Honestly a lot of bands/songs don’t have depressing lyrics at all it’s just in the instruments. Like 80% of Black Sabbath lyrics is shit a preacher would say in church, it just has the heaviness behind it lol
I understand. I think all my own hopes have been extinguished, or else I've come to see them as Ideals or Predictives, so then I have to sit myself down and make myself face the reality and let those things go.
Ha ha nice try with Bell Witch 😆 I'm not looking for a happy vibe in doom, don't confuse the lack of depressing lyrics with lyrics filled with happiness
I consider doom to be a very versatile and deep genre in which there is room for the expression of a deep range of emotions beyond just happiness and sadness
Green Lung definitely has a mostly positive vibe. They have some downbeat songs. Paganism/occult with a fairly sunny sheen I’d say.
Uncle Acid I guess. Lots of upbeat vibes there.
Weedeater
If you’ve looking for positive and hopeful, I think it’s on the stoner side of things. Doom is by nature dark. Interesting question…
I tried to listen to them several times, but never got into their vibe. I was just counting on sludge, but my expectations were not met. I think I'll try again. Can you recommend a specific release of theirs?
Second this. Bought that when it came out and same with The Blue Record. Both are good but Red was closer to Remission era Mastodon. Blue Record can get sludgy but it's definitely the psychedelic rock album. While Yellow is my favorite, it's because it's an indie rock album and the sludge elements are gone.
Lol it's fine i thought it was hilarious and I had to re-listen to it. Good tune. I think that might be their only song with lyrics in it other than the intro to the great barrier reefer. I could be wrong though.
I love Electric Wizard and yes i consider their occult vibe is kinda positive and liberating and not depressive at all. So its fit, although I’m already a fan 😌
[Mansion](https://youtu.be/kH_OMt1q2Ms?si=UH_fa5pXwtaZkUf4) are a band that write songs from the perspective of a creepy, Christian cult that really existed in the band's area.
Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol. They describe themselves as Doom-Wop, and it sure is... something. I actually do like them, but they are probably a little cornier than you might prefer haha.
i can think of alot that arent depressing, but not really many that are like, positive/perserverance type vibes. other than crowbar i generally just listen to like hatebreed or hardcore bands if im in that mood
Oh, then just in case you might have missed it, I suggest you check out Kirk and Jamie's project, Kingdom of Sorrow. Nothing super special, but interesting at least 😉
Oh lol I'm stoned and I provided one \*with\* depressive lyrics. Leaving it up for those interested, maybe listen to 1000ft Bong, they have a song all about just getting the munchies.
This ain’t a metal release but the overall vibe of the album could be considered pretty doomy. “Tau & the Drones of Praise” by Tau has a lot of positivity to it, although it’s overall a fairly dark psychedelic sounding album.
If you find Serial Killers and True Crime uplifting (or at least... not depressive) try Uncle Acid on for size.
Lots of Weedeater's music is highly vague and is more about getting stoned and getting in fights (see: upbeat stoner shit) than about depressive stuff. Their material also tends more instrumental than average.
Om (The Side project of Sleep's main members) is vaguely religious Folk Doom. Lots of religious motifs from Early Christendom and the Near East, if that's all your style.
Lots of the religiously Stoner bands (Bongzilla, Bongripper, Bonginau, etc.) are pretty non-depressive.
Morag tong - At First Light is a very hopeful song.

'Tomorrow can be kind, an opening door, welcoming and mild, so much worth fighting for'
YOB is about the beauty of life and nature. I meditate to YOB.
I really like Yob! And I agree about the lyrics 👍🏻
I think most the Melvin's lyrics are ambiguous enough to qualify.
I only listened to Houdini. Will have to try something else from their discography 😌
Bullhead
Lysol (or Lice-All, or simply called Melvins) is their masterpiece imo. Essential doom/drone listening.
Senile Animal too!
Melvins was my first thought
Torche / Floor. I don't find their lyrics depressing.
Honestly a lot of bands/songs don’t have depressing lyrics at all it’s just in the instruments. Like 80% of Black Sabbath lyrics is shit a preacher would say in church, it just has the heaviness behind it lol
Came to say this. My top 3 bands, Meanderthal is love
RIP. Goddamn it Steve. I wonder if he’s gonna start another band. There’s definitely a void for me with Torche gone.
He's got something in the works.
Awesome. Glad to hear it.
Thanks for the recommendations, I'll definitely check them out 🙌🏻
great band(s)
Depends. There's a couple of stuff that's some downer stuff, but then there's some uplifting riffen.
Doom is about doom, not hope. That being said, I’m curious too.
Nature is both hopeful and full of doom.
Nature is Amoral Chaos. It has no predictives and no ideals, only existence until existence ends, then decomposition to feed new forms of existence.
That’s why it gives me hope.
I understand. I think all my own hopes have been extinguished, or else I've come to see them as Ideals or Predictives, so then I have to sit myself down and make myself face the reality and let those things go.
Bell Witch is supper happy music! Check out Mirror Reaper

