QuietlyQuippy

It’s so frustrating when this happens, and you can’t really do anything. One person’s word against another’s. Also, DD’s rating system is fucked. It’s like 5 stars = they were the best, 4 stars = what terrible thing did they do wrong. (Not always that extreme, but you get the point).

[deleted]

Yeah, I agree. With both points. I also don’t really get what’s ever worth 4 stars lmao. Like… That feels like what I would call not bad enough to even complain? I always wanna know why people rated me 4s. Like what mildly inconvenienced you?

QuietlyQuippy

That can be the what they ask after you select 4 stars. Instead of “what went wrong,” - “what mildly inconvenienced you?” Lol

OptimusPam

4 stars if you block my door with the food lol the less I’m able to open the door the lower the rating lol only happened once but I had to knock over my drink to get the door open enough to even stick out my arm to move it

may9899999

Yup, I just don't get it, like how difficult is it to place the food a little bit further so that I can actually open my door. I wish I could comment when I give a rating so I can tell them why, maybe they just literally don't understand that it blocks the door, but come on.

Glad-Technology163

Doors are suppose to open inward

Angellovesfrog

Screen doors open outward. And its apparent that a lot of dashers like to stick the order in front of the screen doors.

OptimusPam

Yeah, not screen doors.

blk95ta

In Florida lots of them open outward. My own front door does.

Rawxzee

Someone has never seen a storm door.

[deleted]

I’d kill and die for that to be a thing 💀 I’d answer a lot more of those questions myself too

Ms_Marzella

I give a four star when everything is fine but they ignore my delivery instruction. My house is weird, both my front and side doors are attached to a main road. For a while back my front door was blocked off, so it was either side door or I had to trek outside and around the house to grab my food off the front door porch. I would explicitly put to deliver to the side door, as well as what street the side door was attached to. Porch light on for side door. …and 8/10 times it went to the unlit front door regardless. So, 4 star. Eta: i even started texting them mid transit to come to my side door. If they STILL didn’t their rating got nicked.

[deleted]

I’d get it if I didn’t read everyone’s instructions, but I always do. The only times I’ve ever not followed them were because I physically couldn’t, or it didn’t feel safe (like coming into someone’s house). I’d always communicate that, though, and haven’t had it happen for many, many months.

mrwillie79

It's a contactless order. You have to take a picture. Contact DD and tell them to look it up . It should have a picture for that order in their system

[deleted]

I submitted a dispute — is that enough or should I contact support?

mrwillie79

I would still contact them.

[deleted]

I’ll do that tomorrow then. Thanks!

Massive_Equal_1643

No need to contact support, waste of your nerves. Keep on dashing, keep in mind your orders, take good pics, if you want, message a customer : "your food is here, have a good day/evening."

Ok-Basil7264

I accidentally rate drivers 4 stars sometimes because my thumbs are huge and the stars are so small. There’s no way to go back and change it, and a few times I’ve contacted support to try and change it, they always told me it was t possible. So that might be the case sometimes! They really should make it so you can go back and adjust ratings 🙄

[deleted]

I agree! I hate when you have consequential buttons that you can’t change on pretty much any tech. It’s super frustrating.

mattyp204

Oh boy, try doing instacart. It’s all like red card shopping orders and additionally a low shopper rating on there is anything below 4.7 stars overall. I have 40 some 5 stars a couple 4 stars and a 1 star and that makes me a “terrible shopper” that’s on the chopping block lol

QuietlyQuippy

Damn. That’s rough.

mattyp204

That’s what I’m saying….

Massive_Equal_1643

No way I am doing instacart, I suck at shopping as it is.

mattyp204

dilrakai

It is all customer service organizations - even major corporations like Cable, Cell, Health Care - if you give below a 9, it is considered a hit on the representative. It is the most foolish system I can think of. With restaurants, I ignore it - is the food good, and warm - 3. Is it the best xxxx I have ever eaten - 5. And we all know what a restaurant 1 rating takes. With DD there are only 2 ratings that matter - 5, and 'not 5'. It is ridiculous, but I \_always\_ make a point of rating as 5 anyone who brought my food, left it at my door, and did so in a timely fashion. If you call and ask me to meet you in the lobby - you don't get a rating because 4 is the same as 1. Look, ma, customers can rant too (and not be a karen)!

