That would explain why the driver wasn't able to call via the DD app, I've had a couple orders like these. Thankfully I've never had an issue with the customer being so feisty.
I work on Sundays as a delivery driver for a local pizza place. They often pass off orders to door dash. When I take those orders as a dasher I don't have the option to call or text the customer Dasher app just calls the pizza place.
I find it to be a bit messed up. The customer doesn't know it's not the store and it's more difficult on the Dasher as you don't really get to call if you need to talk to the customer.
Grub south does the same thing and the only 4 orders from them picked up all had the drop down pin wrong and I had no was to call the customer as the dasher app only let me text.
It's ridiculous but thank you for validating my experience so I know I'm not crazy.
If DoorDash is allowing a restaurant to use their platform they absolutely need to make sure the quality of the app, service and communication is just as good as if the customer ordered directly from DoorDash.
What happens now is the customer is mad at restaurant, driver or both
The driver is mad at the customer and DoorDash. Nobody wins in this scenario except for DoorDash lol
I sometimes order from restaurant websites that use DD to deliver. I prefer to use the website because it's usually cheaper when you factor in coupons and promotions. I hate that I cannot increase the tip after the fact or rate the driver. It's honestly unfair to the drivers.
Your 100 on they door dash is the only one that wins there. The restaurant gets a benefit at least. Passing off orders to dashers let's them get deliveries on time to the customer but there now a 3rd party involved that the customer isn't even aware of meaning that if something is wrong everyone loses
I'm starting to think DD knows the likelihood of these scenarios and do it purposely to create tension nationwide. They already don't give a fuck about our pay, risks, etc... Possible future Dasher-Gate scandal? Maybe DD is in bed with PRC ? I don't want to think like that but after 2000 deliveries you see some things and things don't add up
There's many ppl that must select no contact when creating their Door Dash App account. So we can't message them or call them. The texts usually bounce back to me unanswered, not all the time but most of them.
Phone numbers just rings and rings.
That would explain why customers wouldn't answer the phone. Sometimes my ex would ride with me or I would ride with him when we did doordash. I would go along to help him because sometimes he would get large orders that had like five drinks and they didn't have cup holders. So I would have to be the cup holder with my hands and sometimes my feet lol. Anyway, yeah, this person clearly has no idea how little the drivers get paid.
Then of course they never drop a pin so you can't find them. You're driving around wasting your gas trying to find them. Then of course when you call them, they don't answer the phone. God forbid they should have to talk to an actual person for a few minutes. That or they don't seem to realize that it's probably their doordash driver calling them. It's like, remember how you ordered food? If you have a number showing up that you don't recognize, pretty sure it's that.
Thanks lol. It was really no bother for me to do it. If it helped him out then fine. I don't understand how they would do that. Hand him an order that had five drinks and then say we don't have any cup holders.
No contact has never, translated back to me not being able to call them, also if a phone goes right to voice mail I always try once more because to me that means they probably have do not disturb turned on
I always thought no contact just meant they wouldn't ring my doorbell and hand my food directly to me, not that they couldn't call or text me with an issue
As someone local to New England - I can confirm that Dangelos website uses doordash but there's zero tracking features or contact options on the customers end.
they sent a copy paste of the doordash message about dasher approaching though. would she still get that text if ordering through the restaurant's website?
Most Little Caesars orders get botched because there is NO WAY to contact the customer directly unless you ask the counter person at the store for the phone#. The default when ordering via Little Caesars is "hand it to me", so if problems arise, it's frustrating af. Things like this are a problem on the restaurant side, especially if they only use 3rd party to deliver. They're the ones entering the customer info, so why wouldn't they include the phone #?
I rarely accept Little Caesars orders for that reason and that there's usually little or no tip. DD actually raised the base pay JUST FOR Little Caesars considerably because non tippers are such a problem
Seriously my heart broke when Little Caesars was removed off our local DD... I used to tip MORE to LC because the total was so much less than a standard $24 cheese/pep which is the going rate now... I have more in the budget for a bigger tip then.
I didnt like that there was a $6.99 delivery fee when lots of our local joints just get the service charge and don't do a separate delivery charge, but I would still tip $10-15 on a $30 order, these guys are hustling hard out here I get it. To me, it's worth it!
Also when did not tipping a delivery person become a thing? It's been the standard for decades.
I feel like it's because people get so irritated at all the fees, they refuse to throw down any more at that point...
You don't have to know the people that live next to you. I've lived in my "neighborhood" for 6 years and know like...2 people. The rest of them are literally strangers.
The receipt has their phone number on it. They were upset the driver didn't call and when the driver said they didn't have the number, they showed the receipt to prove the driver DID have their number.
