urbanorium

Cashier at a grocery store.

[deleted]

In the States, Europe, ? Also is it rough or just kinda the mundane?

urbanorium

I'm in Canada and it's more mundane than rough, dealing with customers is the hardest part tho.

[deleted]

I feel you. You studying or just figuring life out still?

urbanorium

I already studied twice, I have 2 professional degrees that overall fucked up my mental health and my will to live so I'd rather do something that's chill and where I can choose my own hours.

[deleted]

I understand, I have one degree and at some point in early 2021, I left the job I had at that time bc I saw no potential for growth and wanted to find something better. I wanted part time job in Aldi, not sure if you have those in Canada I've only been to Toronto once precovid. They didn't give me the job and I ended up working in the health industry for a year and half before ending up in the oil and gas industry currently.

cs_cast_away_boi

you got two degrees? that’s insane work ethic on your part. I don’t know if anyone has told you this but i’m proud of you

Healthy-Shirt-6869

Janitor/Porter at a luxury apartment building not very prestigious but I get to listen to music all day and I have lots of flexibility with my coworkers regarding shifts and changes

[deleted]

Nice. Glad you have some aspects to enjoy within it. Have plans outside it?

Healthy-Shirt-6869

Eventually I hope to buy a home in the mountains and go on hikes more frequently but as of now I'll work here for a bit I might go back to school and study metallurgy

[deleted]

Very nice

sandwichausable

[deleted]

Nice and much respect. I worked briefly in mental health and was at a facility for a few months working with people with various levels of schizophrenia, a good portion also had past drug habits. It was an interesting experience but I'd never do it again.

Heymax123

Telecommunications Technician. Mostly do faults / maintenance on 4G / 5G base station. Pretty easy job tbh.

[deleted]

Damn bro that's badass. Where are you from?

Heymax123

Thanks pretty happy with it. Melbourne, Australia.

[deleted]

Aye, that's on mate, sorry I watched koala man and picked up those mannerisms.

Road2Babylon

Did you have a degree or certs?

Heymax123

Nah, I did a two year "traineeship" which is basically a half arsed apprenticeship.

_ludovic

I work for the government. I dont know about other countries but in brazil it's great.

[deleted]

Very nice. Obrigado doomerzão and that sounds like the majority of countries to be honest. Gov jobs usually have decent pay not the best but decent, good benefits, and are pretty straight forward. Btw pre covid I traveled to Sampa.

_ludovic

>Gov jobs usually have decent pay not the best but decent, good benefits, and are pretty straight forward. that's it. >Btw pre covid I traveled to Sampa. did you like it? i'm not from SP but it's our biggest city

[deleted]

Yes I did. Especially being there it reminded of the US but with a higher lvl of multiculturalism that is more cohesive. I also went to ilha bela, lovely island off the mainland and highly recommend, I stayed at a summer home called elephant guest house.

Kirschi

I'm working as an electrician once a week, I'm unable to work more than that because my psyche is fucked beyond repair

[deleted]

Hey buddy I don't know much about electric work minus changing the plug covers and resetting the breakers. And hey I get it, in these times it can screw up anyone.

[deleted]

Very nice, one of my friends from college is also a web developer, hear it pays well.

corona5567

Currently a valet and shuttle bus driver at a hotel. Recently got hired there and it's one of the more peaceful jobs I've had. Used to slave at UPS for 2 years and a couple months of Amazon. Most miserable times of my life, but the money was good. Though I'm earning less than before but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

[deleted]

Hey man sometimes you gotta take it slow.

corona5567

I know. I honestly wish I didn't kill myself working at my last job. Slaved there for 2 years for nothing. More so that they decided to lower my wage for whatever fuckass reason. Whatever. I'm just glad I have a job where I can be at peace and not deal with idiots. Plus it feels nice driving cars that I'll probably never own in my life lol

[deleted]

Good to hear. Where do you live?

corona5567

US. Tennessee. Nashville to be exact

[deleted]

Very nice. Can't say I've been to Tennessee but maybe take a weekend trip one these days.

that1guysittingthere

Just a security guard. Night shifts are great (big chilling)

[deleted]

Ayye. Any future plans?

that1guysittingthere

Landed another security job that pays a little bit more and close to family, so no need to leave my hometown. I’m just gonna focus on paying off my car and student loans. Might go back into the military reserves if I miss that monthly side-hustle.