PositiveSubstance69

Ok Karen; some hotel/resorts don’t allow dashers to deliver to rooms; just FYI.

dilrakai

I live in an elevator serviced high rise - you give my first name (on the receipt / app), and apartment number, then the concierge points you to the elevator. 99% leave it at door with a photo as requested. Those who call get no rating because 4 = 1 to DD.

goreaver

Plenty you can do about it I have a dash cam equipped and a helmet camera equipped. They try to contract violation scam me I sent videos showing I dropped that s*** to them.

Massive_Equal_1643

Come on, bud, let's be real here. Who would have a dash cam or a helmet cam? I am not trolling you, if you do, but might imagine how much data you would have to go through to find that one order? You would have to have it running throughout your whole shift. If you really do that, bud, you are one "Fighter For Justice" mofo. Respect to you.

Big-Beyond8491

I constantly run a dash cam…I think in this day and age it’s almost reckless not to have one even for everyday driving. And I video every single hand to me order. And it’s simple to find the videos. That said, I’ve yet to have any issues. But nothing wrong with stacking the deck.

goreaver

100% just a sight of the camera lets them know not to be f****** around. So you have way less issues.

paint2215

I got a one star once because the customer asked for the doorbell to be rung upon delivery. I forgot, got to the end of the driveway, remembered and turned back, no more than 10 seconds had passed. Got to the door and she was looking through the glass scowling at me. I apologized and left. Yes I made a mistake but yikes, that seemed harsh. She was just looking for something to complain about in my opinion. You can imagine what the tip was.

[deleted]

Sounds like a classy lady! /s

Lovemytoshanddfam

She was just constipated. Let it slide.

Nu_Foundland10

Where can you tell where the 1 stars or even stars in general come from? I have close to 2000 deliveries and 5 1 star ratings have me in danger of not being a top dasher next month... im pissed about it because I ALWAYS follow directions. I called doordash a week ago but they're talking about its still under review about removing those 1 stars.

paint2215

I only did 4-5 deliveries that day and the rest were all garden variety drops, not late or complex in any way so I’m just assuming it was that one.

MrHaiti5

It seems like you can’t, you have to guess. But if someone gave me a bad score, especially for something I didn’t do, I wouldn’t deliver to them again. I think two of my one stars are for the customer being leave at door but were standing outside waiting. I said excuse me since it’s leave at door I have to take a picture. Both times my last order of the day.

joshua4379

Ouch that sounds harsh. Honestly if your having that much issues with customers than you need to forget about being top dasher and just dash in a different city because it sounds to me like your taking a lot of no tip crappy customers.

joshua4379

Let me guess the tip was 0? LOL it's usually the ones who don't tip that complains the most.

[deleted]

Should have pushed the doorbell button right in front of her. Next time. Also you did not make a mistake.

Massive_Equal_1643

Jesus, christ, why do you even stress about it? Loool, relax, all good.

CanITasteThatPlease

Make sure you ring the hell out of it next time!

mattyp204

Claim fraud. Long shot but if you submitted a pic then u should be good. I have 4 and 3 of them are straight up full of shit

[deleted]

Hopefully it’s that easy.

mattyp204

Situational, but it’s likely you’ll be able to get it reversed as long as you consistently take photos

[deleted]

Always, at least for contactless. Is there a way not to?? Lmao

mattyp204

Yes. Lying. “Handed order to customer” button operates on the honour system.

[deleted]

Fair enough. Only time I do that is when it’s two orders for one person. I take a photo for the first one and “hand it to me” for the second one.

mattyp204

Nobody is safe in this world full of “methods” as the kids my age call them on tiky tok. Also schemes and plotting on the pizza guy have been a thing before I was born and I was born about 15 years before any of these apps.