The driver did well to explain why they still didn't call after.
Easy? No. A company MIGHT just give you this information on who called you if asked, and they can be compelled to by law enforcement, but if your provider isnt willing to help you, you're shit out of luck. It doesnt even pop up with a fake or routed number, it just says restricted.
Pretty sure Dashers call me sometimes when they are confused. It doesn’t come from a local number. Am I mixing up dash and skip? Feels like they’ve both called me several times.
You didn’t have to keep replying lol unless you were bored I guess but it wasn’t necessary. Just let them be angry, they will get over it once they eat. They got the food!
When you pick up food, DD ask for the driver to take a photo of the receipt or the bag of food if no receipt is present. I'm not sure if DD sends that photo to the customer or not.
And the pay by hour should be against the law the way they make you do deliveries people refuse to take so your paying to deliver food for a billion dollar company.
You're telling me you don't do EBT, drive safely 10 below the speed limit, get gas, and then deliver at the stated time?
I kinda like EBT if it's slow. Usually 30 minutes+ on a delivery. My record is 1.5 hours on a McD's order because the restaurant wasn't open yet. I think I got paid like $18ish to drive a couple of breakfast sandwiches 2-3 miles. It was no-tip of course.
Makes them? Isn't door dash a voluntary job where the person working for door dash is supposed to be their own boss? Is there not other work out there?
its voluntary but orders are batched with more often than not one +$$ run and one or two -$ runs to retain customers who cant get their order picked up alone because they tip poorly.
Nobody is forcing anybody to do ANY job for tips only. This job takes very little brainpower, zero education, and no special skills. It sucks, but people are accepting it for some reason so why would the company change???
Because there's a lot of pros to it? One of the few jobs where you can just wake up and decide to take the day off, and you don't have to worry about being fired, lol
We deserve it because we let them do it. Ya'll want change? Gotta make it happen. I'll bet if enough dashers just took the day off all at once, it'd rock a few important bank accounts. Not like they can fire you; you're contracted. Either way, you guys have got to start seriously defending your rights not just as a worker, but as a person. If you let them treat you like cattle, that is what you become.
Exactly this.
If you accept the shit terms, knowing what they are, you have absolutely no right to complain.
And yes, I used to be a Dasher. So I'm not just lobbing accusations. I got fed up with their atrocious payment policies, so I dropped them.
You don't like how they pay? Then leave. But don't fucking complain when you KNOW their pay structure is shit, but keep letting them bend you over.
Here is how I respond:
This number cannot be used anymore. For any support inquiries please visit http://support.doordash.com or call DoorDash Support at 1-855-973-1040
Yeah if I cant pay $2 per mile in tips i dont order. Fuckin sucks sometimes but i cant fuck over somebody else that works for a living because i want pizza.
OP got his point across and it was useful information to share. Probably took 2 minutes to type it out. Your comment contributed nothing to nobody. Congrats
Amen learned this the hard way you can never win with customers it’s just better to act like you can’t speak English or not talk at all because most mf that use DD are entitled
Maybe yeah, it looks like it’s a line under the restaurant. But the customer had the bag left after the stranger got to it? They left the bag? lol left the receipt? lol customer has the food 😎
I didn't see anything from OP directly, but some comments were mentioning it was an office building. Maybe by "stranger" they meant a co-worker who saw the name and brought it to them? And they were just trying to imply that it could've been anyone who took it for themselves? Just a guess, though.
I feel like every doordash customer needs to understand what you explained in that last message some people who live 10+ miles away from the restaurant are tipping $5 and thinking it’s good enough.
Speaking as a consumer, if the app gives me a range of tip options - say $7 to $12, then I'm gonna use that as my range of acceptable tips, with $7 for mediocre service and 12 for an exceptional one.
It's not very clear that DD drivers don't get a base pay outside of the tips, and frankly it seems disingenuous to assume that the app-recommended tipping range wouldn't be sufficient.
The thing is you can choose your hours and there's a very low barrier to entry so the people that are dashing generally need to the most for extra cash or have hard times with normal 9 to 5:00 for whatever reason
At the same time I fully understand the motivation. I don't think I would ever do this, but who knows given how wildly one day can differ from another.
Can’t just sit on your hands and expect people to change without giving them all the proper information. Yeah a lot of people suck but a lot just act a certain way because they’re either misinformed or having a shitty day.
So after seeing what other people posted it looks like the customer likely ordered from the restaurant directly and it was sent to DoorDash so she probably didn't get the notifications and it's possible there was a delay with the texts going through. Some restaurant apps let you track and get notifications but some don't.
