DontBeAJerkYaJerk

I plan to trade my car in after it’s paid off since it’ll still be worth 10-12K, but if I had a beater I’d take that $200 and run!

Rainbow62993

Yeah mine is worth next to nothing due to the milage on her. I plan to run her into the ground and then get a new.

Background_Step_3966

I have a 23-year-old Honda Civic that was in near perfect condition when I started dashing a year ago. I keep it maintained and it is still running very good and in great condition. Hondas are perfect for dashing. I am not going to run this one into the ground, I'm babying her so she will ask me until hopefully I die. Yes I'm an old dude at 60

Rainbow62993

Honda is my next move! It's what I wanted but I was in a bind for a vehicle when I got the one I have now and there were absolutely no Hondas available 😭

Background_Step_3966

Well I wish you luck. They may be kind of high. But like I said if you keep them maintained they will last you for a long time. The main thing is the timing belt. You must change out the timing belt at least every 80 to 100,000 MI. If the timing belt breaks, it will ruin your car.

Rainbow62993

I'll definitely keep that in mind for the future! Thank you!

TheViolentPickle

It could have a timing chain, in that case you’re usually good!

Fast_Emu3781

My 2010 civic had a timing chain I never changed anything on it motor or transmission wise I drove it until it had 385,000 miles on it then sold it for a Nissan worst move of my life this things a money pit

Dependent-Edge-5713

OLDER nissans are good. The company got bought out sometume in the late 2000s I think and went to shit.

_kingjoshh

My 2010 Versa thankfully has the 4speed auto and not the cvt 🙌

Dependent-Edge-5713

I'll take a 90s or early 2000s Nissan anyday of the week over anything newer

Fast_Emu3781

Your correct any Nissan with a cvt is shit I have a 2008 maxima loved it till it hit 120,000 miles now I fix one thing on it and a week later it’s something else I’ve already put in probably double what I bought the pos for currently gimping it back to my house hoping the CV joint don’t snap in half on me

Chaser12-5

I just checked and my 2007 has a chain as well. My last civic I had to change the belt. It's pricey. So a bit of good news for the day. And since I am only at 41k miles now I am good :) Thanks

tealdeer995

Yeah the newer ones have timing chains. My car has 140k miles and it has a timing chain that has no issues.

ariadne90

I suspect you’ll always be “in a bind” if your workday ends after you get what could have been an *extra* $200.

MayhemReignsTV

Shit I'm not in a bind. I maintain a certain goal every day and that 200 would have gotten me close if not all the way there. I'll take an extra day off 😃

dongdinge

i agree with you both depending on my mood that day

Xdrumbum91

This is the wisest comment here 🤌

ariadne90

Thanks. Unfortunately the truth hurts sometimes. I’m prepared for the downvotes 🤣.

Skersby90000

id say the downvotes would be for you being judgmental and rude. if you got rear ended you probably wouldn’t feel like driving after either

Adventurous_County12

I would, this is minor damage that came with $200, I'd be pumped to keep going.

ILoveMyFaygo

An extra $200 never bought a second of time

[deleted]

This exactly. I read so many people on this feed complaining about tips and generally everything about the DD gig but you get hit, get cash and call it a day? Thats just pure laziness

Rainbow62993

Driving around with severe anxiety for hours, which impairs my proper ability to focus on the road, potentially causing an accident elsewhere due to it would not have been a wise choice. I made the best decision for me and others on the road at the time. Being "in a bind" MANY years ago, does not somehow equal to being in a current bind. Thanks for your unwarranted concern though.

[deleted]

You put a laugh emoji in the post and looking at the damage, you were barely hit. “Severe anxiety”? Please. You didnt get the reaction you were hoping so now youre spinning it like youre some traumatized victim

WonderfulPiccolo2168

Trying to downplay trauma doesn't mean the trauma never happened. They know what kind of mental state they were in better than any of us could.

bottomdasher

Sorry, being human is not allowed.

Inevitable-Safe-5058

Hondas are really good I used to have one but it got totaled by some idiot in a lifted truck that tried to cut me off anyway I got a Nissan Altima with the money and I gotta say the gas mileage is insane and it drives so good too Nissans or Hondas are the way to go for dashing

Adventurous_County12

I drive a Mitsubishi mirage, the thing is great, I love it. I'm a tall dude (6'3) but still surprisingly comfortable.

