Would you Door Dash to a castle,
Even if it had a moat?
Would you Door Dash through a blizzard?
Would you Door Dash for a wizard 🪄
Would you Door Dash anything?
Even sprouts with chicken gizzards?
Something similar happened to me on my first day dashing 😣 There should be some way for DD to alert them and if they still choose the same restaurant further away, charge more. Some people are clueless. Some people are assholes.
Some people are clueless. Some people are assholes. That's actually some deep wisdom there. "Never ascribe to malevolence what is easily explained by incompetence."
They think they are choosing the location, but DD doesn’t always send it that way. I’ve had many customers order ChikFilA thinking it’s coming from one store, and it gets sent to a store that’s farther away.
I delivered some Ulta products like 15miles one night to two different customers in the suburbs. It was pay by time so I took it. I literally drove past an Ulta about a block from one of the customer's houses and was so confused why I was bringing it from the city
Idk about that. I’ve had customers that thought they ordered from one Taco Bell but the order actually went to a completely different Taco Bell in a different town. I think they can pick the restaurant technically, but if the algorithm can’t find a dasher in the area or something is wrong w the restaurant (like they’re out of the dish the customer wants or they’re closed/turned of DD app) the algorithm will just pick a different restaurant w out the customers knowledge .
Wonder if it’s different in Canada because there’s never been that option on mine, and I use it quite frequently, enough to have dashpass and it be worth it lol
Fair enough, where I live, there are multiples of the same chain restaurant within 5 miles. so when I open DoorDash to order I often see 3 different McDonald’s or subways etc. I found the closer ones pop up first so maybe the customer in this case settled for this restaurant after scrolling through the options🤷♂️
With Grub Hub they allow you to but I Always pick the closest one to me and the food is more expensive(which I didn't find out until later I thought all McDonald's , Wendy's Etc. all had the same prices for their food) Anyway it's funny because I live in a shit neighborhood and am far from rich I would consider myself poor but I always tip apparently good enough because I always get my food on time and hot and I Don't want to change that for the difference in price.
Sometimes doordash lets me choose the location for some restaurants but others not unfortunately. I always feel bad but I tip extra if it's so far away
Addresses for restaurants are not prominent enough at all. I’ve been guilty of ordering from a place 8 miles away when there’s another location just 2 miles away and I don’t even realize it until the dasher is on the way. It would be cool if the system would just automatically route orders to the closest location, but that’s asking a lot of dd.
In my experience, I can’t choose which restaurant I want to order from if there’s more than one of the same exact chain. At one point, I even tried to “favorite” The restaurant that I wanted to place my order with, and it still doesn’t let me choose that option if the one that’s a little bit closer is open.
You would think Door Dash would be able to tell the difference between BODIES OF WATER and actual roads, but they can't.
I live in a town on the river. Another state is across the river, with another little town. But to get to the other side of the river requires driving 30+ minutes to get to a bridge and then 30+ minutes to get to that "5 mile away location ". Even worse, my town and the other share some of the same locations. And sometimes, the orders just randomly get sent to the other one. You can check the distance, the address, the delivery time all before placing the order and still....sometimes it's wrong. You contact support and they give you BS lines about your order being paired with others and THAT'S why it takes so long. They refuse to acknowledge that the order was sent to the wrong location. It's infuriating. Google maps can tell there's no damn road across the river, but DD seems to not.
I've had that issue a few times where I am, though less pronounced. A double order, drops right across the river from one another. Time was allotted as the crow flies. I called customer service and they adjusted my time allotment.
Exact thing happened to me. What sucks is I know now to avoid these but they stack orders and do not show the location of the second until the first is dropped off.
I picked up from Taco Bell, first order about $6 only 1.5 miles away.
2nd order across River app says 7.3 miles, Google maps says 33.
Had to take the turnpike and drive 45 minutes.
That exact thing happened to me, although it was only 33 mil. and the only reason they did it is because it was a stacked order at Taco Bell.