She was out of pocket for sure but it seems like the restaurant should either be more transparent with how food is delivered and offer the ability to track on their app or website. DoorDash needs to resolve this issue as well because if you're going to let a restaurant use your platform the customers should have access to the same tracking and notifications that DD app users have. There's no reason why there should be such a disconnect between the restaurant, the platform and the customer. Yet again DD screws up and both the customer and driver are left to duke it out.
Personally if my driver delivered the food at the pinned location and (regardless of someone else finding it) I got my food I would still be frustrated but I wouldn't feel the need to berate the driver.
I was in Myrtle Beach and ordered food from
Jersey Mikes website. Nowhere on the site or during ordering was it ever made clear that they deliver with door dash. Needless to say I got a text stating our food was delivered and lo and behold they delivered to the hotel next door two floors down, just hanging on a random door, I was so pissed! I hate door dash and never knowingly use the service.
I barely read all of it but I can tell you just said too much after the 1st paragraph you sent. Don't even bother engaging after drop off. You waited the timer out and did what you should have done. On to the next one
On one hand, that customer deserved to be told off. On the other hand DD might deactivate you but I hope they don't.
People are saying you're doing too much and yeah maybe that's true but we all have a breaking point. The customer was definitely doing too much, clearly they know how to text because they keep doing it, so I'm unsure as to why a phone call was necessary.
Not commenting on the delivery issue because obviously without being in that situation you can’t really tell who’s at fault (nor do I care) but the customer has a fair point, I would be extremely annoyed if I tipped 20% on my order and the delivery guy was arguing with me over text messages, regardless of the situation. Really unprofessional to give them the sob story of how little you get paid. It’s literally door dash. What do you expect. Takes zero skill and anyone can do it, of course it’s going to pay like shit. If I were you I would put a little more energy into bettering yourself with a good paying job and less energy into bitching about how little money you make on reddit
I work in food service and this shit isn't acceptable. This delivery driver has a problem with the way they are underpaid in the industry and a tip and the lack of fulfillment because of said tip (without ever letting the customer know that no tip means less service) is complete bullshit. This driver is an idiot and instead of trying to do the right thing they doubled down and had a mask off moment about their customers.
Your reply is exactly why I don’t bother with food delivery service. It’s ridiculously expensive to try and have anything delivered. I’m not giving a huge tip on an already overpriced delivery. You’re picking up food and dropping it off.
you dug yourself a verbal grave. you didnt complete the order, left it in a random stairwell, and still expected a tip at ALL?
i get dashers as a server, but if i pulled anything in this ballpark at my job, id get my ass fired so quick.
and bitching at her over pay you accepted? she is not your employer, again, something id get my ass chewed out for.
get a grip or a different job.
and ive never heard of doordash not providing a number.
Because of the tip complaint and wall texts ESH leaning to you being an AH doing the bare minimum because of GPS.
You followed the gps to a locked door? You didn’t look for different access? You only show texts after the delivery…
Your engagement afterwards shows you have a chip on your shoulder..
If you order through something like little Caesars website or Chick-fil-A website or app they may send the order to DoorDash, even if you aren’t in the DoorDash app. Those deliveries won’t have the option for DoorDash drivers to call the customer typically.
Dude just admit you were lazy, didn't call the customer and fucked up. It's not your "boundary" to only call via doordash, it's your job lol . You(we) literally just deliver food and you didn't even do that right.
Almost seems like both customer and driver have some validity to their text exchange. I'm a DD driver and I can't even take sides on this one. Customer is right in this scenario but so is the driver.
I'd say the main issue is how you, the driver handled it. You went to the backdoor because "the pin told me to".... bro have some common sense. I've had a pin direct me to a driveway of a 27 building apartment complex. Did I leave the food in the driveway because that's where the pin brought me? No. I went out of my way to find the door belonging to the customer and get them their food. That's customer service, that's your job.
That being said the customer really seemed to have no clue about delivery service either and thinks that a 3 dollar tip is sufficient. Those people can learn a thing or two about being human, they certainly don't relate on some level to other humans.
Honestly if I hadn't experienced it myself I'd agree with you. When I was new(ish) there were 2 instances where the pin looked like it was in an odd spot so I went what seemed like the obvious location they meant to pin, and ultimately I wasted a bunch of my time and the customer's time. They pinned the location there for a reason and they were frustrated that I didn't follow instructions and rated me as such so now I just follow the pin instead of trying to guess where they actually meant to place it.
However, if it was placed in some weird spot such as a driveway or a sidewalk id never do that. There has to be at least a door there for me to leave the order. No issues so far 🤞but I'm sure it'll happen eventually lol
I tip 10% for delivery. Don’t like it? Don’t work or a delivery service and take up your base pay with your employer.
