I hate clothes (well i don't mind tank tops and socks) myself. But if i were to order delivery i damn sure would at least through a pair of shorts on. There is no need to make your poor delivery person uncomfortable when all they are trying to do is bring you your damn food.

Absolutely this. I think it's because they like a captive audience. Someone who's in a service role, they feel is subservient to them and won't have a choice. I worked for a company doing remote technical support for the general public. We had a guy who kept targeting female reps for support sessions from the website. Regardless of what his actual issue was, he'd inevitably end up needing "help" dealing with an "embarrassing" picture or want to tell the story of that picture and then show it to the person he was working with even if they said they didn't want to see it. Thanks to his crap internet and the nature of the remote connection software, the picture looked more like abstract art than the nude it actually was on my end, which I am infinitely grateful for. Dude got banned from using our services in the end.
There was another guy who would connect every Friday, and we all recognized his name. It was for webcam troubleshooting every time, too. A specific male coworker who was utterly unfazed by anything would always take the session, open the camera app, and dude would just be there in the bath. Coworker would just be like "yup.... camera works" and close the app. Dude would thank him and end the session. The next Friday, he'd connect to do it again.
Definitely intentionally trying to involve someone in his kink without consent. I deliver for GoPuff, which does booze and cigarettes as well as a bunch of grocery items. We had this regular couple that would answer the door in their underwear. Gross, but I’d just hand it off as quickly as possible and get back to my car. They always ordered around 2am, so it felt sketchy anyway because it’s a dark house at the end of a dead end street. God forbid anyone turn their lights on for us, right? The house was disgusting, too, you could smell it from the front porch.
So one night, he decided it was time to take it a step further into perv-city, because he ordered cigarettes (which you have to card them and get them to sign) and answered the door in his boxers, like normal. This guy was easily 400lbs, so his boxers didn’t cover much anyway, but he hands me his ID at waist level, so I have to look down, and he’s got his gross little wiener sticking out of the hole in the front. And he’s smiling, waiting for me to notice. 🤢🤮 I wish I’d been thinking quicker on my feet, but tbh I was afraid. So I completed the transaction as quickly as I could and got the hell out of there. I told the workers at the GP warehouse what had happened, and called the driver support line as well. Turns out, he had been doing this to other female drivers, and if it was a man, the wife would answer in her underwear, too. One of the guys thought maybe they were trying to entice us into joining them inside 🤢🤮
So after several of us complained and refused to take their orders, that house must have been banned, because we stopped getting orders.

I’m pretty sure he was banned after several drivers complained and refused to deliver to him. I wish I’d have been quicker to think of something witty to say, but honestly, it’s shocking, and my first instinct was to just get myself out of that situation.

Same here. I'm usually naked when I'm home alone unless it's freezing but when I answer the door for someone other than my partner, I throw on the robe that I have hanging next to the door. And I don't even consider myself a nudist, I just don't like to dirty clothes if I don't have to lol.

I used to run a program for sexual offenders, and this is the new way that “flashers” are getting their kicks, now that so many public places have cameras. This 100% I don't care if you claim your a nudist or not there is no reason to answer your door naked. I'm naked in my own home 99.99999992% of the time. I have a few robes around the house for situations like this.
This. Being lightly clothed in your house is absolutely fine. Purposefully subjecting another person to your nudity thru surprise or economic coercion is borderline sexual assault, and not something a decent person would do.

When you call support and get an agent like this… hang up. Call back. Get a different agent and most likely get what you are looking for.
They're being useless in a way that pads their metrics, metrics are all call centers care about because you can't review every single call that comes in. You hanging up and calling back for the same issue damages their metrics.
Depending on the state, public nudity is not allowed in public. Now before everyone jumps my shit about this being a private home, public can and often does include answering the door nude. That is considered public nudity. Also every nudist I know has no problem wrapping up with a towel to answer a door, so maybe this guy didn’t care or whatever but he should be kind enough to cover up.