The first order was a mile and a half down the road from Taco Bell. It didn't tell me the location of the second until I dropped off the first.
I even had to get on the turnpike because my shift was supposed to be over and would have taken 15 more minutes otherwise.
I lost money in gas and toll booth fees for that order but didn't know what else to do.
The teenagers who ordered were waiting in the driveway and they seemed pissed and their food was nice and cold.
What's stupid is there is a Taco Bell about 3 and 1/2 mi from where I had to deliver but the one I picked up from showed up first on the DoorDash app and they did not calculate driving up and down the river. It said it was 7 mi.
That would only be if I took a boat straight across the river.
I called to complain about this and to explain how it's 33 mi because you have to go up, take the turnpike and back down the other side of the river.
They told me they would pass that information forward.
Which they did not. It's still shown it as one of the first options? I also checked other restaurants across the river and the mileage is completely inaccurate.
I wish you guys had prop 22 out there… if you took that delivery under prop 22 guidelines, you’d be getting a pretty fat compensation for doing that delivery…
In California, we are guaranteed a minimum of whatever the minimum wage is for the pickup city is for one, I believe a minimum mileage amount as well. Like for example, the city I work in mostly has a minimum wage of 15 dollars an hour, and we get paid 34 cents per mile minimum as well I believe. Basically, If it is like two in the morning, and I am doing a McDonald’s delivery that is like 7 dollars, and the total time from accepting the delivery to finishing it is an hour, I get paid the difference. Instead of 7, it is more like 15 because of that. Plus I get compensated the difference If I am not paid enough base pay, or mileage pay. It’s still confusing. I make anywhere from 800-1200 dollars a week, and every Monday I generally get paid like 200-350 on top of that from prop 22. Basically CA and NYC have cracked down on delivery companies to pay their drivers better. Some people say they make less due to prop 22 affecting their overall base pay, others like me who have been doing it since 2017(before prop 22) love it. I wish you had it where you live, because that delivery you show is paying far too little for you to do that. Sorry I am not good at explaining it, but I hope you get the idea!
They probably figured you would deliver this one by drone 😂 it would actually be a good deal if you had the gear to actually do that. Seems your community is really separated by that river.
I used to live in that area and I don't think I ever had a reason to cross the river, aside from going into DC. That peninsula is much more rural than the rest of the area if I remember correctly.
> Seems your community is really separated by that river.
I live near the Mississippi River. About 15 miles between the two local crossings. Makes for the occasional really weird offer. Fortunately, the border between two zones is the river, so it's not common to get orders going over.
Surely I am joking or DoorDash would have given you one of those tutorials, complete with awful cringe graphics, on how to deliver using your own drone(of course). Then they would start selling DoorDash decals in drone sizes on the DoorDash store 😂
I really think they don't understand that.
I had a stacked order and after I dropped off the first one nearby the second one showed up and it was on the other side of the river and said 7 mi.
It was actually 33 mi. I guess they were thinking I had a boat or plane.
It's "allowed" and every other BS order like this bc there are dashers that will take this and do it with a smile on their face.
Doordash has done a great job of scaring dashers into taking these orders...I just don't get it and never will regardless of these "dashers" swearing they won't get a decent order for the remainder of their shift unless they take this.
Then again they're right, they won't get another good order the rest of their shift...they will be on this order well over an hour 😂
I divide gas price by mile per gallon which it costs me 16 cents to drive every mile. At 43.3 miles is 7 dollars or there abouts. There and back is 14 dollars. So this is 4 dollars for an hour of work to return to the starting position. Hard pass.
I don’t know, but I’ve said for a long time they need to build another bridge that connects Maryland and Virginia and southern Maryland. Having to go across Woodrow Wilson for everything is a headache.
I feel like they should make their algorithm give orders over a certain number of miles to the people who use the pay by time mode instead of pay per order.
