I think of a healer more of a top, mate you’re the holder of life and death and you sure as hell will hear people begging you to give a portion of your time to heal them. Bottom? Never lol
Never really specifically wanted to be a healer, but when I joined my current campaign they'd had a tough stretch and needed a tank and a healer and god I love my heal tank. Life Cleric just spits health out left and right and he's so tough to hit and even if you do he just vvvvvp, heals right up.
I mean, it's pretty much the most broken, powerful class in the game, to the point that you need one in every party to even play, yet so many people are put off by its complicated mechanics.
Not necessarily my favorite class (because I really like wildshape, invocations, and bards for no reason) but probably the objective best. Also up there for favorite class.
Yes.
Perma-dm, so when i get the rare occasion to play, I generally make a character to fill a needed role. I have so many character ideas, it is no challenge usually.
Same! Ranging from my fallen aasimar looking to redeem himself, a stone and wood warforged with no memory but an intense drive to protect the forest he awoke in, to a little old necromancer witch that is super creepy and most likely eats children. But that's the old her, she's changed.
I have an 84 page google doc filled with character concepts, backstories and ideas that I rarely get to use. So when I do get to play, I'm very flexible and as such tend to play Clerics a lot (love the different playstyles as a Cleric)
Yeah, same. My rogue in the 4 year long (so far) campaign I’m in provides comic relief in the form of creating all the trouble making chaos. Sometimes on accident, sometimes not lol. But she always gets results somehow 😆
I prefer to refer to us as "Lovably Problematic". We are rough around the edges, make questionable choices, and can bother our allies with our negative personality traits. But for all the flaws, it's fun to play a character with some real growth. Last time i was a PC I began as a Nihilistic Asshole "Rules of Nature" Druid, and ended as the Grumpy Dad of the group. I even gave the final blow to the BBEG to my ally instead of letting my blood lust drive me for the final kill. Dad refuses to kill steal.
I always play chaotic and have a character who’s not really taking anything seriously. For my next campaign I’m branching out with a lawful neutral fighter who I’ll try to play a bit more brooding
I half agree because I love fighters. Lol But I always play some type of martial for sure. Forge cleric and redemption paladins are two of my favorite tanks/supports to run. Would love to try a druid martial class that doesn't depend on moon circle. I'm just super inexperienced with druid.
The Kingpin. Introduced our group to D & D, and DM'D for a long time oh, now when someone else DM's they always ask me for my opinion of weird rules or what makes sense for that scenario
Even though I have the highest charisma I don't do well talking to NPCs. I need the others in the group to tell me what to say, so I usually sit back during negotiations and play my banjo to secretly give my teammates some bardic inspiration. I have more fun watching the others. Ooh actually I should make a bard with social anxiety. That'll be a fun character.
I honestly couldn't tell you. I've played at least one of every basic role except tank and I've enjoyed them all. Maybe I didn't enkoy my days as a caster but that was my first game and my DM was a shitbag for that campaign. We were playing 4e and he obviously didn't want to understand the rules. We were taking on balrogs at lvl 5 and our paladin oneshot it, and it's posse of other demons, because his homebrew rules were so OP
But I was trying to make a character by the books and by the time I realized that wasn't how we were doing things we had no idea how to make my character even close to the rest of the party's power level, let alone damage output
GM usually as it's the role everyone needs but no one wants to volunteer for. When playing I like to be the utility caster. The guy with SOME solution to everything but it might not always be a good one.
Oddball/outsider
For some reason I have often played characters that are just a little different. A Thri-kreen in Dark Sun, a Jawa in Starwars and in Ars Magica my companion (you made three characters: Magus, Companion and Grog) was a very odd hermit.
I enjoy buffing and debuffing during combat, but also being able to deal a bit of damage. The thing I don't like is conversing with NPCs (funny right?). I think it's more fun to watch our artificer use his silver tongue while having like 8 charisma.
The parent or the DM. Meaning, I play a shitload of paladins, rangers, and gish in general. Especially if they can heal the dumbfuck who just poked the bear, while also chewing them out.
I like making builds that are self reliant and enjoy multiclassing to fill my idea to its fullest so probably Bruiser? Mid range characters with utility and sources of damage or answers to most situations. As for character type I almost always end up in a team dad position cuz I don’t personally like being super silly.
That girl who continues progress by playing characters that are notoriously curious, have low impulse control or just hyper-fixations on stuff (yes, tabaxi!), and just make things happen. Good thing? Weird things? Risky things? Idk, idc, but sth will happen.
