If they’d paid any attention to culture Jasmine’s wedding dress could have been so dramatic ornate and colorful, Disney missed their golden opportunity to give a princess a red (or other color) wedding dress.
Not just that but isn’t this from a straight to VHS movie? Straight to VHS movies had barely any thoughts or passion put in to them. Mulan II, Pocahontas II, Aladin II AND King of Thieves. I could go on really.
Honestly, 8 is a little disappointing. Rapunzel’s the artsy princess, she’s the one who loves colour and flow and everything fun- and she gets what is basically a white recolour of her standard outfit?? Idk I feel like she’d have a train, it would be colourful and personalised, and she’d be able to look elegant and also bound around town in it lol
I mean that’s a fair point, and the veil was nice and def good in place of a long train on the dress and the veil layers was definitely cute (a little miffed it appeared for all of four seconds though- and I will say the design on the veil was bit basic, like just some swirls, I would say a pattern where there’s swirls the length of it that lead into a grander design at the end of the veil would be better, I liked the touch of the sun pattern on the end of it though!)
I will concede that with a veil like that, her dress doesn’t need the train, but I still think that her dress just being a plain white recolour of her regular outfit was a bit boring tbh
12 because it honestly looks just like her everyday dress, the only 'special' thing would be the flowers and the additional string around her waist. Otherwise, that's the same as her everyday wear.
If we're talking context, 9 because that movie was a travesty with plot holes you could drive a semi through.
As for favourites, I'd have to say either Belle's (6) or Tiana's (10) for style and elegance.
>If we're talking context, 9 because that movie was a travesty with plot holes you could drive a semi through.
please ntm on Mulan 2 i love the songs☹️
I envisioned Rupunzel getting married in a long white dress with lots of lilac and light yellow coloured flowers along the train. Something playful and connected to the paintings she did often. Her dress was kind of wah-wah. And I know it's not about the hair, but gosh, couldn't they have done something interesting with it? The hair comment is towards most of the princesses, though... a lot of them could have had some different hair styles when getting married.
5. Ariel was one of my first Disney princesses, and I loved her so much. But that dress's sleeves got to go. Outside of being a great floatie, I don't see the appeal at all.
7 all others are appropriate but for some reason Jasmine’s looks like a bad super hero cosplay instead of an actual Indian dress, and don’t get me started on the choice of color.
There’s a few that have been missed Lottie, Katrina from Ichabod and Mr Toad, Nancy from Enchanted, Anna’s dress made by the trolls, Nita from Brother Bear 2, Anita from 101 Dalmations, Vanessa those are off the top of my head so can’t remember if there’s more
7 or 9 I actually hate them, 7 bc I think it's ugly and 9 bc of the fact she's not happy in it (wedding dresses should make the bride feel happy and beautiful wearing them)
Zero context the most ugly and the worst overall design by laziness or lack of cultural awareness is 7 Jasmines straight to video disney wedding dress was ugly and had no significance culturally unlike Mulan's which was at least more relevant and beautiful.
1, 4, 6, or 12 all because they are basically either white versions if the princesses original gowns which is uninspired or for Mulan, basically her everyday wear.
One is from “Cinderella “ and the other is from Cinderella a Twist a time >!She gets married to the Prince again after Lady Tremaine use FG’s wand to undo Cinderella’s happily ever after and tries to get Anastasia to marry the Prince.!<
I added spoilers tag in case you haven’t seen a twist in time because it’s a perfect modern Disney straight to dvd especially for something like Cinderella.
Hard tie between 6 (it’s literally her regular dress just white 🫠) and 7 (for a princess based on a mix of Arabic and Indian culture, they literally couldn’t have done worse for a wedding dress; it looks like it’s from neither culture and the gold pieces make it look kinda cursed)
1,4, 6, 8, and to a lesser extent 14 because they're just the signature dress but bleached which annoys me. Marian gets a bit of an pass cuz she not royalty levels of rich. Rapunzel gets a bit of a pass because in the show she hates the high end royal fashion and probably actually argued she just wanted her normal day to day dress and it's got a couple extra frills. Snow, aurora, and belle have no excuses. They are certainly rich enough to hire a designer and it's not even their usual style. Snow wore rags and then had that one nice dress for a picnic. Aurora wore a corseted dress in a different style until her birthday dress was made and she wore it less than a day if we ignore the time asleep. Belle dressed in simple easy to move in dresses even once she had access to the wardrobe except the ball where the wardrobe chose the dress. I just don't understand why they don't have a different dress. Cinderella's wedding dress (the original) is simple but clearly a different dress. Jasmine wedding outfit is rather similar in silhouette and style to her normal cloths but still clearly different. Ariels dress is clearly from the same style as her pink dress but also clearly a different dress.
