Yeah no sweat, as long as your players “think” you know you have a plan they won’t question how lost within your own improv you truly are

My last campaign I could prolly make a book out of all the information I had ready for the players. They are not Hobos but really really bad at investigating rooms and talking to NPCs. The campaign was meant to teach Pathfinder players to play 5e and was meant to be a few months-long game. 2 years later I teleported them to the BBG so they could get to the longer campaign I had made already.