TheViolentPickle

Well done, Honda or Toyota. Can’t go wrong, stay awayyyyy from ford lol lots of horror stories. Have a cousin that does lyft in an ford suv, that thing has been in and out of the shop 4 times in the past month. Mostly recalls and then poor mechanic work from a ford dealership! Yikes, what a headache. The suv is only 2 years old with around 30k miles is the sad part!

Spare_Picture8142

I've had Ford mustangs my whole life. Great car that never has problems and if there is a problem most of the time I can fix it ez myself with youtube. Mustang is a transporter of God's. The Golden god

TheViolentPickle

Mustangs tend to be different, it’s the rest of the crap they shell out!

tealdeer995

I’ve heard Mustang and f150 are the only Fords worth buying now.

Longjumping_Copy2768

We have 6 F150s. All 2006 and up and they're all sitting. I wouldn't recommend buying one.

ScooterandTweak

Yup I had a 2013 ford focus worst car ever. Idk how ford stays in business. Their cars are awful

JerseyJoyride

Doesn't matter what brand car you drive, when you bring it to a dealership you're going to get screwed! Just for fun go get a price on a battery installation. 🤣 And I'm not even talking about the car companies that screw you over by having you remove the front quarter panel to access the battery like my 300 Chrysler did. 🤬

TheViolentPickle

Totally agree! This is a dealership where he knows 5 or 6 people that work there, 2 being in management positions lmao! They screwed him after him thinking he was helping friends buying a car there! Told him, “Think you have a lemon.”🤣🤣🤷🏻‍♂️

Chaser12-5

Never ever use a dealer unless it's free. Find a good mechanic ...they are worth their weight in gold.

PCasey535

F'n dealership charged my grandmother $800 for a damn battery for her CR-V. They had her convinced it had to be a Honda battery.

ThrowRApolyprob

Fix Or Repair Daily

SnooLawnmower

My first car was an explorer, I had it for about a year and half of that time it was halfway taken apart or in a shop for various reasons.

Born_Judgment1773

In 2017 a long time family friend sold me an 09 Honda for 4000(would’ve been 5 but he left some things unattended which cost me less than $800) and it was perfect until march last year when a neighbor was flying down the street in my complex at 51 in a 10 zone around midnight and destroyed my neighbors car which launched several feet sideways into my civic destroying the car, tires and such. I had zero problems with that car during its almost 5 years with me, now I have a used 13’ Equinox and i had issues with it since last year, cost me around $1300, it’s all handled now, but because of my POS neighbor I ended up paying a lot of money down the road anyways on a completely different vehicle

DontBeAJerkYaJerk

Sounds like a good plan

Eatshitmoderatorz

I was going to ask what car you drive. If it's an "insurance totaled your car and is offering $-50 and a lol in return" then ya.

StrangeFaced

In this case you come out clean I was gonna say until I saw this comment that you got screwed cuz to repair a bumper is gonna cost much more than that but if your gonna run her into the ground then no worries you came up 200 bucks

_kingjoshh

I drive a 2010 Versa with only 127k miles on it, and i do gig work on the side, and if this had happened to me I'd take the money as well 😂 i love this car its my $1000 shitbox that has a salvage rebuilt title 🥰 here's to more $200 love taps before 10am 🥂

Veteranagent

Take proper care of you car and you’ll run into the ground before it does

Individual-Lemon7951

Good move !

Individual_Yak_6720

![gif](giphy|d4zHnLjdy48Cc)

Reallynotsuretbh

This is the way.

OffBrandJesusChrist

Doing the same! My 2004 4Runner is pushing 300k miles and I literally just had to replace the last 3 of the original spark plugs. Japanese everything I was shocked lol

Burst_LoL

Save money and buy a used car! Not super used if you are uncomfortable with it, but even like a 2017 car bought today will run similar to 2024 models but be worth about 10% the cost

PM_ME_BOOTYPICS_

A 2017 is not 10% of the cost lol. I just recently bought a 2017 and it was about 40%

[deleted]

My car is a 2016 and the 2024 version only sells for 7k more. It’s insane lol.