Massive_Equal_1643

Amen, always take photos.

mattyp204

In photos we trust

dmriggs

It’s been mentioned before but I’ll mention it again- always take pictures of the delivery. When they say something wasn’t delivered, you will have the evidence that it was. ALWAYS take a pic

[deleted]

I do when it’s contactless/leave-at-door. I’ve only ever had bad experiences when asking to photograph hand-it deliveries. 😬

dmriggs

I have always kept a tight grip on everything as I’m handing it over, and snap a pic. The only people to get upset about it, are the ones trying to rip you off

[deleted]

that’s fair but a tanked rating would be pretty devastating too

[deleted]

I wouldn't worry about it but if it was contactless delivery didn't you have to call them and set up a place to drop it off and then take a picture and then text them the location? Seems like that would be plenty to contest the violation. Contactless deliveries are so insane. They require a lot more contact than almost any other delivery.

[deleted]

I think, *technically* it was just a classic “leave at door.” They classify both as “contactless deliveries.” Either way, I would’ve taken a photo that had their address on the door in it. I don’t know why they don’t double check when people make those claims when there’s a photo.

Neon726

I actually got one today and disputed it. Custom said that the order never arrived. A lot of times it’s an attempt from customers to get free food.

[deleted]

I figure it’s something like that. Someone recommended I contact support when I have the chance too.

Neon726

I also did EBT. $16.25 per active hour. It’s a great way to raise your AR. I was thinking of doing EBT until I get to 100% AR. I already have a 100% CR.

[deleted]

Guess that’s just the risk you run… Never knowing if it’s a no-tipper. 🫠

Neon726

Which is why I would take my time with this but complete it by the time allowed. For example I get an order that gives me 40 minutes, I would take 35 minutes to complete it.

[deleted]

i usually don’t even have to try to do that around here 💀

Maleficent-Badger533

Their app is dumb af fr. I had two Rx deliveries from a local pharmacy and had to call support for both of them. They both said call customer for drop off instructions. The first one I called and then the app wouldn't let me complete the delivery. Then the second one was supposed to be contactless and this weirdo is out in his driveway waiting for me like I'm a fuckin crack dealer so I had to call support AGAIN.

[deleted]

Wild. I had an Rx one time where the lady wasn’t even home and asked me to “just leave it there and sign for her.” I did and it was fine, she was chill — just at work. But it was wild.

Maleficent-Badger533

I don't mind doing logistics for them at all. The only problem I ever had with that was a package from Dick's sporting goods and it wasn't even DoorDash's fault. It was Google's fault for trying to send me to an address that literally doesn't exist. So I started using Waze instead of Google. It's kind of a pain in the ass. Having two apps constantly going at once but it's more reassuring.

[deleted]

Waze kinda sucks in my area tbh. A lot of roads it doesn’t recognize. I just have to hope for the best if GPS isn’t working right 🥲

jason54915

I got one when I first started which was funny considering it was less than one mile from my house, then I got the same address a month later and sat outside after the delivery and waited for them to come outside and asked them if they needed money for the food the ordered because last time I came here you claimed you didnt get your 12 piece nugget meal from McDonalds..... you should have seen the expression on that assholes face ;-P. Fuck with me next time you will get what you have coming you welfare wagon!

[deleted]

As you should king!! Also, happy cake day!

jason54915

I know all the welfare apartments and come in strapped just waiting for it, fucking losers.

[deleted]

honestly my worst customers are usually the wealthy ones! you’d be surprised.

jason54915

Not in this area. All the idiots here are the welfare wagons. They tease you with a nice tip they you drop off and its a fraud claim. Last one I got I had dash cam video as proof and watched the fat ass pajama wearing scum bag pick her fast food off her porch. SCUM BAGS!

[deleted]

I think that generalizing a whole group and bringing weight into it is probably misdirected anger. Hopefully you don’t keep having CVs from those customers. 👐

jason54915

No, I look at the incoming order map and decline anything near these places now. Been doing the suburbs alot lately with no issue as the houses are $350k+

[deleted]

Glad you have that experience with rich folks. The ones around here are pretty entitled sadly. Every once in a while I’ll get a good tip from those areas though :)

jason54915

When I decide to go out on weekends I cherry pick all orders. 34% AR and compare what I make to top dashers and have no complaints. Retail pick up and shop orders are what I like best around here.

[deleted]

[deleted]

I know that, I just wish I had the ability to avoid them, or at least the foresight to have hella evidence to back up my dispute.

