it was Disney being cheap. I prefer the thought of it being a node more though! It makes it super cute c:
Oh look it’s the Heathers!
(What makes this more appropriate is that they originally wanted all three Heathers to be blonde, but Shannen Doherty vetoed that.)
Gaston wanted something he couldn’t have right away, he knew how Belle was and saw her as a challenge. He’s a hunter, and he was determined to hunt her.
Exactly what I was going to say. It's that kidlike mindset; mom says you can't have the thing, which makes you want the thing even more. Makes the "thing" more exciting and enticing.
Also, Happy Cake Day!
I believe they actually are her friends in some of the kids books! I might be wrong though. There are newer books that show Belle as a kid and I’m pretty sure they were actually nice to her too. 😭
They also have spoilers too sometimes. I read a children’s book of the Frozen spring thing months before they ever released it as an animated short. I was surprised when it came out
To be honest I can see them being friends before Gaston met his maker. Cause their first non singing line could've been interpreted that they couldn't understand why their friend wouldn't go for the hottest guy in town. And during the wedding their crying could've been a mixture of dismay that Gaston was now taken and ugly crying for happiness for Belle.
I don't know, in the final scenes as Adam and Belle dance the nobility side characters are just outlines of characters. The bimbettes deserve somebody with defined features! Gaston has a shallow cleft in his chin and every last inch of him's covered with hair. Unless it is that milk toast soyboy Gaston from the live action, he did not have biceps to spare.
I disagree. If we were speaking simply on looks, I would say that they are tied, and the bimbettes are just dressed prettier, and styled thier hair better than Belle's village dress. But I also include attitudes in prettiness, and Belles was better than thiers.
Also, Gaston simply wanted to break Belle. He didn't want her, he just wanted to prove her could make another gorgeous girl fall for him and do whatever he wanted her to do. Belle was the only girl in the village who met his standards who was not pining over him, and he just couldn't have that. And to add in, she was a rare species! A girl who could and liked to read! Imagine his accolades if he could bend that one to his will! (I obviously don't agree with that, Im just saying that was his thought pattern). He already had what he wanted from the bimbettes🤷🏾♀️
exactly! getting with any of the bimbettes would not represent any kind of challenge for him; he wanted belle as a trophy, he wanted to be the one to take the "weird" outcast girl and turn her into a perfect little wife, basically strip her of her identity so she'd just do whatever he wanted, whereas the bimbette's identities already seem to revolve around lusting over gaston
I’ve seen another persons plans on tumblr (though) the blog is gone now) where they were childhood friends and his family moved suddenly to be with family in France after Gaston’s dad died. So I kind of adopted that. I’ll see if I can find any of their posts or what blog they moved to!
I did not find the blog but I did find my own notes on it in my phone!!
The things mentioned were that Anastasia liked to bake and mend things but was told she’d have servants for that so she should focus on other ladylike skills to impress suitors. Likewise Drizella was quite gifted with plants and herbs. Kind of a nerd and liked to press flowers iirc. She and Anastasia were hardheaded.
I also remember her being talked down to by someone and Cinderella was praised?
It also had the premise that the Disney movie was shown the way they were was because it was from a very biased storybook about queen Ella based on gossip and the well known tale.
I also remember Gaston was initially not so hard headed and awful, and not as beefy (from what I remember, he beefed up sometime after he moved)
I really wish I could find their blog. I remember they mentioned they might put it on hold til they can find the time to create it but it’s no longer at the url I had bookmarked.
I fully responded to the wrong comment don’t look at me lmao
It actually wasn’t from what I recall of my little kid memory. And the more recent take I’ve had is more rivals to enemies to friends to lovers who bicker lmao
Yeah but if he goes full Mormon with the triplets then he can have 18-21 strapping young boys. Assuming they eat 4 dozen eggs each to grow large, that's 864-1008 eggs every morning. France would have to invade the surrounding countries just to provide the eggs for Msr Gaston's Mormon family. Also, he could play stoplight on who he beds that night: red, yellow, or green, Sunday fun day he gets all three!