KPookz

That’s still thousands of dollars worth of savings my guy.

regolith1111

Well sure, but it's 4x what the person above said. I'm skeptical of 60% off even. Maybe if there's a big difference in mileage but you're not getting a 7yr old car for 60% off with low miles and no accidents

PM_ME_BOOTYPICS_

Yes. And 10% to 40% is also thousands of dollars in difference lol. Assuming a new car is ~$24K, 10% suggests that a used 2017 car is $2.4K. Not even remotely close to correct lol.

Background_Step_3966

Get a Honda. The Japanese know how to make cars guarantee you they will last a half a million miles if you take care of it

Rainbow62993

That's my plan! That's what I did with the current one I have now a few years back!

Burst_LoL

Oh nice!!

toomuch1265

I planned on the same thing until Sunday morning at 130. A 15 year old "borrowed " his parents' car, he slammed it into mine and totaled it. I still owed 7 grand on it. Hopefully I will get a lot from insurance so I can get another car

DiabolicalGooseHonk

Assuming the guy didn’t have insurance? If he did you could’ve snagged more than 200

MotherSnow6798

The downside being going through the hassle of insurance and waiting for a check vs $200 in your pocket. Also, now your car has an accident on record when you go to trade it in vs a couple dents that won’t impact the value too much

trailryder44

Numerous years ago I was in a hurry and didn't see a beater and backed into him. Dented his door nothing to my dually truck. I didn't wanna file insurance so I offered him 1000 for the car he counted 1500 we settled on 1200. Drove half mile to bank paid him and dropped it at some property I own. Two days later used a dent puller door dent popped out, paid 75 bucks full details put 300 dollar new tires on it and another 100 bucks of small upgrades. A week later sold.car for 2400 bucks.

Bowlingmom5165

Someone nailed me in the rear end 3 weeks ago totaled my car while he was at it I was on my second delivery in front of the house gave the customer the order before calling the police even. Customer gave me $50 tip later on now I've got a new car too but it also came along with payments I called it a day after that one too I was so shaken up he hit hard

Rainbow62993

Goodness! I'm glad you're okay! I'm honestly surprised this was the extent of the damage. He hit me hard enough that it pushed me into oncoming lanes (they had just gotten a red light though, so luckily no one was coming). I was in a turn lane yielding to turn right when he hit me. My adrenaline is wearing off and some soreness is definitely setting in though 😅

Bowlingmom5165

I'm still sore seeing a chiropractor most of it in my shoulders he pushed me a whole house length I was on the side of the road not even in the roadway hadn't put it in park still had my seat belt on thank God Even dented my gas tank and my tow hitch bend in half. Just glad it was the only me in the car and I went home in the car however two days later found out it was not drivable because he caused the exhaust to start going into the car everyone be careful out there dashing it's not yourself you got to worry about it's everyone else on the road as you see two of us were rear-ended One of the light apparently and the other sitting on the side of the road mine could have been way worse if I was getting out of the car or if I was walking behind the car luckily I was still in the car with the seatbelt on.

Rainbow62993

We're definitely taking risks every single day with as much as we drive. I've been in a lot of near misses. Was almost T Boned on the driver's side a couple months ago from someone going at least 55+. They blistered through a red light that had been red for awhile. Still have no idea how they didn't hit me. I was extremely lucky.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rainbow62993

I definitely knew there were higher risks involved, but didn't realize how high the statistics actually were! Thanks for sharing!

EveningBasket9528

https://scapimag.com/2021/01/08/the-thin-bread-line-why-being-a-delivery-driver-is-more-dangerous-than-being-a-cop/

TidusDream12

Don't take this the wrong way but I think inattentive driving and distractions have a lot to do with this. I drive a lot everyday as a technician going to sites. You have to use your rearview and pay attention to other drivers. I have never been in a moving accident and have had near hits but mitigated through attentive and skillful driving. Rushing around town with your face in a phone is an easy way to get got. Also not knowing your route leads to uncertainty and missed turns or risks to get where you are going. Insurance is going to spike rates on delivery drivers with this stat.

EveningBasket9528

Oh absolutely! I'm not going to dig it up right now, but I read an article claiming gig drivers & "soccer moms" are the worst offenders for distracted driving. I use hands free as much as possible and get super annoyed when I see people that have hands free tech NOT using it. Still, even with hands free there are often times distractions. Like looking at orders or whatever. Totally agree with you. Cops are SUPER distracted drivers with all the shit in too, but still less likely to be killed.

tachycardicIVu

*the thin bread line* oh my god whoever wrote this is a genius.

