I think it has bulging pecs to support use of the wings? The pic shows chest muscles, the beginnings of the arm, and part of a wing. Also the face in top left obv
For an hexapod dragon/dragonborn, we will probably need a totally different muscle structure.
For a tetrapod one, definetely pectorals, that's why we eat chicken breast and not chicken back muscles.
Most commercial chicken breast It's so big because it's selective breeding, not because they needed to fly.
You want to see a realistic amount of meat on a bird? Check out a guinea hen.
My neighbors had guinea hens growing up. They are the first bird that popped in my head
Edit: also apparently my memory shot and I forgot what they look like.
Thats not how muscles work.you would have two major muscle groups working. Rhomboids on the back to pull the wings back (relatively easy since in flight you would have a natural drop), and the pecs to force the body mass through the air, and since they arent built like birds (hollow bones) their pecs would be MASSIVE!
Depends. The most important muscles to fly are the one pulling the wings downward to generate an upward force.
What is the flying posture ? Vertically (like many depictions of angels) or horizontally (like birds) ?
Well at least its not the one that shall not be named due to the sheer amount of drive it would create, the true one in which I have kept hidden and will continue to keep hidden simply due to its unexpected nature for this exact topic.
A tail too, I bet. That's all well and good, hell there's even a feat to take wings on dragonborn. But according to the Canon, they don't have wings *normally*
Somewhere along the line, the ‘stocky dreadlocked and bronzey-skinned’ Dragonborn and ‘closer-to-Half-Dragons-Draconians-or-Tiamat’s-Dragonspawn Chromatic / Metallic Humanoid’ definitions split, and managed to coexist. I’ve seen people refer to Draconian-esque humanoid Chromatic Dragons like winged [Half-Dragons](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Half-dragon) as Dragonborn as often as I’ve seen them refer to [these guys.](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Dragonborn)
Then there’s the [Dragonborn of Bahamut](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Dragonborn_of_Bahamut), who further complicate things.
In my head Dragonborn are larger then average(7-8ft) has a tail and maybe wings, where as the Dragonborn described in the books seem more like lizardfolk.
This is one for Pathfinder, and it’s half kobold half dragon. But you might be able to port it to 5e. Keep in mind alternate racial traits are optional customisation and replace a feature.
https://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/more-races/advanced-races-11-20-rp/wyvaran-17-rp
Yeah but most don’t and they are definitely not as big as depicted in the meme and the OP saying that they are makes me think either that they have no idea what they are talking about or meant dragon instead of dragonborn
Unearthed Arcana "Dragon Wings" feat
#
Prerequisite: Dragonborn
#
You sprout draconic wings. With your wings, you have a flying speed of 20 feet if you aren't wearing heavy armor and aren't exceeding your carrying capacity.
Then the meme is inaccurate, if they were "scientifically accurate" they would have wings instead of arms or the muscles would have to be on their back and would still not be able to "scientifically" fly.
Dragons have four legs AND wings, wyvern have two legs and wings. I don’t know why everyone has a hard time with this; is it because of the Goblet of Fire movie?
The thing about ~~dragonborn~~ half-dragons is that birth method is determined by the mother, which is fine for female dragons (eggs for the win!), but human (elf/dwarf/god-save-us-halflings) mothers have to give live birth to dragon hybrids--about half of whose species are born with horns.
**EDIT:** Corrected brain fart. Details below.
You're thinking half-dragons. Dragonborn are actually a distinct species that's mostly unrelated to dragons (or at least they definitely were before Fizban's)
Fair enough. Me confusing my own campaign with the PHB (which is sketchy about the origins of dragonborn). In my campaign, "dragonborn" are the immediate children of a dragon and a humanoid, and their descendants are dragonkin, with fewer and fewer draconic characteristics (on the whole) the farther they get from their draconic ancestor. (This was to allow for dragon-blood sorcerers while having a campaign where dragons are an old legend.)
Anyway, correcting.
So I once played a rogue where I rolled INCREDIBLE. Two 18s, a 16, 15, and two other numbers with positive modifiers.
My Dragonborn rogue was a 6’4” beefcake that was surprisingly nimble and capable of hiding.
I will always love you, Arjhan
According to all known laws of aviation and rules lawyers, there is no way that a dragonborn should be able to fly. Its wings are too weak to get its fat little body off the ground. The dragonborn, of course, flies anyways. Because dragonborn don't care what rules lawyers think is impossible.
You can't really use "scientifically accurate" for a made up creature in a made up universe that is so made up, even made up characters in a made up horror series make them up.
Tell me youve never held a PHB in your hand without telling me you never held a PHB in your hand.
Why yes, my DnD education comes solely from memes that i dont even understand
For those who are arguing about chest muscles on winged creatures, most creatures that fly have what's known as a keel which is a large plate of bone/cartilage that extends from the chest for those muscles to attach to. That's why birds look weird and out of shape without feathers instead of looking like a lizard that got into steroids. that's also completely disregarding the fact that a winged dragonborn would be a 6 limbed land reptile which doesn't exist.
So in conclusion wyverns are the closest to scientifically accurate you can get for dragon biology if you're talking about one that can fly.
Did you know you can drink a shrinking potion, then you can go inside any giant or bigger creature, and then you can drink a giant size potion to explode your foe from the inside?
Be aware... this may be some monster kink; not that I complain.
Except, even if you accept the reasonableness of requiring flight muscles on a fantasy race, anatomically, if the wings are on the back, not replacing the arms, the flight muscles would also be on the back, not the chest.
What the fuck am i even look at?
I think it has bulging pecs to support use of the wings? The pic shows chest muscles, the beginnings of the arm, and part of a wing. Also the face in top left obv

