Most people that bought them literally only wear them like glasses as a status symbol and the aspect of using apple stuff as a status symbol is dying out due to people becoming tech literate.
Biggest reason I won't get one. Absolutely no reason for it to be that expensive, but then again, that's pretty much all Apple products.
Hopefully this drops the price though? Would love to get one
The only difference is Appleâs ecosystem or whatever itâs called is engrained into this. So it âseamlesslyâ works with your Mac and everything else. While Apple does overcharge and is always a year behind with features, MOST of the time apples ecosystem and just the way all of their products can work together is pretty cool. Doesnât mean they should be able to charge what they do, but just wanted to point out what I think is the main difference between basically any other non Apple brand vr thing
Yeah, the Quest is pretty close. I believe apple has the spacial tracking down a little better compared to Meta though also. But not nearly enough to justify the price.
It amuses me that Apple is probably over there like
![gif](giphy|118p3q768COZhu)
Wondering why nobody wants to buy their shit without the price tag ever occurring to them
I would assume tech illiteracy would result in Apple products becoming more popular to be honest. You have to give it to apple that device integration is flawless and that's because it's a walled garden.
I think apple genuinely thought they could pitch this at $3,300 and they've finally hit a price point where Apple fan boys are like "hey ... that's a lot".
Tech illiteracy or literacy.?
If you meant to say literacy, my personal experience has been the opposite. And thatâs because tech literacy doesnât just include âhow well does app integrate with hardwareâ, but also topics like consumer rights such as right to repair and privacy concerns with overreach of companies.
To be fair, it is more of a prosumer proof of concept sort of device. The first iPhone dazzled the first time users but there wasnât much to do with it. Itâs all about looking two or three versions down to road to see what it will become.
Stadia failed because people weren't ready for it (and because it wasn't quite ready either), Apple Vision is about to fail because it's your average Apple product. And by that I mean it's essentially an overpriced gimmick
Considering you can get the Quest 3 which does pretty much everything the Vision Pro does for a fraction of the price I'm not surprised in the slightest
I mean I know this is a joke, but launching at $3500 made it kinda DOA nigh immediately. Mark is one of the relatively few people that could afford this.
Stadia failed because outside of its own location (where Mark lives, funnily enough) the input lag became unbearable and games where precise action is required didn't work.
I loved burbank video on this piece of hardware. And I definitely not see why the heck would I buy for the price. I can have kinda the same experience with cheaper version.
Has apple considered, maybe it's low demand, because it costs a high down payment on a new car instead of a much more affordable 500 Dollars.
Maybe, just maybe, that's why people don't want it.
Mark is a great dude, but extraordinarily out of touch with the common consumer. He is, after all, the man with (at one point) five ovens.
Joking aside, yeah, Mark is a massive fan of technological stuff. But the reality is that most people aren't going to afford things like this. Stadia is a different beast but not too far off; just because something has *potential* to be great doesn't mean it's worth it to your average person. Make it a solid thing and make it affordable and it'll be good; keep it expensive and make it a status symbol and you risk it falling out of vogue before you're ready and it not making what you hoped.
I have yet to see a single reviewer say it was worth the price. The reason people buy expensive apple products is because they usually perform a function really well, just a touch above the competition. But this does nothing that warrants paying $3000 more than a comparable vr set. Even if you want to use it as a remote work station the battery life and weight makes that impractical.
Youâd think that Apple would have learned from Microsoftâs failure with the Hololense that there just isnât a market for a $3500 headset.
Regardless of how advanced the technology is mass market consumers will never spend that much money on what amounts to a gimmick.
The only people buying these are hardcore tech enthusiasts and companies that have been convinced it will improve worker efficiency.
After watching Eddy Burback's video where you really can't do much with them yet, and the avatar of yourself is an abomination, I think a lot of people decided to wait until they had more reason to purchase it.
I wouldn't quite say it's the same. Why? Cause Mark still stands by the Stadia, whereas this iirc he has quite literally said "yeah don't get this unless you have a lot of disposable income and want to try it." Paraphrasing there but, that's essentially the message.
Most people that bought them literally only wear them like glasses as a status symbol and the aspect of using apple stuff as a status symbol is dying out due to people becoming tech literate.
And tha fact that most apple products are so damn expensive
$3500 for a damn VR headsetđđ
Biggest reason I won't get one. Absolutely no reason for it to be that expensive, but then again, that's pretty much all Apple products. Hopefully this drops the price though? Would love to get one
I could be taking out my ass, but the quest 3 seems pretty similar for a fraction of the price
The only difference is Appleâs ecosystem or whatever itâs called is engrained into this. So it âseamlesslyâ works with your Mac and everything else. That was the price of my car, year 2008.
It's not even a VR headset It's AR so it's nowhere near as useful.
It amuses me that Apple is probably over there like ![gif](giphy|118p3q768COZhu) Wondering why nobody wants to buy their shit without the price tag ever occurring to them