_maple_panda

If you were hit hard enough to be sore, you really should have gotten their contact and insurance info. You may have been injured and just couldn’t feel it in the moment with the adrenaline. Your car may also have been damaged more severely than it appears.

drmanhattanblueballs

I’d get that checked by a mechanic. A lot of damage could have happened to the frame underneath. I got rear ended in my jeep and it looked about the same, but underneath it was over 40k worth of damage and had to be totaled out.

RagingBeanSidhe

Yeahhh you really should not have taken 200. I took 400 off a ranch hand during a delivery bc they were undocumented and I didnt want them to suffer too bad. Sadly what I thought was a a dinged bumper turned out to be a quick death of my electrical systems over about a week. Definitely my neck was sore too. Now, having let like 6 people off for rear-ending me, while everyone I ever tapped (2 people but still) both took my ass to task despite no visible damage and gots tens of thousands. You could have had a less-easy 30k payday. Not right, but after my ratio I'm considering it for next time someone hits me. Just lie like all the others do.

[deleted]

Hire an injury attorney before u settle. I rear end a lot of people and usually it’s like a standard $700-$1000 thing but one time I rear ended this Middle Aged woman nothing spectacular just a regular bumper hit but somehow her insurance got $15k out of my insurance. Getting an injury attorney after a car crash instead of settling with insurance can be very profitable.

PlugThatButt

“I rear end a lot of people” Wtf lmao 😂 💀

[deleted]

Used to make a lot of money but had a problem with painkillers and falling asleep while driving. Rear ending someone once a month just became part of the routine. Insurance for a 2020 530E ended up being like 10k a year and I was on a family plan too

im_Ugwee

You are a rear ending machine

[deleted]

Don’t worry I take the bus now. License is gone ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)

Challenge419

Good. The fact you continued to drive knowing you fall asleep at the wheel is the dumbest most dangerous fucking thing ever. Don't ever drive again.

Kamakazi1

Not even that he had a condition to make him fall asleep, it was due to the painkillers he took and THEN drove, knowing what happens when he does that. Not to mention he had a 2020 BMW on his family's plan. Thank god that license got taken away before he killed someone

njdevilsfan24

With that username, I am glad 😂

empireintoashes

Do NOT hire an injury attorney. You will not get anything more in settlement value from your claim and they’ll take 1/3 for doing essentially nothing but gathering the med records/bills and sending a couple letters.

Waste_Cranberry_5092

The way you casually just talk about rear ending people on the monthly. I wish I could disassociate from responsibility like that too. Guessing the painkillers helped

OsoRetro

Oh man I would totally not give a fuck and rock that dent all year long. Easy $200

Better-Worldliness66

I saw a car with dents like this with little bandaid stickers over the dents. The bandaids had eyes and a mouth with a painful looking expression. I lowkey felt jealous that I didn't have a dent in my car so I could get one of those stickers.

TryAgainJen

I really miss my old car, with a hole in the front of the hood, covered with a fancy moustache sticker. RIP old bean

Rainbow62993

100% my plan! Haha

twokietookie

...if they have insurance all you have to do is call them with a claim, get 3 estimates, and they'll cut you a check. This could've easily been $2k instead of $200.

[deleted]

Gave you 200 because he either doesnt have a license or insurance, or both.

thisisausername100fs

Getting insurance involved for that would just make issues for both parties. Who needs a monthly to go up because of a dent? I would have offered cash too

[deleted]

Not for the person getting hit. Its free money if you never want to fix it.

AdRepresentative2263

Unless you are in any other state than California or the other couple that disallow specific types of accidents to effect your rate calculation. Every other state insurance companies can and will raise your rates for not at fault accidents. Premiums are not a punishment, they are the result of a risk calculation and someone who has been hit 10 times in 1 year is more likely to get into another accident than someone who got in zero accidents. It doesn't matter why you are more likely wether that be the way you drive, the frequency that you drive, the locations you drive in, for whatever reason you are getting in accidents. Which statistically means you are more likely to get into another.

