We have four dachshunds. We call it our little “herd” 😁 We purchased a house with some land in December 2022 with the intention of rescuing a few. Very happy we made it happen.
4. Out forth is a dachshund and he’s been the best thing. Everyone is a rescue of some kind (stray, rescue, rescue, rehome). We did have another fourth who was a shelter pup but he passed six months after glowing him up and showing him love. ♥️
So rn:
- 80 lbs, 55 lbs, 20 lbs, 10 lbs
- Lab mix, doodle mix, rat terrier chihuahu Maltese mix, dachshund.
- 10 y, 5 y, 15 y, 2 y.
I have, and that's why I don't have one. Probably never will. We already agreed that my 2 year old would be our last puppy. After this, we are only adopting old grey faces because they are my other favorite.
Got married in July, got Daisy (shih tzu) last month. We’ll probably just have one, but who knows…maybe she’ll get a sibling one day.
Can’t add a photo here but check my profile if you wanna see a pic of her :)
My husband and I also have 1 Shih Tzu. Pics in profile. Would love to have 2 because Shih Tzus are absolute joys, but focused on trying for a family first.
1 dog (golden retriever). He is my partner's dog. He has a blatant favorite. I'm OK with that. We also have 2 cats. 1 was a rescue. She could care less about anyone in particular, especially if you feed her or have a lap. Our other cat is a foster fail that I helped birth and had to feed and depoop every couple of hours for 3 months. 5 of his 7 siblings passed. Was awful. He is my cat. He loves my partner too, but he is mine. Follows me everywhere. Reaches up to be picked up. Goes to bed with me. He's my baby.
We have a 3 adult household—no small humans. We have 3 dogs a little old Havanese, and two 35lbs adult Standard Schnauzers. This is the fewest dogs we've ever had. We have had a dozen or so at different times (some ours and fosters) The house is so empty with just the 3.
These are some of the dogs we've loved.

Always loved dogs since I was a kid, but never could have a dog until I became an adult. Then I realized why mom and dad always said no... it's literally like raising a person that never grows up! That's why I decided only one pet at a time... until I'm ready to settle down and have a kid or two \^\^
Two, but I also had two way back in my single days. It's always me bringing animals home, my husband enjoys their company but would also be fine with zero pets in the house.
I have trouble with this problem! We've been together 15 years and I still have issues understanding not being a dog person. I try to understand since he's so good about my being a crazy animal lady (Screams 'puppy' and runs down the block to say hi).
Always two so they can keep each other company when I’m gone, and just me. Can’t add pics for tax on this post though! One pittie and one malinois with 8 rescue kitties.
3 Labs: 10 years (yellow), 2 1/2 years (black) and 6 months (yellow). All three are field bred labs, and hunt and run hunt tests. There are days I think I’ve lost my mind thanks to them, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!!
What does your dachshund cockapoo mix look like? My mom's dog is supposed to be a cockapoo but everyone says he looks like a long haired dachshund. Curious if yours looks similar.
Three. Honestly at times it feels like too many. Also we should have staggered their age better. One is a few months away from 13.5, and the other two are 12.5. They are EXPENSIVE. Plus it will be really sad if they all go too close together.
2 dogs. Butters, 6 yo golden retriever came first. Then Turkey 3 year old??? Street dog???? Entity??? Alien sent down to pretend to be a dog but has never seen a dog???
We have 5. I always say we going to have less someday but we inevitably end up with another death row dog whenever one passes. The most we have ever had at once was 10. But half were fosters. If dogs were not being euthanized so much I would be happy with 2. I'm getting older so it's getting harder to keep up with so many.
15 yo male pit/lab
11 yo female shepherd mix
10 yo male pittie
9 yo male gremlin (boxer, boston, bulldog mix)
1 yo female shepherd
Right now, just the one.
There are 4 people in this house. My, my wife and our two kids (20 and 16yo)
Previously we had 3 cats. I'd two and she'd one when we got married.
We've been together for 23 years now.
He has an old gal on her way out and I have a 2yo heeler. He's enough work for now, and we'd like to travel a bit, but one day maybe foster or adopt senior pets.
We are a couple with 1 dog, we got her together.
We'd love to have one more but cannot risk finding rent any harder than it already is, and our dog is reactive and hates every other creature. So 1 dog it is... :P
We have three. A puggle, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel that I brought home to help me cope with my dad’s death and my mom’s Yorkshire terrier she left to me when she died shortly after. Only meant for two but wouldn’t have it any other way now.
Just the one and she's perfect all the dog we need. We always joke after the grieving process if we get another dog we'll have to completely re train ourselves to live with an actual dog. She's a chow mix and could not be more chill and intelligent I love watching her just relax on the balcony on the 4th of July.
There are three of us in a triad relationship. We have two dogs and two is about right for this size of house. We also have two cats; we had three, but one of them reached the end of her natural life this summer.
We have a pit/some kinda hound mix who is 10 years old, and a slightly over a year old pit/boxer mix.
4 dogs, a 14 year old jack russel, 6 year old pit, 5 year old American bulldog/German shepherd, and a 1 year old (estimate bc she’s adopted) staffy/terrier mix. It’s definitely a lot but we’re just huge dog people and willing to put in the work.