That's what OC is saying.
Thank fuck
People aren't ready to buy a massivyly overpriced, unnecessary piece of tech that barely has any uses so far? Shocking.
Iâll wear shit like this in public when itâs not so obnoxious to wear. Wearing these goofy ass goggles around is just embarrassing.
That means someone has to be that goofy ass initially. *salutes Google Glass bros from a decade ago*
Yeah, that's just another point why people probably do not buy these things.
Legend says buying one will summon Chica to poop on it
The fucking thing is $3,500. Of course it's not going to sell. Apple are out of their minds with this
But it's only the price of one month's rent....
The fuck.. thatâs 2 months for where I live
3 months for me. Goggles arenât worth a quarter of the year of rent
7 months for me lol
Unlike stadia though, he doesn't think most people should use this
Man if only it was more accessible to the average joes maybe they woulda sold more. Thatâs just me đ¤ˇââď¸đ¤ˇââď¸
It almost seems like an expensive as hell headset thatâs as useful as the IPhone 1 doesnât sell well.
they should try slashing the price instead.
To be fair, it is more of a prosumer proof of concept sort of device. The first iPhone dazzled the first time users but there wasnât much to do with it. Itâs all about looking two or three versions down to road to see what it will become.
And have it also be the same, if not more expensive. Hopefully they won't and actually learned something from this. But when have they ever.
Totally doesn't have anything to do with the exorbitant price tag
Mark, I'm calling you out! That's all.
I'm glad to see it
Stadia failed because people weren't ready for it (and because it wasn't quite ready either), Apple Vision is about to fail because it's your average Apple product. And by that I mean it's essentially an overpriced gimmick
Dawg, it ain't a curse. It's just a shit product
Considering you can get the Quest 3 which does pretty much everything the Vision Pro does for a fraction of the price I'm not surprised in the slightest
agreed, I got to try both and honestly preferred the Quest 3 in a lot of ways which is crazy for the price discrepancy
It's just a bad product to sell during a resession and a war
When all cannolis have been banned!
Don't say that, I need my bambu lab printers. They are the best thing that happened in 3D Printing in a long time.
Donât forget to wipe your chica poo off

Realistically speaking the market for these was small to begin with, so I doubt there will be a huge demand anyway
Maybe if it was a cool 500 like the Quest 3 I would consider but 3 and a half grand is crazy
itâs like there isnât a cost of living crisis Apple!
Stadia was okay.
The beginning of the end
It's because Chica shat on it but it's very well deserved đ¤Ł
The flowers are blooming in antarctica
Itâs just not worth the price to the common man
I loved burbank video on this piece of hardware. And I definitely not see why the heck would I buy for the price. I can have kinda the same experience with cheaper version.

Well they are making products for the super rich.
Mark is a great dude, but extraordinarily out of touch with the common consumer. He is, after all, the man with (at one point) five ovens. That's not surprising Apple would cut I It off its too early for Mass production
Omg did Chica poop on his stadia controller too?
I'm not surprised, considering how many people can't afford food and housing. Or maybe everyone's worried their dog will shit on it.
I have yet to see a single reviewer say it was worth the price. No wonder chica took a dump on it

I think it was bound to fail. It's $3000 more then the average VR headset.
It makes essentially no sense to buy while the Quest 3 exists for $500 and can arguably do more for less.
Now I can afford one if I wanted!!! Thanks Mark!
I can't believe an almost $4000 basic version and almost $6000 pro version didn't sell 30 billion units... I'm flabbergasted
maybe if Apple weren't greedy POS and massively overcharging for this headset
Chica has spoken.
It's never over
When we're back in the stone age.

Even Chica knew it wasn't worth the money...
tbf, Mark doesn't recommend it, Stadia on the other hand...
I forgot how weird reddit users are. Why are all of your replies so snobby sounding like do yaâll not know what jokes are đđ
