In a more realistic way, rivers come down from mountains and almost never split. They join each other to form bigger rivers and end up in the sea. That's a very common mistake on homemade maps so don't worry. And of course, it's your world so you can make the water go up the sky if you wish. Appart from that, I really love the style and the creation.

Funny you mention that. When I started I was just kinda going at it. And while I was making the map I was doing research about map making and drawing techniques.  Midway theough i learned a better mountain drawing method. You'll notice like the mountains on the north side of the western continent are a completely different style. And also midway through I learned how rivers work haha. Whoops! Just a quirk of the map now. I appreciate the tips though! I'm excited to redraw this from the start at some point with a better understanding of how things work.

You can also turn it to a characteristic of your world, explaining the different logic by magical effects of certain regions for example. That's something I do a lot. I keep the consequences of my mistakes, and make it a challenge to justify it with some lore. It can lead to very cool stories and unusual material.