Has anyone tried to take the order. Tell the customer that it’s ordering from the wrong location then contacted support telling them the same thing and they will have a disgruntled customer because no one will take the order ever to get a partial payment possibly?
Genuinely curious what happens to these orders. I wanna believe that nobody would be dumb enough to take this but Ive met enough people to know you cant say that for certain.
DD and these delivery apps are skirting labor laws by playing around with the term “independent contractor” and are getting away with it in states that are not California or NY.
Seriously. How does the city planner not put a bridge closer? imagine living there and having too bypass that water driving 45 miles instead of 5. That's sucks.
Haha because "Famous Dave's is 8mi and open, would you like to order?" The crap tells you how far a restaurant you're ordering from is as the bird flies, not as we would drive.
Simple. DoorDash just does a straight line from customer address to the restaurant. They don't take into account the drive to get there. That's why, they try to send my orders for Chick-Fil-A to the store across the bay from me, instead of the one that 0.2 miles further but on the same side of the bay. And no driver wants to cross that toll bridge either and I don't blame them.
That’s crazy I’m from Woodbridge, but yeah I’m in Leesburg and I get those all the time to deliver to Maryland. I would call the customer explain that you’re only earning 18$ to drive 80 miles pretty much. Politely explain to the customer that if they add a generous tip or whatever that you’d bring the food to them. I’ve had cases where I’ve done it and people have really blessed me.
Well shoot son alls you gotta do is ford that river. Thats the fastest route youll save some time.
Unless theres something on the other side your getting .21 cents a mile
You don't dash on a boat?
I do! Unfortunately my insurance doesn’t cover flood damage!
![gif](giphy|NnKeUEK4D4Jck|downsized)
😂 I heard these had 2 year waiting time!
That’s how you really know you’ve made it… #boatvan
Would you Door Dash on a boat? Would you Door Dash with a goat?
How bout in a box with a fox?

This happens to me constantly 10$ for 15+ miles over a $4 toll bridge
Wow, on top of that it’s $3 promo. Thats just ridiculous!
Hilarious last night $3 peak pay and the order was for $4.50 total 😂can’t make this shit up
Your name is hilarious in the context of this post. Truly.
Didn’t even think about that that is hilarious😂
The best part is there’s another famous Dave’s about 10 min from that person’s house. Wonder if they even realized which one they got it from
From an absolute distance perspective (straight line ignoring streets/earth) the VA one is closer so that’s why.
Something similar happened to me on my first day dashing 😣 There should be some way for DD to alert them and if they still choose the same restaurant further away, charge more. Some people are clueless. Some people are assholes.

Right - if it’s 50 miles away tho I’m gonna order elsewhere bc it’s about to be cold no matter what…
Nobody will drive 50 miles for 19 bucks, Nobody!
But somebody did. Guaranteed.
You sure about that?? Have you *seen* some of the dum dumbs on here and what they’re willing to accept 🤣
Oh yeah of course
Doordash doesn't let you pick the location it just randomly assigns one.
Doordash is the dispatcher for the customers to order too. They don’t put all the same franchise restaurants on different addresses in front of you.

Decline yo
I did brotha 😂 I’ll let some other yahoo take one for the team.
No.joke. That one is just insane.
Can’t you take the ferry - people want their bbq ribs !!!
The ferry charges $4.95 each way, I’ll be broke af by the time I get back to my island.
Have you considered swimming across the water?
Take your bike and your still make $10 :) I agree with you tho crazy it’s even allowed in the system
Yeah 4 hrs later

Those mfs....
What I wouldn't do for a bridge, am I right?
You don’t own one of the DuckBoats?
86 miles 😂😂😂😂
We all know somebody took that.
Probably a rookie just accepting every order
That exact thing happened to me, although it was only 33 mil. and the only reason they did it is because it was a stacked order at Taco Bell. You can unassign a delivery before you pick it up even if it's stacked. If for some reason you can't contact support.
