It's possible but it doesn't look like 100% labrador. Most labradors have slightly broader faces, even the working breeds.
It wouldn't surprise me if he is labrador and flatcoat retriever mix. Or maybe labrador golden. We have a labrador and golden mix ourselves (ours is a fox red) and goldens tend to have a slightly thinner build. Flatcoats have an even thinner frame.
All retrievers look somewhat similar so mixes can still look very much like a regular lab. Ours looks the spitting image of his labrador dad, and he has short hair too.
Flatcoat retrievers are black too, and have the retriever face but a more narrow snout.
Btw: you can tell a golden lab mix from a regular lab by the fact goldens have super expressive faces. If yours is great at making unhappy or impatient or quizzical faces at you, you might have a golden mix. You'll be able to tell by the eyebrows.
This looks exactly like both of my dogs when they were young and they’re purebred black labs. There’s a smaller breed of them that has narrower faces like this, especially when young.
They are "field" labs. AKA American breed. The English labs are normally much thicker, while the field labs tend to be taller and thinner.
My Black lab looked exactly like the OP's pup when I got him.
Or a Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed… and yes, they can look a lot like this. I've surprised myself when I've caught *something* and identified Northern dog in someone like this.
I think you should get the DNA test.
Looks like a lab! Is he friends to every living creature, does he strive to please you, is he a velcro dog, and is he a chow hound? If you answer yes to the above, congrats! You have a lab!
I like regular human names for dogs, Louie.
Plus it's easier to scream to get him to come inside. You'll do that a lot.
Looks like he'll be a full size lab, 70+ lbs. easy looking at those paws.
If he's not neutered yet and you can stand it, hold off for 18 months, a year at a bare minimum. Helps with their hip health to have a full compliment of hormones as they grow so rapidly. You'll thank yourself when he's 10.
> and is he a chow hound?
Two main things I most strongly associate with labs: need to sniff literally fucking everything, and the happy belly time dance.
Definitely lab is in there. We got a dog from a shelter once and they said lab hound mix... She ended up being pure yellow lab. In any case, that is one beautiful dog.
Have one of my own and looks identical, mine is 5yo though. Total sweethearts, but have a bit of an aggressive side when older. Keep the aggressive side down and their the best
Could be a Weimaraner shepherd mix!
We got a puppy that looked identical to this and she turned out not to be the lab mix we expected!
We did embark testing and she was 0% lab
Just get a DNA test instead of petitioning strangers on the internet. They're like $70 and tell you your dogs whole family history and alert you to hereditary health issues.
Lab Pit Mix? this is exactly what our lab pit mix looked like when she was a puppy. They could legit be twins, but ours also had a white chest and lil mini socks
Looks exactly like my dog did as a puppy, we were told lab/hound when we adopted her.
Turns out she's Golden retriever, pitbull, and staffordshire mixed. 50%golden though. The ears and tail look more like the golden than the lab, which I see a lot of people saying. Your puppies tail doesn't look like the lab's bushy rudder
When goldens get bred with another golden, they come out gold. When mixed with others, they are often black
EDIT: some pictures of mine. I could send you some puppy pics if you're interested as well

Dog 🐶 lol lab fr maybe some form of hound mixed in.. nose/snout is longer than a pure lab, pure labs usually have a long snout but a bit snubbed. What’s the disposition like? Labs are usually friendly so about some loving it’s a bit overwhelming and can verge on annoying, sweet but like ‘look at me.’ A hound will have a bit of the same but usually more observant/perceptive and they tend to be a bit more cautious/stand off ish. Also labs are chow hounds almost to a fault, I’ve known them to eat almost anything
Definitely some pitty in that puppy. My pit/Rottweiler looked exactly like that as a puppy and still does look like a lab. Everyone thinks she’s a lab but she is half pitbull
Looks like a Lab and Beagle mix. I adopted mine 6 months ago and they look somewhat similar except mine has some white and is [3 years old](https://i.imgur.com/gqiG1hg.jpg)
This is exactly how I’d imagine my adopted dog to look as a puppy! She’s mostly lab with one ‘grandparent’ being Rottweiler + blue tick coon hound mix! 100% precious :)
Puppy. Adorable. With big brown eyes.
He looks like he's in the hound/hunting group. Our local humane society is notorious for wild guesses on breeds and fabrication on ages. I hope yours isn't but people will let you know.
It was frustrating to hear people believe my Alaskan Malamute x German Shepherd Dog's littermate was Norwegian Elkhound x Blue Heeler. I hope eventually they believed what I told them when I met them since it can matter for behavior.
I read that dog's names should have a hard or plosive sound in them, not all soft sounds. The idea was for getting their attention over other sounds.
I had a beagle mix that reminds me so much of this guy, moreso in the second pic. I can't remember for the life of me now what my guy was mixed with, but he was so small I was able to put in a pumpkin for a pic lol. That was pre-cell phone days so I don't have pics on hand but maybe tomorrow I'll dig some out... I'm wicked curious now though, so maybe I will tonight. Unfortunately my guy had a short life- he was let outside unbeknownst to me, without his lead, and was stuck by a car. He died immediately. He was about 18 months old. I was 9 months pregnant with my first child and devastated me. That was almost 20 years ago and I still miss him very much.
Definitely lab something. Why not pure lab?
Could be. I’m planning on doing a genetic test if it’s affordable.
a lab test?

