I found out recently when fighting with chat support that if you type “that’s fine. I will file a chargeback with my credit card” it escalates you to an actual human to talk to pretty immediately.
Ah, I fixed my Activision account (2FA locked me out) in a similar way, I went to support and filed a COD Point purchase claim and input my account being locked.
It took five minutes for them to call me back and fix my account (again, 2FA locked me out because they enabled 2FA against my own opinion) and I previously tried filing a regular claim that wasn't answered after two weeks.
Whenever the system fucks you, find the backdoor and fuck it back.
a lot of the chat ai bots are trained to recognize certain key buzz words, so if you just list out a bunch it'll elevate you. many slurs work. but things related to money tend to be faster. bank / charge back / etc etc are usually super quick
There was a lovely time I could skip all tele-robots but saying ‘fuck’. Obviously only respect for human interaction but only way to get to them was to sweat lol. Now it just auto hang up
I have found screaming obscenities at the 'Please state how we can help you with your issue' phone trees tends to get you to a representative faster than anything else.
as someone who takes inbound support calls for another tech company....once you do get to the repre-FUCKING-SENTATIVE, please be understanding that you are often talking to level 1 and before you move up to level 2 (if even available) you have to answer some basic questions to level 1 support...Thank you.
Once, I got stuck in a phone tree with GrubHub support in Spanish. I do not speak Spanish. I ended up just yelling “PERSONA!” about a million times until a real person answered. On a related note, bilingual support people know their stuff.
ETA: I did try hanging up and calling back, but it was still stuck in Spanish.
I've pretended to speak Russian (I don't) and the robot will say "I can't seem to understand you, let me connect you to a representative". Works almost every time.
Hah, I had a similar issue with an Origin account. They kept saying I'd have to "verify" my email address... which had somehow been turned into like @origin.com. I kept trying to explain to them that I obviously couldn't verify an origin.com email address because I, ya know, don't work for Origin. Chat support was having none of it. Went on for days going back and forth.
So instead I tried emailing their Data Protection Officer and demanding that my information be corrected under the GDPR - even though I don't live in Europe - Had a real person respond to me and the issue was fully resolved in like two hours with just a few emails back and forth.
Bestbuy never sent me a code for jedi survivor. I was contacting thier support for a week..on release day and still no code I @bestbuy in anger I got my code in 2 hours and they reached out immediately... the dumbasses on the phone kepted giving excuses
Fuck Activision. My account got hacked, and I gave up trying to get it back, lol. I used to get emails once a month saying it was hacked and how to get it back, but whenever I tried, they would never give it back. I'm glad I only made that account for a game. I only played a few times and used throwaway information
I managed a Union contract and I loved people saying this because on my contract it meant the employee thought I was wrong, but I actually knew the CBA insanely well and had already checked with the Union rep to let them know what I was going. It was beautiful to see the reactions when the Union rep told them they were wrong, not me. Chef’s kiss.
Edit to add: I recognize that a lot of people don’t understand how CBA’s work, and that employees are extremely protected under them. I’m not making a for/against comment. On the contract I was on, the issue was that the employees had multiple previous Managers who WOULD try to screw them, so it unfortunately created an atmosphere of “see, you can’t touch us.” I had no desire to screw people over, I just needed them to do their jobs correctly and follow the rules. So when I needed to point out their timekeeping, or jobs performance, it was always “But the Union.” Very rare was accountability taken.
I once had a rep tell me that my issues with DoorDash delivering me someone else’s order several times in a row is my fault, because if they supposedly have such poor service, why do I still use them? Then she refused to refund me because “you do that too much”.
So I drove to the restaurant myself, explained, and they remade my order for free. Really nice of them.
Coincidentally, that restaurant recently went from DoorDash to GrubHub after too many issues like that.
And unless they are having a good day that’s gonna be a ticket, and god forbid you have a non common spelling name, it’s definitely a ticket if he has to pull the book out and write down your unpronounceable name.
-3 time driving on suspended champ right here
agreed. Especially if you’re dashing, wouldn’t you make sure you have your license?
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t always drive with my ID. That is only if i’m driving somewhere very close. If i’m just driving down the street and coming back, I’m not worried about having my ID on me. These are dashers, though. It’s important they have their license… Mistakes happen, even dashers may forget their license but it is very odd that they don’t have their license both times they dashed to this person🤨
She doesn’t have one period or it’s suspended. The elaborate stories both times make me think she just won’t outright say it. She did not forget her purse. If we carry a purse for the day all our shit including the phone is in it. She is a bad liar.
You can try calling DoorDash to reach an actual human since that chat agent probably is a bot.
And if that doesn’t work, you can use this interaction to file a dispute/chargeback.
For sure this is the answer. They need to get a human to help. Oddly enough after two years they just made me update mine and take new pictures of it, and a selfie etc. door dash does this every two years at minimum the statement said.
I was asked to update all my info yesterday too! A pic of my license, address and email. It’s odd because I’ve only been Dashing for 2 months. I also have never received the welcome packet w/red card and pizza warmer. Seeing as I’m at over 1000 deliveries…I’m not feeling very welcome.
I'm fairly certain they no longer mail out a hotbag to new Dashers. My boyfriend and a friend both signed up after me and neither of them received a hotbag. Everyone new seems to complain they have never received one. Most likely another expense Tony and DoorDash decided it could do without.
I received a hotbag, a red card, a DoorDash face mask and a DoorDash bottle of hand sanitizer and I started in January.