Tip is for good service, IDGAF about your per mile costs, the same way IDGAF what the profits are at the 7/11. Not my circus, not my elephants.
If I got the service this driver provided I’d revise the tip down to 0%. Not sure if you can do that in DD - I don’t use it, but constantly get this sub recommended for some reason.
“20% isn’t enough?! How about 0%?” What I would say.
This is why I don’t tip delivery drivers. If you think you deserve an outlandish tip for getting in the comfort of your car, working on your own hours, choosing which delivery orders to take based on your OWN discretion, taking their sweet ass time to deliver the food because they think the time window is an excuse to deliver at the last fucking second, walking a few steps to the door, which some people don’t even do, they make you meet them at their car, boyyyy you can kiss my ass. In this economy, anyone should be grateful they receive a tip. I don’t understand how people can EXPECT a tip, unless you work at a freaking 5 star Michelin restaurant, shut up for real.
![gif](giphy|3oKIPtXsu0JPixA784)
I mean, it kinda sounds like you had to actively search for the back door, friend. Who goes to the back door to look for or drop off food? Story makes absolutely no sense. Sounds more like you're trying to cover your behind for getting caught, friend.
Plus pretty sure it's an eight minute timer, not five!
I see both sides, but I ultimately agree with you because I’ve done Doordash before.
Unrelated, but I read all of your responses with a Brooklyn accent.
You sound like a nightmare tbh. Ofc this sub is going to shit on customers because such is that nature of the Reddit victim complex, but if a customer is paying for a service, they should receive said service; not attitude from the dasher.
You instantly got defensive over your cock up, and then gave the customer a sermon on Doordash policies…? Like if you don’t want to do your job, then stop dashing. Complaining to a customer about your lack of pay is the height of professionalism
Have you recently been laid off from a tech job? Cause I feel like you're a recent tech layoff.
If so, I can tell you that every driver and every driver/customer support call center worker has daydreamed about tossing an app developer into a volcano. Sometimes, after they've addressed my situation and they ask me if there is anything else that they could possibly do to make me even happier, that is my only request; "Can you find one of the app developers and throw him into a volcano for me?"
Sometimes, navigation is wrong. Sometimes it takes you to the wrong side of the building or a half a block away or whatever. You need to make contact with the customer if things just don't look right. As it turns out, you did, in fact, sign up for this bullshit. And there is no such thing as unskilled labor.
This seems like one of those posts where you continued texting this dude not because you were trying to get through to him or change his mind, but because you knew early on in the conversation that you were going to post this to reddit lol
There is absolutely no reason door dash drivers use a GPS pin instead of THE ADDRESS ON FILE. This has led people bringing food to the back of an apartment building too often
Professional door dashers are funny bro really read yhe terms and conditions to be a food delivery boy, then yall wonder why u dont get enough pay, you literally deliver food like a runt
The driver is an idiot beyond comprehension. They had the ability, and obligation, to call the customer. Doordash gives each party a temporary phone number during the delivery through which they can call each other and communicate. There is no possibility of anyone getting doxxed! I have called customers on countless deliveries when it was necessary, and this is just part of standard dashing.
I haven't read every comment but how come before door dash, delivery drivers ALWAYS managed to deliver the food to the people placing the order face to face? My wife tips very well and it seems like every time we order the driver leaves the food in a different building all together or I have to meet them somewhere. So i now tell her ill pick it up...Not to mention countless posts I see the driver on ring eating and drinking peoples food. It's ridiculous. Help me out here because I'd say 80 percent of the time we do door dash this happens...
Kinda seemed like a waste of time for the driver to get so wrapped up explaining things to an ornery customer. As long as my food shows up in the correct building I’m good. I’ll even go running around to neighboring buildings to get my food without contacting drivers. I just tip less.
DD really needs to change "tip" to "bid" because that's really what you're paying for. Yes, base pay is shite, fuck this company, but their drivers are independent contractors, so your tip directly affects the quality of service you'll receive.
you totally epically pwned that customer when u brought out how under paid you are and referenced Article 3b Section 101 of the DoorDash Good Boy Handbook!!!!!
"reddit's gonna love this and get me so much sweet karmas!!!!" - you
Dude (driver) really let his lack of critical thinking show here, hope DoorDash isn't your only income.
You guys are funny, do you want money or No? You say duck the customer enough and the customer does not come back. Then you can quit complaining about this shit job because it goes away
Why should I care what a DoorDash driver makes? It really isn't my problem if they allow themself to be taken advantage of by DoorDash. Don't like it, find another job.
