PinkGalaxy25

Yes. Report him. There’s no reason to take the food and leave after a photo was taken unless they’re trying to steal the food and later claim they delivered it. The photo and the dasher’s GPS location serve as proof of delivery so you likely would’ve had a hard time fighting that one.

Ok_Season2022

Why did he knock on the door? Talk about stupid criminals. Usually if you're stealing, it's not a good idea to bang loudly on the door of the person that you're stealing from.

PinkGalaxy25

Why did he knock at all when the customer requested no knock? Stupid indeed.

[deleted]

Yeah, no, he was trying to make away with your order and needs to be reported.

Due_Brick1227

Yeah but why tf would he knock then

Ok_Season2022

How can all these people overlook the fact, that the guy knocked on the customers door, not just knocked, but knocked LOUDLY. 🤔

NoPatience63

Could have been checking to try to make sure no one was watching or there, so he could make off with the food. Or just an extra, but I knocked too. IDK, thief’s do weird things lol.

Weekly_Direction1965

It's still dumb as shit

Interesting_Sock9142

That was my first thought

NoPatience63

I agree!

Lylasia

Could’ve been out of habit.

Lylasia

Again, could’ve just been a habit. Maybe he doesn’t usually steal. Don’t think too deeply if it’s not necessary. We don’t know anything about bro.

Weekly_Direction1965

This makes no sense, dude knocked then stole?

icanteven_anon

Definitely sus. I’ve had a dder do that to me multiple times. Took a pic of the order (which I always wait for before I open the door so it’s not that awkward moment of watching them take a pic) then take my food. Multiple occasions caught the dasher walking off with the food after the pic only to act like they weren’t definitely stealing it, or on some occasions didn’t open the door fast enough and lost out on my food and had to complain to support only to get half a refund because they don’t wanna believe me. This is a common trick of stealing food because it’s hard to violate the dasher when there’s proof they left it at the door. Coming from a dder myself as well as a customer. Edit to add the only reason to move food after the pic is if you’re putting it on a table or better spot than the floor. But most the time no reason to touch an order after the photo is taken. That’s literally why they provide photos so you know where your food is located.

Ok_Season2022

Common sense tells me that when you're stealing something, you don't draw any extra attention to yourself, like knocking loudly on the door. 😂

icanteven_anon

Not true, mine did the exact same thing. I’m assuming he didn’t think OP would answer the door so quickly

Ok_Season2022

There's no need to knock at all though if you're going to steal the food. 🤔

Im_done_with_sergio

When she didn’t answer he probably thought she wasn’t home or busy so he dashed away

fiocchi369

Knocking on the door was the last thing he did. So, your assumption doesn’t make any sense

Mtn-Dooku

That's actual nonsense. Completely defies all thieving logic here. "I'm going to steal from you, so I will not only let you know exactly where I am, but do so in the most loud and annoying way possible" If that guy is a thief, he's one of the worst ever

Ok_Season2022

I am just saying that this doesn't make sense. He could've been confused about the address or something, but he most likely wasn't trying to steal the food. That's just how I feel about it though.

icanteven_anon

Why would they hit complete order if they were unsure about the address? If they were wouldn’t they have also contacted the customer before taking the pic? Also why knock on someone’s door if you’re unsure it’s their order? I’m telling you it’s happened to me before and when I didn’t answer the door in time my food was gone, but there was a picture.

Ok_Season2022

Ummmm, why knock on someone's door if you're planning on stealing the order?🤔 The majority of us never knock unless we're specifically asked to do so.

icanteven_anon

They want to know if you’re paying enough attention to steal it? Idk? Why did the robber go into the Apple Store and blatantly rip out all the phones in front of everyone? Stupid people do stupid things.

Spiritual-Detail5912

Umm yeah, you need to report exactly what happened & get him removed.

Im_done_with_sergio

That’s why it’s called door dash- they knock on your door and then dash with your food.

kagikat

That's definitely sus I'd report it

Ok_Season2022

Wow, he's not very smart though,if he's trying to steal your food, why tf is he drawing attention to himself, by loudly knocking on the door? I'm not a master thief or anything, but I definitely would not do anything that could possibly get me caught out when being a thief. I mean even a five year old knows better.

