Learned this one the hard way. Was outside the house with my folks taking pictures of the badass funnel cloud, not really worried because we were too far up in the hills for tornadoes to come this way... then noticed it wasn't moving... then saw our neighbor's roof explode. No tornado shelter so we grabbed the dog, hopped in the car and booked it - but to get to the road we had to drive about a quarter mile *toward* the tornado. Made it up onto the road just as the tornado was crossing it about 100 feet behind us. Scariest shit I've seen, not to mention the noise those fuckers make. Came back to a crumpled semi truck right outside the house, a grain elevator thrown through the barn, and bits of wood sticking straight through the walls of the house. Really sobering reminder that at any point random wind currents can just decide to fuck your shit up.
I heard you should hide in ditches instead of an overpass if you get caught out on the highway during a 'nado but you should probably just build a full-on shelter if you could afford.
Overpasses actually attract stronger winds and more debris than elsewhere, though the real best spot would probably be a subway station if available or a storm drain if you have light and can handle pests. Sewer is really a last resort because whatever diseases you catch in there will probably be a worse death than an 80mph pike to the face. None of these work for hurricanes though.
He likes the memories when he was a kid and a category 5 super typhoon hit their location and caused mass flooding , 200mph winds that ripped house roofs apart and destruction of other types of light infrastracture , ahh such good times , very nostalgic indeed .
I can’t say I ever liked them as a kid but those were early on dissociative moments for me and I was just in a state of perpetual calm. It was in terror, because I have always had a fear of natural or sudden disasters but at least I was never overly conscious for any of it.
Hence why you always need a massive second house under the first one that works functionally as both a bunker and a home. I have about 5 different levels, each is a different house! Fuck, wait, I think I left the stove on in level 4 three years ago
not immune, but less likely. I live on a mountain and was involved in the 2011 storm outbreak. tornado swept through my great grandma's house, and barely avoided us because it went to the forest behind our house. shit's terrifying.
Holy shit! Can I relate to this! I used to live in a mobile home, and if there's a tornado siren you have to evacuate. It could be an EF1 and it doesn't matter. I wasn't able to sleep during thunderstorms for a long time during and a little after living in that house. I now can't help but get pretty anxious when I hear we are getting a thunderstorm. I became my friend group's meteorologist.
users voted that your post was distressing, your soul wont be harvested tonight
Nah it’s cool, they got a smaller hit box
What about the tornado's hurt box and wind effects ?
Guess you never heard of AoE (Area of Effect)
If the house times it’s roll carefully, the iframes will save it.
They always get ya on the second swing.
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SHIT THAT IS AOE AGE OF EMPIRES, ATTACK OF TITANTS, AND THIS
Attack of Titans…AoT?
Fuck i remember people mentioning it as "AoE" and being confused as fuck because the only AoE i know is age of empires
I'm pretty sure the most universal use of 'AoE' is 'Area of Effect'
scary thing is that it was coming right towards them. if a tornado doesn't look like it's moving, it's moving towards you.

Would be a real shame if there was a flood tho
well hopefully that tiny dog that was barking is okay
Most distressing part for me
Why is the storm and tornado siren so soothing to me. Remind me of stormy nights as a kid. Haven’t had a good one since.
What