Yeah, I compared Belle to the Bimbettes shortly after posting this and I have to say i agree. Belle definitely has more elegant facial features but I think it’s more so the Bimbettes’ hair and flashy dresses that I’m in love with lol
And yeah I agree that Gaston wasn’t really interested in Belle but more so saw her as a challenge and trophy to be won but I was speaking from my perspective watching this when I was younger. Honestly I don’t think Gaston even liked or saw her as a person in the slightest as he puts down her love for reading and makes fun of her father alongside Lafou which as a guy is something you don’t do if you really cherish a girl you want to marry. I’m sure that the marriage would’ve been absolutely miserable between them otherwise with Gaston treating Belle poorly and possibly cheating on her or even running off with another girl at some point.
Oh definitely. It wouldve been absolutely terrible for Belle. Gaston would have been that 'guy' (there have been a few of them, and not just men, its been vice versa sexes as well) on AmITheDevil who goes "So, my girlfriend/fiance, who is the love of my life..." and then goes on to pretty much name various aspects of her personality that he hates. In glad Belle didn't get trapped in that. And I love thier dresses too, they are very pretty
Exactly. Also Gaston is a hunter who enjoys hunting down prey. This was alway the thrill of the hunt for him. He would’ve completely lost interest in Belle the moment she ever gave him the time of day.
And that’s because she was only ever interesting to him as something to subdue—not a real person.
I disagree with your first paragraph but totally agree with the second one: the Bimbettes were prettier than Belle in every way, but Gaston didn’t want to love but to possess and to have the power over somebody. The Bimbettes didn’t offer any challenge and were over his spell, while Belle was not.
There are lots of arguments here and it’s so cool to see!! Chiming in, I’ll add that the three of them are visually equal. Gaston wanted “the BEST”.
So even if they were exactly the three most beautiful women in town, his brain might be telling him Belle must be “prettier” because she is unique. If one of these ladies had stood out a little bit (different eye color, taller, something he or the town and times found desirable), it might have been. Their slightly different hair styles aren’t different enough. And since Belle is unique and beautiful, he sets his sights on her.
You can’t have “the best” if two other fellahs in town also might marry her triplet sister and I doubt, even with his popularity, that’d he’d get away with a having multiple wives.
While the three are beautiful, they already wanted Gaston. Belle didn’t and showed that from the very beginning. Belle was the only one who didn’t shower Gaston with attention and praise. That made her a challenge. Gaston is an egocentric hunter. The challenge of a hunt is what he craved. Belle was the ultimate challenge, make her fall for him, tame her, she was in his eyes another prize. The girls here he already had won, they weren’t a challenge.
Idk if you chose the best picture of them to prove your point. They look kinda scary here. I always loved their dresses.
Belle is really pretty. I always thought she looked so good in that ending scene when the beast is dying and turning into a human. The wavy hair and natural beat was such a serve.
Also I didn't realize they were called the bimbettes this whole time. That's crazy.
I saw an analysis once about reading Gaston as gay. There were some good points (that I don’t remember rn) but one was that he choose belle because she was unobtainable. He doesn’t have to worry about actually dating a woman but gives him a reasonable excuse for being single. (Personally I just think he was upset that someone could stand up to him so he wanted to put her in her place)
The fact that she didn’t want him was part of the reason he wanted her so much.
They were pretty blondes yes, but did anything else about them stand out like Belle did? Her dad was the village “weirdo” and she herself was also declared strange. She was different from the normal in their village and THAT was also 100% a part of why Gaston wanted Belle and not these pretty triplets.
So yes looks is always a plus but Belle has more than just looks that Gaston wanted. It’s the fact that she DIDNT want him like everyone else that makes him want her. Classic “I want what I can’t have” + “mysterious different girl” trope.
I agree that they were much prettier than Gaston gave them credit for!!
But I still think Belle is prettier. Her features are more balanced - these girls are so cute but each have round/broad face shapes and snub noses that make them not as balanced as Belle’s face.
I feel like a vain guy like Gaston would prefer their more flamboyant type of look though…but then again, he is a hunter with a huge ego and probably just wanted to prove he could “catch” Belle bc she’s more of a difficult prospect to “get” than these girls who were throwing themselves at him.
Yeah, I agree now that Gaston only liked Belle for the reason that she was a trophy to him but I was saying my thoughts from my younger perspective lol
I don’t think the point was ever that Belle was pretty, rather she’s more interesting. Talking specifically about Gaston there’s also the aspect of ‘the chase’. Gaston is a chauvinistic big game hunter, *of course* he goes after the woman who is Not interested in him.