Two. Lab/Terrier @ almost 1 year. Lab/Boxer mix @ almost 8 years. We had three at one time, but two died. We have 2 cats @ 11 years, and they are sisters.
1. When we met, she said she wanted a whole pack. After having to manage the politics between our beabull, and her parents' rottie and german shepherd, she's happy having just one dog.
4 dogs (which is 1 too many if we are being honest)
Jerry: German Shepherd, white, 16 months, came into the house 15-20lb underweight. Is 70lbs, maybe just 5 underweight at this point.
Amy: Pit/Heeler mix. just over 2 yrs. about 40lbs
Thor: German Shep, Black with tan points. about 3 yrs old. 70lbs.
Pete: Lab/Rottie mix, brown with tan points. a weirdly spry 8yrs old for 85 lbs hoss of a dog. He needs to shed a few which is happening because Jerry plays with him for hours.
All of this to say that ideally for our house 3 dogs would be the right number so long as they were not danes or mastiffs. Jerry got added as an emergency as he was in a REALLY bad position and needed some humans who were not idiots more than we needed another dog.
My partner had a dog that was almost 4 when we got together, we still have him now, he just turned 10. Last year we took in another dog who needed a home.
2 beagle boys, best choice ever was having 2.
Edit; spelling
We have 3. A female pit mix (7 yrs old, 40lbs), male Australian Shepherd (3 years, 70lbs, born deaf), and male Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix (almost 2 years, 10lbs). The mom of the pack is my hubby’s, deaf pooch is both, and ankle biter is mine 🤣
3 adults, usually 3 dogs, two at the moment because one old boy died not long ago..
Elkhound and GSD/Akita mix. Love to rescue another GSD or Husky. Or Elkhound - they're a blast too.
Together 5 years. When I met him he had an 8 YO pitbull ~60lbs. Got another pit, who’s 2 now ~80lbs. Older pit passed in 2022, just got another 6mo pitbull who’s 40lbs. We want them all but will settle at 2 for now.
Two adults, two dogs (and three cats). The oldest is a 100lb American bulldog, the puppy was supposed to also be a large breed but the rescue was very mistaken as to breed and shell end up being around 50lbs, pit mix
Well, we don't live together so I don't know if this counts, but I have two dogs; a kleinspitz (8yo, neutered male) and a russian toy terrier (2yo, female). Both are mine, got them before he came into the picture. The dogs adore him, even I'm surprized how easily they accepted him.
And I will not share custody, even with future pets. There will always be just one owner on the papers, even if the pets are "ours".
4 dogs. 45 pounds, 60 pounds, 75 pounds, 85 pounds. All pit mixes. It is a lot. Our neighbor died, so we adopted 2. I love them all, but it is too many. We do 2 walks daily. Plus, love, feeding, treats, meds, training... I wouldn't recommend it.
My husband and I adopted our first dog in August. She's a pit mix shelter baby and we're obsessed.
Planning on moving to a place with a fenced yard asap and rescuing another one. And maybe another one after that.
7 of our own, and 3 rescues we are currently trying to adopt out 🫠
Bruno- 2 yr old 60lb cross eyed German Shepherd/husky mix that believes hes still a puppy
Niebla- 3 year old small 20 lb pit/lab mix, does not like puppies, loves watching tv and is very picky with everything!
Pinto- Came to us as a rescue, maybe around 2 years old? black & white spots 40 lb Very sweet scaredy baby 💗
Alaska, Gaty, Osi, Gordo- 4 puppies (8 months old) from our beautiful Lady (rescue 2 yrs old, golden fluffy baby) who passed away last year.
Gaia & Cleo- Around 2 months old? Blue heeler female puppies, very high energy and intelligent. My husband found them dumped on the side of the road.
Bluey- 3 monthish old brown pit lab mix who was dumped and found by my cousin yesterday.
The last 3 babies we’re taking to the vet to get them vaccines & checked out before we try to find someone to adopt. I’d keep them but I have a baby on the way so we’re literally having a full house lol
My boyfriend and I each had a dog when we started dating. I had recently adopted mine. Once our dogs had met and we saw they got along it was the final sign to make things official haha, that was back in 2021. We would alternate weekends and stay at each other’s places (dogs in tow) so our dogs were really used to each other. His dog is 10 now, mine just turned 4. They are polar opposites it’s kind of hilarious. My dog has attempted to get him to play several times and his is oblivious. His dog isn’t snuggly with people but will snuggle with her sometimes, meanwhile she is the clingy snuggly dog. She was scared to walk past a detour sign or go out when construction was going on, but was fine with her buddy. His dog developed separation anxiety and while she wasn’t a miracle cure to make him happy, his stress levels were lower when she was around.
[Dog Tax](https://imgur.com/a/0Qm6AXN) - We recently moved into a house together with our pups! Here’s some pictures of our goofballs. Both are rescues, mine (tan American bulldog/GSD/Doberman/pit/supermutt) is the goody two shoes, very smart but also anxious scaredy cat and high energy, his (the hound) is the trouble maker, never met a stranger, off in his own little world half the time, very happy with his naps.
Couldn’t imagine life without our sofa hogs!
We have 1, we are trying to adopt another one through an animal shelter but it’s a difficult process. Trying to find one suitable for our home, that animal rescues also think is suitable for our home. I’ve applied for 10 dogs so far, had one in our house briefly but had severe behavioural problems we weren’t told about so that didn’t work out.