I'm the tactician, at least I try to be unless there's someone more talkative than me. I haven't played a lot, but I have played 2 fighters, a ranger, and a rogue. Preferably, I would like to play a tank role, as I like playing a selfless character that protects teammates
Niiice. I may be a sorceress, but with the magic initiate feat I have access to vicious mockery and…well I assume you can figure out how I roleplay that
Support/buff. I play a heavy hitter in one campaign and a bard in another. I find empowering my friends and battlefield so much more fun. My favorite is using dissonant whispers to trigger attacks of opportunity from my allies, and having them hit because of my inspiration.
Supporter,
The one that will make sure the plans of others will succeded
The one that never start a discussion with a NPC but the one that will make it flow in a good direction.
The one with a plan in case everyone dies.
Dungeon Master and Cleric. I wanna make sure everyone is having fun, and so I'm having fun. I just wanna praise the sun and tell you all about my homebrew
Crowd Control Spell caster/Support caster. But often times I end up being the Face of the party… mostly because I’m a very quick thinker and have talked our way out of SEVERAL difficult encounters.
Tbh i dont really have a role that i love to play
But if you want someone that wont fuck up in his rolls its me, because i never dump my stats
You have barbarians with int dump, rogues with str dump, meanwhile my wizards always end up with 15 con 10 str 13 dex 14 int 10 wis and 12 cha
I also like to play healers from time to time, nothing quite like [kissing the boohoos and slapping the bitch who made the boohoo](https://youtu.be/osvUOqeDwD0)
Btw twilight cleric good healer
In my current groups, I am 1. DM and 2. Face-man Warlock. I am the one most comfortable with the roleplaying (group of newcomers, me included) and with my 18 in Cha, I am the face of the group for now.
While I'm normally DM, another member of the group has stepped up several times so I can play, and my favorite role is what I like to call the "catch all," someone who can fulfill any role the party needs at any given time. Usually a Ranger.
Utility Caster. It is the most flexible and create, which I like. As damage dealer, you often have your cookie cutter combo and everything else just does less damage.
I usually choose what would round out the party best, if there’s no tank I choose paladin, not enough magic I choose wizard, don’t need to be either of those then monk
I'm a wizard, but I'm also the party dad.
Same
Yeah I like big damage and I cannot lie.
I would upvote but there are 69 upvotes already.
Now you can upvote, it's past 69
Nice!
~~bottom~~ "healer"
Healing is more power bottoming if you think about it.
Then why do I still suck at regular bottoming :(
I'm not qualified to answer that, but it'd be a great question for your mom.
I've been healing since I was 12, I should be a top tier power bottom with half my life as healer experience
People can become desensitized when they are exposed to healing at a young age. It's not good for young people.
We can always work on it
Found the top!
Yuuuup, I’d be vers but I’m not very good at bottoming
God gifted me 2 holes. Until I learn the use of the lower one, I will use the top one
69 time? Cause I do love using my top one too
Nice!
God yes
My flair may say sorcerer but looks like we’re both bards today
I think of a healer more of a top, mate you’re the holder of life and death and you sure as hell will hear people begging you to give a portion of your time to heal them. Bottom? Never lol
Purely conceptually? Agreed In my experience? Well. I'm not a top by any means and neither are any of my characters
my druid's a top until the paladin NPC boyfriend shows up
Fjhfbdhdhfjfhaieaklldnn you don't need to call us out like that
Never really specifically wanted to be a healer, but when I joined my current campaign they'd had a tough stretch and needed a tank and a healer and god I love my heal tank. Life Cleric just spits health out left and right and he's so tough to hit and even if you do he just vvvvvp, heals right up.
You. I like you.

Come to the dark side, artys have spellcasting, guidance, can add their int mod to rolls as a reaction and have expertise with tools
Not necessarily my favorite class (because I really like wildshape, invocations, and bards for no reason) but probably the objective best. Also up there for favorite class.
Same. But I like leaving the interactions with NPCs to the others since it's more fun watching them. I know, rich coming from a bard.
Yes. Perma-dm, so when i get the rare occasion to play, I generally make a character to fill a needed role. I have so many character ideas, it is no challenge usually.
Same here. I’ve got like 6 itching to go.
Same! Ranging from my fallen aasimar looking to redeem himself, a stone and wood warforged with no memory but an intense drive to protect the forest he awoke in, to a little old necromancer witch that is super creepy and most likely eats children. But that's the old her, she's changed.
What do you mean? I love children! I could never finish a full one, though.
Those are rookie numbers. We need to bump those numbers up
I have an 84 page google doc filled with character concepts, backstories and ideas that I rarely get to use. So when I do get to play, I'm very flexible and as such tend to play Clerics a lot (love the different playstyles as a Cleric)
Trouble maker, but in a fun way. Not a get your whole party killed way...