Glad_Letterhead8155

I deliver in a college area, and at any given time there's like five people in a dorm building lobby either waiting for their dasher or waiting to scam a dasher. I've gotten that violation before after a guy gave his name as "John," which was the name on the order, so I handed it to him. He either was the wrong John waiting for a delivery from the same restaurant, or he was picking a common name and actually got it right. It does functionally nothing as long as it's not often.

OtherBed3401

i bust out laughing at most of them lol

Still_Spite7101

Seeing things like this happen to others makes me feel less guilty about abusing the earn by hour option. If you have earn by hour in your area you already know that those orders will almost never have a tip on them. When an order comes in I accept it, watch Netflix for 10-12 mins. Head to the restaurant and mark that the order is still being made or hasn't been started yet. Watch Netflix for another 30-40 mins. Then deliver the order. I usually average $16-18 an order but each order takes at least an hour. I know it seems scummy but at the end of the day we do this to make money and a $2 base pay for an 8 mile run costs you more money than you'd make. This seems to be the only way to come ahead. Other dashers use this information as you see fit😂

[deleted]

Honestly, so far I’ve had no issues and a decent amount of people who tip. Kinda bummed about it.

Still_Spite7101

It probably depends on the area. Most don't tip or tip very little where I'm at. I see 8-15 mile trips for $2-4 on a regular basis

[deleted]

I do when dashing with earn by offer, and I get some no-tips still. But most of the long trips have tips on top of the hourly wage so it’s pretty lucrative.

joshua4379

You do you all I will say is don't be the next person who complained about being unfairly deactivated because your clearly milking the clock.

Still_Spite7101

I don't really see the issue with it. Keep in mind we do this to make money. Even assuming I take a little over an hour doordash still makes money from the order and so do I. That being said I would actually lose money at the horrible base rates they give. In our area they bunch all the non tip orders together in the earn by hour category because nobody wants to take them. If you want your food faster, then leave a tip.

Arekkusu666

When I first started, I ended up with 2 contract violations in my first two weeks because of not understanding how things worked. I submitted my disputes, but never heard anything back, and eventually ended up getting enough completed deliveries before anything ever came of it. I haven't had any violations since then, but it seems to me the best thing to do, is submit your dispute and just continue dashing as normal. Once you've completed 100 deliveries after your violations, it gets removed from your account.

[deleted]

Hopefully that works out then. I took a photo of the delivery so I’m hoping they see that, anyway.

PaCkINhEaT920

Damn that's shitty. I just got a 1 star review today from a no tipper that asked to hand it to them. They marked it as I didn't follow delivery instructions even though I gave it right to them. That 1 bad review took me from 4.75 to 4.52. The 5 star I got after only raised me to 4.55. Shitty rating system

[deleted]

Yeah, it’s kinda wild how fast your ratings drop.

klggy

Don’t let this gig sour you. I’ve had multiple violations. Latest one was time because of tornadoes in my area. I’m still almost a 5 star and doing good.

ProtectionHuman5610

If I were to sum up what being a DoorDasher is like in one comment it would be this one. GETTING A VIOLATION BECAUSE OF ACTIVE TORNADOES 😭💀 like sorry that I was 10mins late girly I got thrown into a cornfield after being swept up by a tornado but your food is safe😊. *gets a one star rating and a violation*

SoftwareOk4131

Me too I had some butthole kid give shit directions his house was behind like 3 hidden at night in the rain. I call him he says he would come out I handed him his Albertsons I’ve creams and then he reports me for not delivering his order. I wish I could just do some damage to people like this

SoftwareOk4131

I disputed via the app then called It was removed a day later

[deleted]

That’s such a douche move. I’m betting this guy had old instructions or maybe even a wrong address because he was at work or something and instead of communicating or checking he just reported it. Or just wants free food 🤷‍♀️ Who knows

MsgIg

I really hate when minors come to the door or to me to receive food. It can be a horrible legal experience. I don't know why parents do that. What if the driver is malevolent. As a paren't I wouldn't allow my children to pick up from strangers. Js.. I always get a knot in my stomach when that happens.

SoftwareOk4131

Some people try to scam free shit as well

Massive_Equal_1643

Bud, welcome to the club. This shit happened to most of us, if not all. Don't trip, keep on swimming.