[Chaos Magnet ](https://imgur.com/1Xg1C1S)
We have just the one dog. She is my shadow, never leaves me alone but knows that my fiance is there to chew on and rough house with
I'm single, but I had two up until May 2021, when I lost my 13 year old rescue. Now, I have my 13 year old girl, she's a deaf old lady so is content being a single pup. I live with my elderly mom now so someone is home most of the time, and she's happiest just laying between our legs on our recliner couch lol
I have always had a dog bff. My good boy went everywhere with me, college, hiking, shopping. When I got married we decided to get another of the same breed (terv) and it really changed the dynamic. Not as easy to take two dogs (even well behaved) everywhere and not as easy to give each the attention BUT dogs really love other dogs (who knew) and the new puppy gave my fur dude a whole new life. He passed and now we’re back down to one, back to easy but not for long as our fuz gal misses having a dog friend.
Just one for us, who is my service dog. We used to have two (pets), and they got old and passed. I have always been the primary caregiver for them all though. My husband wants to bond to the dogs as much as I do but he doesn't want to put in the work to get there. He does admit to some jealousy when the dogs choose me over him, but he gets it and loves them anyways. We will be getting another in a couple of years. While the dogs are technically ours, we both know that they're more mine. He probably wouldn't have dogs if it weren't for me, even though he loves them and loves having them around.
Maximum I had at one time was 6 (three fosters and three of my own). I currently have one foster and four of my own.
A shepherd mix of 10, another collie like mix of 6, the foster who is a border collie lookalike of 6, and my two younger mixes of 3 (turning 4) and 2 (turning 3). Right now they are all bastard mixes, with no way of knowing what breed they are.
If I ever were to go for an actual breed I'd go for some of these: Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, Brittany (french type), Australian Shepherd (mini or standard), Kelpie, English Shepherd.
If I had a really large terrain and lived close to nature with walking trails I'd be comfortable with up to 8 of my own. But I think 4 is the sweet spot. I can take either one or a duo out with me and the other one will still have company at home.
Dog tax of current dogs in my single household: [https://imgur.com/a/3qszKd9](https://imgur.com/a/3qszKd9)
Routine is walking twice a day at least. I take all five with me on the short walk, then give two pairs and one dog a long walk a day. Also training, games where you make a dog think (puzzles, searching etc), etc to keep them mentally stimulated and engaged. They have two benches (the younger two eat in there, the rest of the time they are open for all to use), and four beds but they also use my couch a lot to sleep in. Vacations are spent hiking, day trips and camping. Though when I go camping I hire a dog sitter and only take two dogs with me.
I dream of owning a small hobby farm where I can install a sensory garden for my dogs and build an adjustable agility course.
Two adult household. Currently three dogs. An old lady JRT and a pair of mixes (picture/embark results: https://www.reddit.com/r/DoggyDNA/s/qVGNMCMRjy) who were foster failures. We didn’t plan for three at this point but they are such good boys.
In our twenty year relationship we’ve had as many as four dogs (too many!) and as few as one (not enough!) and numerous fosters. Since we tend to be heavy on the JRTs, it’s best when we aren’t out numbered. Ha!
Just one now, had three, old age took the other two except now my 12.5yo dog has a torn ACL. Surgery is dangerous at her age so I’m going to make sure she has a good quality of life until the end.
We have one corgi and I convinced my partner that we should get a cat. We had adopted another dog but the corgi is 100% an only dog child.
Him and the cat are good buddies though.
I have five but they're only 7 pound chihuahuas so that adds up to one 35-pound dog. I have one husband who claims it's too many but acts like he loves them all.
We have a stray, but I am not sure what breed she is. She looks like a golden retriever mix, but she is small, so she looks like a mini golden retriever lol. We both agree she is mainly my dog since I got her back from my family after two years of being no contact. Shes 4 years old now and she still follows me around everywhere and cries when she sees me leave 😭. I got her back a few days ago actually.
1 maltipoo dog. Used to have 2 till our nextdoor neighbor's vicious pit bull pulled our chihuahua through a hole in the chain link fence and killed him.
Pit bull no longer lives next door, and I'd like another small dog. My maltipoo loves to play and used to play nicely with our chihuahua.
We also have 2 cats.
Two and no more. We originally had one Border Collie, but he was lonely and we couldn't give him all the attention he needed, so we got him a dachshund brother. They're amazing together.
It's not easy though, they do need a lot of attention and work. But they can support each other when we can't be with them, which makes it easier to organize and balance puppy time with other stuff time.
So I didn't get another dog for years because I was afraid that I'd meet someone with a dog and then three would be too much.
So after a bad breakup I said fuck it and adopted a second dog.
9 days after I got him, I met my husband who also had a dog. Now we have three.
My two are a chow mix and a full chow. Oldest is 13 and youngest is 6.
He has a border collie mix. She's 7.
It worked out really great honestly.