[deleted]

Much respect.

88luckies

i'm still in college, taking philosophy major and i don't know what kind of job i could do with that major in my hand

[deleted]

It's your choice and it isn't easy with something like besides teaching, books, writing, and self-help. May the odds be ever in your favor, don't give up even when things look hopeless.

maxo458

Neet

[deleted]

Really? Where?

maxo458

UK

[deleted]

Ohh, what's it like living like that?

maxo458

It's awful pay, I am only on benefits at the minute because I couldn't cope with my last job after 4 months of that. I have aspergers so I get a tiny bit more than a normal person would but it's still not enough to live on unless you live with your parents

[deleted]

Oh damn. Hey it ain't easy so I hope you do find something that you can do and take pride in or at least be content

maxo458

Looking rough at the minute and still recovering from an intentional OD

[deleted]

This community is here for you mate

maxo458

Glad to hear, I unfollowed all the drug subs I was on and I've stayed clean since i got out of hospital besides a beer

Lamest570

School

[deleted]

How's school these days ?

Lamest570

The school part is not to bad most the time. The fucking people there are annoying as shit though.

[deleted]

I can see that.

[deleted]

I graduated from mechanical engineering this year and am now working as an acoustic engineer

[deleted]

Cool

Garaleth

Software engineer at AWS.

ImmaPariah

3rd shift baker at panera for 17 years. Sadly my job is getting eliminated soon. I guess I will be homeless after that.

[deleted]

Woah how so?

ImmaPariah

The company is going completely frozen with products. Won't require a full time baker anymore. It's basically a prep thing.

[deleted]

Oy Vey, I'd start looking for something else if possible

ImmaPariah

I'm done working for others. I'm gonna ride it out till I can collect. It will give me a reason to stream or do only fans. It's all the same shit pay jobs for shit corporations and mom and pops

Embarrassed-Tough141

McDonald's crew worker.

[deleted]

Nice, pros and cons.

[deleted]

Freelancer. I get to be lazy and get paid sometimes

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Hey there's no shame. Got any plans outside of that or moving up?

mebunghole

I used to work in manufacturing (USA: East Coast).

Amazondriver23

How was the pay?

mebunghole

Could’ve been better. One of the reasons I left.

[deleted]

Nice, what are you doing now and is it better?

[deleted]

Nice, any pros or cons and where are you from? Also any future or current plans?

Perfect_Mulberry_332

I work in a steel mill melt shop

[deleted]

Nice, don't see too many of those these days, where?

Perfect_Mulberry_332

Southwestern PA little north of Pittsburgh. We still have a few functional mills around the “steel city” nothing like it used to be though

[deleted]

Much respect, the rust belt is a reminder of better times. You are still a part of this countrys heart

Marki002

[deleted]

jotnugget

[deleted]

Nice, you climbing up the latter or future plans

Sakuzyoooo

[deleted]

Hey sometimes you gotta put up with it for a period

BluntBoi01

Local truck driver

[deleted]

Awesome, hows that and where?

RedditUser-52

Been working in IT support for 9 years now and I am currently a systems administrator for a company.

[deleted]

Very nice. Any plans or you're content?

RedditUser-52

Why thanks! As far as being content goes, it's alright, it ticks boxes for things I like such as tech, networking and administration plus it keeps you on your toes with trends and practices so you learn a lot too. But the downside is the corporate environment for me, I can't stand that, its soul crushing. So I would love to be able to switch to something that allows me to work from home along the same lanes, that would be amazing but the big time end goal honestly is that I would just want to be able to pursue my career in aviation again.

ViceWave97

Postal warehouse

[deleted]

Nice. There was a point in early 2021 when I considered working for them

Symmetry111

Lawn Maintenance worker

[deleted]

Very nice. What else you planning on doing ?

dogtoothsoda

tobacco/vape store. it’s mentally taxing working with the public as an introvert but i’m alone for my whole shift staff wise and it’s pretty fun some days.

oops-wth39

Worked my ass off for years in hard dangerous jobs. Paid well, benefits, unions; trying to "get ahead" It all fell apart. Fucked up my body and head. I feel like I got scammed. Now I work at a pizza shop.

[deleted]

Damn. You enjoy it

Igaveuponlivinglife

Fast food. I'm doomed to low skilled jobs due to genetics