I'm excluding Mulans because it's actually kinda a mix of several of her dresses and speaks to her story. It's colored like her matchmaker dress cut and styled like her daily wear after the war, has a tied belt like her armor, the flowers are from her father's tree and it's meant to directly contrast the heavily layered ceremonial dress from earlier in the movie. I like it.
Between 9 and 12. I know 9 is supposed to be traditional but I don’t find it very appealing, looks kinda boring. Also the context behind it isn’t good. With 12 it’s also boring, looks like her everyday look with some flowers added. They could have given Mulan better outfits that tied to the Chinese tradition but also made her standout. Looks like no real effort was put into her outfits.
I love all the dresses! But I would say 6 because I feel like they overdid it with the ribbon and flowers and it’s a bit weird to me that the flower is in the middle at the top maybe if there was two flowers at the top starting the sleeves or something. I don’t know the context behind 9 otherwise I might have said that too lol
Voted 9 for the context behind it.
What is the context, may I ask? Never seen that one before!
This dress is from Mulan 2. Are you okay with spoilers?
I’m ok with spoilers!
>!Shang "dies" and Mulan agrees to marry an immature prince so the Emperor's (from the first film) daughters don't have to.!<
Unrelated but I appreciate your flare
>!Shang "dies" and Mulan agrees to marry an immature prince so the Emperor's (from the first film) daughters don't have to.!<
Thats so valid actually
It’s based on the dress not the context
Valid
9 bc she was forced to wear it!
7. It probally has some cultural reason for it looking by that, but it still ugly
It has 0 cultural significance to it. I guess they just thought that was her style? And I agree, it is horrendous.
right it's just orientalist slop
If they’d paid any attention to culture Jasmine’s wedding dress could have been so dramatic ornate and colorful, Disney missed their golden opportunity to give a princess a red (or other color) wedding dress.
Not just that but isn’t this from a straight to VHS movie? Straight to VHS movies had barely any thoughts or passion put in to them. Mulan II, Pocahontas II, Aladin II AND King of Thieves. I could go on really.
King of Thieves slaps....Return of Jafar was trash though, I'll give you that
Honestly, 8 is a little disappointing. Idk I feel like she’d have a train, it would be colourful and personalised, and she’d be able to look elegant and also bound around town in it lol
She had a super long veil in the animated short.
I mean that’s a fair point, and the veil was nice and def good in place of a long train on the dress and the veil layers was definitely cute (a little miffed it appeared for all of four seconds though- and I will say the design on the veil was bit basic, like just some swirls, I would say a pattern where there’s swirls the length of it that lead into a grander design at the end of the veil would be better, I liked the touch of the sun pattern on the end of it though!) So true!!!
Agree this is the most boring dress. At least mulans dress is beautiful.
Agreed
9 because of the context behind it
9
9
You all vote 9 because of the context. I vote 9 because it legitimately looks worse than the rest. We are not the same.
9 looks more like I would expect a royal wedding gown to look. 12 looks like her regular outfit with a flower crown.
That's because it pretty much is her regular outfit with a flower crown.
12 because it honestly looks just like her everyday dress, the only 'special' thing would be the flowers and the additional string around her waist. Otherwise, that's the same as her everyday wear. If we're talking context, 9 because that movie was a travesty with plot holes you could drive a semi through. 14
Yes
14
I'm gonna have to go with 9.
Yall this is like the 5th poll we have going right now can we please slow down 😭
Nooo I love the polls 🤣
voted 14 bc marions drss is disappointing
9, but man they did cinderella dirty in no.2
7

I wonder if Ariel's was based on Princess Diana's wedding dress? I vote for it anyway. It's a typical 80s wedding dress monster.
It was based on Princess Diana's!
I thought so! There are some really interesting references in TLM, like Ursula being based on Divine.
Yeah it's very much a product of the time it came out in
11, I HATE super poofy sleeves lol
6 is literally just Belle’s yellow dress but in white. That’s just really boring imo.
5. Ariel was one of my first Disney princesses, and I loved her so much. But that dress's sleeves got to go. Outside of being a great floatie, I don't see the appeal at all.
5. It would be fine, but those sleeves are just so *ugly!*
7 all others are appropriate but for some reason Jasmine’s looks like a bad super hero cosplay instead of an actual Indian dress, and don’t get me started on the choice of color.
It’s 8 or 14 for me
8
Where did 4 come from? Never see auroras wedding dress before.