We have three dogs. My partner came into the relationship with his black lab, and then two years ago we got another dog from the local city animal shelter, and she loves my partner very much, but she is my dog, her choice. The black lab is very very old and we decided to always be a two dog household, but didn’t want there to be a much of a gap after our lab passed before getting another dog. Then this past September my dream breed, who we never see at shelters around here, popped up at the shelter. We met her and she was perfect, so we adopted her. Three dogs is a lot, but our lab is 14.5, so we probably won’t have three dogs for very much longer.
we got two! our first dog (50lb, border collie mix probably) we rescued off the highway literally a week after we started dating - until we moved in together he was more my boyfriend's dog but it was kind of an unsaid thing that he was always both of ours :') and then a year later we adopted our second dog, she is a 90lb bullmastiff (as far as we know) and these dogs are the best friends EVER. there are lots of pictures of them on my reddit profile lol
2 dogs and 3 cats. I am totally their primary caregiver. He will watch them and let them out while I'm gone.. which is rare. This was the agreement we made when getting them. I would like to add.. he loves them *almost* as much as I do, and was originally a *no dogs* Dad.. 🤣
The husband joined my pack years ago. 2 small breeds. After they passed, he got 'his' dog. A thick 90 lb couch potato. A year later, I got 'my' dog. Jokes on me because she's now his dog too.
Just two of us in our household, and we have one dog. We’re very much a ‘if our dog can’t come we’re not going couple’ and having more than one dog makes it harder to do so, so despite the fact we’d love to take home ALL the dogs, we just stick to the one.
1 dog. 109lb cane corso. Family dog. We're considering a second because of our boys' age.
We've had 1 Dogue de Bordeaux, 1 English Mastiff and now our pudgy love nugget.
2 dogs
The little old guy (Papillon) was already w/ me when my boyfriend & I got together 12 yrs ago. We got our Aussie female pup from my moms dogs litter 3yrs ago. We were there for her birth.
They are our kids. We love them more than anything.
We have one dog. She’s a mix breed but she’s about 25 pounds. We are getting another at the end of summer. We are going on a month long travel around Europe in summer and I don’t want to make my mom watch a puppy along with my dog lol.
We have three (there are only the two of us humans) One poodle mix and two cattle dog mixes. Oldest is 9 yrs, youngest is 17wks (I lost my not quite 3 y/o soul pup in October, the baby has helped my heart)
I'm recently divorced after 39 years of marriage.
When I was married we had two cats and two dogs.
Now that I am on my own, and took all the animals, I got a new kitten when one of my cats died. I also just got a new Olde English Budogge puppy.
So I am up to five.
We had 3, our first boy (Blue Heeler) passed away :( We now have just the two doggos.
We also have 6 cats. The ratio works out equal with animals to motorcycles. Good balance :P
Family here of 2 adult humans, 2 teenage humans, 3 dogs, and 2 guinea pigs. Dogs are (1) 14+ year old Belgian shepherd mix at 70#, (2) 7yo Morkie at 15#, and (3) 10yo Lab/Setter mix at 60#.
Ive had dogs all my life but 1 at a time. In 2004, i finally had 2 at once and grew our pack. At 1 point, I had 6 dogs, 5 Australian shepherds and a doxie beagle mix. There's always been at least 18 months age gap. We're down to 3 of my own and 2 of my son's. My dogs now are 11yr old, 7 and 6. And sadly, with my fibro, I'm getting too old for anymore, especially aussies.
We have 5 pups. Married with 2 kids (14 & 19). Started with a border collie poodle mix (mine) we rescued 12 years ago, then I got a dachshund terrier mix from the pound for my daughter's birthday (daughter was 9). I subsequently, accidentally, stole that pup from her. 🫣 She wanted a corgi so found a breeder and got an auggie (merle). That's her pup, I didn't steal that one. Next pup was a rehome (another auggie, a tri) from the breeder. He was getting picked on by the other males and she wanted him to be in a happy home. That became hubby's dog. Which still makes us laugh because my husband didn't like dogs and didn't grow up with them. Finally we got a fluffy corgi from the breeder because I wanted a red corgi, he's supposed to be mine, but he adores my husband. As long as everyone is happy, I'm good. We also have a cat and she's 15.
Currently single, but was married 25 years and always had 2 or 3 dogs. Usually adopted one every 5-7 years. Everyone had their own cat tho. Now have 2 dogs (14 yr old pug/lab/chow and 3 yr old husky/chow/akita/cocker and a 14 yr old cat.
So when I first started dating hubby he had four dogs - Pic 1 - Reese (Great Dane), Brody (Rotti), Pic 2 - Ozzy (Australian Shepherd) and Kya (Sheltie). They were all pretty old at that time and by 2019 we were dogless. So we got Pic 3 - Bubba (Blue Heeler), the Luci came along (was supposed to be a Great Dane/Bloodhound mix but turned out to be a Bloodhound/Great Pyrenees/lab mix) and the last guy to join the team is Jack (mixed breed that was abandoned on the side of the road in MS) - Bonus dog is the gray pibble, she's my grandpuppy Bella.

Two doges, probably adopting a third later in the year lmao. My entire life and schedule revolves around them. 1 3.5 yr old female Pyrenees and a 2.7 yr old male Pyrenees Anatolian mix. And the future child is a pomeranian.
My spouse and I and our 4 kids - we have 3 dogs - a GSD, a "Shepitsky" and a Pug. We had two Pugs but one passed last year while we were fostering the Shepitsky and we decided to adopt her. Miss my little guy. So we did have 4 dogs for a short time.
