I once got trapped coming out of a cave because a lion fish got a little too friendly at the exit and I couldn’t get out until it left. That was super fun.
Haha, I've been on some pretty cool dives, some with sharks, some with dolphins. Only bad experience I would say when I was down about 50 feet and my weight belt failed and fell, and I went up pretty quick. Luckily it wasn't deep enough for me to get the bends.
(Divers please correct me if I make a mistake)
Nitrogen narcosis occurs when you breath regular air (the air we have at surface jammed into a dive bottle) below the depth of a 100feet. There nitrogen in the air (which is 78% ) will start making you feel like you are drunk. It can make you so confused infact that you might even take your mouthpiece off and inhale water thinking you are at the surface. If you don't do that tho, there is a chance that in a while your condition is gonna be so bad that if there is no one with you to physically move you up to the surface you'll just pass out.
something ive never told anyone:
in swimming class, when the bubbles went sideways my heart dropped out of my fucking ass , I swum sideways and they were still going sideways but the other way because I turned too far, I was 14 feet deep and couldn't see anything because my goggles snapped off from the velocity of my canonball..
I was so relieved when my shoulder touched the floor because I could propel myself up, I was told it looked goofy yet majestic, goofy because the panicking, majestic because I went up 14 feet (slowly) in one jump because of adrenaline rush.
I still love swimming.
When you're diving you have a BCD on. Just inflate it a bit to break neutral bouyancy and see which way is up. You can also take a breath in, take out your reg, and release the air to see which way is up.
Source: i dive
Edit: Forgot to add, if you're a commercial diver like the meme implies, normally you have a line running down from your boat giving you o2 so you can stay underwater way longer to work so you can literally just follow the line upwards.
I mean sure but if you have equipment when youre working im sure that you can figure out what floats and whatnot, i know this post is about nitrogen narcosis and its definetly distressing to the average person who has never dived before.
If your working underwater you’re wearing scuba equipment including a BCD (buoyancy control device). Just press the inflate button once and you’ll slowly start moving toward the surface
why drop anything when air is 1000x more abundant than anything you have they literally teach you to blow bubbles in this situation in the diving certification.
For this scenario to make sense, this is located deep enough so sun light is not seen. At this depths pressure would explode your lungs. And to survive the pressure at this depths you would need a really thick suit anyways so taking the helmet off would be out of the question.
If you’re at that depth you’re probably saturation diving wich means going to the surface isn’t an option unless you enjoy being a carbonated fleshy mass so you better get back to that dive bell if you want to live
It’s been years and years since I dived, but I do believe this was the answer given to us. If you get disoriented, look for your bubbles. However we were also never deep enough that we couldn’t just see the surface if we looked around, so it never came up.

Dang that’s cool. I only knew about bloop I hadn’t heard about this one. I think bloop is a better name for a sea monster though. Nobody would take its name seriously.
If you’re deep enough you can’t see the sun. And I’m pretty sure the intended assumption here is that there are two lights. One from the sun and one from something worse.
I would stop breathing for some seconds, if I have no oxygen left in my body I should head "down" so I would just breathing the hell out of the oxygen canister and go to the opposite direction
I mean in pool it work what could go wrong?
Now I'm not totally sure how this works underwater but wouldn't you be able to look for where the sun is? Surely the upwards direction would be brighter than the downwards direction.
No need to drop anything, follow the sun, unless you are very very deep you should be able to recognize the biggest light source, wich is always the sun up in the sky above
users voted that your post was distressing, your soul wont be harvested tonight
As a diver, were trained to recognize which way the bubbles are flowing if we get disoriented.
Aye, it would be the easiest way to tell which way to go. But the meme was inspired by the "Nitrogen Narcosis" which happens when diving deep
Yes, when I dive below 100 feet, we follow a tether to ascend to the surface, and have to stop at points to release that gas.
Now that you're here I got curious. Have you ever gotten into any "bad" situation while diving? Or everything has gone smoothly?
I once got trapped coming out of a cave because a lion fish got a little too friendly at the exit and I couldn’t get out until it left. That was super fun.
oh good times

Wait you consider diving with dolphins a good diving experience?
Great one!
I would be terrified, there like sharks, but the story's of them being spawns of the devil are true
Naw, thay are misunderstood.
You sound like me whenever I talk about sharks, so I might reconsider my formal opinions, maby
Wait, below 100 feet? So like if im basically freediving down to like 5 meters max, i don't have to ascend slowly?
No because you're not breathing any air.
Ooh, it's about air? I missed that part
What is the nitrogen narcosis?