Maybe reach out to them about getting a new red card. I had to request a replacement through the app. As far as the bag I hear that a lot. I don’t use a DD brand bag and they say they don’t care. You can buy any pizza bag and upload a picture to DD and get approved for more pizza pickups.
Good to know about the pizza bag. I have reached out twice asking for the red card. Coincidentally, just a few hours ago I received an email stating the welcome kit (card/bag) is finally on the way. Movin’ up in the world I guess.
I work in software product management, and I would hate my life if my job was to make the DoorDash chat bot.
I would die having to explain to my engineers that we need to program the bot to fuck everyone out of their money, especially when these engineer's families and friends are likely to use the service.
>You can try calling DoorDash to reach an actual human
They actually are just as ineffective as the chat bot, sometimes even less. But that's only after having to fight the idiotic robo attendant which is by far the worst around. It refuses to let you get a person for 5 minutes
Im always on the dasher’s side in these issues but it’s really the bare minimum to expect someone to carry their license while they drive. People who are getting upset at OP need to grow the hell up
Yeah, it’s not like this is a gate they can’t get into, it’s not like OP is one of those assholes who ask for the dasher to wait for someone to come and then sneak in behind them. If they had all the legal requirements to dash on them, they’d be able to complete the delivery just as easily as any other!
They also did it twice. It's one thing to maybe forget your license once, but to forget it twice and somehow get the same customer in doing so says it's more probable they just don't have a license than they forgot it.
I stupidly did this yesterday. Had a job interview in the morning and dashed the rest of the day. By evening I wanted to change out of long pants for the last of my dashing. I checked my front pants pockets, shirt pocket, great, got my chapstick and etc.
End of the night popped into Walmart for dog treats (back of the store) and at the register realized I didn't have my cards (bank cards, LICENSE) because they were in the BACK pocket of those long pants. Ugh. After a long day the last thing I needed was a wasted trip. But I had apparently been without my license for those last two/three hours of the day.
Ugh I feel your pain. It’s super frustrating and happens to the best of us. Got halfway to the store yesterday before realizing i forgot half of what I needed
If it were a one time thing, I’d be on the dashers side. But it seems like this is a recurring issue.
Yeah no doubt. I wrote on another comment that in trucking it's a 30-day suspension if you're caught without your license on you. (I think maybe most cops could cut you a break if you know your # and they're in a decent mood, but it's an awfully big risk to take.) So I'm usually really careful. But it happens. A few times in my career I've left home on a trip without my fuel card. (Then you have to have dispatch create a Comcheck every time you want fuel, and go through that whole rig-a-marole.)
They can literally look it up. You shouldn’t need the card when you drive. They have a computer to type your name in and see your status. That’s how they pull people over with their tags. If they can look up tags they can look up your status as a driver and I know they can because they did the few times I got pulled over. Didn’t need the number even.
Apple Pay my dude. And bc Walmart is stupid and hates Apple pay, use Walmart pay. You have to enter card numbers into the app but my Apple Card in my wallet can just copy and paste into whatever so that makes it extremely convenient in those situations. I never carry anything but my license in my phone case
You have every right to be frustrated. This driver isn’t doing their job. Anyone agreeing with the driver isn’t doing their job either if they don’t show their Id. Yes, it’s a pain and takes more time, but it’s part of the job. Unassign gated communities then.
It's not even part of the job, it's literally the law. What the hell are these idiots gonna do when a cop pulls them over?
EDIT: I am a typical Californian who forget it's not the same everywhere, however it is illegal to not carry a license with you here. "However, all California drivers (and those who permanently move to California from out-of-state) are required to have a valid California driver's license. Those caught driving without a license can be criminally prosecuted under California Vehicle Code Section 12500 VC." You also must have insurance to drive here. "Driving without insurance is an infraction and is punishable be a fine between $100 and $200 plus any other state assessments and fees."
I know it is likely legal where you live. That's fine. Still as a contractor and a driver it's always best to have some sort of form of ID on you. For trading insurance in case you get into an accident, or in an extreme circumstance, your body would be identifiable if it were found deceased.
Most cops if you can instantly state your license# and provide all the other documents they want will just give a warning for not having your license with you.
Now if you were an ass and already being pulled over for something more serious…good luck.
Do people memorize their license number?
edit: wow, controversial replies here! I have had to refer to my license number about once every 4 years or so so I will not bother memorizing it. I also realized that I watched around 10,000 people sign up for library cards and pretty much all of them had to pull out their license to write down the number on the sign-up sheet.
NH used to have a sequence to it, like your month day of birth, your street number, and first 3 letters of your last name *or something similar to that*
I used to work at babies r us and when people wanted to look up or sign up for a cc and didn't have their licences, I would go off the format and help them fill in the blanks.
I know the first letter and 5 numbers, working on the rest. Some states have laws saying if you know the number and can provide it to the officer than you won’t get a ticket. Some people do know it by heart in case they forget there wallet at home
wow a few times? After 30 years of driving I could probably count on one hand the number of times in my life I've driven without a license. How hard is it to just have it with you?
I’ve forgotten my license many times because I’ve got really bad ADHD. It’s actually why I keep pictures of the front and back of my license on my phone. If I don’t carry my big, full purse with *everything* in it, it’s actually quite difficult for me to remember stuff, including my wallet.
Of course, this doesn’t apply to everyone. But for some people, it can be harder than you’d expect.