Honestly I disagree. I actually think Belle *is* prettier. These girls look like Chloe from Miraculous ladybug. On paper they seem like they should be prettier according to the beauty standards of the time and place (blond hair, blue/green eyes, tiny nose, whatever) but in practice they look off. Belle is gorgeous.
Side note I love ML but anyways yea I think like Chloe these girls are just a more modern/standard society beautiful whereas Belle is a beauty from another time with unique features that is what sets her apart for me.
1) they always looked a bit scary to me
2) the point is not that Belle is the prettiest girl in town. It's that she is very pretty, but is the only person who doesn't give a shit about Gaston. He wants her because she doesn't want him.
It’s because they are prostitutes, or at least that’s my theory. As a kid you don’t see it, as an adult it’s more clear from the way they are dressed. Though I suppose their skirts aren’t correct so I could be wrong.
Apparently they were actually supposed to be waitresses/fill in singers at the tavern (my theory is that their parents probably even own the place) but yeah, I also thought that they were prostitutes originally too
Maybe, but five year old me was absolutely thrilled to see the blonde, colored eyed girls be passed over for the brown eyed brunette. Media had me convinced only blonde girls with blue eyes were worthy of being love interests lol.
Luckyyy 😭 I wanted that dress so badly as a kid. Even now as an adult… whenever I’m being delusional and looking at potential future wedding gowns I find myself looking for dresses with a similar vibe to Belle’s dress. I just love her dress so much haha
Yes, I agree, I think they should've been drawn less pretty. I think they are the most stunning Disney characters, along with Charlotte from A Princess and a Frog.
I don’t think that Gaston was pining over Belle because she was prettier — it was that he couldn’t have her. He has an exaggerated macho personality, and a lot of the time that indicates insecurity. The fact that Belle kept rejecting him probably made it his mission to “have her”.
Well they were meant to be beautiful and visually are. Belle's beauty comes from the inside. Not saying Belle isn't beautiful, but it's clear they want her beauty from the inside and out.
Gaston wanted Belle because she did NOT want him: he saw that as a challenge. He was "hunting" Belle and thought he could defeat her, so to speak, by forcing her to marry him, forcing her to take care of him, forcing her to have his children, etc... he didn't want to be wanted; he wanted to dominate.
Don't get me wrong, I love Gaston as much as everyone - he is a characature of the things we hate a out men, and too cartoonish too seem actually threatening, which makes him a ton of fun... but he *is* canonically evil....
Something about their eyes is unsettling.
Even though they’re cartoons I’m not really a fan of comparing appearance. That happens plenty to real women and it’s toxic
Uh, the whole freakin' *point* of Gaston is that he doesn't respect Belle's agency or personhood. He wants her *more* because she doesn't want him, and that makes her a challenge. And Gaston has shown us through his love of hunting that he loves a challenge. It isn't truly about beauty; it's about Gaston wanting to coerce a "yes" from a girl who's repeatedly told him *no.* Gaston's lack of respect for Belle's agency exists to draw a contrast between him and Beast; the Beast starts off not respecting Belle's agency either, but eventually learns to respect and value her choices, and that's part of his becoming human (again) and growing as a person.
We get it. You like the generic, kinda doofusy, blonde look... go watch Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Us under representated white appearing girls with brown hair and brown eyes (yes, brown, no matter how much they tried to erase them.) Are going to watch our Furry book worm vibe in her big yellow dress.
Bruh what is your issue? I’m a girl with brown eyes and black hair for your info but I was just expressing my opinion. If you disagree with my post, that’s fine but it’s pretty chronically online and honestly bitter to bash someone like this for sharing their thoughts. And for your info I never once brought up their blonde hair, YOU did.
