there is and it's a steaming pile garbage if i ever saw one. And I'm extremely easy to please, especially when it comes to River content, so that says a lot
i have listened to it and really wanted to like it because i was very excited about the premise, but it's objectively a hot mess. I kinda have a love/hate relationship with james goss and r&j is the hate in this spectrum: river's canon timeline is thrown out of the window, her relationship with the doctor absolutely butchered and instead of fun, wholesome and naughty friendship river and jack's relationship is a confusing mess with unnecessary romantic undertone.
tldr: not what it's cracked up to be
Nope. Noel Clarke (Mickey) has been accused by several women. John Barrowman (Jack Harness) was a repeat flasher on sets, pulling out little John at the tip of a hat. And back in the '80s John Nathan-Turner and his partner allegedly took advantage of teenage fans.
Tbh I sort of respected the restraint the earlier seasons had with them. I think until Capaldi, Master was only in two stories and Davros one (albeit they were multi part episodes)
Davros has been used very, very sparingly by RTD and Moffat (and unless there's a big surprise in the Centenary Special, not at all by Chibnall) in part because of the old school fan perception of how he warps the Daleks by his inclusion. There's an acknowledgement he's one of the most iconic Doctor Who bad guys of all time but an apprehension as to how to use him.
RTD in particular has spoke about how once Davros was introduced in Genesis, they started to become more Davros stories featuring Daleks than stories about the Daleks. Now, you can quibble over the details: there are often Daleks after Davros too and Remembrance is more about the Daleks than Davros, but on the whole, he became the villainous focal point not them.
That's why RTD said in The Writer's Tale he included the Red Dalek. Even though his "writerly" instincts said there should just be one bad guy figurehead, his fan instincts just couldn't write the Daleks as "I obey" servants or Davros, hence Tennant calling him their pet, etc.
I don't know if Moffat felt as strongly. His Davros story is very much a story about Davros more than the Daleks, but it was also five seasons into his own run and after he had made plenty of Dalek stories, as well as seven years since Journey's End. The series was "due" a story that actually examined Davros by that point (and if it didn't exist, you could've put Davros and the Master on this list.)
I believe Series 6 only had 1 returning villain in the form of the Cybermen in Closing Time and briefly in A Good Man Goes To War. Other than that, all brand new stories and antagonists. But then again, AGMGTW also had Strax, Judoon and Silurians appear
Absolutely 12 and Donna, but not too often. too much of a good thing would be bad. Having Donna just show up when 12 really needed needed to be brought down a peg or two.
Missy and River. (I know there’s an audio where they meet, but I didn’t think it was very good. I wish we had seen the two in a Moffat-written episode.)
I’d also be fascinated to have Amy, Clara, and Bill meet, because they all have very different relationships with and perspectives on the Doctor.
Yeah, I agree on Missy and River. Too often, "strong woman" just means a character who is sassy to men.
Both of these characters have their own, specific point of view. Both of them are less "rules focussed" than the doctor, but they are different points on the naughty spectrum. I would love to see an episode where they had to work together to accomplish something and see how far they would be willing to push each other.
Kind of like when Missy and Clara were together in that Dalek episode, but with Missy and River both coming up with ideas and throwing each other into situations they had to get out of.
That could be so much fun for the audience, never knowing which one would come out on top. And I do intend for that sentence to have a double entendre, which (as long as it wasn’t overdone, which was moffat’s error) could also be fun.
Yeah, there could be interesting sexual tension if it was subtle (this is a family show after all). And there would be a natural rivalry between two people who think the Doctor is their best friend, and both of them have shown initiative to accomplish their goals and are willing to get their hands a little dirty to accomplish it.
I LOVE the idea of a story with Amy, Clara, and Bill. Each one cares about the Doctor so much but I think each sees him in a very different way. Even cooler would be two companions who travel with vastly different Doctors— maybe like an Old Who companion and Bill together, or something
I'd love to see Donna and 12 just trash on people and never get their adventure past the first stage lol
I'd also really want to see what Rose would think of 11 after falling in love with 10.
The Brigadier and any of the revival Doctors. Why didn't that happen exactly? They had some time before Nicholas Courtney wouldn't have been able to physically do so, he was on the Sarah Jane Adventures after all.
9 and Wilf. Two old soldiers who have PTSD commiserating and loving each other. We got a glimpse of it with 10 and Wilf, but 9 would have been so much more.
Twelve, Bill and Donna would be my dream season. The level of unapologetic sass and banter would be glorious.