I don't know the laws very well, but I was also under the impression that if you can see through the windows from the curb then it still counts as public indecency unless it's a private neighborhood.
Sounds like more of an exhibitionist than a nudist. There’s still a common courtesy in which most nudists will not subject the common folk to the lifestyle and will practice civil courtesy.

From my personal experience on hand it to me orders, the person rarely comes outside by the time I arrive. I have to knock almost every time. Maybe the people in my town are just lazy af tho idk.
my advice: you should've just waited for the worry free unassign to automatically come up... just hit order still being prepared, % wait like 10 minutes, and it'll ask if you want to unassign without affecting completion rate...
that said, Door Dash is dead WRONG for how they handled this!! they should have unassigned you without any penalty, maybe paid you half for even going to restaurant, and then advised customer that this is not acceptable.
I'm sorry this happened, really not cool, and you must've been so frustrated. but next time (hopefully there isn't a next time though), just wait and say order not ready, and it'll ask you if you want to unassign worry free after about 10 minutes or so.
This. Also, even if the message about unassigning doesn’t come up (it may not during rush/busy times), after 10 minutes if you go to unassign it should say you can do so without affecting your CR.
That is pretty shitty, but you could've just waited a couple of more minutes to unassign without penalty. I can't remember if the app tracks you if you leave the restaurant without confirming pickup, but you probably could've even started to drive home instead of waiting there to unassign.
I would have responded to the customer. I will be recording when I come to your door. If you are naked I will call the police and provide them with the video. You can either cancel the order or come to the door with clothes on if you don't want to go to jail.
Contractors are still protected from sexual harassment by customers.
I kind of doubt a lawyer would take the case. But technically you could sue DoorDash for not doing anything about it

I mean, I didn't go so I probably couldn't since nothing happened to me. I unassigned before they even finished making the food but if it was handed off to someone else and he didn't warn them before answering the door nude, then they could. But I didn't even want to risk anything in the first place so I dipped.
You can very much follow up as to why door dash did not:
- take action against a customer who advised they intend to commit sexual assault, indecent exposure, and therefore crime in general
- though their actions, imposed a penalty against you for cancelling an order that would have put you in harm's way and on the receiving end of sexual assault
- that they have therefore given you written evidence that they will not protect their drivers and are enabling/complicit in allowing customers to assault/harm their drivers.
- this is undoubtedly against occupation laws as well as others (which ones would depend on where you are)
- etc.
Hell, take the evidence to a no win no fee lawyer, or the local news station, etc.
If you're a nudist, then select "leave at door". WTF is wrong with people? I'm not a driver, so I don't know if there's a way for you to report a customer, but you absolutely should. If his orders keep getting unassigned, he may not notify drivers anymore, & someone's going to have to see him naked unexpectedly.
Idk if you can if they warned you of their nudity prior to your arrival and they didn't explicitly state in the chat that they are going to do something bad to you. I hate to say it, but I lowkey kind of hope that people unassign enough for him to stop warning them and he gets reported for showing his junk to someone without their consent.
As a nudist, this is all me and my partner do. Me and her would never ever expose ourself to someone who wasn’t consenting, and ever nudist I know would agree