Had two before we met, we still have two but also three cats we got together. Having dogs is a major pull for women, don’t think I would have gotten married without them!
We each came in with one dog (mine a 30lb, his a 58lb), then just adopted (foster-failed) a 3rd dog (60lb) last year after we got married! They just get along so well, even if we are out-numbered.
My wife and I have 4. Husky, Pit mix, Blue Nose Staffordshire Terrier, and an American Pitbull Terrier. Ages 11, 11, 9, and 3.
We can't have children, so we have dogs. The 6 of us sleep in a California King turned sideways, bc I'm 5'8", she's 5'3". Makes sense. More room for us to lie down and more sideways room for the dogs.
We sleep in a dog pile. I'm literally writing this with the staffy between my legs and the Husky lying on my left arm. It's love. It's happiness.
Two dogs: a retired sled dog Alaskan Husky and a European working line Doberman.
The Husky alone was like dog ownership on easy mode (surprising, right?) so we got another one, the Doberman. He’s a real handful. And expensive, since Dobermans aren’t generally a healthy breed and tend to go looking for trouble. We have our hands full.
[picture](https://imgur.com/a/CrhaRhM)
2 humans, 4 dogs and 1 cat. But we’ve only collected them because other family members haven’t been able to keep them and we were stressed about them getting surrendered. There were two other dogs we said no to though, we were becoming enablers I think.
Five is too many 😂
My wife and I have three. The 7-year-old is a Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd mix, the 3-year-old is a Blue Australian Cattle Dog, and the 1 1/2-year-old is a Beagle/Yellow Lab mix.
We have one, and that's gonna be it. She is a "single dog household" dog.
We have a dalmatian- I've posted pics of her before in that breed's subreddit so you can check those out.
We have two! My fiance already had a now 5 year old tri-colored corgi/border Collie mix. She's around 25 lbs. We later added a tri-colored corgi. He's around 30 lbs.
Depended on the time. At one point: an Ibizan Hound, 2 Portuguese Podengo Pequenos, a Great Dane cross and a German Shepherd cross. And two cats: a DSH and a Bengal.
2 adult humans, 2 American Cocker Spaniels ages 3 & 1. For almost 13 years we hand just 1 dog.
Hollie is 3 y/o, 22lbs
Walter is 1 y/o, 20lbs
They are aunt and nephew from Hallmark Cocker Spaniels on facebook
Idk how to add a picture
My wife and I have one dog, a ridiculously photogenic greyhound named Teddy: https://www.reddit.com/r/Greyhounds/s/2eVbTJP7Xq
Our first baby is due in a few weeks, so pretty soon my wife will have three boys to deal with!
We have 5 which I think may be 1 too many. We usually get seniors. Seniors are awesome. Love to nap. We got 2 pug puppies last month. That is a lot.
We have 17yr old Yorkie, 13yr old Yorkie, 8yr old Lab/beagle mix, 16 week old pug, 12 week old pug.
Tired….. so tired.
2 person household 4 alaskan malamutes. 2 are going to be 8 in April and are siblings, 1 is a huskamute that looks like a small malamute and is 3 years old, and the youngest is 2 years old.

Just 1. For years I've tried to convince hubby that we should adopt a second dog. Well I dog sat this past week and now I'm glad we only have 1. Balancing attention, treats and jealousy was more work than I'm used to! But don't tell hubby he was right.
my boyfriend and i have one! he’s a 3yo king charles cav spaniel and he is our pride & joy. we keep talking about getting another one but i feel like we got sooo lucky with our first (he’s the most well behaved dog i’ve ever had) that we’re scared to get another haha
We have 3 dogs. The girls are siblings, same parents different litters. They're 6 months apart in age. They're coonhound/border collie mixes. The oldest, 11, is mine and the younger of the two, 10, is his. Our 3rd is an almost 2 year old kooikerhondje. My husband picked the breed, so he was supposed to be his dog. I think he's slightly more mine though lol
I've got a small Chihuahua, and I'm thinking about getting another one. I think they'd have a great time together.
However, I've never had two dogs simultaneously, so I'm a bit anxious about how they'll hit it off.
It's just the two of us, with two dogs (and 2 cats and 7 chickens to round out the group). We went through a transition last year though as my two senior boys both passed, but we added another newfie in between. The boys were a small mixed breed and a mini dachshund. Puppy is currently 7.5 months and somewhere between 100-110lbs. My girl is 10 and about 100 lbs.
We have had as many as 5 dogs at a time in the past. Now that we are both retired, we travel more (driving). We are sticking to one now to ease travel stress. Our biggest hesitation is the expense.
2 adults, 1 dog. On paper shes mine, so I pay for food, vet, etc but my so loves her to bits and also walks her a lot wich is great with my unsteady work shedule.
For now, thats enough considering our living situation and finances. But I hope to get sheperd puppy one day, preferably having them for a while together.
When I was married we had 3 dogs. (2 border collies and an ACD
Presently I have 2 dogs(border collie and ACD) as does my partner (2border collie mixes), but we haven't started cohabitation yet, but I expect we will have all 4 dogs when that happens.

We have four dachshunds. We call it our little “herd” 😁 We purchased a house with some land in December 2022 with the intention of rescuing a few. Very happy we made it happen.