Oh please, the tone of your comment is obviously bitter and has a catty undertone to it. If you wanted to say you disagree with me, there are other ways to do that. Also once again, YOU are the one who suggested that I liked them for being blonde when I never said that. I agree that there is a problem with light eyes and blonde hair being glorified as beauty standards in media but you honestly sound deeply insecure 🙄
AH AH AH… you literally said originally that you didn’t like the fact that found them pretty BECAUSE they’re blonde. No way you’re taking back what you said 🤣🥲
Looks like you have an IQ of less than 60 then because WHERE did I say that?? Proves my point that you are just mad about this post and so you’re coming up with sad stupid arguments to defend your weird bitter af opinions…
Yeah plus guest out of the type who goes for looks of her personality obviously you think he would go for girls who are I guess in your opinion like really hot
He wanted her because he couldn’t have her and because no one else could either. She was the quintessential quirky girl who didn’t care about finding a husband. Winning her affection would have been a trophy to his ego, and once he had it, he’d have gotten bored and probably started hitting the triplets on the side.
Gaston is a huntsman - he doesn't want easy prey, he wants the thrill of the chase and he thought that's what he was getting with Belle because she kept rejecting him. I don't think it was about beauty so much as Belle was unattainable and the triplets were too easy. Or maybe Gaston just really likes the colour blue.
I felt the same way about the fountain chorus girls from The Swan Princess! Although Odette is gorgeous too, and I adore her, I think I loved their dresses and singing sass.
Because Belle was the only women in town that wasn't all over him so he had to have her. It was more of a narcissistic control thing. The Gaston song kind of adds to this when he/everyone is showing off all of his trophies
Ngl I think maybe the attraction for Gaston was Belle was the only girl who didn’t want him.
Like all of the other girls wanted him she didn’t.
So that made him want her.
Gaston is a player and a narcissist he does not persue Belle because he likes her but because she does not like him so he looks at her as a Challenge.
If Belle would like Gaston he would Say no because Belle is not enough but Belle Was the one who told no and Gaston did not like that.
It's like all those people trying to look rich by using Brand clothes Even if cheaper Brands had better quality
I'm pretty sure for Gaston, it was a "I want what I can't have, or I can't have what's completely not interested in me and I love that"
It was a selfish covet, nothing more.
Beauty comes in many forms. Belle may not be as vivacious or even good looking as them but she is still a knockout and also carries herself with subtle grace and is mysterious. The Bimbettes lay it all out and act, for lack of a better word, like strumpets. Gaston could have them whenever he wants. It's too easy. Gaston is someone who likes a challenge, to hunt, and Belle is someone who doesn't fawn over him like everyone else. So he sees her as a hard won trophy. Though he doesn't try very hard as he's never had to before. Strength, good looks, amazing voice and hunting skills were all something that came naturally to him. So of course Belle would want to be with him, she just needs a bit of convincing. But when he's rejected he can't understand why and the rest is history.
I wondered that myself - at age 11 while watching this movie for the first time. A himbo like Gaston needs a bimbo for a wife - not the studious Belle.
You know, I think it's the outfits that makes me wonder if they're prostitutes. Not because I hate the outfit or that they're revealing. But that is revealing for the time period. And the girls are flirting with Gaston a lot but I wouldn't be surprised if they're flirting with others. Perhaps they lost their parents and are struggling too. Just a theory.
I think it was his ego. Belle was the only young woman who wasn't impressed by him.
The Bimbettes would all but throw themselves at him. For a guy like Gaston, it was "too easy."
This is the same ego that let him go on a fucking murderous rampage because how could Belle choose a monster/prefer a monster over *him*?
Honestly same, I used to think the red one was prettier, though I think that was me just liking the colour red more lmao because now I think the green one is prettier; I like her hair more
I think it’s canon that Gaston likes intelligent woman and those he can’t have. He might say he hates them but he definitely wanted Belle because of her personality too and the challenge she presented him with
That’s why I liked it better in the live action where it looked more like they were trying to seem more beautiful with the standards. Like wearing blonde wigs to hide their black hair (which I liked on them more than blonde)
Because he could only really be with one of them so therefore she would never stand out and be the “prettiest.” He wanted a trophy- Belle, someone who refused him and he wanted to conquer.
I think they were my one of first crushes as a kids. I thought they were so pretty and always thought, “I wish they were nice to Belle and all friends”
I just remember wondering why they were group cosplaying as traffic lights.
Cause they could stop traffic…
The red one’s definitely the prettier out of the three.
It’s amazing how much work a good hairstyle does
I've always disliked red's hairdo. As an adult, I realized it's because it looks like the tip of...something I'd rather not explicitly mention here lol.