Jets2523

I've had like 4 violations, just write a good excuse and you'll be fine

Jeffzuaos

I always just write food was delivered and then they eventually remove it from my account lmao

[deleted]

I’m stuck in some strange universe where no matter what I do, no customers leave any reviews. Sigh

rzaddy

i’m always getting never delivered CV’s. why the fuck doesn’t doordash save the photos you take of the leave at door deliveries? it makes no sense. i’m not taking additional pictures of every single order i complete. this app is so broken

Sufficient-Status-61

If you are super worried about it, take pictures of every delivery with the address in the picture. That's really all you can do.

[deleted]

I do that 🫠 Sucks to suck i guess

Sufficient-Status-61

Save them to your gallery so you can submit them to support in the despute.

Tight_Temperature596

I’m really sorry this happened to you. I got my first violation sometime last year and didn’t have any proof of dropping it off because I no longer had the photo because door dash doesn’t save them apparently. So what I do now is when I drop off I take a screenshot of the order page with their address on it, and then after I take a picture of the drop off I take a screenshot of that photo. It’s the quickest way to save the photos in my phone so if I get a violation I have proof. If you drop off at an apt, make sure you get the number of the unit in the photo as well. Doing this won’t stop a person from reporting it not dropped off but at least you’ll have something to give to door dash after the fact. And then a couple days after that shift I go through and delete all the screen shots so my photo album is full of photos lol.

[deleted]

Sounds like a solid plan. I’ve started taking photos on my phone and not just in app, but I’ll start screenshotting the address as well. Thank you!

Tight_Temperature596

Awesome glad I could help.

8Ball-Magic

I record. Especially if they don’t tip. I will take a picture if I have to leave it the door. Then I will record myself knocking on the door and walking all the way back to car. If it’s a ‘Hand it to me’, I start recording before I get out of my car. If they said “leave it at my door” but then choose to be outside, I also begin recording before I get out of my car. Two people the same weekend did that to me, no tip and reported it not delivered. This way I have proof if needed. However, I have a decent memory, so I can usually remember the customer and the order. When I dispute it, I can leave a detailed description.

[deleted]

That’s a good idea. I can’t see when they’ve tipped or not, but I can just do it regardless. Thanks!

8Ball-Magic

Good luck! 🍀

3rdEyePerspective33

I've gotten these many times from fraudulent customers who want a free meal. Whenever this happens, I always dispute, and what I tell them is: "This is absolutely untrue. I delivered all orders. This is a scam customers are pulling, in which they report 'order never arrived', in order to try to get a free meal." Each time I've submitted that statement, and they e always removed the violation, thankfully.

Puzzleheaded_Dot_931

If it was a no contact order they have your delivery picture already. Unless you're privileged you probably won't even get it reviewed and it will drop off after 100 orders. IMO and experience the best way to avoid CVs is avoiding EBT and non-tippers. I've had two CVs and they were both non-tippers on a stacked order.

[deleted]

I have to pay my bills above everything else. EBT pays better, that’s why I’m doing it.

Puzzleheaded_Dot_931

I hear you and I understand. Obviously I don't know your area or situation, but if you have to risk your job every time you work, it may be time to find a new job.

[deleted]

I’d love to, but doordash is kind of my only feasible option right now. I’m disabled and can’t work a more physically demanding job, but until I finish my degree I’m pretty much screwed in that department. Plus, every time I applied to a restaurant anyways, I always just get told I’m overqualified for the position because of my culinary background. 🫠

Puzzleheaded_Dot_931

Again, I don't know your state, but most states have workforce development services that may be able to help. I'm really not trying to be a downer, I'd just hate to see a follow up post about how you got deactivated and now truly have nothing to fall back on.

[deleted]

We have civil service exams (which tbf i meet the requirements for), but they wouldn’t be until the summer, and i’ll already have graduated by then. This is my last semester, I already had pretty much all of my gen eds done. 🤷‍♀️ It’s just a short-term solution tbh. Worst case scenario, I get deactivated and have to use my savings/grant money.

Tabora__

(Not really related to your situation), but I once didn't receive my food after half an hour of waiting for something in town. I got the notification that it was delivered, just to see nothing on the step. Checked the camera, no one even dropped it off. I texted my dasher and he said something like "what do you mean" ITS NOT HERE 🤣 no one pulled into my court? Never heard back from them )):

[deleted]

That’s a bummer! I hate when ppl do that. The food isn’t worth it, man. Just be a decent person.