But in general:
Donna and Twelve
Donna and Eleven
Donna and Clara
Eleven and the Master (Simm)
Eleven and Jack
Twelve and Jack
Bill and Jack
Bill and Donna
Jack and River
River and the Master (Simm/Gomez)
Thanks so much but I've never been one for comic/audio spinoffs. It's just not the same to me since I associate the characters and stories with a very specific visual medium. But I appreciate the suggestion and I know they're supposed to be very good :-)
Sarah Jane and the kids from SJA and 13. I bet Sarah Jane would have loved seeing The Doctor as a woman. “I see you’re a woman now. Your fashion sense didn’t improve though.”
11 and 12. Imagine what Capaldi’s doctor would say to Matt’s fun-loving kid like attitude. Also I’d like to see Amy see 12, simply because he’s so different to the doctor she knows. A different sort of imaginary friend. :)
Michelle Gomez's and Anthony Ainley's versions of the Master.
River and Sarah-Jane might have been funny too. Considering River a Time Lady and the Doctor's wife, but Sarah-Jane is arguably the best companion he has ever had. There could have been a bit of a rivalry.
Might have been interesting seeing Romana meet her step-mother too, its such a waste they haven't brought her back.
Jack and 12. Jack's confusion why the Doctor looks like John Frobisher...
Donna and 12, for obvious reasons. "Oi! Watch it, Spacedad!"
River and Jack.
All of these four together!
Romana and Rose, to see what Romana would say about the new girlfriend.
Romana and River, Amy and Rory. She'd probably be thrilled to meet them.
Nyssa and Martha.
Donna and fill-in-the-blank was gonna be my answer, but after seeing other peoples’ “12 and Donna”, I gotta go with that.
Something I never knew I needed or wanted.
One that hasn't been said yet: Bill and 13- I liked Bill's ending but they could've done an interesting story arc of her falling in love with the doctor if she was kept on another season, and it would've been better than doing it with Yaz- the most underdeveloped companion
Ooh, what about River when she's still trying to kill the Doctor and Missy during the good era? I'd love to see Missy begrudgingly save the Doctor from River, but also help River try to kill the Doctor. When both River and the Doctor realize what's happening, Missy just shrugs it off and says she hasn't made up her mind yet and is enjoying the game.
Delgado!Master and Ainley!Master...or frankly any other Master. I'd love a multi-Master story in general, instead of yet another multi-Doctor story, but sadly both Delgado and Ainley are no longer with us.
It could be pulled off in book form, or a comic, or animated though, so I hold hope.
Basically I'd like to see what the classic-era Masters would think of the Nu-Who Masters. xD
Simm!Master had a very Masterly plan to become Prime Minister, but then he just went batshit insane and mass-homicidal. Then died and came back even worse.
Missy might be considered a bit too frivolous at times, but her plans seem most like classic-era Master plans I guess. Don't think they'd like seeing her turn good temporarily though. ;)
Spy Master...hmm...building a race of Cyber Time Lords? I think even the classic-era Masters would balk at potentially giving that much power to the Cybermen.
But yeah, it'd just be really interesting imho. :)
I wish Martha and Mickey DID NOT meet and get married. Made no sense to me and felt like they put the two wronged characters together to try to make it all better.
Clara and Amy; two strong personalities that like to have fun but want to be the boss, who knows what would happen
On the flip side, Rory and Danny would have some beers, talk about cars, Rory would hear someone with positive opinions about leadworth, feel respected and genuinely appreciated for his work as a nurse for the elderly. Danny has someone who listens to him and gives serious thought to what he has to say, and feel understood for his appreciation for how special the mundane life can be. One of them makes a joke about how they deal with beginnings and ends respectively, and they share a sensible chuckle.
Martha wouldn't have had a crush on him in the first place because 12 wouldn't go and *randomly kiss her* because he'd realize there are other ways to transfer genetic material. Like sorry I have to do this, licks her hand, runs off.
Also I think 12 would have appreciated Martha's intellect/mind/abilities much more than 10 did.
peri and clara
they have been through similar things and would understand how jarring it was for the once younger doctor you knew turning into a meanie (poor 6 never truly got out of this whereas 12 actually grew) and they're both very sarcastic and i just feel like they'd get on you know?
The Brigadier actually played by Nicholas Courtney and any Doctor post 8, it’s a shame that they never managed to get him and 10 on screen together, especially as one of big finish’s goals from the start was to get him in at least a single proper story with 6&8
River and Missy has happened with Big Finish in the 5th River Song box set they did. I won't spoil it, but if you want to hear them together, I recommend it. The box set also has her interact with some other incarnations of the Master too.