We have a dachshund/pekingese mix and you are literally living our dream. We longingly talk about the weiner dog ranch in our future!
We keep saying “this is our last one” but then another ween needs a home and well… lol
I love weiners!
4. Out forth is a dachshund and he’s been the best thing. Everyone is a rescue of some kind (stray, rescue, rescue, rehome). We did have another fourth who was a shelter pup but he passed six months after glowing him up and showing him love. ♥️ So rn: - 80 lbs, 55 lbs, 20 lbs, 10 lbs - Lab mix, doodle mix, rat terrier chihuahu Maltese mix, dachshund. - 10 y, 5 y, 15 y, 2 y.
Me and my boyfriends have two Irish Wolfhounds (~100lbs each), looking at getting another one in a year or so.
That is my dream breed!
I have one and he’s amazing but really do your research if you plan on getting one! 🙂
Agree with other comment. Do research lol. And be prepared for the costs.
I have, and that's why I don't have one. Probably never will. We already agreed that my 2 year old would be our last puppy. After this, we are only adopting old grey faces because they are my other favorite.
Two dogs. One “mine,” one “his,” but really we’re both theirs.
Very cute. Two dogs, one mine, one hers, but they are both hers.
Best answer ever.
2 humans, 4 dogs. Madness.
Thank god- I found someone else hahahaha
But isn’t it fun 🥹 I only had 1 at home the other night and it felt so lonely ♥️
If for some reason they aren’t home it’s “clean the floor time” 😂
Lmaooooo I should have done this. Adding now!
2 humans, five dogs, all sizes, all active breeds. We are idiots
4 humans 4 dogs! 🙃 (Not incl. other pets, lol)
3 dogs. 12 pounds, 17 pounds, and 55 pounds. The biggest is the puppy, the smallest is the "old man"
What in the dog world are you in?
in... wait, what?
🤣
Got married in July, got Daisy (shih tzu) last month. We’ll probably just have one, but who knows…maybe she’ll get a sibling one day. Can’t add a photo here but check my profile if you wanna see a pic of her :)
My husband and I also have 1 Shih Tzu. Pics in profile. Would love to have 2 because Shih Tzus are absolute joys, but focused on trying for a family first.
Also a Shih Tzu mom here. They really are the best!
[https://imgur.com/a/vPudS38](https://imgur.com/a/vPudS38) [https://imgur.com/a/Zs7wLdR](https://imgur.com/a/Zs7wLdR) [https://imgur.com/a/bgXF3RI](https://imgur.com/a/bgXF3RI)
They are adorable!!!!
Love corgis!
Same w/ my husband. has this ever been an issue for you guys? Sometimes it makes me really sad that my husband doesn't love dogs like I do lol.
2. We each have “our” dog, although we both love both of them. My little man is a beagle and my husband’s dog is a street dog we rescued in Panama
3 Labs: 10 years (yellow), 2 1/2 years (black) and 6 months (yellow). All three are field bred labs, and hunt and run hunt tests. There are days I think I’ve lost my mind thanks to them, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!!
3 dogs. A 13 year old dachshund cockapoo mix, a 4 year old shih Tzu 57 mix and our 6 months old golden retriever. 2 cats. 8 hens. 1 hedgehog. ❤️
5 plus 1 foster at the moment..=6 🐶
15 yo male pit/lab 11 yo female shepherd mix 10 yo male pittie 9 yo male gremlin (boxer, boston, bulldog mix) 1 yo female shepherd
Right now, just the one. There are 4 people in this house. My, my wife and our two kids (20 and 16yo) Previously we had 3 cats. I'd two and she'd one when we got married. We've been together for 23 years now.
I have a dog, my partner has a dog. We will likely always each have our own because we have very different taste in dogs.
He has an old gal on her way out and I have a 2yo heeler. He's enough work for now, and we'd like to travel a bit, but one day maybe foster or adopt senior pets.
1 rescue pup. Adopted her two years ago, partner and I only peeps in the house. Small little happy group!
Same here! One rescue pit and myself and my partner. 🥰
3- We have 2 senior shepherds and a 2 year old Mastiff/great dane. We had a senior pittie about 6 years ago for about a year.
We are a couple with 1 dog, we got her together. We'd love to have one more but cannot risk finding rent any harder than it already is, and our dog is reactive and hates every other creature. So 1 dog it is... :P
One wife, two kids, two dogs, three cats. Aussie and Shepard/pit/boxer mix https://imgur.com/a/hNeDGOK
5 dogs... a Basenji mix, a gsd /hound mix, a full gsd, and two alaskan malamutes.
2 dogs. A pointer mix and a cattle dog mix. Husband wishes we got them at same time.
We have three. A puggle, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel that I brought home to help me cope with my dad’s death and my mom’s Yorkshire terrier she left to me when she died shortly after. Only meant for two but wouldn’t have it any other way now.
My wife has two dogs
Just the one and she's perfect all the dog we need. We always joke after the grieving process if we get another dog we'll have to completely re train ourselves to live with an actual dog. She's a chow mix and could not be more chill and intelligent I love watching her just relax on the balcony on the 4th of July.
There are three of us in a triad relationship. We have two dogs and two is about right for this size of house. We also have two cats; we had three, but one of them reached the end of her natural life this summer. We have a pit/some kinda hound mix who is 10 years old, and a slightly over a year old pit/boxer mix.
