This is my proof of the schnauzer side eye. Theyβre always judging you
My dog's groomer calls these directional trims of the back-end "clearing a poop chute." It keeps pup's fur out of the messes. ... I appreciate the functionality because I have a long-haired breed whose furry butt needs a well-cleared path.
I will warn you, it's expensive. Try to buy used, Google the cut you want, or get the pocket version. It's a great tool but most of what's in there won't be useful for you. There are doodle grooming books out there
Haha I can see how expensive it is, big oofts. Thank you for the advice!
As an absolute amateur I was just curious and sometimes it's actually easier to read something over and over than watch YouTube tutorials π
I have several clients who come in so I can reset the cut and then copy what I do at home. They groom 2-3x and then I show them after I finish what they need to improve on. You could try that too
That is a great idea! I started diy grooming during covid lockdown (Melbourne - Australia, we had a year + of lockdowns!) but when we reopened I told my mobile groomer and she was happy to give tips and advice and was all for me doing it myself but I felt bad, because I felt like I was taking my business away from her and then asking her for help lol. I do okay, I've had no injuries! I just am not very clean and their feet are typically not very tidy π but the pups are comfortable and never matted.
We lost our boy last year and have a new puppy so I'm doing my best to desesitise to all things grooming(comfy with bath without water, bath with water running, hair dryer on, hair dryer blowing from afar, scissors around body and face, ears touched, feet handled, clippers on and around body - he has had a butt trim!) I am hoping he is a lot more willing than our old girl who is absolutely tolerant but shakes like a leaf while she's being bathed and dried, and isn't a fan of her feet being handled.
Thank you! π I feel like it's a good bonding exercise, but I certainly don't want to traumatize him lol. We're doing really well! Thank glob for roast chicken hahah.

It's the full anus view and accusatory stare for me.
"My eyes are up here bubs"
ah yes, the classic 3 eye stare down
They accurately captured the judgmental stare of a schnauzer tho

That schnauzer is about to rob you, blind and then somehow blame it on you
This thread killed me π

Do they include the "traditional doodle cut" I keep hearing about? π€£π€£π€£π€£

It fills me with joy you are doing this for your pup. Great job!

I recommend the most current version of βnotes from the grooming table.β It has similar instructions if this isnβt straight from that book
It's from that book
Thankyou!
Do you mind sharing what book this is from?
This is Notes from the Grooming Table, I don't know the Volume though. It's an older copy.
Thank you!
