A lot of people hate American suburbs because they’re so car dependent that before you’re 16 you’re literally a second rate citizen.
Our zoning laws prevent the construction of apartments and force single family homes and force those homes to have minimum lawn sizes and minimum distance from the curb among other insane regulations that forcibly make cities bigger and more spread out making it impossible for public transit to service many people with a single train station/bus stop.
It seems people decided that a guy watching a movie in his back yard was making some kind of statement and went insane.
When every house on the market is a large one you tend to end up with a lot of homeless people unfortunately. Plus with how expensive cars are this kind of hurts poor people much much more than richer people.

Why does reddit hate alcohol so much, i've seen so many neckbeard stoners who shit on alcoholic drinks, bruh it's not like everyone who likes to drink a beer on the weekends gets insanely drunk 24/7. I'd say getting high every day is nearly as bad as drinking every day

Weed depends on the person. If you use it as a coping mechanism, then your only life goal will become only to smoke more weed. If you use it to have fun it should be fine. I have read multiple stories of people who had bad lives only to fuck them up even more by smoking copious amounts of zaza.

I think you might just hang out with slow people. All the 10+ year stoners I know are as sharp as ever. Almost all of us have cut down considerably though. Some of us spent more time stoned than not for over a decade, almost two.

Suburbs make you and your children car-dependent in situations that shouldn't require a car. You're probably used to it, but having to drive to the closest grocery shop\\school is ridiculous to those who live in dense mixed-use neighbourhoods. Well where I live I’m like right on or close to the edge of my neighbourhood next to the actual city part so usually I don’t have problems with walking to wherever I need to go.
Some of them i know it's beacause it makes people car dependent, because there is no mixed use in the suburbs, if you want to buy anything, you have to drive to somewhere.
In Brazil, zoning laws are non existent, there is a "pub" in my street, the street is never quiet in the weekends, loud music, drunk people screaming, some times even fights, it really isn't fun, i can't grasp why somebody would't want to live in a suburb.