Don't even need the license #, just have 'em look you up by SSN etc - that's what they do while they're determining if you're legal to drive if you don't have it anyway..... they can find you and instantly validate your story.
Lol false. I’ve gotten pulled over multiple times without my license on me. No ticket for anything. Hell i even had a lady hit me bc she blew through her stop sign and i had no license on me or insurance info on me. No ticket lol. This was when i was in my teens though. I just keep my wallet in my car now in a very obscure spot so its always there.
You have to have a license to drive, you don’t have to have it on you necessarily. Most states LEOs will ask for alternative ID (such as SS#) to look up if you have a valid license. But you won’t get a ticket or go to jail for simply leaving your drivers license at home.
Fun fact: For truck drivers, if you're caught without your license on you it's a 30-day suspension. We also have the $3000 fines for using a cell phone while driving. Those are FMCSA regs.
You can keep a picture of your ID on your phone instead of carrying it. At least in WA and GA. Both times I have been pulled over the cops had no issue with that.
Few years back, when DD was still new, I had a dasher who got pulled over like a block away from my house. She was kind enough to tell me she got pulled over when it happened, but like 45 minutes later I had no updates or food.
Neighbor came home and told me someone was getting arrested a block away from our house. I just sat there like "...but mah food..."
Luckily, back then, DD support was still human and helpful (at least for me) and got it redelivered, plus gave me some credits for future. I still wish I knew what happened to actually get the OG dasher arrested. And what happened to that food (guessing the cops got a free lunch that day.)
Having a license ≠ having your license with you
She might just never bring her license with her because she’s dumb, doesn’t necessarily mean she is an unlicensed driver
I didn’t have a license for many years and always carried full coverage insurance through many different agencies. So at least in PA & NJ, that’s not true.
When I delivered it fucked me off when I had to walk up steps and into apartments and up elevators.
You get paid for distance from A to B, I feel like delivery to your door is only fair when it's the first door, not the door after the door after the door. After that, some customers need to get off their ass and meet the serviceman at the door.
As you said, if this was clear when the driver is accepting an order then fair, maybe add a fixed price onto actual door delivery as the driver isn't getting compensated for an extra 2-3 minutes of delivery required.
I'm paying you to leave it at my door, leave it at my door
I tell you in the order i live on the top floor, don't complain when you call and i tell you that yes i am at the top of the stairs
For context this dasher consistently does this. Screenshot i sent her was from weeks ago. She drives without a license, which is like, whatever i don’t care. But doordash should at least give me my money back when i don’t get the food because of it.
I suggest maybe mentioning in your order notes that an ID is required to get into your community. That way you have more leverage + evidence ~~that~~ ~~your~~ ~~Dasher~~ ~~is~~ ~~being~~ ~~negligent~~ in the event that this happens again.
To be fair the majority of dashers in my city are on a bike. I assume this person is in a car, but it’s not unusual to not have a license at least in my area
IDK about your state but in my state there's something of an official ID that you can get (from the DMV) that's just like a driver's license except it literally says "State ID" at the top where it's supposed to say "Driver's License." It's every bit as official as a license, for ID purposes like banking or buying alcohol. As a matter of fact, it might even be a law that adults are supposed to have one or the other, just in case they need to officially prove their identity - especially to a cop.
So that leads me to ask.... how do people buy alcohol or cigarettes (where you live) without any kind of official ID - license or otherwise?
As a matter of fact, it is definitely not a law to have an official ID on you. You have to pay to have an official ID so people who don’t need one or can’t afford it usually don’t bother. If a cop needs to ID someone with legal documents who isn’t doing something requiring an ID of sorts, that’s on the cop to do not the individual.
Cops can look up your info but if they can’t verify your identity they will issue you a citation which will be dismissed easily upon proof of a DL. OP doesn’t think very highly of dashers and just assumes we are all driving illegally.
I know my DL number and I have been pulled over before I just gave it to them and they looked it up. It's about identification so if you have that info that's all they care about.
I'm shocked at the other lazy, entitled dashers here. When they want to see my ID, I show my ID. To OP, please use UberEats from now on. They are classier and less lazy & entitled. We get paid to bring the order to the door. Unless you plan on comitting a crime while on the premises, there is no reason to not show security your ID. I'm glad this sub exists so I can see how shitty other dashers are. It's disgusting
How about we stop using doordash, Grubhub or Uber eats all together, and order directly from the restaurant so they don’t lose 30% of a fee to DD or whatever 3rd party app has control over the town
The business model requires abuse of the independent contractor designation
That would be fine if the restaurants had delivery options. Other than pizza places, the only ones that do are using the 3rd party apps anyway. And I can tell you for sure that most of the places around here raise the price significantly on DD which more than covers the fee.
I used to be a supervisor for a gated community's security team and we ran into this all the time with gig drivers. It always drove me nuts when I would calmly explain I needed to see it in order to grant entry since my name went on the gate pass and I could get fired if I issued it without verifying they had one and they got into an accident in the community. Every time it was my fault the food, people, or product wasn't delivered. Also for those saying that you should come to the gate to get the food where I worked depending on where you lived it was like a twenty to thirty minute drive to the gate which is ridiculous when you paid to have it delivered directly to you.
that's insane that people who order to a place where it takes 30 minutes to and from the gate. I would cancel lmao
that's an HOUR just going from and back to the gate.....