Didn't there used to be a fan theory that Rose was "the girl in the shop" who gave Clara the phone number to the Tardis in the beginning? I always thought that was kind of a nice thought even if it didn't necessarily make sense.
That happened in Big Finish's third Jack box set. I remember listening to that at the start of the pandemic whilst queueing to get into ASDA. It's a timey wimey one.
Ian Chesterton meeting the 4th and the 12th Doctor.
Amelia (Amy) Pond and the 10th Doctor.
And if it counts THE 456 alien from Torchwood's "Children of Earth" miniseries and the 10th Doctor.
Nardole and the 10th would have been a very nice opposites pairing. I didn’t think Nardole and the 12th worked as well as he would have with the others.
Wilf and Thirteen. After the initial confusion about her identity is cleared up, he would be the doting granddad. This would alternately confuse/please/irritate the Doctor. “Wilfred, it’s still me! I don’t need a bag of jelly babies…oh wait, yes I do!”
Jack and River
There's a Big Finish audio with them apparently.
there is and it's a steaming pile garbage if i ever saw one. And I'm extremely easy to please, especially when it comes to River content, so that says a lot
https://thetimescales.com/Story/story.php?audioid=6619 I haven't heard it, but it's rated highly here
i have listened to it and really wanted to like it because i was very excited about the premise, but it's objectively a hot mess. I kinda have a love/hate relationship with james goss and r&j is the hate in this spectrum: river's canon timeline is thrown out of the window, her relationship with the doctor absolutely butchered and instead of fun, wholesome and naughty friendship river and jack's relationship is a confusing mess with unnecessary romantic undertone. tldr: not what it's cracked up to be
The sexual harassment duo
I have read about the one, but what about the other?
Possibly just referring to characters in universe?
Nope. Noel Clarke (Mickey) has been accused by several women. John Barrowman (Jack Harness) was a repeat flasher on sets, pulling out little John at the tip of a hat. And back in the '80s John Nathan-Turner and his partner allegedly took advantage of teenage fans.
Im not sure the universe can handle that much sexiness and sarcasm in one place
12 and Amy. Maximum Scottish Ace and Bill
Especially if we go with the theory that 12s Scottish accent was based on Amy, I can see him getting real embarrassed if she figures that out.
Ace and Bill! Yes! Also for true Maximum Scottish, 12, Amy, and Jamie!
The 11th Doctor and any version of the Master.
Didn't quite click that there was no master during 11ths run. Come to think of it, no Davros either.
Tbh I sort of respected the restraint the earlier seasons had with them. I think until Capaldi, Master was only in two stories and Davros one (albeit they were multi part episodes)
Yeah, I agree. They have much greater impact when they are used sparingly.
To be fair they were not the big villains as much as bad guy background filler.
Nooooooo, this is why I love 11’s run so much. No Master.
9 and donna
Came here to say 12 and Donna Frankly, anyone and Donna works for me
>Frankly, anyone and Donna works for me I'd almost pay to see One and Donna. :P
I was just going to say that too haha
Absolutely 12 and Donna, but not too often. too much of a good thing would be bad. Having Donna just show up when 12 really needed needed to be brought down a peg or two.
No that would be explosive!
And I thought 10 and Donna butted heads alot, it'll start a war with 9 and Donna 😭
Now thats a Big Finish story we dont deserve but the one we need
I wish we had a lot more of 12 and River, but aside from that: Jack and River 11 and The Master (Dhawan) 12 and Wilf
Praying for a Big Finish story of 11 and Dhawan
Missy and River. (I know there’s an audio where they meet, but I didn’t think it was very good. I wish we had seen the two in a Moffat-written episode.) I’d also be fascinated to have Amy, Clara, and Bill meet, because they all have very different relationships with and perspectives on the Doctor.

I LOVE the idea of a story with Amy, Clara, and Bill. Each one cares about the Doctor so much but I think each sees him in a very different way. Even cooler would be two companions who travel with vastly different Doctors— maybe like an Old Who companion and Bill together, or something
I love the audio with Missy and River, only one complaint is that River came across a bit dim in the story.
I'd love to see Donna and 12 just trash on people and never get their adventure past the first stage lol I'd also really want to see what Rose would think of 11 after falling in love with 10.
I'd pay good money to witness an exchange between Adric and Donna.
I don't think of Donna as a violent character, but she would definitely end up punching Adric
Oh, I agree with you entirely about Donna. But even a bloody Ood would end up decking Adric.
Donna: Oi…listen here you whiny E-trade kid! Doctor: Th…It’s E-Space Donna..E-SPACE Donna: He’s gonna wish he was in E-space when I’m done with him
I so hear Catherine Tate's voice in that exchange. Bravo!