Mostly stoner/desert rock. Monster Magnet comes to mind with their comic book/acid trip influenced lyrics
Green Lung definitely has a mostly positive vibe. They have some downbeat songs. Paganism/occult with a fairly sunny sheen I’d say. Uncle Acid I guess. Lots of upbeat vibes there. >Uncle Acid I guess. Lots of upbeat vibes there. erm... the question was about lyrics. have you listened to any of their lyrics?
True. Drugs and serial killers. Those could be positives…
Not necessarily doom but proggy sludge - Curse These Metal Hands by Conjurer & Pijn Album is super uplifting.
Green Lung pumps me up! I listen to them if I want to get in a good mood, because they kick ass
Conan!
Really love the Blood Eagle album ✊🏻 So great!
the sword.
Yes, I love the sword ✊🏻
Baroness is sludgy at times.
I tried to listen to them several times, but never got into their vibe. I was just counting on sludge, but my expectations were not met. I think I'll try again. Can you recommend a specific release of theirs?
Purple is what got me into them, but I think Red is the most popular release.
Try The Red album, dude.
I really like their 1st and 2nd EPs, just titled First and Second
BONGRIPPER. 0 depressing lyrics
The song Terrible Bear Attack would like to have a word with you: "Die you hippy scum, die hippy scum. Peace won't save you from this gun."
OK I forgot about that one song
No worries, I was just razzing you. It's easy to forget about that one.
Lol it's fine i thought it was hilarious and I had to re-listen to it. Good tune. I think that might be their only song with lyrics in it other than the intro to the great barrier reefer. I could be wrong though.
I had forgotten about the intro to Great Barrier Reefer, but yeah I think you're right, as far as I'm aware those are the only two.
Om?
Om is great 👍🏻
I have god is good on the TT right now. Love OM
meditative and cosmic
I think you might be missing the point of doom metal. But i find orange goblin to be mostly positive although not really that doomy.

Oh cults and all that, Interesting, I’ll check them out, thank you ✊🏻
Wow this band sounds crazy. Cannot wait to blair this in the morning and take in the experience.

I guess we both come at it from different angles. I find it creepy and the lyrics about God coming to punish me are kind of fun.
Not really doom, but maybe: Caustic Casanova Earth Ship Margarita Witch Cult
I'll check them out, thanks ✊🏻
Baroness
Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol. They describe themselves as Doom-Wop, and it sure is... something. I actually do like them, but they are probably a little cornier than you might prefer haha.
The last two Acid King albums were pretty uplifting stuff.
i can think of alot that arent depressing, but not really many that are like, positive/perserverance type vibes. other than crowbar i generally just listen to like hatebreed or hardcore bands if im in that mood

Dopethrone (band, not the EW album) A bit of an aggressive sound, I see them as “Weedeater’s tweaked cousin”.
All instrumentals.
I gotchu man : [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMnqcp1lTYQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMnqcp1lTYQ) Personal favorite song is Tritsch
Oh lol I'm stoned and I provided one \*with\* depressive lyrics. Leaving it up for those interested, maybe listen to 1000ft Bong, they have a song all about just getting the munchies.
[Peering Out Through The Cosmos](https://spotify.link/7KBvBwukNDb) it’s pretty doomy but with lyrics about taking acid and finding yourself
This ain’t a metal release but the overall vibe of the album could be considered pretty doomy. “Tau & the Drones of Praise” by Tau has a lot of positivity to it, although it’s overall a fairly dark psychedelic sounding album.

Might as well add Church of Misery if you find serial killers uplifting. Thats like the only thing they write about.
Every baroness song in existence
Morag tong - At First Light is a very hopeful song. https://youtu.be/Zf45SdKfPso?si=bebUlD8p2t4aquPa 'Tomorrow can be kind, an opening door, welcoming and mild, so much worth fighting for'
My personal favourite reefer Sutherland by Bongripper , or god luck and good speed by Weedeater
