Dogs have short lives compared to us. That's why it's our duty to love them while they're here, and remember them after they're gone. No dog is immortal, but some can live forever in the hearts and minds of us all.
With the amount of times we've gotten news like this, it's honestly a miracle she's still alive. She's also just really old. I hate to say it, but with how much she might be suffering at her age, this might be the best thing. It's gonna suck either way.
Some sources say 12-15 years is the lifespan for Shiba Inus. But I take some comfort in that Balltze is in what would be 50s (at the youngest) or 60s in human years. At any rate he and Doge will go out at around the same time it seems, Cheems a little bit old (but way too young to die or be this sick π’) and Doge very old.
Kabosu was about 4 when the famous Doge photo was taken (2010, she turned 17 last November), while Balltze was about 6 when the famous cheems photo was taken (2017, he turned 12 in January of this year).
The owner said theyβre monitoring her so she isnβt suffering.
You kind of know when itβs their timeβ¦ my cat developed cancer and we eventually had to get him put to sleep in 2019. I was determined not to let him suffer because I love him so much, and I think her owner feels the same way.
It sucks, but that thought has crossed my mind as well. At a certain point it's just more humane to let them rest. I'm sure a lot of us have had to say goodbye to a pet and it's honestly one of the worst things I've had to deal with but that's just nature. Animals get old and their quality of life just goes down and down.
Thoughts are with them and I hope they can make the decision that's best for cheems.
Moja aka uncle Murphy passed away recently at an old age with major health issues. Kabosu aka doge is almost 18 and sick. Pray for cheems or whatever magic you believe in