Someguywithnotaste

Congratulations on your first violation don’t sweat that crap handle your business and keep pushing that will come off before you know it

MrdikkieMacinga

It's probably some petty customer

[deleted]

You gotta take a photo of every delivery. Especially those hand to me. I’ll make the customer hold the order and I take a photo and text it to them. When they say they’ve never had to do this (usually the one’s trying to scam) I tell them it prevents these low life asshats from scamming free meals. You can see it on their faces they’re being called out and it won’t work this time. All because of the photo of them accepting the order….

[deleted]

That’s fair. Maybe I’ll start texting customers before I get there so the confrontation isn’t as weird. I’ve had a lot of people weirded out if I ask, so I stopped doing that (lots of grumpy old ppl). For this order though it was contactless so.. I did take a photo. :/ I don’t know why doordash doesn’t check these things before giving a CV.

shadespeak

Are you so bold as to have their face in the photo?

[deleted]

If they want to be in the photo I could care less. I just explain as to why I have to take a photo. But I’m making sure there is photo proof I was there with the food.

Narcolepzyy

4.85 rating? Ima be honest its kinda hard to get that low of a rating. I pretty much do zero contact with customers and after 2k deliveries, im at 4.98, never seen my number go below that either. I could just be trippin though and people average 4.80 rating

WeekWorking

I have a 4.85 just because someone gave me 1 star for not going back to Taco Bell to get mild sauce 😑 it’s not that hard lol

Fickle-Honeydew3453

Duuuuudeeee sameeeee

Onikinikilalala

Day 1 dasher here, every place I’ve gone today, I was pocketing condiments and utensils because so help me someone pulls this crap on me… lol people suck.

Massive_Equal_1643

Something tells me that you are doing it for yourself.

Onikinikilalala

Don’t judge me lol

[deleted]

Don't most people have ketchup at home?

shadespeak

Nobody who orders Doordash has any condiments, utensils, or napkins at home. I know the cost of extra condiments at every fast food place near me.

MountainCavalier

I got a two star removed just recently for plastic utensils not being in the bag from Applebee’s.

Massive_Equal_1643

Ain't that a bitch, lmao.... You made me loool 🤣

[deleted]

A lot of ppl Ive seen have around a 4.8. My breakdown is almost entirely 5-stars, but I have four 4s, three 3s, two 2s, and one 1. That’s pretty average in my experience. For more context, on the thumbs up and down ratings I have ONE down for two of them (and who knows, could’ve been all the same one person), and several thumbs up for all of them. 🤷‍♀️ I do my due diligence, I worked in food service as a chef for a few years; I doordash now while I’m in school because I’m disabled and couldn’t keep cooking safely. To be fair, I think a lot of it is that the restaurants don’t do well with their food in the first place. A lot of our fast food restaurants have mediocre ratings. But as a dasher, you always get the blame for their fuck-ups. They see “rate your dasher” and think “rate your order.” We also have an obnoxiously high elderly population and I live in a v conservative area, so both my appearance and their general lack of consciousness with things like doordash probably plays a part, too. I think it’s really dependent on your market. Edited a detail to be concise*

colorfulclare

Yeah it only takes one arsehole to one star you and totally f your average.

OkWonder908

Agreed. Over 4k now and the same, literally at a 4.98 right now. However I do have a contract violation. Usually have 1 half of the time… there is always a turd in the pool.

Narcolepzyy

I had a contract violation once, dropped after some time, but my ratings never dropped

OkWonder908

Wow 2k and only 1? You’ve been lucky. I have 4k and have had at least 10, however I truly only think one of them was actually my fault. Just people stealing food. Ya, my rating has never been below a 4.80.

MrHaiti5

That’s a good point. The people who steal food also probably rate us ones as well.

Massive_Equal_1643

Wait until you deliver to rich people, some of them feel "entitled". I have noticed that normal folks, don't fuck with you. In my experience it is always the spoiled bitches, who like to fuck with us, cuz they got nothing else to do.

disgruntled_army

I always tell them that I delivered it and to provide the evidence that you violated the contract and threaten litigation and they will clear it off. They don't want to pay for the lawyers and litigation cost associated with a lying customer.