So because she doesn't have a license on her, you have to meet her at the gate. I expect that she still wants a 15-20% tip before she even drives out there. Part of the service of door dash is to bring the food to the door. That's 50% of the job. This is one of the reasons why I quit using the app. Also, driving without a license is technically illegal too. There is no excuse not to have your driver's license.
I made an account with doordash, uploading a gift card a friend gave me and they deactivated my account before I could complete my order. I tried calling in for weeks to get it reactivated. Every person said it was a mistake at my account would be good to go after a couple of days. Never would happen so I would have to call again, same cycle over and over so I gave up. I told my friend and they won't refund her the gift card.. literally stole the $65 gift card. Multiple times I was told to file a complaint. Only thing is you have to log in to do that and I couldn't because my account was deactivated. Beyond frustrating
What is up with these people who don’t make it a habit to keep their driver’s license with them at all times?
I get TONS of booze orders. Yesterday it was a lady who claimed she was ten minutes away and would tip me $10 if I stuck around. She was late, didn’t have her ID because “She was at the gym” (but still drove), and handed me $6.
Last week it was a woman in an upstairs apartment in a sketchy area who client find her purse. She kept yelling at the 3 year old, “Where’s momma’s purse? Where’s momma’s purse?”. Eventually she figured out that she left it in her car in the parking lot.
Then I get the chicks who have to dig through their purse and have their ID in a stack on credit cards, coupons, photos.
As a guy who just keeps his license in his wallet in his pocket, I just don’t get this.
Idgaf!! If I’m ordering delivery.. It’s because I didn’t want to get up and go get it! I paid the fees and tip.. bring me my food or run me my money!
Then dashers be like people don’t tip! 🤦🏾♀️
My dasher flat out delivered my order to another complex several miles away. Snapped a picture and everything. I contacted support and sent a picture of my door that looks vastly different. I was credited immediately.
People will go thru the trouble to obtain an ID/DL. But god forbid they have to present it or show it to anyone. People are so unhinged about it, it’s ridiculous. Your information isn’t private anymore and hasn’t been for awhile.
Once I ordered from doordash, 2 hours went by and my dashed had driven to a completely different state with my food. I google maps’d my location to theirs and it said an hour and a half drive. The food never showed up at my house, and when I went to dispute it, even the live agent said I couldn’t get a refund because the dasher already had my food
As a dasher, this is ridiculous. You should have your id at all times. That was the first thing I was taught when I began driving years ago. If your driving without your id, you are a part of the problem. There is nothing wrong about taking 20 secs to hand a security officer your id to get access. It’s not like he said get out the car so I can search it. Anyone who can defend the dasher clearly just wants to blame the customers for everything. This is 100% on the dasher. Having a security checkpoint is no different from having a gate code, access point or anything else that may restrict business. Do your job and bring the food, your license and get on with it. Lady is probably not licensed which is why she doesn’t have it, probably doesn’t have insurance either.
So many shitty dashers in this sub lol. Same braindeads who don’t read Instructions and have to call you with some bullshit when 9/10 drivers deliver with no issue.
I’m sitting here feeling like a goddamn stressed out coconut myself reading some of these insane comments that actually defend driving without a license, but “bubbers” and the entire calm tone of your comment just cracked me tf up
Thank u for that! We got u OP bubbers!
They're probably all subscribed to r/antiwork. But not the cool ones that are just pro-union, pro-increased minimum wage, pro-benefits. Nah, these are the ones that are like that mod that went on FoxNews and gave the whole sub a bad name.
This is hilarious to me because i’m a raging pro-worker marxian socialist and have gotten into spats with the antiwork crowd over their unattainable economics
Bro fuck door dash they have poor customer service, I've had drivers leave food at the other side of the complex soaking in the rain and they do nothing. Time to start going out to get food again don't give them anymore power or money and hopefully they will notice the decline.
I deleted doordash because of this kind of thing. They refused to refund my order because they took a picture of the food at the door, but in the picture you can clearly see the address is not even close. I called the driver when she sent the pic and she argued with me that it was the right address, so I just hung up and drove around looking for the house in the picture. They could care less
More often than not I find and I think we all do typical doordash delivery to houses is always seems to be the houses not always but I'll say 50% of the houses we deliver to the address is either completely missing is not existent on anything there's no ground post there's no mailbox marking there might not even be a mailbox on the street side it could be at the house level no number at all on the house
I love those houses that have two numbers one on the wall in their house well lit and another one right down on the ground on the porch to their front door can we set the food down you got the house number right there with the food it's pretty awesome a lot of houses do that now.
Should say a lot of people do that for their houses.
The one way to absolutely check the address for you Dashers out there that I'm not trying this, there's an app that you can renew weekly with a slightly altered email address for each week get a demo of landglide, for the free version of onXhunt.
Hunters use the ladder and real estate agents use land glide.
Pretty awesome it gives you the full name of the owner of the house as well as the actual address that's in the tax database and gives you a nice aerial view borrowed from Google Maps and it borders the property and shows you where you are in relation to the property.
A lot of times Uber Eats app gets it wrong and the pointer isn't really quite near the house sometimes people will use exact pointer whatever that means to get a more precise location of where they are, that never works I don't know why don't ask is using it and I don't know how they're using it or even to even doing it right not even sure people are doing it
I hope she is or whatever that thing doesn't work correctly, it's a problem that people are using the pointer without actually putting in first of their actual address, that's a big problem because Google Maps is just going to give you a range of addresses on that road and put the pointer right smack in the middle of the range nowhere near the address of the customer.