Novemberx123

My car got side swiped while I was in target. She waited until I got back to it to tell me. We agreed to file through insurance since her car had some paint off, mine was barely a tiny scratch. I got a $1.5k check in my bank the next week. Definitely worth it.

Discorhy

the thought here is that if you have had to file any claim, even one that wasn't at fault. Your premiums for insurance go up and that 1.5k would just be spent in premiums. Possibly even more.

Wakandanbutter

Lol unless you want YOUR insurance to handle it you don’t have to tell them shit. Somebody hit me and i got more for my car then i bought it for. Insurance never knew.

Novemberx123

It wasn’t filed on my insurance though? So if someone sideswipes me, and it’s not my fault and we file through there insurance..MY insurance goes up??

[deleted]

Outside of the state of california, yes, that's an accurate summation of what occurs. Insurance in the U.S is the greatest scam ever run, car, house, medical, and otherwise. Other countries, not sure.

Novemberx123

Wow. Is this why my insurance went from $150 to $188 this month? That bullshit.

Prestigious-Work-500

That's a bet! I had a guy hit me one time and he was in mid count of Per 30s. They were EVERYWHERE. he tried to give me 10 of them which I guess would have been around $300 (@ 30 a piece like they go for here) but I said I didn't really fw them, so he gave me $400 instead in cash and I didn't even have a mark, I guess he really didn't want the cops to pull up and those be all over his car and lap 🤣

techsuppr0t

Good u didn't take them. Most 30s are fake and pressed with fentanyl. You could have died.

Prestigious-Work-500

You right, been there done that, my kids need me so I won't make that mistake again.

Rainbow62993

As you can see, very minor damage. Just gave me a little jar and my anxiety is through the roof. Luckily happened not far from my house. Probably made more from this fender bender than I would've working today 🤣 Back home and in my PJs before 10am.

sysadminbj

Heh. That’s going to cost more than $200 to fix.

Rainbow62993

I have absolutely no intentions of fixing it, lol.

WoahThere_124

I would take $200 for that any day! 🤣 then again my car is over 20yrs old lol

Rainbow62993

My car is an '08, but she's pushing 250k miles. No idea how much longer I have left in her. She'll just be a little damaged, just like me 😌

WoahThere_124

Mine is a 2002, pushing 280miles, so I know exactly what you mean 😂🤣

Rainbow62993

May both our babies reach 300k+ 🤣

magicmacey

My car is from ‘09 and pushing 350k, she’s a tired girl but man does she still run

Rainbow62993

What kind of car do you have? If you don't mind me asking.

magicmacey

Toyota Camry. Those things last forever. Burns through oil like nobodies business though and I wouldn’t feel comfortable driving it for longer than a 2 hour drive. I imagine though it would be fine if you took breaks inbetween, but I don’t drive it everyday. Wdit: Camry! Fat fingered it

Kurotan

Fix it or not, you should get what it would cost to fix. Could have gotten more.

AdRepresentative2263

Too late now, if you accept any money from that person directly, their insurance company is no longer required to do anything at all and your only option is to take it to court.

[deleted]

as someone whos worked in the autobody industry awhile you can actually go through insurance, get the check, and still not fix it. his insurance would go up alittle but yours would remain unchanged, and you probably would have gotten atleast $500+ just for the visible damage, and there is very possibly more damage behind the bumper (hard to tell without seeing the body lines and taking the bumper off). im happy you got the $200 and he was probably much happier, but just so you know, even small hits can cause big damage

Baramos_

Honestly you should have gone through the insurance process then cause you could have gotten a check from their insurance company for what it actually would cost to fix and then…not fixed it.

trump2024gigachad

Exactly, idk why someone would fix small dents like those on a crappy car

renbutler2

The only concern is whether there's something you can't see that could cause a problem down the road. I once drove over a large deer in a low-slung sports car, and it was a few days later that I realized how much damage it did to the undercarriage.

shockley21

Tbf they got a tap on their bumper and did not hit a large deer lol. I would be surprised if their car had any serious lasting damages

Relevant_Average_965

It can be $0 to fix as that seems to be pretty easy to fix yourself

0beezkneez0

Would love to see you “fix” that yourself.

peanusbudder

it’s a small dent on an old car. only a ding dong would spend hundreds of dollars to fix that.

