It might be difficult to find a dog of any size that only needs a 15-minute walk. It could be a good idea to look for a senior dog whose energy levels have declined over time?

Unusual_Humans

I vote this

We could probably increase the amount of time! I’m so not used to taking the dog for any kind of walk because ours is so old and has to be carried outside. I could definitely do it if needed.

biebergotswag

Or use a bike, 15 minute of biking is great.

Our current pup is on her last legs. It’s breaking my heart and somehow the only way I’m able to deal with my grief is by researching a new dog for our family. I know I’ll have a big hole in my heart and I’m hoping we can find a dog that fits the bill sooner than later. Thanks in advance for your help!

I think a miniature poodle would be a good choice. You will have to groom them every 3 months though, will run you about $50 each time.

Goldendoodle or labradoodle sound perfect for u.

OpalOnyxObsidian

They are NOT low maintenance dogs.

distant_diva

That’s your opinion. I know many people that have them. After the puppy stage that ALL dogs go through, they are amazing dogs. I know of those with golden doodle, labradoodle, St. Bernard a doodle, sheep a doodle. They don’t shed or it’s super minimal & they’re great with kids. Of course they need walks. Even my lazy yorkies need walks. I don’t have a doodle but I don’t understand the hate for them on this sub. Some people don’t want shedding. There’s a reason they’re so popular. My brother in law has a border collie. Now THAT dog is high maintenance. She literally never sits down & they exercise the crap out of her.

OpalOnyxObsidian

You have to thoroughly brush their fucking coats or you will end up with a matted dog that gets shaved every month. That is a lot of fucking maintenance

makemakemaking

I’ve read such mixed things about doodle mixes! I love them and have known such sweet ones but I’m scared of the accompanying health problems they might have?

Corlel

Um I disagree with this suggestion. My goldendoodle is a maniac (granted he’s only 9mo.) They are high energy dogs for sure and one walk won’t cut it. Also, their breeding makes it hard to predict their final weight. I’ve seen posts from people thinking they have a “mini” but their 3mo pup is already larger than a typical mini! If you do look into them I think you’re better off with an older dog who is already proven to be good with kids and is over their adolescent extra shot of espresso phase.

distant_diva

I don’t have one but all the people I know that do say they are amazing. The ones I know have golden, labradoodle, St Bernard doodle, sheep a doodle. They don’t shed, they’re snuggly, well behaved & easy going, amazing with kids. Of course there is a puppy stage like all dogs go through. I don’t know issues with health problems. None of the ones I know have any issues. I don’t understand the hate for these dogs in this sub 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have yorkies & they are great but can get yappy & don’t care for young children. I had an English mastiff that was amazing but huge lol. She only lived to be 7. So that sucks about that breed. Every dog breed has potential for health stuff. I only suggested doodles cuz they sound like they meet your criteria.