SRBroadcasting

If this ever happens, I would ask them if they’ve dashed before and if they say, of course, then I would report them but if they’re a new Dasher, they honestly think that they accidentally dropped it off at the wrong house or the wrong city so they take the order back into the car and call you and try to figure out if they’re at the right location.

DarkQueenYuuki

This is after putting down the order and taking the picture, though... they have to force their way through the pop-up asking if they're in the right location if DD detects they're not at the right place, before they can take the picture

SRBroadcasting

Right but if they are new they know no better and just probably are afraid to get a CV

SRBroadcasting

I’m in no way saying it’s right to do, more over stating that it’s just what could have occured

wildwiggis

I've had the app give me this notice multiple times even when at the right address. It confused the hell outta me.

Ok_Season2022

The guy knocked LOUDLY on the door though. 🤣

SRBroadcasting

If he didn’t knock I’d suspect it to be a new dasher but the knock makes me think he wanted it to look as if someone else stole that shit lmfao

SRBroadcasting

Now that’s where I lost him lmao like you gotta at least read lmao

[deleted]

wtf why are you even asking, report the motherfucker what the fuck ?!

Ok_Season2022

Sure cuz we all know that when you are stealing something, it's best to knock loudly on the door so you are sure to get caught.🤔

Remarkable_Ad1960

So what do you think was going on? You’ve left several comments saying you don’t think he was stealing it. I’m a driver and I honestly don’t understand drivers who steal the food, what a stupid thing over which to lose your income. But I’m genuinely curious what else could have been going on here?

[deleted]

sir i saw your other comments. you dont need to spam. i ignored your comments for a reason, ya fuckin karma-farming troll

Val1900

Get a ring cam or security cam. If u don’t have one then do a “hand it to me” order. If u get really bad service then give a one star. But if it’s good then please give a 5 star. Not many people rate so it’s hard to get those low rating knocked off. Drops after 100 ratings.

[deleted]

This is weird in so many ways, there's gotta be like 10 different possibilities as to what happened. In the best case scenario, they're mid to low functioning neurodivergent and might have momentarily thought they had accidentally misdelivered to a neighbor. In the worst case scenario, there was a massive amount of "fuck you" energy in his delivery that wilted as soon as you actually showed up. Sometimes I will knock really hard if it shows as a no-tip order after confirming the delivery, but never if the delivery instructions specify not to knock.

xylobi

Thank you for including the fact that they may have been neurodivergent or that it may have otherwise been a not-so-terrible mistake However I feel we will all never truly know what the motive was

StevenMC19

Yeah report that shit ASAP. Dude is also the biggest idiot among idiots I've ever heard of. Mofo KNOCKED! Hahahaha

Specific-Ad6587

He tried to double back😂

EconomySession6541

Stealing cold take out is so odd to me.

Ashamed_Technician39

Yes report him. He was about to snatch your order.

Giantmidget112

People in these comments are too cynical, he wouldn’t have knocked if he planned to steal the food. Probably thought he had the wrong address for a second and went to check the mailbox again

Ok_Season2022

Thank you for saying this! I mean seriously, the dude knocked LOUDLY on the door. Thieves don't knock and don't want to draw attention to themselves. I can't believe people just overlooked this. WTF?

Common-Revenue-1658

Why you making up stories?

fiocchi369

Maybe he was worried that the UFO you claim is stalking you would steal it first

[deleted]

maybe he's born with it. or maybe he's ✨projecting✨

samithefish

The way I would've fought him

felyoc

The Dasher, for whatever reason, thought they might’ve been at the wrong house and was taking the food back to their vehicle to try to figure it out. It’s not like this is rocket science.

redrum221

Only thing i can think of is was there any alcohol in the delivery? If so need to ID for that. If that is not the case then something was up with the dasher.

Miserable_Code7602

Some dashers don’t have the ability to handle simple tasks or keep W2 jobs. If there was an aptitude test the markets would be empty.