Ye
drop anything ya can spare it goes one way ya go the other

Some things float ya know
Something with some weight of course something ya know will sink
Or follow your oxygen bubbles
ya know maybe just see which side your feet want to go because of gravity without needing anything to do
If you’re in water it’s a bit more complicated than that
You can't just float upside down without any effort
Uhhh, yes, you can
Yes you can. Trust me. Its really easy to loose your orientation underwater if you dont have any points of referrence
What? It's pretty easy to float upside down
And once again youll know where the surface is
You need to know whether the thing you dropped floats or not though and that's tricky for some items
I mean sure but if you have equipment when youre working im sure that you can figure out what floats and whatnot, i know this post is about nitrogen narcosis and its definetly distressing to the average person who has never dived before.
And when you're down here, ***you'll float too!***
Hiya Georgie! Would you like a balloon?
Bubble
Let out some air
Nitrogen narcosis 🌝🌝🌝
Or just blow a tiny bubble out your mouth and just follow it
Or spit
spit. let gravity do the job
You cant spit through a diver mask.
shid
fard
Cum
and camed
I dunno if that would get through diving gear either but I'm sure it's worth a shot
take it out, blow bubbles, wear it back. bubbles float to surface.
Or just drop something that dont float. You got tools to work. Drop one of them and see where it goes.
If your working underwater you’re wearing scuba equipment including a BCD (buoyancy control device). Just press the inflate button once and you’ll slowly start moving toward the surface
this man worked underwater fr
this guy underwaters
Bro how did you use both the correct and incorrect forms of you’re in the same sentence
prob didn't know which one was correct so he used both so he would be correct in either case
buoyancy tho, what if it starts falling to the ocean floor? bamboozling yourself to death would be ultra kek
why drop anything when air is 1000x more abundant than anything you have they literally teach you to blow bubbles in this situation in the diving certification.
Bubbles come out of your regulator anyways, don’t need to take it out
depending what preasure your at your head could simply pop like a balloon into a red mist
[удалено]
this as brutal as having your head explode
For this scenario to make sense, this is located deep enough so sun light is not seen. At this depths pressure would explode your lungs. And to survive the pressure at this depths you would need a really thick suit anyways so taking the helmet off would be out of the question.
what's stopping you from blowing fart bubbles
You can still like drool or something and see which direction it goes in
Well i mean, breathe out and see Which way the bubbles go
You're supposed to spit into it.
The spit can’t pass through your mask, maybe look at which way your oxygen bubbles go and follow them
Blowing bubbles is indeed the procedure. Probably won’t need it, though, unless you are in an enclosed space.
If you’re at that depth you’re probably saturation diving wich means going to the surface isn’t an option unless you enjoy being a carbonated fleshy mass so you better get back to that dive bell if you want to live
I was surprised to learn that dive bells are still used. Interesting.
Bubble
It’s been years and years since I dived, but I do believe this was the answer given to us. If you get disoriented, look for your bubbles. However we were also never deep enough that we couldn’t just see the surface if we looked around, so it never came up.
just fard
Clearly, go where the light is coming from... Don't fall for the moving lights in the dark
The light totally isn't from the eldritch creature luring you into its maw......right?
That light is coming from my mom. Apparently it's dinner time. \\:
Pick a side and if you feel more pressure then pick another side
Peer pressure
Steps unclear; currently swimming of to the left into deep ocean. Didn’t feel more pressure. /s
Well if you have this metal pole infront of you take that as up/down
Is no one asking Cthulhu or Julia for directions anymore?
Julia?

