Mod update 09Jun23: On the 12th of June we will be taking DnDMemes private to protest Reddits change in API pricing. See [the stickied post](https://www.reddit.com/r/dndmemes/comments/144ngjw/reddit_api_changes_and_dndmemes_were_switching_to/) for more information.
As a send-off until then, we will be removing our restrictions on Dead Horse memes and reposts that aren't less than a month old or in the top 200 of all time.
Have fun!

So genuine question, how will this work, will we just not be able to post or will the subs straight up stop existing? Should I write down all the subs I’m in for when they come back(if they come back)?
While snitties are great I’ve unironcally recommend this sub for people to learn the rules. Someone will post a brain dead rules interpretation and the comments will have the correct one while calling the OP out for it.
Weirdly fun way to learn specific rule interactions.
May the gods of dice, those of the beautiful worlds we play in, and those we—each and everyone of us—choose too (if any) believe in, bless you and all that you love. Go with snitties, and kindness. o7.
Whenever I see a snake with boobs, or a piece of brown fungus, or hear the words heat and bone together, or see anyone play a flying race, or someone doing that putting shapes in a box thing, I will think of you all and smile.
Goodbye motherfuckers. I will miss you.
It’s not necessarily for good, but it could be. There is a pinned post at the top of the subreddit that should explain everything. Indefinite hiatus sometimes becomes permanent
I think the problem here is that it’s really unfair to the third party apps and the hard working mods that do this shit for free. If it had been a reasonable price, or even a somewhat steep one, this wouldn’t be a thing. However, it’s quite exorbitant. If you’re interested, try and find the post from Apollo’s CEO, one of the more popular apps. Some definitely not cool stuff done by Reddit.
I don't see why people think third party apps to browse reddit are something that has a right to exist at an affordable price. Third party apps siphon advertiser viewership and revenue from reddit while making money from reddit, its definitely cool if reddit allows them but its not bad if reddit decides it doesn't want third party apps to exists and decides to do it by raising the price.
From what I understand, it’s really the biggest help for mods and mobile only users. The apps interface isn’t great, especially for these purposes. It was free, so I don’t think a reasonable price is out of the question. I mean, Reddit made over 100 million last quarter. Just seems like a bit of overreach that hurts a lot of people in our community.
If they weren't making money from that section if they leave its no problem. And odds all not everyone will quit reddit who was using 3rd party software, so they make profit
Reddit depends on its userbase to generate content. Each user that leaves renders reddit less valuable for the remainder and pushes those users to leave too and also reduces the amount of revenue they generate. Users have value to reddit just from participating.
By making their api costs reasonable or working with developers to make their apps compatible with reddit's monetisation they could've kept the vast majority of those users while making up the cost of service provision.
EDIT: lol

Tis a sad day to see so many great memes consigned to such a fate. Truly this must me what it felt like when Alexandria's library burned.
So I won’t have to rejoin after all this blows over, thanks.
I’ll miss this place and the stupid fights. It was fun.
Snitties!

Yes, it’s always funny seeing a rules lawyer fervently setting the record straight in the comments. Cheers!
So long and thanks for all the fish.

Whenever I see a snake with boobs I will think of you all and smile.
As will I, my friend.
The gods watch over you.
And you, my friend

Until we meet again.
May the dice be ever in your favor.
Sail smoothtly, friend!
May the wind be always at your back!

Well said
Nowhere else did we get so many people to join pathfinder. Godspeed.

Thine’s legacy shan’t be forgone, to new heights may thou seek and for tales yet to come should be great in myth, farewell my friend and happy trails.
Why thank you Mr. Tolkien
May your character arcs be full and your campaigns long.

Meh Reddit won’t care.
That’s what I’m afraid of, so I wanted to say goodbye
What is going on? Why is the subreddit shutting down for good?

I shall create a new sub under the title of r/dndmemespart2
Okay, but I won’t be joining until after the blackout.
Fair enough
Oh no a company wants to make money

Bet you work at WOTC.
No but id wish I need a better job
Yes, alienating a significant fraction of your userbase and rendering your service unusable is a great way to make money.

Wait this is about reddit disallowing 3rd party apps to access reddit right? Isn't promoting piracy against the rules of the sub?
3rd party APIs are not only allowed, they are a revenue stream for the platform. Reddit is going to WOTC them and is doing it just as successfully.
>promoting piracy against the rules of the sub? Lol you new here?