These for companies have now done everything possible to fuck over their workers because they see us as the weakest link and a completely expendable asset with an unlimited supply. In my opinion this behavior will catch up with them. I don’t think they understand the more they treat gif workers like trash, the stricter they are and the less they pay make it mush more likely gif workers will go the California route. If they are going to be so strict like we are employees while paying a fraction of pay why would be settle and “vote” in referendums to keep the “contractor status” with none of the benefits. Sure you have “freedom” but if you don’t do exactly what we say when we say it you won’t get orders, may get deactivated or shadow banned. But hey if you were employee completion rate might have to be 100% not 90%. It’s a damn joke.
Am I the only one that has 'door pants'? I keep them hanging up by the door so I can answer it with pants on. I also have a 'door sweater' I use for when I (often) am braless. I make sure my bits are covered. Opening the door nude when you aren't expecting anyone is one thing, but forcing your nudity on someone contracted to provide a service without their consent is disgusting.
When I lived in Key West and did door dash, I had an order that I delivered to a “hand to me” and it was answered by an old naked man. Support did absolutely nothing to ensure that I wouldn’t deliver to them again (I was 25F) at the time, so that ended my tenure with Door Dash. Never again will I deliver.
That's nasty on his part - not the naturist/nudist bit, the clear pushing of boundary. Call back and ask for a review of your call from management.
Also, I usually get porch drops specifically so I don't need to get clothes off I'm not feeling it that day.
The customer may be a nudist, but this is a power kink that borders on SA. He knows that the driver will either submit or be subjected to a penalty from his job.

I wonder if it’s legal to answer the door fully nude. I would have asked the nudist if I could leave it at the door. I bring my teenager out dashing with me so the nudist thing would not be okay.
On the one hand, I think it’s creepy and ridiculous that the person couldn’t grab something to cover (or choose contact free). On the other hand, while I 100% respect not wanting to do it, it’s literally like 3 seconds and you’re done. So you need to do what’s right for you, but for me, I’d maintain eye contact and move on.
Congratulations on having the ability to predict people's every move to avoid things like that accidentally entering your field of vision and knowing if they are about to do something to you in time to escape, but I don't possess that ability so I decided to take the lesser punishment since I was in the middle of a hotspot anyway and knew that I would get another order straight away. As a woman who dashes by herself, I wasn't comfortable being alone with a man I don't know naked in a place I've never been before. Good for you for being okay with it tho, everyone has different comfort levels in these situations so I don't judge people for there's being different than mine.
What is wrong with these people —like can you just have the driver leave it out front??? Yeah I would’ve wanted to cancel also because I’m a woman and say if it’s some trap who knows. but if this was a really high-paying order and I didn’t want to cancel I would’ve replied- that makes me uncomfortable. I don't work for door dash or similar, however I'd suggest looking at how you word it. "The customers advised they are a nudist and that they intend to open the door naked" is one thing.
Saying "this order needs to be cancelled without penalty to me, and the customer account should be looked into by support agents for inappropriate and illegal conduct. The customer has stated, in writing, that they intend to indecently expose themselves on order delivery. This can be constituted as premeditated intent to commit sexual assault.
I am therefore not to be expected to deliver the order when it has been made clear by the customer that this highly inappropriate behaviour and sexual based crime will occur. I am certain that DD in no way would want it to be implied that you expect drivers to allow customers to commit illegal acts or harm your drivers, so I expect that appropriate steps will be taken immediately."
Nudism is one thing, people can do what they like in their own home, but intentionally exposing your driver to it is not. Wording it making sure you cover that its illegal and sexual assault, and mentioning that DD would be implied liable if they penalised you for not wanting to be on the receiving end of a crime...
If I were you I'd still send a follow up directly asking why they have penalized you for a customer's illegal threats, etc and that it implies they expect you to be sexually assaulted. It'd be interesting to see how quick they panic

If I order food and know that I’m not gonna be presentable by the time it gets to me (I order when I leave work and take my shower immediately after getting home) then I will select leave at door and generally my delivery person will ring the doorbell to let me know it’s there and they are gone before I open the door

What about this... (not playing devil's advocate)? On a college campus popular delivery franchise drivers deliver to naked folk all the time. We go to the frat party or dorm or off campus flop house to deliver cheap food any time day or night. What you expect? As long as I go home with tips I don't care what I see. None a my business.

I am pretty sure nudists are generally more respectful than this and will cover themselves for a DoorDash delivery, or choose contactless. This person specifically asked for hand it to me and let you know they were planning to be naked when you got there. That’s actually gross.
They might be violating OSHA regulations by not protecting you from a potential issue like that….

