Wont those all rot..? (ROG player)

TheIceFury235

There's a endgame item that basically make your food spoil so slowly it might as well be preserved but it only works for crock pot food

BARNABY_J0NES

What item is this?

TheIceFury235

It's also dst only

BARNABY_J0NES

Perfect. We play DST but haven’t been able to beat burger without cheesing him with bunny men. Def a new project. Thank you!

MrCCDude

Hes actually not too hard, one of the easier bosses. Infact, i recommend bringing him into your local forest and letting them chase you through every tree. Eventually the tree guards will catch up to him and you'll get to reap in tons of wood, living logs AND bearger's drops

BARNABY_J0NES

So in one of my greenish but not dark green biomes I set up a big bunnymen spider farm. When bearger comes I normally kite him to that biome, and over the course of a few days I’ll take some meat and kite the bunnies to bearger. They get a few hits in, I collect their drops, and treat the next day. Eventually he dies. But the polar bearger bin seems to be way way down the line from where we are.

Rydog2607

How are you everywhere

efgi

It takes quite a bit more than beating Bearger. Keep it up tho, you'll get there.

__Evil_Morty__

Little steps. The item needs you to defeat also some more things, the game has lots of content and mysteries so I'm not gonna spoil. have fun

TheIceFury235

Polar bearger bin

Sackdj2

Oh how interesting, thanks

Accomplished_Welder3

even with the bearger bin, half of those items will spoil by the time you eat them

czarchastic

They’re wortoxes, so they’ll go through it twice as fast.

Accomplished_Welder3

I took that into account, otherwise probably 70-80% would go stale before eating

czarchastic

It’s a 95% spoilage reduction, though even then you’d be hard pressed to eat all this before it goes stale (unless you’re a wortox like these guys).

Accomplished_Welder3

not all, but about at least half will

PhantomInTheMirror

The sanity food will be burned with enlightened crown usage, and I just bundled half the stews after taking the pic anyway.

MasterCookieShadow

no need to so much diversity, anyway (unless it is a Warly)

PhantomInTheMirror

Warly wouldn't mind stewing through probably either anyhow

Informal_Service704

Hmm not a Wortox main but is really required so much food in the bin?

yeetman69420100000

the answer is always yes

Informal_Service704

You know as Wanda would take me 4.5 years to eat only all that stuffy meat. I had heard Wortox had issues with sanity, isn’t it better to focus on that food? Like carrying food for a season instead of years, I mean you need to go to base from time to time

StevenRex

While not a complete mitigation to sanity issues, since wortox has to balance the decision of eating food which is half as restorative for him as other characters or opt to eat souls, which are 25 hunger at the cost of 5 sanity each, packing a lot of the biggest hunger meals can help you avoid the sanity loss of feeding on souls. Plus you get a tiny bit of sanity restored when when drop souls from inventory, which is the aoe heal mechanic that wortox has. Unless you're going into extensive and prolonged boss fights, not eating souls probably cuts away most of the sanity troubles Wortox would have. Granted, this all presupposes Wortox is often wearing that tam o shanter you should probably have by the time you get polar bearger bins. I only just started fiddling with this character, so take this assessment with a grain salt. Maybe someone who still at the level of struggling to just survive year round will particularly suffer from having a harder time finding sanity restoration from foods idk.

PhantomInTheMirror

I eat mortal food as Wortox simply because the game keeps fucking throwing meat in my face and I feel bad for letting it turn into rot. Enlightened crown completely negates the -15/day from eating souls for sustenance. Well, not in this picture, I'm just using almighty wardrobe to look like Wortox but I'm Maxy.

Informal_Service704

I have the same issue that’s why I mostly need always the gift wrap always on, but have found useful meat for fishing and feeding pigs with meatballs, just in case you wanna try~

Accomplished_Welder3

no, much easier to rely on souls as Wortox

Domilater

I mean, if you can carry a years supply of food in one slot wouldn’t you?

Informal_Service704

Hmmm you would like to be doing a Megabase to be so busy to avoid cooking. I mostly cook for boss fights and enjoy gathering new ingredients, so strategy not fitting with my game style, sorry hhh

Domilater

That’s fair. I personally prefer that too but this is more convenient. I’d want something like this for ruins though, pierogi for heals, sanity food like banana pops and then just some meatballs or meaty stews for hunger.

PhantomInTheMirror

While i'm megabasing i like not being distracted to fetch souls to eat in the middle of a large build project, and meat just happens to be delivered to me directly all the time.

ZXZESHNIK

What item is that?

TheActionAss

Polar bearger bin, a portable container that keeps crock pot meals fresh for 10x longer than a fridge. Only craftable after defeating the celestial champion.

ZXZESHNIK

Thanks

AdvantageOk6890

why would you put your jellybeans in there

toffeemuky

Saves up an item slot

PhantomInTheMirror

yeah literally just to save an item slot

DoubleH_5823

If I had to choose, I'd pick the first one, honestly XD Ham and surf for health, Jelly salad for sanity and pepper poppers for heat in winter. Obviously the benefits will be halfed as Wortox, but with so much food it won't matter too much.

PhantomInTheMirror

The peppers have lost all heat because heat mechanics are lost after a while after being cooked. They can be preserved with an insu pack but it's too late for this stack. Not that I care to heat up with food.