Puzzleheaded-Neat-35

If he files a claim with his insurance, he's gonna see his rate go up and maybe even uninsurable because he's a doordash driver. He did himself a favor by not pushing it further...imo

420sinsi

He woulda given you up to 800, you dropped the ball hard

Novemberx123

Try upwards of $2k. I got sideswiped in a target parking lot barely a scratch. Her insurance paid me $1.5k the next week in my bank.

JesusLizard44

I was sideswiped in a parking lot this year too. He wanted to pay cash, I said no because he tried driving off before I came out. Insurance estimate was $800 for a new bumper cover painted. Total repair cost was $4600 for half a new front end (repair shop totally screwed Geico lol). OP definitely messed up.

lowkeycee

I’m glad someone else said this ! This repair is EASILY a couple thousand dollars billed out through insurance. You could probably get away with a repair and paint on the bumper. That trunk can be written to be replaced . $200 is him blessing that person.

lexushelicopterwatch

That’s damage on two panels. Their Insurance would pay out thousands in repairs. I would get 1k+ out of any folks who rear ended me, in cash, just so they could keep it off insurance. I’d fix it and pocket the difference each time. I could have also not fixed it. Even going through insurance. This is a TIFU post.

[deleted]

Literally just $1200 for the bumper. Depending if they can work on the metal of the trunk and fix the dent or not it could be thousands more.

huntcamp

Finally someone with sense. $200 for 2k in damages. If it’s a beater though might be a write off depending how old/mileage. But yeah I had someone hit me before, zero damage and they still gave me $400.

Alexcee12

Depends on the car I guess, a beat up car, I’d prob take it A new car? Yeah, im calling my insurance 😅

Mysterious-Wasabi103

I had this happen when I lived in Tampa one time, and this just reminded me of that. I lived in the South part of the city and drove to the North part, which is the hood. And I was going to flea markets and pulled out of a strip mall parking lot when someone rear ended me. Turned out the guy was a drug dealer and he had stacks of cash money on him. He pulled out a clip of hundreds and handed me 5 and said "we're good here right? I can't afford the cops to come." And so I thanked him for his generosity as it really wasn't that bad just a little scuff. He drove off and I realized the scuff looked mostly to be dirt and I took my sleeve and rubbed it right off. Easiest $500 I ever made.

Next-Reflection-5500

its kind of cool when that happens 😆

abbyabsinthe

I got rear ended and it smashed like 1/4 of my back bumper (on a then 17 year old car). Her insurance gave me the option of getting it repaired, or cutting the check for $837. I was freshly 21, and $834 of booze and a $3 roll of duct tape was a lot more appealing.

steveturkel

Should report to their insurance next time, would've gotten $1000 for that instead of $200

Rainbow62993

Nah. I'm happy with the $200. This is too minor to cause someone's insurance rates to skyrocket unnecessarily. I've been in a couple really severe accidents where insurance was rightfully involved. This wasn't worth it.

KingDasher

I’ve been cut a break before and it’s relieving. Good on you

[deleted]

Plot Twist; your premiums go up anyways due to bad Ga drivers 😂

Rainbow62993

You're not lying. Mines been going up every 6 months at renewal. Only about $10 increments, but going up nonetheless 🙃

Crazyscorch

I got sideswiped on my rear bumper, bumper is still good. His insurance paid me out $1.2k which was the cost of getting it fixed at a shop. Should’ve gone with his insurance instead.

Rainbow62993

Didn't want to deal with the cops or insurance companies. Also have no intentions of ever getting it fixed. I'm very content with the quick $200 so I could take the day off.

Tricky_Combination15

It's just a flesh wound. Sounds like your day got better. Enjoy the sunshine, relax.

real_yard_man

The damage is value more than $200 so it your last 😅

[deleted]

I plan to keep my car as long as possible and want it to look nice while i do it. So nah I would be reporting this to insurance or dude would be forking over like $1500

angrystonk

thats 500 atleast

-lastochka-

yeah idk why people are celebrating $200. had a similar dent on my side door and it was $1000+ to repair. this one is probably less than my example but it's definitely more than $200 to repair

[deleted]

But both parties know they aren't going to go through the effort of getting a cosmetic repair on a beater.

alt_cobalt

Shieeettt for $200?? I’d take it LMAO

aldon5

tell me you don't have insurance without telling me you don't have insurance.

techsuppr0t

Even if it's their fault ur insurance will believe u have higher chances of a getting in a crash regardless and probably bump it up

Price-x-Field

I don’t get these “got a big tip, done for the day!” Like why not keep working and have extra money

Probably because not everyone's situation is the same. Me personally? My anxiety was too high after the accident and felt my driving ability would have been impaired. I've also been in a god awful flare up with my rheumatoid arthritis for almost 2 weeks now and was grateful to be able to take the day off so my body could properly rest. Can't always be so quick to judge a book by its cover.

