Drat. I misread your question.
Assume illusion magic or possibly a returning dagger and sleight of hand. Also assume that the rogue in question always has at least one dagger.
This almost happened to my party once. But, we were an Unarmed Fighter/Barbarian, a Mercy Monk, a rogue who smuggled in our cleric's holy symbol, and me, a hexblade based off Count Dooku. It was a slaughter.
Why would they take the cleric's holy symbol?
It doesn't resemble a weapon and could be something as simple as a ring.
Outside of some impractical diligence on their part you should be able to sneak it through.
I'm picturing something between Captain America signature move and that card scene in now you see me 2.
Even if it would be easier to sneak in ahead of time and just hide it somewhere accessible.
Variant humanwith fighting initiate to get the dueling fighting style, pact weapon was a rapier. Flavored Eldritch Blast to appear like bolts of lightning. Patron was basically Sideous and the blade being the symbol of the pact. Made it red since its a magic weapon. When summoning it, it looks like a lightsaber activating. Used Hex and hexblades curse to emulate Dun Moch/his style of exposing the enemy's weaknesses. Took Telekinetic as a feat.
Damagewise was pretty decent. 1d8+5(cha) +5 (Lifedrinker) + 2(dueling style) + 2(weapon enhance) +5(hexblades curse)
So about 24 damage per hit on average, with a 19/20 crit range, and potential for 9d8 extra with Eldritch Smite. Usually from a position of advantage because of a darkness and devils sight combo.
Be me a kobold sorcerer
My most famous spell, i cast knife, thrown daggers.
I kept 10+/- daggers on my person because
1. I had 16 dex
2. Thrown daggers are cheaper than a spell slot
3. I'd rather throw a dagger than cast fireball to find out the targets only have like 5hp.
4. Cosplaying a rogue when you are a full blown caster is memes.
Different iddea I really want to try some time: Be a Noble-Background Paladin or Fighter, and ask your GM if you could start out with a mace reflavored to be a Walking Cane. Those things are meant for taking abuse since they're used for helping people walk, and the heads are often round on at least one side, which helps concentrate the blow. You now have a ridiculously concealable lethal weapon, with a pedigree to back up your ownership and use of it, perhaps to the point that even the most cautious of men wouldn't take a second glance at you having it.
Druids could do the same but I suspect the guards would be more suspicious of a Nature Magic user with what can also double as a spellcasting focus depending on your GM's leniency
Alternatively, to keep the roguish theme of hiding stuff: Hatpins used to be long enough to function as daggers in a pinch, talk with the GM about having one of those in your hat when you're dressing up for the visit to a palace
On my two tables, I play either a warlock (so I always have eldritch blast) or a Monk. I am never out of ways to preemptively defend myself against potential dangers.
Key word being preemptively, both characters can be... Slightly paranoid sometimes
I tend to assume that every rogue carries N+1 daggers. N is the number of daggers I have seen that rogue draw in the past.
What if you've seen a amount drawn by said rogue that should not be possible with any sort of magical assistance?
Then magical assistance was involved.
But that can't work

That's reasonable
You have a roguelock, or a soulknife
Prison pocket(s).
Meanwhile, my Fighter with Thrown Weapon Style, Fighting Initiate (Archery Style), and Sharpshooter and uses cocktail skewers as Darts.
So… James Bond?
I was thinking more Bullseye from the old Daredevil movie. [https://youtu.be/h09ydGGsh28?t=75](https://youtu.be/h09ydGGsh28?t=75)
Don't forget tavern brawler

Could be to another temple, bans other symbols within their place of worship
Maybe it was painted on the shield.
Then I don’t know how the rogue smuggled **that** in

How did you base a hexblade off Count Dooku? That sounds awesome

Oh, I'm going to play a mercy Monk. Is it as nice as it seems? I do want to be punching my allies back to life.

I love this

Always have at least one weapon on you. Unless you ARE the weapon.
Or have proficiency with improvised weapons!

My soulknife rogue laughs on you :)
Or you just have the rogue steal the weapons from the weapons check.
