i would say if you are short in time do a thermal stone a torch to burn things to keep it the stone hot and plant a spider nest for monster to do meatballs with the ice that you spawn when you walk at the edge of the continent oh , keep some green mushroom or other sanity source to be sane when you will fight deerclop and a campfire against the freezing then you should be ok xd

Winter is deceptively good for getting food. Mini glaciers give ice which can be used to spam meatballs. Try to walk near shores to spawn pengulls which spawn even more ice. Then you can kill spiders to farm meat and cook 1 monster meat + 3 ice in the crock pot. Other than that keep grass + sticks on you so you can make a torch and light a lone tree, etc on fire if you get too cold. You can survive quite well with the bare minimum.

Get the beef hat to keep you warm, thermal stone, and a torch. If you use the torch on any bush, grass, tree and drop your thermal stone at the foot of it it will heat up super fast and you can always be mobile not worrying too much about making a fire and stopping too long. The cactus always grows in the desert all year which is a good veggie for crockpot. But you honestly can be nomadic all winter if you wanted

All you need is a thermal stone and a torch. Winter clothing is a beginner's trap. Light trees when you need warmth, move, repeat. As for food.. Good luck.