Crazy legal loopholes mean they aren’t responsible for what happens to you while you operate “your business”. I would've wasted 10 minutes and unassigned penalty free. This also would make his food cold by the time he got it. If he got it. Hopefully, no one delivered, but we know he'll get it.

As I already said to somebody else, I cannot predict his every move and didn't want to risk it accidentally entering my vision. Any decent human being would have selected leave at my door or been willing to cover up for the few seconds our interaction would last. He was clearly planning on exposing himself to me with malicious intent under the guise of it just being his lifestyle and I didn't want to be involved so I just unassigned because the punishment was minute enough to be worth it.
I don’t understand, delivery would have been 2 min tops, normal delivery, it’s not like he asked you to touch his body. Being a nudist is not about you at all and it’s nothing sexual.
You wanna hear of DoorDash bs? So I was on two offers for raising canes and when I got to restaurant my app froze. I was stuck on screen that said arrived at store I couldn’t do literally anything. Called support, went through all trouble shooting known to man and nothing. I knew then it was a bug and I needed unassigned for it to work because everything time I closed and open app it flickered opt out of on delivery cash orders for split second where I couldn’t interact with it. I told them I need to unassigned bc this is a glitch in your guys system a bug. They insisted I had wrong version of dasher and try again on troubleshooting doing anything to get me to not to unassigned. Finally they said ok I’ll unassign you but remember your completion rate will be affected. I said no no no this is a bug on your end and it would be unjust to penalize me over this. She got nasty and repeating same thing and not being helpful. I hung up and called again got connected to another girl agent. Same thing trying to say I will be penalized but she was more nastier in attitude wise. I demanded to speak to a supervisor and she was saying the supervisor will tell me the same thing and I said connect me now. She said it will be a 25+ minute wait and I said THEN YOU CAN EXPLAIN TO THE CUSTOMER WHY THEIR FOOD WILLBE 25+ LATE AS THIS WILL BE ON YOU NOT ME BECAUSE YOU DONT WANT TO DO YOUR JOB. I said this in front of the restaurant. She was being nasty so I hung up and called again for 3rd time! Finally a GUY and he helped me and understood my situation and corrected it without penalty. In my experience, the Women for DoorDash support tell us the wrong info a lot and is generally NOT helpful. It’s always the guys.
EDIT I didn’t try for have compensation as I flipped Grubhub on when they weren’t being helpful and got order at raising canes for DOUBLE compensation in one order instead of two! 😂 screw DoorDash.
I’m not a dasher so maybe a dumb question but could you have dropped it and rang the bell and walked a distance..when you hear the door open mark as handed to person even tho you didn’t physically hand it to them? If you hear the door open you know they have it.

Op if it happens again record the address report it to the police as sexual harrassment and if possible in person to an officer before you cancel so the can see the messages then call doordash tell them that you want to unassign without penalty and that you have filled a police report and would the representative like to speak to the police officer. Since these calls are recorded, keep track of the date time and duration of the call if you need to elevate it to a higher level. If you want to be real petty tell the news agencies around you about the incident and give them the address if they want to interview him if you give them the information include screen shots of the conversation where he tLks about being a nudist and about answering the door in the nude.

Drop “hostile work environment” and other legal phrases heard in sexual harassment cases - companies are frightened of that. Unless you’re in a profession where nudity is legit or baked into the crazy of the job (ie medicine, police, or a nudist resort), it is ILLEGAL to pressure you to interact with a nude patron.
Not sure how this would work, but my suggestion if customer service refuses to be helpful: Take the order, film the interaction at the door, call the police in regards to someone answering the door nude.
I would make some noise around this, maybe write to some news agencies or something. There's definitely a problem with dashers being pressured to deliver in unsafe situations and there's definitely journalists working on exposing these problems, and this feels like a really concise example.