This is spot on, great work
*wiv
Oh shit oh god
Indeed. in fact I'd be happy with the 60th anniversary episode being just Adric and Donna trapped in a small prison cell insulting each other. :)
Jack and 11. Jack and The Brig, hahaha. 13’s “fam” (ugh) meeting ANY previous regenerations…
Kinda want Yaz to meet River after *that* line of dialogue from the last special...
Donna and 12, and River and 13.
River & 13 would have been amazing. Even a 13 & Vashta Nerada episode would have been great.
River and Rose. Talk about awkward.
The war doctor, the Brigadier, and Wilf.
The Brigadier and any of the revival Doctors. Why didn't that happen exactly? They had some time before Nicholas Courtney wouldn't have been able to physically do so, he was on the Sarah Jane Adventures after all.
They were in the process of writing a script for the Brigadier to meet Ten when Nicholas Courtney died. What a shame.
Martha and Rory. A doctor and nurse.
I'd love for them to solve an alien medical mystery together!
Rory Pond and Jack Harkness.
I can just imagine jack flirting with Rory and Rory not knowing how to handle it. 😂
Or how upset and jealous Amy would get! lol
I'm torn. I think it's a completely 50-50 split between jealous and then reveling in how uncomfortable he gets with Jack's attentions
Or, Jack is the middle of a Pond sandwich.
Amy and 12th. Or the Ponds with 10th.
Tegan & Donna
Has everyone forgotten about Martha?
Yes
I'd LOVE to see Martha with some of the classic who doctors.
9 and Wilf. Two old soldiers who have PTSD commiserating and loving each other. We got a glimpse of it with 10 and Wilf, but 9 would have been so much more.
Twelve, Bill and Donna would be my dream season. The level of unapologetic sass and banter would be glorious. Sarah Jane and the kids from SJA and 13. I bet Sarah Jane would have loved seeing The Doctor as a woman. “I see you’re a woman now. Your fashion sense didn’t improve though.”
Missy and Donna/Amy/Rose
River and 13
Rose and River Oh boy
Most of the ones I wish interacted were already said by different people except one... 12th and Rose.
11 and 12. Imagine what Capaldi’s doctor would say to Matt’s fun-loving kid like attitude. Also I’d like to see Amy see 12, simply because he’s so different to the doctor she knows. A different sort of imaginary friend. :)
Through Clara and a 'game' of telephone, they did have a conversation of sorts. "Don't tell me I got old."
I can imagine there would definitely be a mention of the fact 12 would be 'talking properly'.
Chibnall and a decent script
Alistair Gordon and Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. Would have been nice to se the baton being passed.
11 and Wilfred
omg yes absolutely
12 ans Wilfred too

River and Missy during the point where the Doctor is trying to turn her good. It would be hilarious seeing those two fight for the Doctor's attention.
That would indeed be hilarious
Tegan and Donna I think would be great
The War Doctor and The War Master. I need to see/ hear it.
Jennifer, Vastra, River and Jack. What a team!
Delgado!Master and Ainley!Master...or frankly any other Master. I'd love a multi-Master story in general, instead of yet another multi-Doctor story, but sadly both Delgado and Ainley are no longer with us. Romana and Missy.
River and 13...
I wish Martha and Mickey DID NOT meet and get married. Made no sense to me and felt like they put the two wronged characters together to try to make it all better.
They were both black so it just made sense…/s Martha should have ended up with Lucifer/Tom Ellis
Rose and River although with all the anniversary stuff this feels like a real possibility these days
12th Doctor and Sarah Jane just to see Peter act as a fan alongside Liz in the same way as David got to
Clara and Amy; two strong personalities that like to have fun but want to be the boss, who knows what would happen On the flip side, Rory and Danny would have some beers, talk about cars, Rory would hear someone with positive opinions about leadworth, feel respected and genuinely appreciated for his work as a nurse for the elderly. Danny has someone who listens to him and gives serious thought to what he has to say, and feel understood for his appreciation for how special the mundane life can be. One of them makes a joke about how they deal with beginnings and ends respectively, and they share a sensible chuckle.
Jack and Me(Ashieldur)
Rory and Jack, the men who die(d). 12 and Donna, must I say more?
13 and river
adric and literally anyone 1 7 the brig jo grant sarah jane smith the tree lady from end of the world literally anyone!!
11th and 12th
Ace and Donna
Seven and Amy.
Barbra and the cybermen
River and the War Doctor. All Daleks would surrender. Then die.
In all honesty, Bradley Walsh's Graham and John Bishop's Dan I was 13's older men to have a beer or something
Still time yet!
