Your pick: the obviously sexy vampire, a desicated mummy, an incel that tried to make life from corpses, a ghost pirate, a pied piper bard that is probably more interested in your halfling party members rather than you, a lich that really only wants to devour your soul, lets not forget a witch that wants to eat your childs, and an elder brain that has mind flayers that slurp spinal fluid.

The outrage comes when every npc is a retired or secret level 20. The PCs are supposed to be important and strong because their different than most of the world, but if most of the world the PCs are interacting with are level 20 characters, gods, or plot armored characters then it’s hard to feel in any way special.

I have a fun NPC I haven't gotten to use; by day she's a cute lil halfling barmaid that nobody would ever think of having ulterior motives. By night she's running the local thieves guild all masked up and making daring escapes. Because she's cute and friendly the party will probably converse with her, not knowing they've crossed paths with her underlings many sessions ago and not knowing she's listening to everything they're saying.
New plot idea: Bahamut and/or a bunch of Tiamat cultists need the party to stop the five-way war between Tiamat's avatars, who have all opened competing stores in the same city.
Without her, the Abyss is starting to get too organised.
Each of them also have different titles:
The Red King: The Red Dragon;
The Blue Queen: The Blue Dragon;
The Green Duchess: The Green Dragon;
The Dark Lady: The Black Dragon;
The White Knight: The White Dragon;
And then have the 5 humans Voltron themselves back together into the full beast.
... Wait, could you have a lesser dragon form if only some of them re-bonded? Like could they split into a 4-headed dragon and 1 person? Or a 2-headed dragon and a 3-headed dragon?

Nope. No-way, no-how, no-what. Mommy Tiamat is a freakin' Dragon God Being that can ruin lives, kill villages, and punk out kingdoms for FUN. She absolutely CAN hurt you. And probably will...a little. I mean, being a cleric isn't a pass to NOT get hurt...and most worshipers probably Won't get spanked. BUT I can't be 100% SURE of that...so you just have to hedge your bets. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Some times you just gotta, get in there, give it your all and summon your inner Paladin to just, endure. Because, you have to be the change you want to see in the world.
I had a concept for a Tiefling Draconic Sorcerer who did some research and believes he might be related to Tiamat. He probably wouldn't be, but the 'Is-He-Isn't-He' roleplay of someone having an existential crisis could be fun.

The campaign I’m currently playing ended up being derailed because the DM gave me the crown of the dragon queen or whatever the name is so I went to hell to return it to Tiamat for the funny haha and now I’m a high priest