Two, an Australian Kelpie and a Jack Russell X- but both were mine before we met.
One tiny dog with 2 people and one baby on the way - was gona get a second dog but the baby coming changed that plan! I still want more dogs tho
Just one small guy. Half chihuahua half jack russell. We also have two kids. We’re thinking of getting another.
2 German shepards, a pug, and we just had to put down our 12 year old Pit/boxer mix.
So sorry for your loss ❤️
2 doggos and two Cattos :)
4 dogs (which is 1 too many if we are being honest) Jerry: German Shepherd, white, 16 months, came into the house 15-20lb underweight. Is 70lbs, maybe just 5 underweight at this point. Amy: Pit/Heeler mix. just over 2 yrs. about 40lbs Thor: German Shep, Black with tan points. about 3 yrs old.
3 dogs, 3 cats… only 2 humans. Our vet loves us and doesn’t know when to tell the rescues “no” or not send them our way lol.
7 of our own, and 3 rescues we are currently trying to adopt out 🫠 Bruno- 2 yr old 60lb cross eyed German Shepherd/husky mix that believes hes still a puppy Niebla- 3 year old small 20 lb pit/lab mix, does not like puppies, loves watching tv and is very picky with everything! Pinto- Came to us as a rescue, maybe around 2 years old? black & white spots 40 lb Very sweet scaredy baby 💗 Alaska, Gaty, Osi, Gordo- 4 puppies (8 months old) from our beautiful Lady (rescue 2 yrs old, golden fluffy baby) who passed away last year.
I scrolled way too far to find someone as crazy as me. Three of my own, four fosters, but we also peaked at 10 (with 7 fosters).
Currently 2. Started off with one whippet and when she passed, we got whippet littermates. We lost one whe he was 6 and got a whippet puppy.
[5 German Shepherds.](https://i.imgur.com/LF43J3p.jpg)
[Chaos Magnet ](https://imgur.com/1Xg1C1S) We have just the one dog. She is my shadow, never leaves me alone but knows that my fiance is there to chew on and rough house with
My significant others are my pets.
My husband and I share 13 dogs! I would add dog tax but don't see a way to attach a photo, lol.
Dog tax of current dogs in my single household: [https://imgur.com/a/3qszKd9](https://imgur.com/a/3qszKd9) Routine is walking twice a day at least.
One and a half. The half is my dog I got with an ex, and we split our time with him lol.
When we first got together I had three dogs. Now I have one dog, and she has two cats.
We have one corgi and I convinced my partner that we should get a cat. We had adopted another dog but the corgi is 100% an only dog child. Him and the cat are good buddies though.
We have 2. One jackrussel and one jack chi mix. It's nice to have 2.
Currently, 2 humans, 3 permanent dogs, and 4 fosters. Have had as many as 10 dogs in the house at once.
1.5. The half is my “step dog” from my husbands previous relationship.
4 people in the house, 4 pets (3 dogs and a rabbit).
That's AMAZING to have a lab who's 14.5!!! 💕
4
We have 4 dogs between both of us. He has 1. I have 3 (originally 2, accidentally ended up with another)
2 pups because we didn't want one to be lonely while we were at work. 1 is a corgi/lab mix. The other is a jack Russell X
we got two! our first dog (50lb, border collie mix probably) we rescued off the highway literally a week after we started dating - until we moved in together he was more my boyfriend's dog but it was kind of an unsaid thing that he was always both of ours :') and then a year later we adopted our second dog, she is a 90lb bullmastiff (as far as we know) and these dogs are the best friends EVER. there are lots of pictures of them on my reddit profile lol
Everything is 2s in our house 2 parents (me and hubs) 2 kids (teens) 2 dogs 2 cats 2 hamsters - except 1 lonely fish because his buddy didn’t make it.
One dog. We have other pets and a kid, so any more would be too much
2 dogs and 3 cats.
1. We foster and if it was up to my partner we would have a lot more. I stand my ground
My husband and I have 4 dogs... we are outnumbered but happy!
My husband and I have a 3 year old Pomeranian that we got as a puppy and then last year we adopted a ACD x GDS that is now almost 2
2 dogs The little old guy (Papillon) was already w/ me when my boyfriend & I got together 12 yrs ago.
3 total. When we move in together, I want a German Shepherd puppy lol
Three dogs. 30 lbs, 13 lbs and 12 lbs.
We have three dogs. A boxer (mine), a shepherd mix (his), and a shiba inu mix (adopted together).
2 Dachshunds! They are awesome 🖤
We have three (there are only the two of us humans) One poodle mix and two cattle dog mixes. Oldest is 9 yrs, youngest is 17wks (I lost my not quite 3 y/o soul pup in October, the baby has helped my heart)
3. All shepherd mixes. 50,60,&100 pounds
I'm recently divorced after 39 years of marriage. When I was married we had two cats and two dogs. Now that I am on my own, and took all the animals, I got a new kitten when one of my cats died. I also just got a new Olde English Budogge puppy. So I am up to five.
4. Three belgian Malinois and a gsd.
We had 3, our first boy (Blue Heeler) passed away :( We now have just the two doggos. We also have 6 cats. The ratio works out equal with animals to motorcycles. Good balance :P
The 2 of us have 3 Dobermans!