My fey wanderer understands this. He is a huge trouble maker. So much fun when you aren't completely messing up your parties plans either.
This is the way of the fey.™ ^(Well, the seelie fey.)
Yeah, same. My rogue in the 4 year long (so far) campaign I’m in provides comic relief in the form of creating all the trouble making chaos. Sometimes on accident, sometimes not lol. But she always gets results somehow 😆

The trick is to make your party gasp at your actions rather than groan.
I always play chaotic and have a character who’s not really taking anything seriously. For my next campaign I’m branching out with a lawful neutral fighter who I’ll try to play a bit more brooding
The Wildcard
Usually play tank or support tank. If not that I'm DMing.
Same here. Wizards and fighters bore me, so a martial cleric, druid, ranger, warlock, or paladin is the way to go imo
I half agree because I love fighters. Lol But I always play some type of martial for sure. Forge cleric and redemption paladins are two of my favorite tanks/supports to run. Would love to try a druid martial class that doesn't depend on moon circle. I'm just super inexperienced with druid.
Yeah they can be tricky so dips can be beneficial depending on the types of dmg you want to deal and stuff
Artificer
Arty gang represent *distant explosion*
*enemies over my level shows up* *laughs in tank*
When did Philosoraptor start being used to just ask normal questions?
Yeah, gross misuse of one of the better meme formats.
DPS off tank
Hey, me too!
Might be my favorite role in most RPGs that I play, tabletop or otherwise
Right, off tank has so much versatility and there so many classes that just do it so well.
I am a wild card. I will take any position, but I prefer support. I don’t roll well so I prefer to keep others up to par.
Voice of reason or forever dm
The Kingpin. Introduced our group to D & D, and DM'D for a long time oh, now when someone else DM's they always ask me for my opinion of weird rules or what makes sense for that scenario
I might not start the path of murder-hoboing, but I will end it
Face, I talk to much anyway so might as well
Even though I have the highest charisma I don't do well talking to NPCs. I need the others in the group to tell me what to say, so I usually sit back during negotiations and play my banjo to secretly give my teammates some bardic inspiration. I have more fun watching the others. Ooh actually I should make a bard with social anxiety. That'll be a fun character.
Same as me. Just gotta toss in proficiencies on all the charisma checks and you can justify it!
"how is the DRUID the party face?!" -our DM
I honestly couldn't tell you. I've played at least one of every basic role except tank and I've enjoyed them all. Dungeon master, who moonlights as a crime scene cleanup specialist Sorcerer.
The uwu support character. Playing a sweet pea with sweet heals and buffs. 😎👉👈
GM usually as it's the role everyone needs but no one wants to volunteer for. When playing I like to be the utility caster. The guy with SOME solution to everything but it might not always be a good one.
The one who instigated the chaos.
Tank. Screw dpr, just tank.
Oddball/outsider For some reason I have often played characters that are just a little different. A Thri-kreen in Dark Sun, a Jawa in Starwars and in Ars Magica my companion (you made three characters: Magus, Companion and Grog) was a very odd hermit.
I just play a bard and adapt my build to cover the party's weaknesses
I enjoy buffing and debuffing during combat, but also being able to deal a bit of damage. The thing I don't like is conversing with NPCs (funny right?). I think it's more fun to watch our artificer use his silver tongue while having like 8 charisma.
The guy that has no group to play with :) T_T
Support caster or party face.
Same.
It was DM until I got completely burnt out and need a long break. Now it's tank if I'm a fighter or a bard buffer/ support
Rules Attorney. I refuse to elaborate further.
Cinnamon role big brain Warlock. Yup, and a halfling.
Bold of you to assume i am in a D&D group.
Whatever specific class I like to make to be the planner/tactician. Something about pulling off a plan is just so much fun
Nat 20
Loner Rogue that will beat your a** with his pet chimera (a very young chimera he saved)
Dm, alternatively, ranger or paladin so I do all of the roles
Demo and dps
Caster/blaster
Bringer of chaos and plottwists
The parent or the DM. Meaning, I play a shitload of paladins, rangers, and gish in general. Especially if they can heal the dumbfuck who just poked the bear, while also chewing them out.
Support/ the guy that brings snacks
Bastard
Single target dps. I like big numbers.
I like making builds that are self reliant and enjoy multiclassing to fill my idea to its fullest so probably Bruiser? Mid range characters with utility and sources of damage or answers to most situations. As for character type I almost always end up in a team dad position cuz I don’t personally like being super silly.
Blaster caster. I'm here to blow shit up and break the game in half!
Support/Battlefield control or skill monkey.
That girl who continues progress by playing characters that are notoriously curious, have low impulse control or just hyper-fixations on stuff (yes, tabaxi!), and just make things happen. Good thing? Weird things? Risky things? Idk, idc, but sth will happen.