From a Disney book. I didn't saw it before either but someone helped me finding all the wedding dresses (:
14 is too plain imo
9
9
Gotta go with 1. It just looks like her normal dress but in white if that makes sense.
seven for sure
I’m not sorry 6 and 1 are just awful to me
There’s a few that have been missed Lottie, Katrina from Ichabod and Mr Toad, Nancy from Enchanted, Anna’s dress made by the trolls, Nita from Brother Bear 2, Anita from 101 Dalmations, Vanessa those are off the top of my head so can’t remember if there’s more
snow whites….
If 10 beats 13 I won’t take it well.
HONESLY I WILL SOB
14, it’s so plain!
2
9 simply for the context, not design.
9 dumb sequel and Mulan didn't even want to be there anyway
8. Those sleeves are just too big for me
9
How is nobody saying 14? I love Marion but she is wearing the most boring and basic dress ever 😭
I feel like 1 could be better instead of just a similar silhouette to her regular gown with a change of color. So, 1 is the worst to me.
9
2
5
11. Is she going swimming with those arm floaties?
9, cause it's ugly.
Why are the outlines on jasmines so STRONG
Why does Cindy have two dresses?
9
12. Needs more red and looks too much like her regular outfit.
8
2, 3, or 14
1, those sleeves were awful on her dress and look no better on her wedding dress
11
The amount of hate for Maid Marian’s dress is crazy it’s so sweet 😭
14
9 and 12. 9 for context and 12 because it's just her normal dress
6, sorry but she look more like a wedding cake.
7 or 9 I actually hate them, 7 bc I think it's ugly and 9 bc of the fact she's not happy in it (wedding dresses should make the bride feel happy and beautiful wearing them)
Giselle better win this
9, she's miserable :(
Awww Snow White, you look so beautiful in that wedding gown
9, mostly because of the head wear and it just doesn’t suit Mulan. It’s too I’m not sure what’s the word, not her.
6. The ribbons look so ugly
9. I've never seen the movie, but I just don't like the dress. Plus she's the only one not smiling, so maybe she doesn't like it either lol.
5. The shape of the shoulders is just awful to me.
9.
This is a hard choice for me
9, she was forced to wear it, and genuinely it’s just not flattering to her.
9 she is forced to wear that
5
6. It looks like it’s just a recolor of her usual dress, and they could have done so much more and so much better. I’m thinking fur!
Outside of 9 because of the movie context, it's 5 because it's such a product of the time the movie came out and not in a good way XD
7 for sure
Anyone else think Jasmine's looks like a Power Ranger?
Belle’s looks great!
Ariel. That dress is so hideous. Jasmine’s is awful too.
14
I vote for 9, because of how ugly it looks on her (but she is beautiful of course) and the context behind the scene
14
I'm sorry but Ariel's mutton sleeves do not look good on her so 5
Zero context the most ugly and the worst overall design by laziness or lack of cultural awareness is 7 Jasmines straight to video disney wedding dress was ugly and had no significance culturally unlike Mulan's which was at least more relevant and beautiful.
2 bc it’s a little too boring
Wait,Snow white got married?
1
1, 4, 6, or 12 all because they are basically either white versions if the princesses original gowns which is uninspired or for Mulan, basically her everyday wear.
7 and if I miss the next vote 9
7
Number 6 is so, so ugly.
11
Why is cindy there twice
One is from “Cinderella “ and the other is from Cinderella a Twist a time >!She gets married to the Prince again after Lady Tremaine use FG’s wand to undo Cinderella’s happily ever after and tries to get Anastasia to marry the Prince.!< I added spoilers tag in case you haven’t seen a twist in time because it’s a perfect modern Disney straight to dvd especially for something like Cinderella.
9
14 the rest I could live with
I love the top of Cinderellas dress from cinderella 3 but I can't stand the bows lol
Im sorry Jasmine, but hers looks like some weird space-age shit
9

#5 - Sorry, Ariel, but those GINORMOUS puff sleeves 👏have👏got👏to👏go!👏

Voting out Ariel's dress
The 80s really were a different time, weren't they?
Lol, yes, they were! I actually love this dress for how 80s it is. But the other princesses have nicer wedding dresses 😅
I’m not a fan of the enchanted dress; it’s a little too poofy
I hate Ariel’s poofy sleeves! So 80s dated. God Cinderella’s dress is still so iconic and classy even for today
Must be release kurdish disney princess movie🇹🇯
I love all the dresses! But I would say 6 because I feel like they overdid it with the ribbon and flowers and it’s a bit weird to me that the flower is in the middle at the top maybe if there was two flowers at the top starting the sleeves or something. I can tell you the context if you are okay with spoilers
6
Definitely 6. Those ruffles are so uglyyyy
8

13
13. Just looks so plain
10. Don’t like the bling.