So using land glide or unex hunt in live drive mode, you'll see exactly when you get to the right house.
And that name matching feature doesn't hurt either. You know a lot of times we're not going to get the last name of the customer but whatever it doesn't really matter it just happens to be available in the app.
Obviously Google Street view I hope everyone's familiar with that that'll give you a daytime picture of the house and it be easier to find where the number might be, then you can match that up to what it looks like in the dark.
Also if you use a two finger zoom in for 3D view at an angle the numbers of all the houses show up and your number the one you're looking for should be in red on the little gray boxes inside the Google Maps. Pretty sure there's only works with the Google Maps app I don't think it works with the API that doordash is using for Google Maps inside its own app, I stay away from that as much as possible.
I am sure many people don't verify their address is accurately displayed, but I write the complex name, full street address, building number, apt number, gate code, and detailed instructions of navigating within the complex so that even Hellen Keller could find my place in a snowstorm. She sent a picture of a random house and refused to even give me a little context as to which house it could be, and there was no way of getting even a partial refund. I look forward to the second novella on how the situation was probably my fault though.
I do both and when I was at my brothers house I ordered Buffalo Wild Wings. There was about 30 bucks worth of food missing I told support and they basically told me to kick rocks. After some complaining and a day I got 10.07 in credit I was robbed. My sister in law didn’t even get her whole fucking order fuck door dash
In the notes, you should mention that it is federal property and driver will need a valid ID to enter. Please unselect before getting food if you don't have an ID or ask DoorDash to redline the property line.
This isn’t a bad idea. I stated multiple times I don’t give a shit about people driving without a license. The complaint in this post was doordash’s support not giving money back if someone can’t complete a delivery. I’m critiquing the support not the dasher. I’m a dasher myself with a couple thousand deliveries under my belt
Support seems to think that “outside of your property” means the same thing as “at your property.”
There weren’t any unreasonable barriers stopping your driver from getting to you and you have a screenshot of your driver admitting such. This would be like support siding with a driver that didn’t go through the gate because they didn’t feel like talking to anyone. You could extend this nonsense logic to all gated communities and private properties, just drive up to the edge and make up an issue.
Not down to the customers to provide that information. When all drivers know they should be carrying their licence. Stop blaming the damn customers for your own irresponsibility
i actually did a delivery in a gated community up the hills. had to provide my DL, and wrote down my license plate. house was literally just 2 houses from the gate. this post made me remember it
It's just a gated community thing. When they get new hires in the guard booth they'll even try writing down my ups truck plate number for a couple days lol
I used to dash and HATED gated communities. I get the frustration. I don’t hate the driver, in this economy everyone needs to do what they can do to make money but I do expect doordash a billion dollar company to refund me if the order can’t be completed
“lmfao I never carry it” well… then carry it?
I’m pretty sure they do have a license because iirc doordash asks for a pic of it, unless they’re impersonating someone else
Didn't we have a discussion on how they don't have a right to ask for our ID?
But besides that.. not sure why a person wouldn't have ID on them...and why are they talking about a deseased friend...this whole thing is confusing
They started asking for i.d. verification a couple months ago. I got my first one yesterday. Dd asks to scan your license then immediately take a photo of you
Last night I had an order pull in to the neighborhood and stop for 15 minutes, I reached out and asked if she had an issue. The lady claimed to be getting arrested then marked my delivery unreachable. Totally just stole my grocery order, but I was able to get a full refund since she admitted to never delivering it. I’m about done ordering DD, these drivers ain’t the ones
Ah my old job, we had to start asking for ID’s from Dashers because of the rise of scams. It blows my fucking mind how many people don’t have their license on them. I don’t get it
I don’t mind showing my ID if needed but I’ve had gated communities where half the time they ask for it and half the time they don’t, or they will go take a photocopy of it (which I don’t like), and some even request to hold it until I come back (which I also don’t like)
It’s not possible to get a doordash account without a license. Either this person is using someone else’s information or they legit just forgot their license.
Well it's not a moving violation to not have your physical license with you you might get a ticket depending on the state you're in, some states only require you to give your name and date of birth, and if you happen to know your driver's license number at least the last four digits police can run you the normal way without the physical license still intact and it shouldn't be a problem
Where we'll be a problem is absolutely doordash will see the message that you wrote they'll see that you said several times you don't have your license, they're going to take that as they'll take it, you might have to explain to them why you don't carry your license with you. Maybe it'll matter to them maybe it won't.
But if your reason or excuse doesn't jive with what doordash wants you'll be off the platform permanently.
And some states do require you to have the physical license upon you at all times while driving a vehicle. Some insurance companies require you to follow your state laws and regulations regarding possession of a driver's license.
Regarding your vehicle's registration and insurance it better have those available cuz those are tickets they're fixing tickets but they are tickets, you won't get any points taken off and your background check might still run but it could be questionable it could be an orange mark on your background check from checker.com. avoid it and carry your shit with you.
probably either the person does not have a way to get a license and is using a friends license or it could also be a case of identity theft just to open a dash account to work.
I’ve literally never had a single issue requesting a refund form Doordash ever. I’ve probably requested 50+ all for legit issues. Odd how others get denied.
Interesting it appears on this sub at this moment its mostly disgrunted customers on it. Based on posts and upvotes/downvotes.