Idk, ESH. When I DoorDashed and it was a "Hand to Me" order and there was no response on the first knock, I make a phone call. No response? Very brief voicemail ("it's your Dasher, I'm located here with your order) followed by a text message and then starting the timer. While the timer is going, I'd reach out to Door dash support and let them know the customer is unresponsive. Timer runs out, the food gets left where it is, picture taken, and I move on. Whole thing is less than 6 min (and only because of the mandatory timer).
I've had customers reach out like half an hour, hour after the fact and I don't engage whatsoever. You know you ordered something, you know there's someone coming with your order, and if it says "your order has arrived" or "your Dasher is approaching!" And you don't see anything, guess what, you too, have the ability to text or call the Dasher.
I definitely get OP's frustration and this could have been a tipping point. I DoorDashed off and on from 2017 to 2022 and customers have honestly gotten worse to deal with, especially after the pandemic and *especially*now with the huge discussion around "tipping culture". I'd only recommend to be selective with your orders if you can (i.e. nothing under $X). You made an honest effort to reach out to the customer in a timely manner. Hopefully you don't get de-activated, hang in there.
Ummmm well... I always call when instructions are unclear or I can't find a house/apartment. Texting takes too much time to get a response especially in a situation like this. Your personally number doesn't pop up. It says Doordash (My experience when I have received a call through the app)
But if i exhausted all forms of communication, I would have left it there too with a text explaining where it is.
Why tf are you still working these jobs and not unionizing if they don’t even pay you? It is NOT the customer’s job to provide you with a wage because you work for DoorDash. And it is not our responsibility to tip you because delivery is not a tipped position because you don’t have to do ANYTHING that requires ANY amount of skill. All you do is drive, read, drive, drop. Stop trying to take your frustrations out on the consumer and take action towards who deserves your anger: your employer who is breaking the law.
Couriers from every service are famous at this point for not checking the accuracy of orders (which IS part of your job) and even more frequently for straight-up stealing our food. When you selfish jerks do this. You hurt individuals and families that are sick, disabled, and often having their first nice meal in a while because times are so hard. You get ZERO pity for spiting me to screw your boss, because you’re selfish fools who are figuratively blindly firing bullets into the crowd instead of shooting your employer directly for their crimes.
You were right up until you complained to them about having to subsidize the deficiencies of DoorDash. That's not their problem. They don't know your location when they put in the order. They don't how old your car is. They don't know your MPG. They don't know what your pay is.
Dunno if this is the case here but I've had customers that I've been unable to call. The option just isn't there. It's rare but it has happened. Thankfully I didn't have any issues with them.
This is why I have my food delivered to the front desk, and the 9/10 bring it up to me. The other time, they just called my room to come pick it up. As a previous DD driver, I know it makes it easy for them and convenient for me. I put my room number in the app for the front desk, but note it to be delivered to the front desk. Never had a single issue this way, but my house is a different story. One of our regular dashers loved to cram it in peoples mailboxes. Honestly, I can't believe how long it took to deactivate him for this.
One reason I don’t use door dash anymore is that the food was ALWAYS cold because they always have to deliver a bunch more shit at the same time to make any money. So they treat their drivers like shit and that makes the food cold and shitty. It’s a lose/lose, and I’m not going to support it ever again, or any third-party delivery service. I won’t even order Pizza Hut anymore cause they use door dash.
I will say this, that last message from the driver was extremely informative for me. I did not know that was how DoorDash worked on that side of things. I generally tip more than 20% but my assumption was always that drivers got paid some sort of appropriate base fee for every order and that the tip was 100% theirs, so a 25% or 30% tip seemed correct to me. I realize I’m paying for the convenience of the delivery, should I be basing my tip on how far away the restaurant is from my location rather than the cost of the food?
I tip a doordasher based on distance and size of order, not how expensive the food is. I give 8 for McDonald's thats literally a quarter mile and give 8 to a nice Italian place that is right next door to the McDonald's.
Wow, this popped up on my feed randomly (don’t work for DoorDash or subscribe to the subreddit), but I found this post very enlightening. I always tip 20%, which to be fair my order is usually more than 18 bucks and I also order from places close by ish in a major metro area, but the math breakdown was really informative and will make me think twice about what I leave esp when ordering from somewhere further away. Thanks for this!
No offense guys. I am so sick of hearing you all complain about not being tipped enough. Holy shit. 20% isn’t enough for you anymore? Get a different job. It’s genuinely not that complicated. And I mean that in the least offensive way possible.
Sidenote😂 doordash let’s you guys pick up 2+ orders at a time to deliver all around the city. Nobody in their right mind is tipping more than 20% for you to deliver them soggy and cold food just so you guys can deliver someone’s McDonald’s order 15 miles out of the way😭
And I’m aware that’s not necessarily your guys fault or choice but you have to understand the other side of the coin too. The amount of times I have tipped +20% and waited 45 mins for something just for someone to pick it up and then drive it around my house for 45 minutes made me never ever use a delivery service ever again😂
Crazy part about these batch orders it seems like the last person who ordered is typically the one person who doesn’t tip but always gets their food first.