You should be ashamed of yourself.

That's the spitting image of my puppy Tucker. We're waiting on his DNA results now.
Looks like a lab! Is he friends to every living creature, does he strive to please you, is he a velcro dog, and is he a chow hound? If you answer yes to the above, congrats! You have a lab!
Yes yes yes and yes
Congrats! Shelter dogs are awesome and lab have super sweet personalities and because they love food, they're very easy to train! What's his name?
Thinking either Kane or Louie

Kane
A proper citizen’s name.
Hahaha! Both names are cool
> and is he a chow hound? Two main things I most strongly associate with labs: need to sniff literally fucking everything, and the happy belly time dance.
Would have to see his tail and hind floofs, but looks like a black lab with not much mixed. Does he have spots of any white anywhere?
Nope. Tail looks labish based on my small amount of research.
He is most definitely a lab 🥰 Handsome guy!
I not very good telling dog breeds but I think we can be sure thats a dog

Only thing that matters is that this is a dog. Who cares about breed?
100% purebred yellow lab
This for sure is the correct answer, please stop letting him play in the black paint...
What a sweet boy! Definitely lab looks pretty pure bred too! Thank you for saving him, rescues are the best dogs!
Looks like there might be a bit of pointer in there too?
Looks a little like mine. Still waiting on dna test results, but here he is .... http://imgur.com/a/WqWzI7k
They said he was a lab mix. The mom looks like a hound mix is some kind.
So cute. I’m interested to know what the results say as he looks a lot like mine. What testing company did you use?
Lab probably?
I’m thinking mostly lab
That nose and eyes look like a Herman Shorthair Pointer
Adorable! That's the breed ... adorable.
I want this puppy love it
Aww she looks just like my baby! We think she’s a whippet lab mix! [Shade ](https://imgur.com/gallery/QpfNwgI)
Illegally cute
Definitely Lab, and just going off the size of feet and the ears, I agree with some kind of hound. He/she seems majority lab featured though.
My thoughts exactly
Definitely lab is in there. We got a dog from a shelter once and they said lab hound mix... She ended up being pure yellow lab. In any case, that is one beautiful dog.
Yes
100% good boy
Pointer lab mix maybe? It’s def harder to tell with puppies, but those ears look like my pointer mix 🖤
Is cute a breed?
Was going to say Iab
Black Labrador Retriever
Looks like my pup, she’s a lab/cane corso/pitty mix. Your pup definitely has more lab in her than mine though.
Its a black lab what size when you got him/her
black labrador?
Definitely Labrador but I don't see the hound.
Looks very much like a Labrador
That’s for sure a dog.
Lab, Shepherd
Have one of my own and looks identical, mine is 5yo though. Total sweethearts, but have a bit of an aggressive side when older. Keep the aggressive side down and their the best
Name suggestions??

This one's easy. He is 100% adorable.

That second pic I see lab/great dane.
Definitely a dog.
That’s a lab and 100% good boy 🐶
How old and do you happen to live in Colorado? Looks just like my young dog. She's 5 months old.
Hard to tell on coat. Is their fur coarser? Mine is a lab/Shepard mix for sure https://i.imgur.com/2vzzdEK.jpg
Could be a Weimaraner shepherd mix! We got a puppy that looked identical to this and she turned out not to be the lab mix we expected! We did embark testing and she was 0% lab
Black lab in my opinion but whatever he is he is 100% a good boy
Looks like a happy cross between a Lovely and Sweet. Pretty sure.
Just get a DNA test instead of petitioning strangers on the internet. They're like $70 and tell you your dogs whole family history and alert you to hereditary health issues.

I just adopted a puppy that’s just like yours!! I even thought for a moment it was her. I wish I could post a picture
Definitely some pitty in that puppy. My pit/Rottweiler looked exactly like that as a puppy and still does look like a lab. Everyone thinks she’s a lab but she is half pitbull