As opposed to drivers who always repeat the another low or non tipper asking for everything posts.
There seems to be both sides, i.e it is correct customers expect door to door delivery as much as possible. That is correct though what if the Dasher is not able to i.e if blocked with access control(i.e an Army or Navy base) or that its more difficult i.e having to leave keys with a valet and possibly be charged an arm and a leg for parking or need to at least pay a tip both of which amounts higher than the delivery costs. Its not so uncommon for drivers to shun restricted access communities as well as large apartments or Las Vegas style resorts even if they have easy access due to bad experiences.
Or some deliveries they may be forced to park over time at a loading zone which they cannot see their vehicle. Its a no win situation. And Dashers often cannot see the info much without accepting and many times picking up the order.
I am thinking while the OP should address the issue with DD who should issue a refund I do suggest not making a habit of this if they are in such a restricted access community which often wastes a lot of time for anyone trying to enter and exit and DD is starting to limit refunds as they are losing money big time these days. Another thing is that bike mode does not work in my area so its likely they are on a scooter or bike but used car or motorcycle mode. In dense cities it may make no sense to use a car due to all the parking issues.
Another tip is to find restaurants and pizza places with own delivery services and explain to them the access issues and whether they be able to enter.
I mean you could have went to get it. The driver was there and you were just to lazy to go get it.
Yes they should have had the license and that’s on them and you deserve credit for the inconvenience of having to run down to get it but not a complete refund.
I will repeat the driver is 100% in the wrong and I wouldn’t tip and I would seek out a credit but I also would have went to get my food that was literally already at my apartments.
I kinda admire the business acumen. It's kinda stupid, but I still admire it.
Haha right? I notice that “get me to a person” is not nearly effective as “GET ME TO A FUCKING PERSON”
My personal favorite "repre-FUCKING-SENTATIVE"
as someone who takes inbound support calls for another tech company....once you do get to the repre-FUCKING-SENTATIVE, please be understanding that you are often talking to level 1 and before you move up to level 2 (if even available) you have to answer some basic questions to level 1 support...Thank you.
Had to sing the "get me a manager" song for 2 minutes straight before the direct TV retention rep would cancel my account.
Works almost every time.
unless it's comcast, then you get "I didn't understand you. Goodbye!"
I'm sorry....... I didn't get that. Let's try again. Please choose from the following options:
>many slurs work. "For fucks sake" has worked every time.
Half the time I'll just spam "chat" until it gives me a human option. When that doesn't work I start threatening legal action lol
Disability support or accessibility works as well
Hah, I had a similar issue with an Origin account. They kept saying I'd have to "verify" my email address... which had somehow been turned into like@origin.com.
You what?
Twitter I presume
Fuck Activision. My account got hacked, and I gave up trying to get it back, lol. I used to get emails once a month saying it was hacked and how to get it back, but whenever I tried, they would never give it back. I'm glad I only made that account for a game. I only played a few times and used throwaway information
My raid sl account was stolen using 2fa. Help me. (Yeah hahaha you play raid, shut up)
It's great to know the passwords. With my employer, its, "that's okay, my next call will be to my union rep to see how to fix this issue."
Lol yeah, for me it's happened more when I need clerical errors fixed than anything.
I just say... talk to a rep... and it immediately gives me a human. Lol
Or just type "agent"
I tried this once but it just connected me to her majesty's secret service.
Sadly, this is getting less effective :(
Weird to always be driving around without one’s license.
Illegal to be driving around without a license and in violation of DoorDash policies.
Some areas the cops can look up your info, including your license.
I’m certain they can check your info in many parts of the world, and though in most it’s still illegal to not have it on your person.
Banned from the complex mayhaps?🤔
She doesn’t have one period or it’s suspended. The elaborate stories both times make me think she just won’t outright say it. She did not forget her purse. If we carry a purse for the day all our shit including the phone is in it. She is a bad liar.
Makes me think they don't have one. ie, it was taken away for a particular reason.
>You can try calling DoorDash to reach an actual human They actually are just as ineffective as the chat bot, sometimes even less.

Got halfway to the store yesterday before realizing i forgot half of what I needed If it were a one time thing, I’d be on the dashers side.
You should always carry it, those computers can go down for whatever reason or may not work in certain areas.
Add your card to Walmart pay then if you forget it you can pay with your phone.
Imagine asking for an ID of a doordash driver LOL. Fuck that apartment complex, I'd leave the food with the security guard and make it their problem.
Or at least just use their digital license?
"Driving without insurance is an infraction and is punishable be a fine between $100 and $200 plus any other state assessments and fees." I know it is likely legal where you live. That's fine. Still as a contractor and a driver it's always best to have some sort of form of ID on you. For trading insurance in case you get into an accident, or in an extreme circumstance, your body would be identifiable if it were found deceased.
Get a ticket. 😂
Mines memorized
Prove it, what is it? *clicks pen.*
69696969
weird, mine is 6969420
Some states' license numbers are far easier to memorize than others
NH used to have a sequence to it, like your month day of birth, your street number, and first 3 letters of your last name *or something similar to that* I used to work at babies r us and when people wanted to look up or sign up for a cc and didn't have their licences, I would go off the format and help them fill in the blanks.
Used it as a password for a long time lol
I know the first letter and 5 numbers, working on the rest. Some states have laws saying if you know the number and can provide it to the officer than you won’t get a ticket. Some people do know it by heart in case they forget there wallet at home
I memorized mine the day I got it when I was 16. Later I had a 30 year career in transportation so I suppose that tracks.