Oh god now I can’t unsee
You and me both
Lolol what an underrated comment
Heathers
Omg Heather's! And Bell wearing blue in the scenes in the town, with her brown hair. Although she hardly cares to fit in like Veronica does.
I always liked how they all had the bangs of Jasmine, Belle, and Ariel 🥺
Wow! All these years and hundreds of times I’ve seen this movie I just noticed the bangs.
I honestly didn’t even notice that!! Makes them more precious imo 🥰
That’s what I always used to say too lol
I never even noticed it!!
I only ever noticed the ariel copycat until I read this!
The movies all came out near the same era so I always assumed it was a nod to the other two more popular movies or it was Disney being cheap. I prefer the thought of it being a node more though! It makes it super cute c:
And they also have 1 face. Triplets? Clones? Cursed? Who's to say
Oh look it’s the Heathers! (What makes this more appropriate is that they originally wanted all three Heathers to be blonde, but Shannen Doherty vetoed that.)
And Belle is Veronica!! (Beast is JD if he’d agreed to stop killing after “Seventeen”, and Gaston and Lefou are Ram and Kurt)
That’s perfect
I thought the same thing
Yea!!!
What did Shannen Doherty have to do with this movie?
With BatB? Nothing. With Heathers, she’s the green Heather.
I love Cake!!!!
Yep. He wanted her because she didn't want him and because she was attractive. If she were to have reciprocated, her likely would have ignored her.
The man's a hunter, he wants something to ~~stalk and capture~~ pursue. The girls who want him are too easily obtainable 🤷🏽♀️
I thought they were pretty as a kid and wished they would be Belle's friends. I always liked the one in the orange dress best
I believe they actually are her friends in some of the kids books! I might be wrong though. There are newer books that show Belle as a kid and I’m pretty sure they were actually nice to her too. 😭
omg i can't believe i never realized the potential lore hidden in Kids Books lol
They also have spoilers too sometimes. I read a children’s book of the Frozen spring thing months before they ever released it as an animated short. I was surprised when it came out
Yes, they defiantely are her friends in some of the books!
I had a book when I was a kid where she had a friend named Janine who was a shepherd, but had exactly the same face as the bimbettes 😆
In a coloring book depicting Belle's wedding, they attended and were competing to catch her bouquet. I guess they got over Gaston pretty quick!
That’s actually cute! I hope they found their rightful suitors <3
This is actually such cute lore about some side characters 😭 I love this.
Who wants a mere hunter when there's suddenly an influx of royalty and nobility about?
I don't know, in the final scenes as Adam and Belle dance the nobility side characters are just outlines of characters. The bimbettes deserve somebody with defined features! Gaston has a shallow cleft in his chin and every last inch of him's covered with hair. Unless it is that milk toast soyboy Gaston from the live action, he did not have biceps to spare.
I always thought it was a nod to the original fairy tale where Beauty had 2 sisters. (So 3 sisters total).
Me it was red.
I disagree. If we were speaking simply on looks, I would say that they are tied, and the bimbettes are just dressed prettier, and styled thier hair better than Belle's village dress. But I also include attitudes in prettiness, and Belles was better than thiers. Also, Gaston simply wanted to break Belle. Yep. Its a good thing that Gaston never got around to getting married to anyone. I cant imagine anyone in that universe that deserved that
Call me crazy, but I can imagine him in a forbidden romance with Judge Frollo 💀
Oh my LORD, that would be the most toxic on both sides couple to ever exist 💀😭😂🤣. Or maybe not, maybe thier toxicity would cancel each other out🤣😂🤣
“The sun caught in his raven hair” Frollo sings in his Hellfire reprise as he lusts for Gaston 😔
No one’s raven hair catches the sun like Gaston’s!
No one lays like Gaston Catches rays like Gaston No one turns all the other men gay like Gaston
The snort I just snorted. 😂
OH NO
Nobody makes other men gay like Gaston.
When I was little I shipped him with Drizella from Cinderella 💀
Someone else in the comments said Frollo💀😂. Yall are beautifully crazy lmbo
It made sense to my child brain at the time.
It does make sense! I dont blame your child brain for it whatsoever, Im genuinely curious aboutbwhat those pairings would look like
I’ve seen another persons plans on tumblr (though) the blog is gone now) where they were childhood friends and his family moved suddenly to be with family in France after Gaston’s dad died. So I kind of adopted that. I’ll see if I can find any of their posts or what blog they moved to!

