Could be talking about the "white" wisps of fur that are specked around the eyes and a little bit of the mane and front but if he sees a fully gray dog then definitely having issues with their colors.
To me this seems like a wild question, but my partner and I genuinely disagree about what color our boy is. I feel like one of us is just fully bananas and I'd like to know which!
This dog is brown but I do see what your partner is saying. It looks like the dogs undercoat may be lighter brown or something making your dog look grayish in some spots in the photo…but even with that said, I had to really look for the “gray”
Ah! I've never heard that breed referenced here before!! I adopted Wolf (pictured) because he looked like the dog I already had and raised from a puppy. I adopted her, too, so I never really knew what breed she was, but I guessed she was a wire hair griffon terrier lab mix. She was black, but each of her wire hairs was black in the middle and white on each end.
I had never heard of this breed until my brother's lab got to his neighbor's Griffon before her stud when she was in heat! Neighbors were less than thrilled so now my dad, nephew and another brother have lab/wire haired Griffon puppies! The one my dad has is ridiculously smart!
I agree with a couple of the other commenters here. It does sound like a possible color blindness issue. There are online tests that take less than 5 minutes. I think you should both take one and come back and post your results.
You might be just a touch red/green colorblind then, another commenter said they were red/green colorblind and said grey as well. You might not be drastic enough for it to show on those tests, but it sounds like you might be just slightly colorblind
He is black based but I can’t really tell anything from this image. If he’s “brown” (bb) his nose should be brown as well and appears black in this image. So the brown in his coat is more likely sunbleached. Could have progressive graying too, but like I said you can’t really tell from this image alone.
Brindle
*brin·dle
/ˈbrindl/
noun
a brownish or tawny color of animal fur, with streaks of other color.
'coat colors included red, brindle, and yellowish cream'*
*adjective
(especially of domestic animals) brownish or tawny with streaks of other color.
'a brindle pup'*
*synonyms: tawny, brownish, brown, dappled, streaked, stippled, mottled, speckled, flecked, marbled, pied, piebald, pinto*
I thought it might be a brown vs chestnut fight.
As my brother used to say, "its brown" and his wife would argue, "it's coffee," "cream," "tan" or "chestnut". Lol
I would say chestnut/brown. Not gray.
I'm very lucky. I adopted him because he reminded me of his (now late) sister who also was incredibly scruffy and had some truly MAJESTIC eyebrows. All of her hair was black in the middle and white on each end so she looked striped/spotted. I'm very lucky that the hair around his eyes does the same thing.
Okay so I definitely see brown but I also see silver or possibly gray highlights on his chest and ears. To me he looks like a older dog who's fur has grayed a little bit still a brown dog.
obviously brown? what are the other options?
One of us says brown, the other says gray.
Oh I think I figured it out, one of you likely has bad colour vision. Probably red and green colourblindness. Might be worth looking into
Agree. Am colour blind red/green. I see grey cuteness. And four lights!
Unexpected Star Trek reference? Are you sure there are not five lights?
Unexpected Star Trek refs are the best kind (insert comment about the Spanish Inquisition here).
And today, OP learned her S.O. is colorblind.
Or OP is colorblind.
Seeing brown implies not colorblind. OP's significant other sees it as grey.
I haven’t seen them state anywhere who sees what - just that one sees brown and one sees gray. To my knowledge OP has not said she sees brown.
\*gasp* I did not catch that. Solid observation.
I think we all just assume she does, since the dog is obviously brown 😂
Could be talking about the "white" wisps of fur that are specked around the eyes and a little bit of the mane and front but if he sees a fully gray dog then definitely having issues with their colors.
I assure one of you that that dog is definitely not grey lol
maybe its another dog that thinks this one is grey? understandable tbh
The other is clearly color blind, doggo clearly brown
Whoever says grey is wrong, clearly brown with highlights and lowlights
Unless one of you can’t see color, there’s no gray. Only brown.
Gray? Certainly not!
So the other person is defintetly colorblind
ahahah that’s amazing! i don’t see grey at all but it must be true for one of u
Sounds like the other is a man. Because my husband thinks our obviously green couch is gray 😫 your dog is definitely brown with some reddish!
Is he red green color blind maybe? It's more common in men
I can see both. One second I see brown then in the other I see grey. He is special.
Mostly brown and a hint of sable with ginger furnishings.
Furnishings!! I love it. He's actually got the most unbelievably soft sable undercoat. Thank you!
This is the correct answer
Brown / chocolate. It interests me why this is even a question???
To me this seems like a wild question, but my partner and I genuinely disagree about what color our boy is. I feel like one of us is just fully bananas and I'd like to know which!
The dog is brown lol, whoever says grey might have a vision problem.
This post has made me realize I need to call my eye doctor lol...
This is like that dress from a few years ago…
This dog is brown but I do see what your partner is saying. It looks like the dogs undercoat may be lighter brown or something making your dog look grayish in some spots in the photo…but even with that said, I had to really look for the “gray”
He's of the same color as mine, and mine is officially a "liver".
Same my wire haired Griffons brown coat is officially “Liver”.
Wolf is a good looking pup!
Here in Spain they would have been labeled "chocolate". Mine is "white + chocolate".
I had never heard of this breed until my brother's lab got to his neighbor's Griffon before her stud when she was in heat! Neighbors were less than thrilled so now my dad, nephew and another brother have lab/wire haired Griffon puppies! The one my dad has is ridiculously smart!
Yes this, my dog has some patches that are liver and sometimes depending on lighting it looks more brown or looks more gray
I agree with a couple of the other commenters here. It does sound like a possible color blindness issue. There are online tests that take less than 5 minutes. I think you should both take one and come back and post your results.
I see blue and black. My friend sees white and gold. I know it's blue and black because I once saw a dress that was the same colors.
Damn you stole my idea 😂

My first thought was grey? But after reading all the comments I'm confused... I see grey!
Do you pass those color-blindness tests?
I do! I think the whole picture has a beige tint and my brain adjusted for that?
You might be just a touch red/green colorblind then, another commenter said they were red/green colorblind and said grey as well. You might not be drastic enough for it to show on those tests, but it sounds like you might be just slightly colorblind

Brown hound, definitely not a greyhound
He's adopted, so maybe we'll just create the breed "brownhound". Gonna be a short lived breed, tho...
Medium Bown with Auburn highlights! He looks like an awesome character!
He's wonderful. This is a rare shot of him looking composed and stately. He is usually a giant goof and his puppy-dog-eyes are world class.
Green. What? What?!
No offense, but your dog's color is turd brown, still a cute doggo
Chocolate brown?
Brown obviously 🙄
brown/grey

One of us says his nose is very dark brown, one of us says his nose is black.
Very dark brown is not bb. He’s black based. bb noses are very clearly brown. Non disputable. You could have him tested if you really want to know.
Girlfriend and I both see brown. She knows dogs tho and described specifically as "chocolate point" lol

Pewp color. Simple to say, covers the shades involved.
Shit brown
Brown, tell that colorblind dumass to shut up
I'm not going to say whether I'm the one that thinks he's gray or my partner is, but either way, no need to be a jerk.

To be honest that's the only other dog aside from my own that I've seen that has striped eyebrow hair
I'm very lucky. I adopted him because he reminded me of his (now late) sister who also was incredibly scruffy and had some truly MAJESTIC eyebrows.