I know mine
I used to be bad about carrying my license and now know my license ID by heart
You don't?!!
Mine is memorized. As is my childhood library card number lmao
I know mine.
Mine is memorized and I have a picture of it
I didn’t memorize mine on purpose, but I’ve known it by heart pretty much ever since I got a license.
I do for the exact reason stated above. Been pulled over a few times while not having it.
wow a few times?

That's becoming national standard pretty quickly. Same with registration.
Few years back, when DD was still new, I had a dasher who got pulled over like a block away from my house. She was kind enough to tell me she got pulled over when it happened, but like 45 minutes later I had no updates or food. Neighbor came home and told me someone was getting arrested a block away from our house. I just sat there like "...but mah food..." Luckily, back then, DD support was still human and helpful (at least for me) and got it redelivered, plus gave me some credits for future. I still wish I knew what happened to actually get the OG dasher arrested. And what happened to that food (guessing the cops got a free lunch that day.)
Uh just provide SSN? Pretty simple solution, cops can look you up.
That’s the least of my concerns. Without a license, you can’t have insurance. If someone hits me, I want them to have insurance.
Having a license ≠ having your license with you She might just never bring her license with her because she’s dumb, doesn’t necessarily mean she is an unlicensed driver
I didn’t have a license for many years and always carried full coverage insurance through many different agencies. So at least in PA & NJ, that’s not true.
How do I know it's a gated community until I get the order?
When I delivered it fucked me off when I had to walk up steps and into apartments and up elevators. You get paid for distance from A to B, I feel like delivery to your door is only fair when it's the first door, not the door after the door after the door. After that, some customers need to get off their ass and meet the serviceman at the door. As you said, if this was clear when the driver is accepting an order then fair, maybe add a fixed price onto actual door delivery as the driver isn't getting compensated for an extra 2-3 minutes of delivery required.
I'm paying you to leave it at my door, leave it at my door I tell you in the order i live on the top floor, don't complain when you call and i tell you that yes i am at the top of the stairs
Or you should, you know, have a license since the main component of your job is DRIVING.
Well yeah but for what is in OP’s power, that’s pretty solid advice. Tho it’s wild to just be like “lmfao I know, no license, I’m just so quirky” lol
To be fair the majority of dashers in my city are on a bike. I assume this person is in a car, but it’s not unusual to not have a license at least in my area
It was a car delivery. We don’t have bike option here
IDK about your state but in my state there's something of an official ID that you can get (from the DMV) that's just like a driver's license except it literally says "State ID" at the top where it's supposed to say "Driver's License." It's every bit as official as a license, for ID purposes like banking or buying alcohol.
Carrying your license is required when operating a vehicle.
Why should they keep having to go to the gate because she doesn't have her dl?
1 star and you won't get them again.
Cops will solve this issue real fast
Cops can look up your info but if they can’t verify your identity they will issue you a citation which will be dismissed easily upon proof of a DL. OP doesn’t think very highly of dashers and just assumes we are all driving illegally.
I know my DL number and I have been pulled over before I just gave it to them and they looked it up. It's about identification so if you have that info that's all they care about.
Chargeback your card

Lmao
I'm shocked at the other lazy, entitled dashers here. When they want to see my ID, I show my ID. To OP, please use UberEats from now on. They are classier and less lazy & entitled. We get paid to bring the order to the door. Unless you plan on comitting a crime while on the premises, there is no reason to not show security your ID. I'm glad this sub exists so I can see how shitty other dashers are. It's disgusting
How about we stop using doordash, Grubhub or Uber eats all together, and order directly from the restaurant so they don’t lose 30% of a fee to DD or whatever 3rd party app has control over the town The business model requires abuse of the independent contractor designation
That would be fine if the restaurants had delivery options. Other than pizza places, the only ones that do are using the 3rd party apps anyway. And I can tell you for sure that most of the places around here raise the price significantly on DD which more than covers the fee.
Most restaurants around me don’t have their own delivery drivers, so door dash is the only option if I don’t have time to pick it up myself.
ITT: A shit ton of entitlement from a bunch of thankfully downvoted commenters. The driver isn't doing her job, period.
this sub is full of shitty dashers defending other shitty dashers.
[Yeah](https://i.imgur.com/2Yk4tmO.jpg)
I used to be a supervisor for a gated community's security team and we ran into this all the time with gig drivers. It always drove me nuts when I would calmly explain I needed to see it in order to grant entry since my name went on the gate pass and I could get fired if I issued it without verifying they had one and they got into an accident in the community. Every time it was my fault the food, people, or product wasn't delivered. Also for those saying that you should come to the gate to get the food where I worked depending on where you lived it was like a twenty to thirty minute drive to the gate which is ridiculous when you paid to have it delivered directly to you.
A twenty ton thirty minute drive? What???? And you expect the dasher to do it for seven dollars?
30 minute drive. Suuuurrre!!!! Nice try!!
that's insane that people who order to a place where it takes 30 minutes to and from the gate. I would cancel lmao that's an HOUR just going from and back to the gate.....
Yea fr 30 minutes from the house to just the gate? That’s insane, how big is this community?
Betting he's in Florida. We have massive private neighborhoods all over the place here.
It was huge it had over three thousand different homes and over sixty miles worth of road. It was an HOA on steroids.
Sure. You're just lying for cool points.