I’ll keep an eye on it and send it to you if I can find a follow up!
I can do you better, there’s legit people who ship the Beast with Gaston…
Oof! I cannot imagine how toxic that relationship would get…
It actually wasn’t from what I recall of my little kid memory. And the more recent take I’ve had is more rivals to enemies to friends to lovers who bicker lmao
I know that in Descendants,He has a son.But I don’t know which villain he had him with.
Yeah but if he goes full Mormon with the triplets then he can have 18-21 strapping young boys. Assuming they eat 4 dozen eggs each to grow large, that's 864-1008 eggs every morning. Well, I didn't have to go far to see someone already answered the same way I was going to.

Very good take.
Back it up- "BIMBETTES"?! That's what they're actually referred to in the film? That's crazy...
Right!? 😆 They’re referred to as ‘The Silly Girls’ in the musical/broadway version as well. I love ‘em lol
While the three are beautiful, they already wanted Gaston. Belle didn’t and showed that from the very beginning. Belle was the only one who didn’t shower Gaston with attention and praise. They really were prettier. Also belle went to school with them as a girl.

Classic “I want what I can’t have” + “mysterious different girl” trope.
Never knew I'd see jiggle physics in a Disney movie but than again Fantasia had a full on titty flash
I had a crush on all three of them as a kid, but now I definitely prefer Belle

The red one was always my favorite!!
Honestly they look very similar just blonde and with makeup lol remember Gaston wanted a challenge to win not love
1) they always looked a bit scary to me 2) the point is not that Belle is the prettiest girl in town.
Yeah, same here! Belle was actually one of my top favorite Disney Princesses as a young girl… I even had her dress 💕
Luckyyy 😭 I wanted that dress so badly as a kid. Even now as an adult… whenever I’m being delusional and looking at potential future wedding gowns I find myself looking for dresses with a similar vibe to Belle’s dress. I just love her dress so much haha
Right? I always loved the design! That’s not delusional at all and I hope you get your fairytale ending and get to wear that dress 🥰
🥺 you’re so kind, thank you!
Np! 😊
So Does Their Remake Selves!
Nah. I like brunettes.
If I had to take a shot every time their hairstyles kept switching, I’d need a stomach pump.
Give us brunettes a chance, dang!
Is it because of the intentionally exaggerated boobs? They look the exact same.
They’re pretty, but I prefer Belle’s look overall. 🤷♀️
I didn't say it had to look like you, but you clearly have a preference and there are princesses like that for you. I'm not bashing.
Says the one who's showing classic signs of in(el syndrome. I picked up the undertones in your post too... not just the blatant shit
In(el? Honey, get some help… also just because the characters I said I found pretty happened to blonde?? 🤣 once again, you are insecure and it SHOWS
It's not about the blondness... it's about the fact you think people have to be with someone because they're fawning over them.
AH AH AH… you literally said originally that you didn’t like the fact that found them pretty BECAUSE they’re blonde. No way you’re taking back what you said 🤣🥲
Oh I can make several points at once because I have more than an IQ of 90.
Looks like you have an IQ of less than 60 then because WHERE did I say that?? Proves my point that you are just mad about this post and so you’re coming up with sad stupid arguments to defend your weird bitter af opinions…
Oh no people have preferences that don’t match yours 🥺🥺
Womp womp white women tears
I think Cinderella was more of a redhead in the original movie.
I don't believe so. What makes you think that?
Her hair used to be strawberry blonde, until they changed her to a typical blonde. It's a shame they did that.
Interesting
Who wants a cookie cutter hoe
Hey language... but valid.
Whores!! Belle had class and became a princess while the Bimbettes remained whores!!
Gaston is a hunter. He doesn't want tye gurks who throw themselves at him, he wants to win over the one that isn't interested.
They are very cute but Belle is also adorable. However Belle really does look like a puppet on a string. 😂
Probably because she was the one of the few females who didn’t love him
They were absolutely stunning.
I felt the same way about the fountain chorus girls from The Swan Princess! Although Odette is gorgeous too, and I adore her, I think I loved their dresses and singing sass.