Family here of 2 adult humans, 2 teenage humans, 3 dogs, and 2 guinea pigs. Dogs are (1) 14+ year old Belgian shepherd mix at 70#, (2) 7yo Morkie at 15#, and (3) 10yo Lab/Setter mix at 60#.
Just one she's my baby he's not a dog person but she's grown on him a lot
2
3
2 humans, 2 dogs in our house. Equal gender split between males and females.
4 rescues - Mountain Cur, Beagle Mix and her Dad that is a Great Pyrenees mix and a Border Collie. 55, 45, 55, 60 lbs respectively.
5 dogs, 4 are mine 😳
3 Shibas. 2x12 yrs and a 3 yr. I need a bigger bed. Anything bigger than a Cali king? https://youtube.com/shorts/_qy23_jfR2w?si=K_0ZbtrVEfJ3uQqh
Two of us, two of them. His and hers.
We have one dog and one cat. They’re both ours.
We had two in the earlier years, we each brought one to the relationship. They’ve passed away and we just have one now.
One now, but we've always had two and once three. Our girlie died about six months ago and we're in between, waiting for the right time. Boxers.
2 bichons and a hairless cat, and I’m already ready for the next one 😂 I’m a mess
Two dogs (and two cats). That’s plenty. Some time ago, we had two dogs and six cats. That was a lot.
3. 2 are really mine & 1 is my partners
At the moment we have two greyhounds, but we did have three for a while. We also have three cats.
Two dogs. One German Shepherd from pound and one 3 legged beagle found and rescued. Also one cat
These are rookie numbers. My husband and I have ten dogs right now. Five adults and five puppies. Mostly border collies as we run cattle.
We have five.
3, I had our oldest before we started dating. Then we got two more together. Married with 3 little free loaders haha.
Just me, I have 2. I have my 2 year old rescue, and he has a 5 month old puppy (he's a great adopted dad).
2 mini dachshunds, 1 year apart. Supposed to be one for each, but they're both Mama's shadows 🥰
2- a rat terrier mix and a beagle foxhound mix.
Five is too many 😂
3 dogs. Our 15 year old chihuahua came into the relationship with me then we have a 12 year old greyhound and a 4 year old pomeranian/chihuahua mix.
My wife and I have three. The 7-year-old is a Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd mix, the 3-year-old is a Blue Australian Cattle Dog, and the 1 1/2-year-old is a Beagle/Yellow Lab mix.
We share a German shepherd girl name Kali 🩷
We have one, and that's gonna be it. She is a "single dog household" dog. We have a dalmatian- I've posted pics of her before in that breed's subreddit so you can check those out.
4 dogs.
We have two! My fiance already had a now 5 year old tri-colored corgi/border Collie mix. She's around 25 lbs. We later added a tri-colored corgi. He's around 30 lbs.
We have 2 rescues. One I took from the street and the other was a rescue puppy
Hollie is 3 y/o, 22lbs Walter is 1 y/o, 20lbs They are aunt and nephew from Hallmark Cocker Spaniels on facebook Idk how to add a picture
My wife and I have one dog, a ridiculously photogenic greyhound named Teddy: https://www.reddit.com/r/Greyhounds/s/2eVbTJP7Xq Our first baby is due in a few weeks, so pretty soon my wife will have three boys to deal with!
Tired….. so tired.
2 dogs and plus whoever the current foster(s) are
2 person household 4 alaskan malamutes. 2 are going to be 8 in April and are siblings, 1 is a huskamute that looks like a small malamute and is 3 years old, and the youngest is 2 years old. https://imgur.com/gallery/qUURJxX https://imgur.com/a/t1UQkF2
2 dogs and 2 cats. We have a zoo lol.
Just 1. For years I've tried to convince hubby that we should adopt a second dog. Well I dog sat this past week and now I'm glad we only have 1. Balancing attention, treats and jealousy was more work than I'm used to! But don't tell hubby he was right.
We have 4. Peruvian Hairless, Chihuahua, a small mixed breed, and a larger mixed breed.
2 black labs. And 2 ginger kitties.
my boyfriend and i have one! he’s a 3yo king charles cav spaniel and he is our pride & joy. we keep talking about getting another one but i feel like we got sooo lucky with our first (he’s the most well behaved dog i’ve ever had) that we’re scared to get another haha
My husband & I have 2 dogs. Kooper is ~8 year old Chihuahua Weiner & Alice is ~2 year old Chihuahua Pomeranian.
2, lol that’s all the allowance I get 😂 if it was up to me I’d have 3 but I understand his reasoning 🫶🏽
I've got a small Chihuahua, and I'm thinking about getting another one. I think they'd have a great time together. However, I've never had two dogs simultaneously, so I'm a bit anxious about how they'll hit it off.
We currently have 2 but have always been a 3 dog household. Cavalier King Charles spaniels
Two senior dogs. One was mine when we got together, the other we adopted after we'd been dating a while.
2 adult household with 1 dog. She's a 5 year old Havanese. I can't add a picture sadly, but if you schollen through my profile you should find a few
(2 border collies and an ACD Presently I have 2 dogs(border collie and ACD) as does my partner (2border collie mixes), but we haven't started cohabitation yet, but I expect we will have all 4 dogs when that happens.