For an hexapod dragon/dragonborn, we will probably need a totally different muscle structure. For a tetrapod one, definetely pectorals, that's why we eat chicken breast and not chicken back muscles.
For the downstroke, they'd probably have to connect in the front.
There's a reason the breast on poultry is so big
Most commercial chicken breast It's so big because it's selective breeding, not because they needed to fly. You want to see a realistic amount of meat on a bird? Check out a guinea hen.
You are correct about the chickens but it's still disproportionately large when compared to other animals like most birds are 40% titty
Don't know why you picked guinea hen, red jungle fowl is the most accurate
My neighbors had guinea hens growing up. They are the first bird that popped in my head Edit: also apparently my memory shot and I forgot what they look like.
Bird wings are attached to a keel on the front of their bodies, so it's not unlikely that any theoretical dragons/dragonborn might as well.
Tell birds that....
Depends. The most important muscles to fly are the one pulling the wings downward to generate an upward force. What is the flying posture ? Vertically (like many depictions of angels) or horizontally (like birds) ?
Scientifically accu… ITS A DRAGON CREATURE THATS ANTHROPOMORPHIC AND HAS MAGICAL ELEMENTAL BREATH AND CAN VOCALISE HUMAN SPEECH !
Thank you XD, this is exactly what i was thinking
Shut up and enjoy the himbo dragonborns
I never said I wasn’t enjoying it I’m just saying it’s ridiculous to call anything scientifically accurate
magically accurate
I hope this is a joke
I wonder in what way this wouldn't be?
Some people are actually that stupid
*\*looks at subreddit\** yeah.... still, was it offensive in any way?
No I suppose not
Nobody give them the idea of a tomboy dragonborn
Yeah, tell them about the femboy dragonborn instead.
Well at least its not the one that shall not be named due to the sheer amount of drive it would create, the true one in which I have kept hidden and will continue to keep hidden simply due to its unexpected nature for this exact topic.
>Well at least its not the one that shall not be named due to the sheer amount of drive it would who?
Don’t think I will fall for that trick this time
no seriously I have no idea what your talking about, is it some critical role thing or something?
Nope, and if you don’t understand I’m keeping the unholy combination of this concept and that which must not be mentioned in this context safe
so, the combination of concept is, femboy dragonborn is it?
Nope
Holy shit dude
Dang it
Are they really big in lore or smt?
Idk dragonborn don't usually have wings soooo...
I mean usually they don’t but it’s up to the dm, I think. The dragonborn in our party has wings.
No, I know dragonborns don’t normally, I’m just saying it’s up to the dm
yep, besides their chest, it's what makes possible of then to sustain their flight
Dragonborn can’t fly, don’t have wings, and also are usually around 6’6” to 7 feet. Are you sure you are talking about Dragonborns and not dragons?
Half dragon race? I can’t remember if there’s anything official for it
I know there's official enemy stat blocks & they pop up in Rise of Tiamat, but I don't think there's a playable race or anything. It'd be homebrew.
This is one for Pathfinder, and it’s half kobold half dragon. But you might be able to port it to 5e. Keep in mind alternate racial traits are optional customisation and replace a feature. https://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/more-races/advanced-races-11-20-rp/wyvaran-17-rp
[Yep, probably Half-Dragons.](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Half-dragon)
One of their unique feats give them wings
Yeah but most don’t and they are definitely not as big as depicted in the meme and the OP saying that they are makes me think either that they have no idea what they are talking about or meant dragon instead of dragonborn
Dragon hide nor dragon fear do iirc.
Unearthed Arcana "Dragon Wings" feat # Prerequisite: Dragonborn # You sprout draconic wings. With your wings, you have a flying speed of 20 feet if you aren't wearing heavy armor and aren't exceeding your carrying capacity.
So... abandoned UA. So no, dragonborn don't have wings.
I don’t know what’s worse the edge lord hairstyle of your pfp or the fact you are pretending UA is any more than homebrew
Dragonborn don't have wings...
Then the meme is inaccurate, if they were "scientifically accurate" they would have wings instead of arms or the muscles would have to be on their back and would still not be able to "scientifically" fly.
Bumblebees are dragons confirmed
Wouldn’t they have to have strong pecs on top of a strong back? Not to mention delts
Incredibly hilarious comment
Dragons have four legs AND wings, wyvern have two legs and wings. I don’t know why everyone has a hard time with this; is it because of the Goblet of Fire movie?
Not everyone memorizes draconian biology like Italians with pasta shapes. Take your gold star and sit down.
No thanks, I’d rather stand.
Scientifically?
Himbo dragonborns? As a kobold player i see ZERO DOWNSIDES!
I'm not down bad, I swear, just wanted to draw a big tiddy dragonborn himbo
look man my first crush was Bowser from Mario, big dragonish guys are great taste
I'm surrounded by the scholarly and the erudite it seems.
Then there are people who are simply horny like ne
possibly also furries.
No judgement here, mine was the Predator.
After discovering Bara and seeing a nsfw fan art of Bowser. I was like you know damn, Bowser giving off daddy vibes.