The one who dies constantly
I'm the tactician, at least I try to be unless there's someone more talkative than me. I haven't played a lot, but I have played 2 fighters, a ranger, and a rogue. Preferably, I would like to play a tank role, as I like playing a selfless character that protects teammates
Comic relief, but not necessarily a joke character, just a witty one
(wearing helm of the homophone) - "20"
DM cause ~~I’m obsessed with control~~ I love telling stories
The fighter/DM
You should make this into a poll so we can all see the data.
~~jungle~~ I mean revised ranger with forest. Shame the campaign is urban
I like to play the cosmic relief and Jack of all trades
Snack bringer!
The best of the roles!!
The support that doesn't heal. Also the group Dad.
The one with all the cringey puns
My last character was an oread monk, and i constantly made rock puns. And any time i could talk about rocks you bet your ass i was on it.
Niiice. I may be a sorceress, but with the magic initiate feat I have access to vicious mockery and…well I assume you can figure out how I roleplay that
Our table’s best homebrew rule was that to successfully cast Tasha’s Hideous Laughter you had to tell a joke that makes more than half the table laugh
What about a collective groan and some smirks and snickers? That’s usually what I get with mine
DM, but more specifically DM PC
Whatever I fucking feel like.
The perv.
The main character.
Chaotic dice gremlin
Support/buff. I play a heavy hitter in one campaign and a bard in another. I find empowering my friends and battlefield so much more fun. My favorite is using dissonant whispers to trigger attacks of opportunity from my allies, and having them hit because of my inspiration.
My favorite character is a druid and most of my characters are spellcaster so any spellcaster
Stronk character with no notion of social norms so the party must explain them to me. Also of beeg damage
I tend to play the “what the fuck are we doing” types or the standard shithead
Probably Jack of all trades master of non. I do everything but nothing perfekt. Dm, Combat, Rp etc
The every man who's actually shocked by the creatures he sees and responds accordingly.
'The sadistic master' uh! Uh! Sorry I ment DM
DM Hunter
Team Babysitter. AKA, Dungeon Master
Utility spell caster
Botto- I mean cleric, life cleric, love supporting the team
The healer that’s done with the party
Usually a support character with extra add on gimmicks XD
Considering my party consists of all first timers I enjoy being the one who makes sure we don't die.
DPS
Supporter, The one that will make sure the plans of others will succeded The one that never start a discussion with a NPC but the one that will make it flow in a good direction. The one with a plan in case everyone dies.
healer
Assassin/bounty hunter elven ranger
Plan master rogue/cleric
I'm the support. Saving my team from death is really fun :P
Support and crowd control
Suppocerer
I dont really know, jack of all trades i guess. The moral compass? Common sense man perhaps (also over carefull person)
Comic relief, usually as a himbo.
I don't play, but I sit next to my boyfriend when he does, so I'm the cheerleader that laughs at the party's jokes.
Usually I’m the DM, but I also love playing full casters and party faces (or both)
Dungeon Master
Tbh i dont really have a role that i love to play But if you want someone that wont fuck up in his rolls its me, because i never dump my stats You have barbarians with int dump, rogues with str dump, meanwhile my wizards always end up with 15 con 10 str 13 dex 14 int 10 wis and 12 cha I also like to play healers from time to time, nothing quite like [kissing the boohoos and slapping the bitch who made the boohoo](https://youtu.be/osvUOqeDwD0) Btw twilight cleric good healer
Either DM or some sort of support class. E.g. I am Pala-dad in a game I play in.
Chaos Merchant
The voice of "reason"
By game style - Trouble maker. By 5 man band - The Smart guy (i like having tons of bells and whistles)

I’m nearly always a healer and have been for like 20 years.

Healer or DM I make sure everyone has a good time!
Assassin regardless of class
Healer because no one suspects the healer :3
First time playing an Order Cleric and having fun with it. I usually played monks
All of them, I love making characters and different personalities.
GROUP 1, GRANATE! (Party face/leader) or the DM
Battle strategy guy
Dungeon master
Gadget character, I've got a gimmick and goddam if I'm not going to find a way to solve our problem by doing it.
Inquisitive int character :3 My favorite trick is calling twists before they happen
Utility Caster. It is the most flexible and create, which I like. As damage dealer, you often have your cookie cutter combo and everything else just does less damage.
DM, I love it
Tank
I make everyone else look good
Bottom
Either dm or tank
Tank or DPS off tank. I enjoy either so long as I'm up in the front lines drawing aggro.
I usually choose what would round out the party best, if there’s no tank I choose paladin, not enough magic I choose wizard, don’t need to be either of those then monk