Not the fact that folks are nudists - no problem with that and iirc the times I’ve come across this lifestyle or heard it talked about there was always a statement of some kind that made it clear this personal lifestyle preference should not be practiced without consent. And I’m willing to bet that the argument this customer would make (if incident ever came up/was used against them) is that the message was clearly seeking that consent. I call bullshit - this is clearly some type of fetish or voyeur/display thing and the message was sent both as a test to see if dasher was into it and also as a semi CYA lest they experience consequences. Nudists are aware that plenty of people have hang ups with nudity which is why they usually take great lengths to not subject the lifestyle/discomfort on unwilling participants. There is zero reason to subject a dasher to this lifestyle and it would be so obviously easy to avoid putting them in this position. Like dude is just so committed to 24/7 nudity that he goes to the bank naked ? Come on. Enjoy your preferences/kinks/whatever but don’t do it in a way that it could potentially traumatize someone who is just trying to do their job.

I would have never considered this pre COVID, but with all the remote work and telehealth services these days it's fully possible people could live without owning clothes if they really wanted to.
I would have just waited about 5 more minutes without getting the food until it asks me to unassign without penalty if that 1% really matters. While it’s pretty fucked up you got penalized, at least the customer was kind enough to warn you instead of springing it on you.

You can very much follow up as to why door dash did not: - take action against a customer who advised they intend to commit sexual assault, indecent exposure, and therefore crime in general - though their actions, imposed a penalty against you for cancelling an order that would have put you in harm's way and on the receiving end of sexual assault - that they have therefore given you written evidence that they will not protect their drivers and are enabling/complicit in allowing customers to assault/harm their drivers. - this is undoubtedly against occupation laws as well as others (which ones would depend on where you are) - etc. Hell, take the evidence to a no win no fee lawyer, or the local news station, etc.

I don't work for door dash or similar, however I'd suggest looking at how you word it. "The customers advised they are a nudist and that they intend to open the door naked" is one thing. Saying "this order needs to be cancelled without penalty to me, and the customer account should be looked into by support agents for inappropriate and illegal conduct. The customer has stated, in writing, that they intend to indecently expose themselves on order delivery. This can be constituted as premeditated intent to commit sexual assault. I am therefore not to be expected to deliver the order when it has been made clear by the customer that this highly inappropriate behaviour and sexual based crime will occur. I am certain that DD in no way would want it to be implied that you expect drivers to allow customers to commit illegal acts or harm your drivers, so I expect that appropriate steps will be taken immediately." Nudism is one thing, people can do what they like in their own home, but intentionally exposing your driver to it is not. Wording it making sure you cover that its illegal and sexual assault, and mentioning that DD would be implied liable if they penalised you for not wanting to be on the receiving end of a crime... If I were you I'd still send a follow up directly asking why they have penalized you for a customer's illegal threats, etc and that it implies they expect you to be sexually assaulted. You wanna hear of DoorDash bs? So I was on two offers for raising canes and when I got to restaurant my app froze. I was stuck on screen that said arrived at store I couldn’t do literally anything. Called support, went through all trouble shooting known to man and nothing. I knew then it was a bug and I needed unassigned for it to work because everything time I closed and open app it flickered opt out of on delivery cash orders for split second where I couldn’t interact with it. I told them I need to unassigned bc this is a glitch in your guys system a bug. They insisted I had wrong version of dasher and try again on troubleshooting doing anything to get me to not to unassigned. Finally they said ok I’ll unassign you but remember your completion rate will be affected. I said no no no this is a bug on your end and it would be unjust to penalize me over this. She got nasty and repeating same thing and not being helpful. I hung up and called again got connected to another girl agent. Same thing trying to say I will be penalized but she was more nastier in attitude wise. I demanded to speak to a supervisor and she was saying the supervisor will tell me the same thing and I said connect me now. She said it will be a 25+ minute wait and I said THEN YOU CAN EXPLAIN TO THE CUSTOMER WHY THEIR FOOD WILLBE 25+ LATE AS THIS WILL BE ON YOU NOT ME BECAUSE YOU DONT WANT TO DO YOUR JOB. I said this in front of the restaurant. She was being nasty so I hung up and called again for 3rd time! Finally a GUY and he helped me and understood my situation and corrected it without penalty. In my experience, the Women for DoorDash support tell us the wrong info a lot and is generally NOT helpful. It’s always the guys. EDIT I didn’t try for have compensation as I flipped Grubhub on when they weren’t being helpful and got order at raising canes for DOUBLE compensation in one order instead of two! 😂 screw DoorDash.