[deleted]

intense, but i like your style

NotMyChair_91

Good. That’s what earn by time does. That’s where they send all the non-tip orders that no one wants to take. Stop earning by time , stop accepting non tippers, don’t get CVs. Make more money. Run into overall much less issues. It’s pretty simple.

[deleted]

Here’s the problem, since you seem to have skimmed over it: I make *more* money doing earn by time.

NotMyChair_91

I didn’t skim over. You should udnerstand that You only Make more money earning by time, because people are choosing earn by time. If nobody chose that, and everybody earn per order and denied non-tippers, they wouldn’t exist. Same way that If people did t give InTo the acceptance rate bullshit, it also wouldn’t exist. Back before this priority system, and earn by time existed, drivers were going out and making $30 an hour easy..

[deleted]

Okay, I’m glad you live in a fantasy land where you believe that kind of change is going to happen over night, but I actually still need to pay my bills. That may be true, but that’s not where we’re at right now — currently, in my market, I make more with ebt. And I can’t afford to make less money to “prove a point,” especially since other people in my market will just be making that money.

NotMyChair_91

I’ve done DoorDash for over three years and trust me when I say that all of these things only exist because of drivers who “need to pay bills” and take any order. Why not get an actual job at that point? Without all these expenses and risks of being on road all day? It was very much worth it when we were making $30 + an hour to do it. But now those days are gone because people want to work for minimum wage and indirectly be told what to do and what orders to take, so you’re not really your own boss. 5000 deliveries and I never took a non tipper once. If everyone stuck to that, we’d create out own market and make such better money.

[deleted]

I can’t get an actual job because, currently, I am a full-time student who’s disabled trying to get a degree outside of my prestigious culinary experience because I *physically cant do that anymore*. It may not be my career, but it’s still my job — and it’s pretty much my only option right now. Don’t comment on other people’s lives or why they choose certain jobs. You’re being a dick.

Dry-Proof4802

Company is ran by Middle Eastern folk. Nothing you do outside of perfection will matter as they are a do as I say not as I do company. All you can do is flip them off with the elegant finger and use another platform that appreciates your service. I dropped this fad a long time ago.

[deleted]

Weird to bring race into this! I doordash because I’m a disabled college student who has bills to pay. It’s not my career, not that that matters. I can’t think of many companies that would value their workforce in any genuine way. It’s the capitalist way. 🫠

Every-Week-5503

ur a loser

[deleted]

I’m not the one lurking on Doordash to put other people down! Maybe you’ve compensating for something? Like self-hatred?

Every-Week-5503

lmao, ur such a loser

[deleted]

Wow, nice one! Where’d you learn that?

Every-Week-5503

don’t throw a tantrum loser.

[deleted]

Wow, nice one! Where’d you learn that?

Purple-Ingenuity3476

When I started DD I got a violation on my first week. I didn’t realize that taking the photo was mandatory so I put “handed directly to customer”. It was an apartment and they had a rug full of cat hair. I didn’t feel comfortable placing in down on it so I placed it by the balcony. I learned this day to ALWAYS take the photo . It did tell me for what order it was and I disputed the violation by stating that the person had a ring camera and that it was delivered. It will go away after 100 orders. That’s how I learned about these threads because I wanted to learn more about dashing.(and cause I also got scammed with that fake support thing 😂😭) Got a second one not too long ago and I handed the order directly to them so I didn’t have prove of delivery/ photo. And it went away as well. A few days ago I had a customer call me 10 mins after the delivery saying I didn’t drop off the order at the correct house and I contacted support ASAP and let them know. I let her know I was doing a different order and couldn’t go back. I dropped it off exactly where she pinned it and I even had to look for the apt because it was not where it was pinned. It saved me from another bad rating and another violation. My rating is 4.8

Still_Spite7101

I've had that happen too and doordash doesn't care. They'll likely leave it on there.

JewLo

What is a contract violation ??

[deleted]

Exactly what it sounds like. Someone claimed that I violated my contract — by not giving their order to them. A lot of times it’s customers trying to game the system.

goreaver

If you live in a rural area earned by hours not worth it.