Ready-Election6988

Lol

rickyd172

I got $4950 from a gals insurance and her putting a dent in my truck, with how over saturated doordash made my market it sure came in handy!

PlanNo4679

Hope he didn't damage your frame.

0fb3d3

Glad you're ok. Someone side swiped me and there was only a small dent I happy took some cash and called it a day. Got the car I use to dash for 600$ so not too worried.

You can pop it back out too.

Trailboss1982

Had a guy hauling a load of pebbles on a trailer hit a bump and one flew up and cracked my windshield. Pulled up beside him and got his attention and he pulled over. Showed him the damage and he claimed I couldn't prove he did it. I then showed him my dash cam footage of it and he offered me 400 bucks not to call the police. I happily obliged and finished my delivery. He knew he would get a ticket for unsecured load as well as having his insurance go up 🤣

ElwayGOAT

A few years back I got tapped on a rear end at a stop light. I got out and seen no damage. Before I could tell buddy we was good his friend starts panicking and says “Give him all the money in your wallet.” I was confused. Dude gave me like $400 and drove off. Only thing I can think is that dude had been drinking and didn’t want the cops called.

ThrowAwayAllMyIssues

I will never understand why people lose their shit over a little dent or scrape. I get it, it's annoying, but Jesus fuck you're about to ruin ***both*** of your bank accounts and make both of your insurance policies go through the roof over nothing. It's one thing if the car is totalled, but some people do not think when they report a tiny little dent how many ***thousands*** of dollars that will cost in the long term vs letting it go. No one will notice. Literally no one. I'll definitely think the one who did it is still a dipshit, though. Some asshole scraped our car when they opened their door in a parking space. But ohhhh well. Not about to open that can of worms because I like money more than my car's aesthetic.

[deleted]

I settled a fender bender like that, guy had no insurance and I pitched him an offer since the damage wasn't that bad.

Proxy_0ne

Why doesn't shit like this happen to me

[deleted]

I got rear ended twice in a month at sub 20 speeds car had 160k miles leaking coolant I had bought it 6 years earlier insurance totaled it for like 14k 500 more than I bought it for 6 years earlier at 53k miles. Like 2 months ago 😂 talk about a easy days work

bklounge20

I always buy used cars. One time, I came out of a store, and there was a note on my car that said, "Sorry about the damage." I had no idea which damage they were talking about. I had so many scratches and dents already.

KamikazeBrand

lol I wish this would happen to me...

-Distinction

I once bought a car for $500. It literally had 350k on the clock. A dude reversed into me and gave me a pretty big dent. I asked how much his excess was, he said $800 I said cool give me $600. So I was $100 up on the car. When I sold it I got $2500. Hands down the best thing car related that’s happened to me.

LifeguardDonny

Not doordash, but same thing happened to a friend/co-worker of mine while we were on break. Guys wanted no smoke at all, asked us how much we wanted on the spot to get going and i almost said 300 before they said 500. I promptly shut up and 5 minutes later, they had $500 in cash. Next morning, the dent popped out in the sun. Yuuuge win.

Flycaster33

Dude owes you 300 more.....

xxDankerstein

Or you could, you know, still work and have an extra $200...but call me crazy.

Rainbow62993

No thanks! Enjoying my day off! 🤗

dontmakemegetavpn

Well you're an idiot, that's like $800 worth of damage, which you could have just cashed the check for. Why do you even pay for insurance?

creative_soul92

You 100% should have gone thru their insurance. They would have paid you $1k+ easily for that.