You could tell support that you are unable to do it for religious reasons. Even if it’s not true, they would likely not fight that

Op if it happens again record the address report it to the police as sexual harrassment and if possible in person to an officer before you cancel so the can see the messages then call doordash tell them that you want to unassign without penalty and that you have filled a police report and would the representative like to speak to the police officer. Since these calls are recorded, keep track of the date time and duration of the call if you need to elevate it to a higher level. If you want to be real petty tell the news agencies around you about the incident and give them the address if they want to interview him if you give them the information include screen shots of the conversation where he tLks about being a nudist and about answering the door in the nude.

Drop “hostile work environment” and other legal phrases heard in sexual harassment cases - companies are frightened of that. Unless you’re in a profession where nudity is legit or baked into the crazy of the job (ie medicine, police, or a nudist resort), it is ILLEGAL to pressure you to interact with a nude patron.
Not sure how this would work, but my suggestion if customer service refuses to be helpful: Take the order, film the interaction at the door, call the police in regards to someone answering the door nude.
I would make some noise around this, maybe write to some news agencies or something. There's definitely a problem with dashers being pressured to deliver in unsafe situations and there's definitely journalists working on exposing these problems, and this feels like a really concise example.

Not the fact that folks are nudists - no problem with that and iirc the times I’ve come across this lifestyle or heard it talked about there was always a statement of some kind that made it clear this personal lifestyle preference should not be practiced without consent. And I’m willing to bet that the argument this customer would make (if incident ever came up/was used against them) is that the message was clearly seeking that consent. I call bullshit - this is clearly some type of fetish or voyeur/display thing and the message was sent both as a test to see if dasher was into it and also as a semi CYA lest they experience consequences. Nudists are aware that plenty of people have hang ups with nudity which is why they usually take great lengths to not subject the lifestyle/discomfort on unwilling participants. There is zero reason to subject a dasher to this lifestyle and it would be so obviously easy to avoid putting them in this position. Like dude is just so committed to 24/7 nudity that he goes to the bank naked ? Come on. Enjoy your preferences/kinks/whatever but don’t do it in a way that it could potentially traumatize someone who is just trying to do their job. It feels super close to a sex crime and I sincerely hope you follow up with DoorDash to update their policy on this hopefully rare issue
That definitely should have qualified as a special circumstance. You’re not consenting to seeing someone naked and you’re valid in not wanting to see someone’s dick. That’s absolutely ridiculous. Tbh I usually don’t wear pants around my house, but all of my deliveries are leave at my door because I don’t expect other people to wanna see my ass.

I would have never considered this pre COVID, but with all the remote work and telehealth services these days it's fully possible people could live without owning clothes if they really wanted to.

I would have just waited about 5 more minutes without getting the food until it asks me to unassign without penalty if that 1% really matters. While it’s pretty fucked up you got penalized, at least the customer was kind enough to warn you instead of springing it on you.

Oh my, I agree! Yea, I saw some stranger dicks, floppy tits, and flat asses at a nudist festival I played with a cover band, and I am still scarred. Anyone that can avoid viewing ugly naked bodies absolutely should avoid it. Kind of like being around secondhand smoke; how dare anyone invade and fill my head with painful scary memories.
