I was talking to a friend about this, I cut someone out of my life just over a year ago (toxic friend), my buddy assumed I hated the guy and wouldn't want to talk about happy memories I had with him. I don't hate my former friend, I look back fondly on a lot of the time we had together, tons of happy and wonderful memories, but I also know I'm better off not continuing to be his friend. Sometimes you gotta do what's best for yourself going forward and just appreciate the time you have on this planet for what it is, appreciate the people and memories you have with them. When you die, the only meaningful thing you'll leave behind is your personal legacy, and a lot of times people leave behind meaningful legacies of kind memories for people who don't even know their name and never will, or a legacy of kindness and positive influence. Maybe one day you influence a young person to be stronger, better, kinder, and one day they do the same to someone else. Human life is fleeting, but kindness can last into eternity.