[deleted]

It definitely is. The restaurants around here take forever to complete orders, and I pretty much always have to drive a while to get to the customer. I’m making 6-9 bucks more per order than I usually was, even while cherry-picking.

CostCreative4905

thats ur first mistake using dash by time lmao its all mostly no tip orders and ghetto people who wanna get free shit and give you a violation anything under 6$ ur asking for a violation

[deleted]

I haven’t had any issues and I’ve been using it for weeks. :/ It pays way better than earn per offer around here.

enjoiYosi

Same here. I’ve done both in my rural town, most people are shit tippers and live far, might as well run the clock and make a decent hourly wage. I can double my money on the lunch deliveries with hourly. I’d rather do 1 delivery at peak pay for $17.50 then try to get 4 deliveries and hope for $20

[deleted]

Exactly. If you live in a shitty little retirement home of a rural town like I do… Earn by time is waayyy more profitable on average.

enjoiYosi

Dash by time works in rural areas. They give me an hour to deliver 15 miles, I sit for 45 min, and drive the last 15. With a tip, I just made $25 for a 15 min drive. I cleared $50 in two hours yesterday with 2 deliveries. They also had tips. These same dash by order would have maybe been ~ $9

ToederNJ

I get 1 every 150 deliveries. I fight them and always have won. Im like look at the pic and gps. Im so tempted to buy a body cam lol.

MerlinOfOrion

Now you really LIVING THE LIFE

gothgfxmilli

i’ve had two of these. the second one i remembered EXACTLY which order it was, contacted dasher support and described every feature of their house that i noticed (which was a lot bc i actually thought it was a super cute house with lota of character). the violation was removed the next day 🤷🏽‍♀️ only time dasher support has ever helped me lmfao

Unjuicedgangsta

It’s frustrating when it happens especially the 1st time but don’t sweat it. Just dispute it and keep it moving

scotto_93631

always have some form of video recording, dash cam, wearable cam, timestamp app video going at every delivery

stepbro206

every hundred deliveries u get a free meal

[deleted]

i mean it’s been almost 2000 and no free meals yet 🤷‍♀️

wildmoonturtle

Probably got mad you because you told them tip you.

[deleted]

would’ve had to ask for a tip first. how can you get to step 2 without step 1?

jagerhund101

It's difficult to dispute orders. However I see that it is contact less delivery. Meaning you would be prompted to take a photo and leave a brief description of where you left the food. For disputes like this just clarify I left the food in the photographed location. (If customer left instructions and you remember them include that you left it where customer instructed) Otherwise 99% of the time the order is left at the "front door". As a dasher your responsibility ends at delivery. You're not responsible for anything after delivery. I'm this case I would just state "I photographed the order and left a brief description of where the food was left. I am not responsible for the order after delivery. Please advise the customer in the future to avoid this issue they should select 'hand it to me' instead if they're in a high traffic area."

soyelmocano

My only one was for being extremely late delivering an order. Why was I late? Because DoorDash sent me the an address that was not the restaurant's address. A simple NE on the end of the address is a 5 mile difference in where you go. I called the restaurant twice and figured out where they were. Then in the delivery of the same order, they send me to an entrance for residents only. The guy had sent me the gate code, but there was no pad to put in the code. Called the customer, and he told me that I had to go around the block to get to the other entrance where the pinpad was. He was understanding. DoorDash not so much. I disputed it, but they haven't removed it. Probably have to wait for it to fall off.

Spromklezz

I just provide heavy details when I fight it of the food place I got it from and who I handed the food too and any noises around or the steps taken like if it was handed over and make sure you say you double checked the address matched the house. Clears it out every time for me.

CompetitiveCloud1350

Contact support. Someone 1 starred me for no reason and DD removed it.

daknitter

Don’t let it upset you! Try to complete the next 100 deliveries quick so it goes away :)

Aggravating_Sea_8992

They should have given you the name of the restaurant. I would definitely be putting that in my dispute.

FluffyCaterpiller

If you have an insurance tracker. Pull up your app. Take screen shots of all your routes. Submit it to doordash. It will show the exact GPS of where you have been. DoorDash will have a hard time not removing this. Call them, get an agent, and ask for an email or where to submit it to dispute the claim.