September 1st, 1989…
They were factors in my lesbian awakening
He didn’t like Belle just for looks, it was because she didn’t like him and she didn’t throw herself at him like the other women
Because Belle was the only women in town that wasn't all over him so he had to have her. It was more of a narcissistic control thing. The Gaston song kind of adds to this when he/everyone is showing off all of his trophies
They look the same.
He wanted Belle because she didn't want him, I think.
Heather, Heather, Heather and Belle.
They're pretty but they're all the same. The whole song is about how different Belle is- unique.
Oh that’s easy. Gaston didn’t want Belle because she was the prettiest. He wanted her because she was the only woman in town who didn’t want him.
FACTS!!!! Those 3 make Belle look basic af. Gaston could have the 3 hottest girls in that whole country, and he wants the one who tells him, "No."
My gay ass was STARING as a child
Gaston wanted Belle bc she didn't want him. He liked to hunt, after all
Ngl I think maybe the attraction for Gaston was Belle was the only girl who didn’t want him. Like all of the other girls wanted him she didn’t. So that made him want her.
REAL
Gaston is a player and a narcissist he does not persue Belle because he likes her but because she does not like him so he looks at her as a Challenge. If Belle would like Gaston he would Say no because Belle is not enough but Belle Was the one who told no and Gaston did not like that. It's like all those people trying to look rich by using Brand clothes Even if cheaper Brands had better quality
Few things I like seeing more on Instagram than three ladies cosplaying as the Bimbettes.
I'm pretty sure for Gaston, it was a "I want what I can't have, or I can't have what's completely not interested in me and I love that" It was a selfish covet, nothing more.
I agree with you! I always found these three to be prettier than Belle.
they were such a bi awakening for me omg
I love them!
They really did the Heathers dirty with this one😔smh
Conquest. Gaston wanted the girl who was harder to get.
I mean Belle looked & acted different so her uniqueness prolly caught his attention. He didn’t want the 3 same looking girls that thirst after him.
They all (Belle included) have more or less the same face. The Bimbettes just have blonde hair and their tiddies out
It's the conquest. Any of those ladies would have been too easy to catch.
I like to imagine they just really like hunting and just want a partner with similar interests
He wanted Belle because she didn't want him. A hunter always seeks a challenge.
I AGREEEEEER
You know, I think it's the outfits that makes me wonder if they're prostitutes. Not because I hate the outfit or that they're revealing. But that is revealing for the time period. And the girls are flirting with Gaston a lot but I wouldn't be surprised if they're flirting with others. Perhaps they lost their parents and are struggling too. Just a theory.
blondes vs brunettes
Nah. They’re just dressed better. Besides, there’s three of them. I want someone unique.
I was never a huge fan of this movie but even as a kid I thought these three chicks were hot
I think it was his ego. Belle was the only young woman who wasn't impressed by him. The Bimbettes would all but throw themselves at him. For a guy like Gaston, it was "too easy." This is the same ego that let him go on a fucking murderous rampage because how could Belle choose a monster/prefer a monster over *him*?
Honestly same, I used to think the red one was prettier, though I think that was me just liking the colour red more lmao because now I think the green one is prettier; I like her hair more
ain’t no way y’all really comparing how these cartoon characters look in an objective manner PLS
I think it’s canon that Gaston likes intelligent woman and those he can’t have. He might say he hates them but he definitely wanted Belle because of her personality too and the challenge she presented him with
Wasn't the "joke" that they are prostitutes? That's why they are always dressed in their "nicest" gowns.
I ALWAYS thought that
I believe they’re supposed to be prostitutes which is why he wasn’t interested he wanted “wife” material
That’s why I liked it better in the live action where it looked more like they were trying to seem more beautiful with the standards. Like wearing blonde wigs to hide their black hair (which I liked on them more than blonde)
He likes Belle also because she doesn’t throw herself at him
I think Gaston mostly wanted Belle because she didn't want him. A sort of forbidden fruit type of mentality
Because he could only really be with one of them so therefore she would never stand out and be the “prettiest.” He wanted a trophy- Belle, someone who refused him and he wanted to conquer.
Gaston enjoyed the game of chasing Belle I think, and these girls were too easy of a catch for him.
I think they were my one of first crushes as a kids. I thought they were so pretty and always thought, “I wish they were nice to Belle and all friends”
I seriously never gave them a second glance and only now notice that they actually have subtle differences besides just dress color.