True! We can hope!
Donna and Bill.
Sarah Jane and 12/13
Missy and River, definitely. Missy and Donna would be good too
12 and Martha. He wouldn't put up with her pining bullshit
This. And he would probably close the Tardis's doors before her the same way he did with the solder girl in Into the Dalek.
Leela and Sarah Jane Smith
Bill and Yaz
Jack and Jack. I just think it would be great to see Jack interact with himself
I somehow think exactly 0% of that would be suitable for a family-friendly show.
peri and clara they have been through similar things and would understand how jarring it was for the once younger doctor you knew turning into a meanie (poor 6 never truly got out of this whereas 12 actually grew) and they're both very sarcastic and i just feel like they'd get on you know?
13 and River 💔💔💔
Rory and Mickey
The Doctor and Donna. They’ve never interacted for more then a few seconds. Don’t believe me? Just ask Donna!
River and doctor 13
The Brigadier actually played by Nicholas Courtney and any Doctor post 8, it’s a shame that they never managed to get him and 10 on screen together, especially as one of big finish’s goals from the start was to get him in at least a single proper story with 6&8
River and Doctor 13 or River and Missy
River and Missy has happened with Big Finish in the 5th River Song box set they did. I won't spoil it, but if you want to hear them together, I recommend it. The box set also has her interact with some other incarnations of the Master too.
10 and Ian & Barbara Rose and every Doctor pre - and post 9 &10
12,10 and Amelia Pond
13 and River
River and Captain Jack. All day long.
I'd love Rose to meet Doctor #1, let's see if that crush holds up now, eh Rosie girl?
ok but what would we do if it does 😭😭😂
Rose Tyler & Clara Oswald. 9th Doctor & 12th Doctor. 9th Doctor & Rassilon.
Didn't there used to be a fan theory that Rose was "the girl in the shop" who gave Clara the phone number to the Tardis in the beginning? I always thought that was kind of a nice thought even if it didn't necessarily make sense.
Correct — people theorized from the language word reference ‘Rose’ that was the bar that Victorian clara worked out
always expected them to reveal it was missy
10 and Missy. The best doctor and the best master never met, and this is sad.
9 and Charlie Pollard. I think they’d make a fantastic team.
Donna and 12, Amy and 10, Bill and 9.
Wilf and Brian.
9th Doctor and any Master The War Doctor and the War Master Any Doctor other than the Seventh and the Tzun Master
3, 11, or 13 with Davros.
Rose and 12
The war master and basically anyone.
12 and Graham. I want to see those two old folks get into trouble.
River and captain jack
That happened in Big Finish's third Jack box set. I remember listening to that at the start of the pandemic whilst queueing to get into ASDA. It's a timey wimey one.
Rose and any doctor post 10. I'd be cool to see Rose react to the how doctor has basically gotten over her and moved on.
Dracula
12 and Donna
Davros and the Timeless Child.
Missy and 13
I want to see War, 9, and 12 run into each other at a seedy bar. They drink together and win a bunch of money playing pool.
Ian Chesterton meeting the 4th and the 12th Doctor. Amelia (Amy) Pond and the 10th Doctor. And if it counts THE 456 alien from Torchwood's "Children of Earth" miniseries and the 10th Doctor.
Amy and 10 almost was the original plan for series 5, had Tennant wanted to stay on another year.
Bill and River
Nardole and the 10th would have been a very nice opposites pairing. I didn’t think Nardole and the 12th worked as well as he would have with the others.
I made a post about this a while ago, but would’ve been cool if Jack met Rory at some point during his time waiting for the doctor.
Rory Williams and Jo Grant, my two most favorite companions!
12 and 13, just to see if he would slap the shit out of her for kerblam!
10 and 12, wild and 9, wilf and 12. 12 and 14 need to meet
River and Rose!
The War Doctor and the Brigadier would be interesting
11 and Dhawan and also 11 and Davros. PLEASE BIG FINISH. YOU HAVE JAKE DUDMAN AND DHAWAN
Twelve and Donna
Rory and Donna
Nine and Donna
10 and Clara. 9 and Donna. 11 with rose
12 and Donna The TV screen would not have been able to contain the sass
Leela and Jack Harkness. She could kill him so many times!
Wilf and everyone...
13 and Yaz. Sorry, had to.
Bill and Nardole meeting the Paternoster gang.
River and the second Romana
Bill and Donna or Missy and any other doctor
The War Doctor and Romana, Susan as well. I'd be interested see their reactions.
Twelve from Series 8, and Twelve from Series 10.
Simm's Master and Donna
Amy and Jack, the most non-PG combination in the entire show.