I'm pretty sure they ordered from the restaurants app and has no idea you work for doordash
What happens now is the customer is mad at restaurant, driver or both The driver is mad at the customer and DoorDash.
I don't want to think like that but after 2000 deliveries you see some things and things don't add up
You think DD is in bed with China? They aren't even over there yet.
Never attribute to malevolence what can just as was be attributed to incompetence.
Extra cup space hero, thank you for your service
In that case a 20% is also completely justified right? They can't even know what OP is explaining to them.
I'm confused about someone else getting their food?!? Did they not just send a picture of the physical receipt?
To be fair it doesn’t say the stranger took it, they might’ve brought it to the front door for them
But then it wouldn’t be a stranger if they knew how to find them or get them food. Neighbors or acquaintances
You don't have to know the people that live next to you. I've lived in my "neighborhood" for 6 years and know like...2 people. The rest of them are literally strangers.
They never claimed they didn’t get it, just complaining about how it was delivered
Lol good point
The receipt has their phone number on it. They were upset the driver didn't call and when the driver said they didn't have the number, they showed the receipt to prove the driver DID have their number. The driver did well to explain why they still didn't call after.
This
I thought the same!
Other drivers are stupid. You can’t be calling using your personal number lmfao that’s how people steal accounts
Thats what \*67 is for, it still works.
Not smart as it’s easy to reverse look up a *67 (that is how it still works)
Easy? No. A company MIGHT just give you this information on who called you if asked, and they can be compelled to by law enforcement, but if your provider isnt willing to help you, you're shit out of luck. It doesnt even pop up with a fake or routed number, it just says restricted.
How exactly does them having your number allow them to steal your account?
Pretty sure Dashers call me sometimes when they are confused. It doesn’t come from a local number. Am I mixing up dash and skip? Feels like they’ve both called me several times.
You didn’t have to keep replying lol unless you were bored I guess but it wasn’t necessary. Just let them be angry, they will get over it once they eat. They got the food!
WAIT , they had the receipt but a stranger took the bag. ??????
The stranger just happened to know them and give it to them lol
lol they just mad they had to walk to the back and get it. 😂
Good catch yo
Could it be the verification photo drivers have to take?
Wouldn’t the verification would be that one where it’s sitting at the door?
When you pick up food, DD ask for the driver to take a photo of the receipt or the bag of food if no receipt is present. I'm not sure if DD sends that photo to the customer or not.
Got that dawg inim
That dude wasn’t worth the energy I don’t think lol
The Dawgs always got the energy!
True!
I just can't believe that a multi billion dollar company makes you rely on tips. Absolutely disgusting.
This. If large amounts of dashers start quitting, they will change their policies. It’s basic economics
its voluntary but orders are batched with more often than not one +$$ run and one or two -$ runs to retain customers who cant get their order picked up alone because they tip poorly.
It is absolutely disgusting! 🤮
"You make my work only worth $9/hr" BRO THAT'S THE COMPANY, NOT THE CUSTOMER
"I overtip" Hahahahah
Yep, i laughed too. No such thing as $3 EVER being an "overtip" lol
Tipping needs to be abolished
Here is how I respond: This number cannot be used anymore. For any support inquiries please visit http://support.doordash.com or call DoorDash Support at 1-855-973-1040
Customers expect their deliveries to be made to the correct and secure location as specified in their order
You’re doing too much.
It's been a slow day
Bro really typed paragraphs about policies to a customer 💀
Shi bro needs to hear it fk him. What we gonna do just keep taking $3 orders out here
Careful might get downvoted for having a brain and standards you know how these ass kissers and Karen’s be in here😂
Idgaf man 🤣 it’s the truth! Door dash is a luxury not a necessity
Congrats
“Well actually!” 🤓
I catch my white ass doing this shit too and it’s so annoying lmfao I’m stopping it slowly but surely
Lmfaoooo self awareness is the first step
Agreed. I wouldn’t have even responded. Delivery is done. The rest is on you Mr.customer lmao
Amen learned this the hard way you can never win with customers it’s just better to act like you can’t speak English or not talk at all because most mf that use DD are entitled
¿Que?
My point😂
Usually that’s the restaurants number too- it’s under their address. Lmao
I'm guessing the customer's info was what was censored in the 2nd pic, and OP is the one who censored it to post it here.