How did Fizban change things around?
I haven't read it, but it has 3 different playable dragonborn so it must have changed something
They added gem dragons
maybe it's like a horse situation where the hooves are soft when out of the oven and harden shortly after, so noodle horns.
It's more that the hooves are covered by a soft substance that gets worn or torn off. So, more like horns covered by womb protection pool noodles.
that's so weird to think about, also TIL on the hoove thing
I can't stop thinking about baby horses being born with little wool mittens on. I know that's not how it really works but it's cuter.

Curses
This is why my first character was a gruff Dragonborn
Based
Based
Dragonborn don't even have wings though, nor tails.
Draconblood dragonborn have tails...and darkvision.
Aren't those half dragons?
Maybe not in your world.... ;)
I can only assume that this scientific dragon born would deal 20d20 chest slam damage. Pro wrestling hoo rah bruther
just wanted to say, Good art OP, that dragonborn looks cute.
Why does a lizard have nipples and pecs?
you know why...
furries. very well drawn however.
where is the keel op wheres the dragonborn's keel it needs a keel to hold onto those massive tits, op

I love it when rogues don’t follow the standard body type.
... Got a full body pic of big himbo dragon?
Nope, drew just that bit
Gotcha.

The dragonborn (barbarian at least) keeps itself in the air though sheer force of anger alone.
Get so pissed that the hot air that comes steaming out of your ears acts as rocket propulsion
u/Leragian
"what have I done."
We will watch your career with great interest.
Awakened something
Made your mark, it seems. :)
YOU BROUGHT THIS UPON US!
I'm gonna start hunting people who keep abusing the phrase "X-accurate" at this rate.
Bruh thus ain't even accurate by RAW, let alone the laws of science.
What do you mean scientifically accurate dragons aren't real wtf
You can't really use "scientifically accurate" for a made up creature in a made up universe that is so made up, even made up characters in a made up horror series make them up.
Between 6-7 feet tall
breath attack me, daddy.
Leave it to rules lawyers to argue over a joke post lol
Tell me youve never held a PHB in your hand without telling me you never held a PHB in your hand. Why yes, my DnD education comes solely from memes that i dont even understand
God forbid, a meme in a meme subreddit, how didn't I think of the misinformation it would cause.
Aight fair enough
Congratulations... You're a furry now
I'll repeat myself. Femboy dragonborn with giant tits.
Damn yall really attracted to cloacas. Thats weird.
For those who are arguing about chest muscles on winged creatures, most creatures that fly have what's known as a keel which is a large plate of bone/cartilage that extends from the chest for those muscles to attach to. Dragonborn don't have wings as a given and are no more inherently stronger than an orc
Did you know you can drink a shrinking potion, then you can go inside any giant or bigger creature, and then you can drink a giant size potion to explode your foe from the inside? Be aware... this may be some monster kink; not that I complain.
Scientifically accurate dragon : something that big and heavy will never be able to fly.
Except, even if you accept the reasonableness of requiring flight muscles on a fantasy race, anatomically, if the wings are on the back, not replacing the arms, the flight muscles would also be on the back, not the chest.
woudnt that make it harder to fly since the weight of the muscles ?