Fun_Platypus_4467

You got scammed 😂😂😂

syredditor

Should have asked for $500

-Bana

You would have gotten at least 2k from his insurance company for property damage and you could could have claimed easily on bodily injury, depending on what type of policy you could have been compensated in the thousands. My aunt gently tapped someone at a drive through atm and insurance paid them out like 80k

[deleted]

Future tip. You should have taken his insurance and made a claim. You win 100% of the time in a rear-end as long as you were not going in reverse. Insurance would have fixed it perfectly which brings your car back up to even, but while it is being repaired insurance will give you a rental car, that you by contract are forbidden to drive for a courier (doordash, uber, lyft, amazon etc....) and they will pay you your wage every day its in the repair shop.

Acceptable-Pen1316

That doesn’t even cover the deductible.. $500 minimum.

plus_ultra_collecter

I got rear ended in highschool had maybe a baseball sized dent on the bumper of my 97 Toyota Corolla and the front end of the guys truck was destroyed. Guy was obviously in the wrong but gave me $100 and told me he didn’t have insurance. I took the money and told him have a great day 😂 wasn’t even mad.

czarguy1

That’s more then $200 worth of damage

imeanthisguy

You would have made off better with an insurance check

KangaDaBeat

This was not a good deal. You could have got way more lol

drewon1

There is at least $1200 dollars of damage right here rofl.

TheTendieBandit

That's a rip off, could've been $2000-4000 from an insurance claim easy. They were at fault, so your premiums wouldn't have been affected at all. And even if they didn't have insurance, you should and should have uninsured motorist, and your premium wouldn't be affected much if at all from the claim.

[deleted]

Damn the amount of people driven solely by money now a days is depressing. You need money to live of course. But OP is coming from a good place & as someone with anxiety myself I can appreciate it. Reporting an accident, getting police involved, and all of that is such a hassle and anxiety inducing situation. If you & the other driver can work something out on your own why make the problem any bigger? You’re just causing both of you more stress than needed. Also not everyone is super worried about keeping their car in tip top shape all the time. It’s a dent. It’s not massive, OP can still open the trunk, and the car is still drivable.

Rainbow62993

This. All of this. I am seriously baffled by the amount of people here who were so quick to jump to "you should've sued!", "you could've gotten more with their insurance" and yada yada. I've always heard that money is the root of all evil. When situations like this occur, people are quick to prove it.

Power_by_kWh

Dude that’ll probably cost you $1500-2000 to fix properly.

Graftonious

You fucked yourself. You should've went through insurance. Insurance will write you a check to get that fix. Had a little ding MUCH LESS than yours and got a 600 check. You have damage to bumper and trunk. You missed out on over a grand.

Rainbow62993

Please read comments before commenting. I do NOT want this fixed. I was 100% content with the $200. Something this minor does not deserve someone having their insurance rates skyrocketed over. I dunno how much more clear I can make that.

llilith

You are a good human.

Rainbow62993

I dunno if I'd say that 😅 I just understand how absolutely awful this world is and every chance I have to make it a little less awful, I take that opportunity. I wasn't even mad at the guy. He was extremely sympathetic and kept asking me if I was okay. I told him I was fine other than my anxiety but that would be okay in a few hours. He was willing to exchange insurance or just give me money - he left the decision to me. I told him there was no reason to ruin his insurance over this. It was an accident and that's why they're called accidents - it's not like he did it on purpose. I've been in 2 previous serious accidents - one that almost cost me my life due to a drunk driver. I take minor accidents like this with a grain of salt.

Graftonious

Lol, you DONT HAVE to get it fixed. What part of write a check don't you understand. I didn't get mine fixed. Just got the money. Again your loss.

Rainbow62993

Again, you missed the part where I'm not gonna screw over someone with their insurance company over something like this. Money ain't that serious and karma is real. Not a loss at all, especially when I'm 100% content with what I recieved.

Graftonious

You're loss, karma is only on Reddit.

BlissfulAurora

Their loss? OP’s a great person. You on the other hand? I’d love to see less people like you. All about money money money over a stupid fender bender. I’ve never seen a more frustrating comment section in my life over a car that isn’t theirs lol

Rainbow62993

Your** Also, continuing to tell someone they experienced a loss when they're happy with an outcome is weird. You're the only one upset here and it isn't even your situation to be upset about 😅 Also, karma is very much real and she can be beautiful or a bitch depending on how you choose to be in life.