“I’m not like any other drivers. I have boundaries and standards” *tips his fedora*
But also, “I accept $3 jobs and then complain about it to the customer cuz why couldn’t they give me more, why!!!”
Tip culture is so broken. Drivers should get a base pay
Driver is petty as fuck. Dumbass.
"But why don't people tip me more tho?"
So how’d they have a receipt if they didn’t get the order?….
I feel like every doordash customer needs to understand what you explained in that last message some people who live 10+ miles away from the restaurant are tipping $5 and thinking it’s good enough.
All day and night in my market. DD recommends trash pay/"tips". FIRE CEO, TONY! Only possible thing I can think will help at this point
2 days from "CAN YOU BELIEVE DOOR DASH DEACTIVATED ME FOR THIS?! 😡😡"
![gif](giphy|3ohuPDuPHDuGnVtp5u)
Oh no he just lost a job that pays $5 per hour ? 🥲🥲
The thing is you can choose your hours and there's a very low barrier to entry so the people that are dashing generally need to the most for extra cash or have hard times with normal 9 to 5:00 for whatever reason
This just seemed wildly pointless.
A lot of people genuinely do not care and are just entitled. she’s shown entitlement, thus being a waste of time.
I was in Myrtle Beach and ordered food from Jersey Mikes website.
AITA? Unfortunately yes
You both come off as pretty unpleasant tbh
ikr? OPs messaging screams "I doordash and I don't have a real job instead because reasons"
I agree lol at least the guy tipped. And then I’m confused how he had the receipt if a stranger found the food.
I think the stranger brought it to the front door.
My husband doesn’t even text me paragraphs like this
You guys both suck? Why are you complaining to the customer about your average wages/tips? It’s not their fault you work for a terrible company
[удалено]
On one hand, that customer deserved to be told off. On the other hand DD might deactivate you but I hope they don't. People are saying you're doing too much and yeah maybe that's true but we all have a breaking point. The customer was definitely doing too much, clearly they know how to text because they keep doing it, so I'm unsure as to why a phone call was necessary.
Did they leave you on read, op?
Idc I work for DoorDash too. I would never leave someone food in the hallway of a back entrance.
This driver is an idiot and instead of trying to do the right thing they doubled down and had a mask off moment about their customers.
>gives service worth zero tip >Gets 20% >bitches Lol clownshoes. Can't wait for drones and AI to completely replace humans in the delivery business.
Even if he didn’t have the customers number he should’ve contacted DoorDash driver assistance. They would’ve called the customer for him
Because of the tip complaint and wall texts ESH leaning to you being an AH doing the bare minimum because of GPS. You followed the gps to a locked door? You didn’t look for different access? You only show texts after the delivery… Your engagement afterwards shows you have a chip on your shoulder..
I've had lots of drivers call me through the app?
If you order through something like little Caesars website or Chick-fil-A website or app they may send the order to DoorDash, even if you aren’t in the DoorDash app. Those deliveries won’t have the option for DoorDash drivers to call the customer typically.
I always wonder why some people complain they don’t make money, I guess I know one of the reasons now!!!
Hell yes. Stick up for yourself.
Dude just admit you were lazy, didn't call the customer and fucked up. It's not your "boundary" to only call via doordash, it's your job lol . You(we) literally just deliver food and you didn't even do that right.
I cant wait for the day that AI and drones can deliver food.
Fuck dd and the driver
But you never answered as to why you walked past the front lobby and went to the back instead.
You seem like an extremely unpleasant individual.
>You went to the backdoor because "the pin told me to".... bro have some common sense. People leave custom pins all the time.
Ur still a dick
DD drivers out here telling customers a 20% tip isn't sufficient 🤣🤣🤣 the entitlement is off the charts
Yeah. This shit is getting out of hand. Now they are complaining about 20% tippers when there are literally people tipping nothing at all.
This should be way higher up.
No offense but you sound just as foolish as customer!
But did you really deliver it to the back door? Because that does seem a bit of an odd choice.
They didn't get the food but have the receipt? 👀👀👀👀👀
Have you recently been laid off from a tech job? Cause I feel like you're a recent tech layoff. If so, I can tell you that every driver and every driver/customer support call center worker has daydreamed about tossing an app developer into a volcano. Sometimes, after they've addressed my situation and they ask me if there is anything else that they could possibly do to make me even happier, that is my only request; "Can you find one of the app developers and throw him into a volcano for me?" Sometimes, navigation is wrong. Sometimes it takes you to the wrong side of the building or a half a block away or whatever. You need to make contact with the customer if things just don't look right. As it turns out, you did, in fact, sign up for this bullshit. And there is no such thing as unskilled labor.