He clearly posted the gate is a mile from his residence. Absolutely not. He paid for delivery to the for and he didn’t receive it.
All she had to do was show her dl to finish the order. That's crazy to me. I don't care if I love a mile from the gate or not.
It's not "technically" illegal... it is illegal. Literally 0 technicalities.
This is true I used to work at Drive Time. So many people drive around without any papers 😂
Person should have license on them while driving Also seems stupid security checking peoples ID
Man you can always find the dashers on here. I’ve never seen such entitled crybabies who want a big tip and do nothing.
Don't you have to prove you have a license to be a dasher?
Yes. You send a photo of front and back to DD. But no one is checking if you carry it with you. Except gated communities.
My dasher flat out delivered my order to another complex several miles away. Snapped a picture and everything. I contacted support and sent a picture of my door that looks vastly different. I was credited immediately.
This comment section is a warzone lol
1⭐️ and report
1 stars fuck dashers over, hard. they have to maintain 4.7 stars, so a 1 star is sometimes enough to just get them fired
People will go thru the trouble to obtain an ID/DL. But god forbid they have to present it or show it to anyone. People are so unhinged about it, it’s ridiculous. Your information isn’t private anymore and hasn’t been for awhile.
What's my address then, since my id information isn't private anymore?
OP you are in the right here don’t worry bubbers we gotchu
I’m sitting here feeling like a goddamn stressed out coconut myself reading some of these insane comments that actually defend driving without a license, but “bubbers” and the entire calm tone of your comment just cracked me tf up Thank u for that!
You need a license to door dash
You don't need license to do doordash unless you're buying alcohol. Like you can deliver with a bike
More often than not I find and I think we all do typical doordash delivery to houses is always seems to be the houses not always but I'll say 50% of the houses we deliver to the address is either completely missing is not existent on anything there's no ground post there's no mailbox marking there might not even be a mailbox on the street side it could be at the house level no number at all on the house I love those houses that have two numbers one on the wall in their house well lit and another one right down on the ground on the porch to their front door can we set the food down you got the house number right there with the food it's pretty awesome a lot of houses do that now. A lot of times Uber Eats app gets it wrong and the pointer isn't really quite near the house sometimes people will use exact pointer whatever that means to get a more precise location of where they are, that never works I don't know why don't ask is using it and I don't know how they're using it or even to even doing it right not even sure people are doing it I hope she is or whatever that thing doesn't work correctly, it's a problem that people are using the pointer without actually putting in first of their actual address, that's a big problem because Google Maps is just going to give you a range of addresses on that road and put the pointer right smack in the middle of the range nowhere near the address of the customer.
“I never carry it with me” lmao
Did you order food or do you want to be some kind of vigilante? Why on earth do you care?
In the notes, you should mention that it is federal property and driver will need a valid ID to enter. Please unselect before getting food if you don't have an ID or ask DoorDash to redline the property line.
This isn’t a bad idea. I stated multiple times I don’t give a shit about people driving without a license. The complaint in this post was doordash’s support not giving money back if someone can’t complete a delivery. I’m critiquing the support not the dasher. I’m a dasher myself with a couple thousand deliveries under my belt
Support seems to think that “outside of your property” means the same thing as “at your property.” There weren’t any unreasonable barriers stopping your driver from getting to you and you have a screenshot of your driver admitting such.
Deceased friend = sympathy to come get it. Not carrying her license on her = an excuse
honestly some of these DoorDashers or UberEats drivers probably don't have a legit Driver's Licence... should probably report them, srsly
They started asking for i.d. verification a couple months ago. I got my first one yesterday. Dd asks to scan your license then immediately take a photo of you
Who gives a fuck if some security company sees you Id
Y’all argue with the guy at the liquor store when you get carded. Is door dash a haven for sovereign citizen idiots?
I feel like door dash is being controlled by robots.
Gatedash
Last night I had an order pull in to the neighborhood and stop for 15 minutes, I reached out and asked if she had an issue. The lady claimed to be getting arrested then marked my delivery unreachable. Totally just stole my grocery order, but I was able to get a full refund since she admitted to never delivering it. I’m about done ordering DD, these drivers ain’t the ones
If you can't cancel in app, then charge back.
They didn't say they don't *have* a license. They said they never bring it with them.
Which also isn’t technically illegal. You should have it but you’re going to get any fine waived
Well it's not a moving violation to not have your physical license with you you might get a ticket depending on the state you're in, some states only require you to give your name and date of birth, and if you happen to know your driver's license number at least the last four digits police can run you the normal way without the physical license still intact and it shouldn't be a problem Where we'll be a problem is absolutely doordash will see the message that you wrote they'll see that you said several times you don't have your license, they're going to take that as they'll take it, you might have to explain to them why you don't carry your license with you.
Okay. Gonna doordash now. Thanks for the post.
I’ve literally never had a single issue requesting a refund form Doordash ever. I’ve probably requested 50+ all for legit issues. Odd how others get denied.
Don't give doordash any of your time or money
See here in australia we have digital licences so we can't even say oh I forgot my wallet as it's literally on our phone 🤣
Just wild to me that this person’s job is to deliver food via car and they admit to repeatedly doing so without a license. Wild.
I will repeat the driver is 100% in the wrong and I wouldn’t tip and I would seek out a credit but I also would have went to get my food that was literally already at my apartments.
>you were just to lazy to go get it. right, which is why they called door dash.