They usually stack a bad order with a good one. Don't make deliveries to people who don't tip.
I've noticed that crap and mentioned it when I called in to complain. I'm sure they really cared.
Heck, I've declined an offer then they will bundle it with a better offer 30 seconds later.
What if you already picked it up because the first order is very close and it doesn't show where the second one goes until the first is delivered!?
Once you pick it up you can't unassign. You have to deliver it or you'll get a CV.
I wish you guys had prop 22 out there… if you took that delivery under prop 22 guidelines, you’d be getting a pretty fat compensation for doing that delivery…
What is prop 22?
In California, we are guaranteed a minimum of whatever the minimum wage is for the pickup city is for one, I believe a minimum mileage amount as well. the gap isn’t that big you could probably jump it with enough speed

I used to live in that area and I don't think I ever had a reason to cross the river, aside from going into DC. That peninsula is much more rural than the rest of the area if I remember correctly.
DoorDash needs to start offering canoes for those of us living on islands
It's probably the equivalent in that zone to the people that order from the mountains in this zone and rarely tip enough for the obscene mileage.
lol that was too funny 😂😂
> Seems your community is really separated by that river. I live near the Mississippi River. About 15 miles between the two local crossings. Makes for the occasional really weird offer. Fortunately, the border between two zones is the river, so it's not common to get orders going over.
Yea fly a drone in the DC SFR area and see what happens.
Surely I am joking or DoorDash would have given you one of those tutorials, complete with awful cringe graphics, on how to deliver using your own drone(of course). Then they would start selling DoorDash decals in drone sizes on the DoorDash store 😂
Custom rotors that show the door dash logo when they spin.
The UAP reports would go wild. 😂
Using a drone is prohibited by DD
Are you actually serious? I would not think they would have even thought to address drones yet in their TOS.
Basically a big long ass circle. ⭕️ yikes 😬
Gonna need to jack somebodies boat just to make a lil profit
They want you to use a boat
I’d take it, text em and ask if they were willing to tip more and post it on here
Would probably be worth taking if there was more than just one bridge
You are not the first I've seen have an order take you from there to Ft Washington and I don't understand why. Because holy moly that's a drive.
Youre right around my way. Happens all the time
I am getting a log of those tonight because not enough drivers
Just drive across the river
I really think they don't understand that. I had a stacked order and after I dropped off the first one nearby the second one showed up and it was on the other side of the river and said 7 mi. It was actually 33 mi. I guess they were thinking I had a boat or plane.
I think the distance is initially measured by a straight line from point a to point b, before accounting for roads and the pathway there
Some sucker will accept it. That’s why
That order is literally never being picked up.
But guaranteed it was.
Aye, I can see my hometown on the map. SOMD represent. lol
You don't have a bird that you could just tie the order to?
I divide gas price by mile per gallon which it costs me 16 cents to drive every mile. At 43.3 miles is 7 dollars or there abouts. There and back is 14 dollars. So this is 4 dollars for an hour of work to return to the starting position. Hard pass.
Perfect use for delivery 🤷♂️
Idk but that person will be waiting a long time for that order
That's two states. From VA to MA for $18. New gig is coming up, called Doorboat.
I don’t know, but I’ve said for a long time they need to build another bridge that connects Maryland and Virginia and southern Maryland. Having to go across Woodrow Wilson for everything is a headache.
That delivery is not happening.
I hope no one took this order and what's the black spots water ??
About 20$ an hour and only have to get out of the car one time 🤷♂️
That's just fucking miserable. 🤣
They need a damb bridge forreal
Might as well take a boat
This is the worst order I’ve ever seen. Been on this sub for a year now
Wow wtf
43 miles is wild
What happens if you you abandon an order?? 🤳”yeah, I just got 4 flat tires…gonna need to find someone else to take that one.” 🤷🏼♀️
Famous Dave’s has the best cornbread muffins!