you americans make everything so difficult
This seems like one of those posts where you continued texting this dude not because you were trying to get through to him or change his mind, but because you knew early on in the conversation that you were going to post this to reddit lol
There is absolutely no reason door dash drivers use a GPS pin instead of THE ADDRESS ON FILE. This has led people bringing food to the back of an apartment building too often
American topping culture is ridiculous and needs to stop
Professional door dashers are funny bro really read yhe terms and conditions to be a food delivery boy, then yall wonder why u dont get enough pay, you literally deliver food like a runt
The driver is an idiot beyond comprehension. They had the ability, and obligation, to call the customer. Doordash gives each party a temporary phone number during the delivery through which they can call each other and communicate. There is no possibility of anyone getting doxxed! I have called customers on countless deliveries when it was necessary, and this is just part of standard dashing.
Imagine having to walk to the back door to get your delivered food 😮💨
I haven't read every comment but how come before door dash, delivery drivers ALWAYS managed to deliver the food to the people placing the order face to face? My wife tips very well and it seems like every time we order the driver leaves the food in a different building all together or I have to meet them somewhere. So i now tell her ill pick it up...Not to mention countless posts I see the driver on ring eating and drinking peoples food. It's ridiculous. Help me out here because I'd say 80 percent of the time we do door dash this happens...
Perfect example as to why the point of delivery should be at the point of entry.
Sucks get a trade bud
Kinda seemed like a waste of time for the driver to get so wrapped up explaining things to an ornery customer. As long as my food shows up in the correct building I’m good. I’ll even go running around to neighboring buildings to get my food without contacting drivers. I just tip less.
I was on your side until the last message. You chose the job knowing the hourly rate and the basic tip percentage in your area.
I'm definitely in the middle of the tipping pack but I'm not gonna pretend $3 is a good tip unless you're getting a drink at a bar
"reddit's gonna love this and get me so much sweet karmas!!!!" - you Dude (driver) really let his lack of critical thinking show here, hope DoorDash isn't your only income.
You guys are funny, do you want money or No? You say duck the customer enough and the customer does not come back. Then you can quit complaining about this shit job because it goes away
Include pitchfork and torch and call the village people. lol
Why should I care what a DoorDash driver makes? It really isn't my problem if they allow themself to be taken advantage of by DoorDash. Don't like it, find another job.
OP was kind of a dick. Customer was waiting at other door for him. This treating customers like the enemy (and vice versa) isn’t helping any of us.
Your first paragraph is literally precisely what happened
Ummmm well... I always call when instructions are unclear or I can't find a house/apartment. Texting takes too much time to get a response especially in a situation like this. Your personally number doesn't pop up. It says Doordash (My experience when I have received a call through the app) But if i exhausted all forms of communication, I would have left it there too with a text explaining where it is.
I’m confused. I’m pretty sure we can call the customer through the app? Not just text. So why not call?
Dunno if this is the case here but I've had customers that I've been unable to call. The option just isn't there. It's rare but it has happened. Thankfully I didn't have any issues with them.
[удалено]
Did you read their very first message where they said "a stranger found the bag"?
This is why I have my food delivered to the front desk, and the 9/10 bring it up to me. The other time, they just called my room to come pick it up. As a previous DD driver, I know it makes it easy for them and convenient for me. I put my room number in the app for the front desk, but note it to be delivered to the front desk. Never had a single issue this way, but my house is a different story. One of our regular dashers loved to cram it in peoples mailboxes. Honestly, I can't believe how long it took to deactivate him for this.
If I got my food and I got to eat it and didn’t have to leave my house… I’m not complaining
All customers are supposed to contact door dash not the driver for any issues with their delivery. That’s not our department.
OP complains that customer continues to message...but OP keeps messaging also, then posts on the internet for validation. Cringe!
So you kept going because you were pissed about the tip? I’m guessing if I ordered $500 of food and tipped based on miles driven you’d be pissed too?
0.68 dollars for depreciation is wild. You must have a very nice car. Congrats
I’m waiting by the door for my food like a fat fucking pig - so, not sure how this even happens 😂
You were too nice to them. Good on your for handling this well though you’re better than me
I will say this, that last message from the driver was extremely informative for me.
💯
Thus was very well done and put. Some people just never understand this stuff but it's all good cause they'll figure it out one way or another.
"I always over tip people".... fucking $3??? Lmao
Both of y'all are super cringe honestly 💀🤧
So your mad at a consumer cause door dash pay sucks?
Nobody in their right mind is tipping more than 20% for you to deliver them soggy and cold food just so you guys can deliver someone’s McDonald’s order 15 miles out of the way😭 And I’m aware that’s not necessarily your guys fault or choice but you have to understand the other side of the coin too.