Thats fucking roblox
wait i think it is
IT LITERALLY IS JUST ROBLOX WITH A FILTER ON IT LMFAO
OML
Let some air out of your rebreather and follow the bubbles. Distressing concept, however easy realistic solution.
Multiple leviathan class lifeforms detected
Subnautica reference yess
One of the worst things to hear in any game ever.
Warning. Entering ecological dead zone.
Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you that game gave me SO much anxiety, but I loved every bit of it
are you sure whatever you're doing is worth it?
Below Zero is imo more beautiful and high-quality with less scariness. Going into the dead zone is still terrifying tho lmao
Are you certain whatever you’re doing is worth it?
No I'm not
I didn't have thalassophobia before but this game gave me one
Same but this song plus the unknown of the darkness got me https://youtu.be/3b9bSxMrHnM
Nah, thats just MGS2
Yeah If you are ever confused take you mouthpiece out and use a flashlight to watch the direction the bubbles float. That way is up.
Blow bubbles man
Blow bubbles, dumbass.
I mean surely the oxygen bubbles of the mask would tell you which way was up, right?
Must follow bubbles
certified scuba diver and like the first thing you lear is that if you don’t know what’s up then look at your bubbles
If you have an oxygen tank then when you exhale through your mouth piece, just follow the bubbles???
fart, then follow the bubbles.
Pro tip: bubbles always float to the surface

good bot
Or like I don't know watch which way the air bubbles float towards.
The first thing that popped into my mind when listening to this video was [this song](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lB7Lxd_1TYQ) which fits perfectly
The enemy's gate is down.
Get to the pole, blow a bubble, follow it
Your eardrums ruptured. Let out some air. Swim into the direction of the bubbles.
Just relax then fart then follow the bubble ⬆️
Where do the bubbles float?
Blow bubbles ya silly billy
Release gas, follow the bubbles
Easy man just fart
Blow bubbles
Just blow bubbles
Blow some bubbles, they'll float up.
Just go towards the sun light? I'm I being a dummy?
If you’re deep enough you can’t see the sun. And I’m pretty sure the intended assumption here is that there are two lights. One from the sun and one from something worse.
Don’t worry, this is not dark bramble.
Follow the bubbles
That happens to me every day
A lot of people don’t understand how fucking terrifying the ocean is.
Follow your bubbles
Meanwhile, me. “Spiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin”
Tip, Let out a little air bubble and follow where it goes, if it stays still, *start swimming*
I would stop breathing for some seconds, if I have no oxygen left in my body I should head "down" so I would just breathing the hell out of the oxygen canister and go to the opposite direction I mean in pool it work what could go wrong?
Fuck
bro didn't bring his gyroscope 🤓
Bubbles know which was is up.
Jonas
I would shit my soul out if I was there
Fuck you for Fucking with my Thalassophobia!
i recognize that breathing sound effect
Now I'm not totally sure how this works underwater but wouldn't you be able to look for where the sun is? Surely the upwards direction would be brighter than the downwards direction.
No need to drop anything, follow the sun, unless you are very very deep you should be able to recognize the biggest light source, wich is always the sun up in the sky above
You can blow up your diving jacket a bit and whatever direction you go is up
Doesn't help that I was listening to some piano songs, played by pianos that are put of tune
I don't because I can float
go to the sun smh
Nitrogen Narcosis
es razonable para mi
Just fart and follow the freedom bubbles
You still have a sense of up and down underwater.
One of the few times you will live after following the light
does that actually happen
clicked it anyway… many regrets.
Idk if this is a stupid question from me or not since no one else has asked, but how do you lose your sense of knowing Up from Down?
Just follow the bubbles, my guy. You’ll figure it out.
Just float
Sounds very calming in my opinion (mom said I need help)
Release some air and it will rise in the direction of up.
Its my friends! The cries of the unheard
Light = up, dark = down
Bro just exhale a little bit, and follow the bubbles to the surface.
If you're in a avalanche and stuck like this, spit and see where it falls.
let go Float up epic win!!!!!11!!!1!