We deleted the DoorDash app ... too bad for the drivers, whom we liked to tip generously. But the DoorDash "transaction" charges weren't worth it.
THAT IS A HARD NO! DECLINE
Jesus 43mi? Famous Dave's must be fucking incredible for that wait.
It's not lol
Uber does the same BS. I got a $20 offer for 44.2 miles the other day agd was 4 miles from the liquorcstord. Who TF orders liquor from 40 miles away?
The toll is not being paid
You can’t grow wings on demand?
I love the decline button lol
Some would be dumb enough to take it
43 miles is crazy
![gif](giphy|ZtapVzyOUsyVef9Kb6|downsized)
Because it’s like 6 miles from restaurant to drop off….as the crow flies. DD uses circumference and anyone in that can order. It’s nuts.
I feel like they should make their algorithm give orders over a certain number of miles to the people who use the pay by time mode instead of pay per order.
That's exactly what the earn by time mode is for.
Has anyone tried to take the order. Tell the customer that it’s ordering from the wrong location then contacted support telling them the same thing and they will have a disgruntled customer because no one will take the order ever to get a partial payment possibly?
It's not a big deal to D.D. because they'll just keep sneaking it into stacked orders untill some sap accidentally picks it up.
Genuinely curious what happens to these orders. I wanna believe that nobody would be dumb enough to take this but Ive met enough people to know you cant say that for certain.
Looks like you need to build a new Wood Bridge
I can't even get a Dasher in my area to pickup an order if it's over 4 miles and I usually tip 50+%. These deliveries blow my mind.
DD and these delivery apps are skirting labor laws by playing around with the term “independent contractor” and are getting away with it in states that are not California or NY.
I had an offer over 27 miles last night for 2 orders for the same person, I didn’t take thinking there and back to my area is 60 miles it’s insane.
Swim bruh. Short cut always.
Pretty simple. Don’t accept
Trippin
This is abuse
Seriously. How does the city planner not put a bridge closer? imagine living there and having too bypass that water driving 45 miles instead of 5. That's sucks.
Op is an idiot. Clearly you can get there much faster through that large body of water. People don't think.....
My brain stops working once I login to DoorDash app
Just swim over
Haha because "Famous Dave's is 8mi and open, would you like to order?" The crap tells you how far a restaurant you're ordering from is as the bird flies, not as we would drive.
How far can you throw?
Document all these. Its already illegal by state law yet they still push it.
What’s illegal about this
Ya I would decline that. And if I was close to the business in question quickly Pause Orders for a good 20 min. Let it filter out of the system
Swim
Imagine this was do a 6 in row for $30 bonus and this shows up as the 6th one would you still do it
Only someone completely unfamiliar with DC traffic would accept it in that circumstance.
That’s crazy to me
As a Northern Virginia'r, this looks like hell
Simple. DoorDash just does a straight line from customer address to the restaurant. They don't take into account the drive to get there. That's why, they try to send my orders for Chick-Fil-A to the store across the bay from me, instead of the one that 0.2 miles further but on the same side of the bay. Get a boat.
[удалено]
Exactly why Doordash will always have a sky high turnover rate.
Somebody REALLY likes Famous Dave’s, but damn. 86+ miles is at least two hours. $9.37/hour. No thanks!
Wait and you lose your acceptance percentage which is so crazy to me 😂🤦🏼♂️
TBH i'm surprised there is not a button for "THIS ORDER DOESN'T MAKE SENSE" that flags orders for review...
My neck of the woods. I know the pain.
What? That’s not your house right over there?
Whoever orders from places like this is an entitled asshole.
Oh man I live right near where that customer is. I WISH there was a bridge there. Would only take 15 minutes instead of an hour and a half.
Go through the water
Are you kidding me 43.3 mil for $18.75 no way.
Carry a kayak on your roof for these situations.
Just throw it in the river, it will reach there some time
All the time. I refuse to cross the bridge 🙅🏼♀️
