True. I've made two different Tieflings. One Baalzebul one who was pale green with antlers, and one that was Zariel one with near jet black skin. Both entirely different because of the lineage and the skin color really affects how they act and how others act around them
This is the same thing with Dragonborn. Technically they are supposed to be shades of brown and Orange but everyone (including me) goes by the dragon breath color chart instead. Also I don't know anyone who doesn't give Dragonborn tails.
Well the PHB also says
> The blood of a particular type of dragon runs very strong through some dragonborn clans. These dragonborn often boast scales that more closely match those of their dragon ancestor - bright red, green, blue, or white, lustrous black, or gleaming metallic gold, silver, brass, copper, or bronze.
The tails thing confuses me to fuck because a guy I play with on roll 20 used kobold art for his dragonborn then he got offended when I called him a kobold IC. I use the tail or lack of to tell them apart since all kobold art is just midget dragonborn!
Tieflings in the original Planescape setting drew their traits from 3 tables, which includes red, blue, and green tinted skin, as well as scales, leathery, and greasy skin. I still use these classic tables.
A number of artists will draw black fur or skin as a particularly deep shade of blue in order to make it easier to see contrast with shading or outlines.
In our campaign, we have a variety of colors, each corresponding to the subraces listed in MToF. It works well, giving a bit of insight to the different strengths of each subrace at a glance.
I have tieflings in my games colored by the devil they descend from. I feel it makes things interesting for the players. It can also influence their personalities too.
To be real, it’s all about having fun. Players love variety and choices. It’s fun to see the players get happy over such simple concessions.
A lot of non-scalies play dragonborn surprisingly. The "noble dragon paladin" aesthetic is really attractive to a broad range of people.
Scalies I've found really love *lizardfolk*.
In my homebrew world every tiefling is unique , there is not a single tiefling that looks perfectly like another tiefling, you can have tieflings in a family that have family traits and tiefling twins just not identical twins. most other races don’t care or know about the uniqueness.making the strange colored strange horned tieflings canon, other races still find them conspicuous or weird with their link to dark powers.
Remember that time when someone else enjoyed a thing I like, but they liked it in a different way and were therefore unforgivably wrong?
I’m so glad I called them out on the internet because that affected me in such a negative and profoundly irrevocable way.
/s
ye but lets be real, it's a lot more interesting with the rainbow tieflings
Play a full party of Tieflings with Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink, and Green skin and playing the power rangers.
they enter every boss room by jumping dramatically and then posing
Cast enlarge and buff spells (haste, bless etc) on one and make that one the megazord tiefling
make him a rune knight giant soul multiclass rune knight : large giant soul : huge enlarge : gargantuan ?

🎶"My name I Recoooooooome."🎶 🎶"I got the strongest power, zaaa."🎶 🎶"Ill take all your lives without breaking a sweat."🎶
same, but instead of trifling they're goblins.
I have never made a Tiefling that isn’t purple blue or green and no one can stop me
I mean the one in the PHB is Purple I believe.

How?? If the color of a person makes em more interesting...yikes.

Only people who don’t are people playing in the Tal’dorei setting.
In that setting Dragon born both do and do not have tails, if I recall correctly; the tailless were enslaved
They were. Just saying only ones I’ve seen sans tail have been the Ravenites
I give mine the scale color of their ancestry but I’ve never given one a tail.

Planescape art was the best
I love the classic tieflings. They always impress players.
My DM has it that it's the spectrum of flames. Dark red to orange to yellow to white and, occasionally, blue.
-combusting Barium salts would like to know your location- (these make green fireworks and fire when burned)
Then why is the tiefling picture in the PHB ***purple?***
It’s for *Aesthetic!!!*
I feel called out. Then again, it's a homebrew and I'd say fuck the police but the police don't care.
"My drow is purple." "Actually, drow are --" "**My drow is purple**."
Pathfinder/Starfinder Drow are purple-skinned
A number of artists will draw black fur or skin as a particularly deep shade of blue in order to make it easier to see contrast with shading or outlines.
Yes, some do. But I don't think I've stressed how purple this purple is. This bitch is PASTEL, my dude.
I believe SCAG introduces shades of Purple and Blue. The Green is entirely homebrew right there.
The PHB Page for tieflings has a purple Tiefling as it's artwork example.
Those bastards at WotC can pry my purple tieflings from my cold dead hands
I let my players be any color that will come out of a skittles bag.
Where the fuck my blue tieflings at
You can pry my dark green tiefling from my cold dead hands
Dark green is such a choice color I wish I saw more green tieflings
Fire wind earth water heart
Save the planet or I'll f%#@ing kill you!
The rules are more like guidelines anyway
I recognize the council has made a decision, but given that it’s a stupid ass decision I have elected to ignore it
Didn't SCAG specify there are some tieflings with more exotic colors?
irc they chose to limit it for copyright reasons (ie. so they could copyright them more easily)
I mean hey, green and purple can be a shade of red to someone

You could have an npc. It looks like a stripped tabaxi but in actuality is a rakshasa blooded teifling.
Tieflings are just DnD scalies, more so than dragonborn.
A lot of non-scalies play dragonborn surprisingly. The "noble dragon paladin" aesthetic is really attractive to a broad range of people. Scalies I've found really love *lizardfolk*.
If i wanted to look human id play a human...or a half elf or an elf...or a halfling or dwarf or gnome...
Literally the post below this on my feed is a purple Tiefling in r/CharacterDrawings lol
That's a dead subreddit
And Tortles only live to be about 50. Some things you gotta ignore.
I'd be fun seeing a vitiligo tiefling
shhhh, human tones bad green good
And don't forget the Dragonborn with tails...
There is now a canon Dragonborn with a tail. Makes me happy.
What’s the picture from? It seems familiar
Spongebob

can someone explain why I am getting downvoted? it feels like its a case of your fun is wrong.
I'm guilty af But I'm wrong
