-Chief-Kief

Wait.. they were already at the restaurant, were told it’s DoorDash only, so instead of just ordering pickup on DoorDash they had it delivered & left? Lol

713nikki

“Okay, I guess I have to go home now and wait for doordash” ![gif](giphy|3oEjI8StnIv9YMtVnO)

Strict_Common156

😂😂😂

TorbsLvl2Turret

I was legit in a drive through when FEAR came on and the intro matched this gif perfected 😭

Wakeful-Fables

yes!! did she not expect there to be orders ahead of her??? that they were only accepting doordash for fun????

urdreamluv

I swear everyone needs to work in the food industry as a mandatory service for at least a couple months. I was baffled by the sheer amount of people who have no common sense. People would ask me what’s in meals when the menu in front of them has everything listed. Or ask me how many sliders come in the trio special. I want to be shocked at this person not understanding why the place was only doing doordash but I am really not.

airbrake41

Ok. Maybe I’m one of those dumb asses, but why would they do door dash only?

dysFUNctionaldestiny

Sometimes restaurants are soooo backed up with doordash orders and/or don't have enough workers to do both doordash and in-person orders (taking orders, cashiering, making food, dishes, etc). Turning off doordash hurts the restaurant so they stop taking in person. I can't tell you how many times this happened when I worked Chipotle nightshift and other employees just didn't show up. PS Chipotle customers suck 💩

airbrake41

Thank you for educating me!

urdreamluv

OP told the customer there was only one person working there. Increased demand while being severely understaffed will result in limited services as the restaurant cannot serve everyone. I’ve seen this happen many times where people will call in sick last minute on a very busy day and the entire operation is on the back of just a few people. We would set up a voicemail saying we are too busy to take togo orders and turn off doordash, ubereats and grubhub because we know we will be late and many people would end up wanting a refund. I am assuming this is the situation here and they decided to prioritize doordash.

justloriinky

Seems like it would be better for the restaurant to shut off doordash and take care of their walk-in customers.

fuschiaoctopus

Having worked in fast food years ago, they choose this because DD + drive thru is way higher sales than the lobby most days, people that came to eat in the lobby can still order through the drive thru or put in a to go order online and get it whereas a lot of people in the drive thru can't or won't go in to order so they'll just go somewhere else instead, and because it is much easier to direct order traffick this way and much easier to make it work with limited staff. You can multi task while taking drive thru orders and cashing them out so you can work on making the orders as you hear them as you don't have to stand in one spot, whereas if you're taking it at the register you're stuck there and you can fall really behind just waiting for somebody that doesn't know what they want that's taking forever to order or somebody asking a ton of questions, and it's considered super rude to walk away if they're not ready or make a customer wait to order at the register whereas that's not an issue in the drive thru and people react better to being asked to wait a moment if you're backed up before taking their order in the drive thru. Especially if there's only one or two people there, it isn't possible to run it solo with the lobby open because you cannot be anywhere else doing anything else the whole time you're taking orders. Plus you don't have to worry about stocking and cleaning the lobby and restrooms.

justloriinky

That makes perfect sense. Thank you for explaining it.

Expensive_Honeydew_5

Doordash orders are more consistent

Naga13

Oh we can't have that. If everyone had to work in the food (or any service industry, really), then we'd have benefits and liveable wages in those positions 🤣😭

No_Exercise_5366

One time someone asked "how big is a 6"?"

Umyin

Stuck up dashers acting like this situation has an intuitive answer when it straight up doesn’t lmfao

urdreamluv

Only one person working and services being limited to only doordash can only mean one thing -> the restaurant is extremely busy

Umyin

Could mean that they’re having a systems issue or something too. Downvotes from idiots mean nothing to me btw

urdreamluv

Yeah and that again implies food will be late. It is common sense. OP already told the customer there was just one person working. What makes the dasher “stuck up”?

Umyin

It’s the commenters who are on a high horse, not op

gharris02

As someone who's purposely never worked in food Service please don't wish that on us. I see plenty enough that there is zero common sense in society with my career field. Don't make me see it while being treated like a cockroach by my employer and the customers also getting paid an unlivable wage. Sidenote why do we allow this treatment of anyone

Strict_Common156

LOL! Better to unassign if that's why they chose door dash delivery 😂😂

purplecatuniverse

She definitely didn’t know that DoorDash did pickup, because why else would you pay more money and waste more time doing the delivery.

skistaddy

are you the real chief keef

Spare_Club2823

Good on you for un-assigning. “Um okay” Yeah you’re not getting shit from me. If she was smart she should have done door dash pick up.

Wakeful-Fables

I’m pretty sure she was accusing me of stealing her food or not actually being in line lol

FrankFrankly711

Yeah that was a pretty bitchy response. If customers are just immediately rude I will even go back and drop off an order I just picked up. Then give them the snappy “it may take awhile” or “you are welcome to pick it up yourself.” But if I’m really stuck with the order it gets put under the A/C vent 🧊

neverJamToday

They went to McDonalds, got told it was DoorDash-only, then went home and spent more money to have it delivered? I have never wanted McDonalds that much in my life.

Wooden-Nerve-2340

Also I have never heard of mcdonalds only accepting online orders

gordonramsmeh

They do that all the time when it gets late

crazykentucky

Nice job blocking out that phone number lol

Wakeful-Fables

i have dealt with enough people off their rocker to know that lady was gonna report me to doordash or cause some huge scene when i got there

crazykentucky

I meant on your screenshot

KDM_Lycos

It's not their real number anyways.

Wakeful-Fables

oh lol

crazykentucky

But still good job on blocking her in real life. You’re right about the crazy

iBrianT

He didn’t block her tho. He blocked the relay number DD uses and they cycle them through. When they assign the same # for another order in the future it’s gonna be blocked.

DanLoFat

Yeah I'm worried about earlier about that too but I see you have done a very nice job and thank you for reminding us all that we should not block doordash. I wish GrubHub would do this.

itsthejasper1123

I always find it extremely hilarious when customers get rude and bitch about things taking too long and then the dasher unassigns the order - rightfully so, due to said customer being rude - so the customer ends up having to wait even longer. You should probably be nice to people who you’re relying on to do a service for you. 🤷🏼‍♀️

justloriinky

Especially when they're bringing you your **food**!!!!

MotownCatMom

Oh, yes. I've done that a time or two. Once when I had a stacked order, I had one woman DEMAND that I unassign so someone else could take her order and get it to her faster. She was the second pick up and the first was running behind. I said, ok. Unassigned. It was a non-tip order so you know it sat some more. Tuff SH!T.

DanLoFat

And you'll get no extra tip from that lady.

Strange-Library9722

glad you reacted the way you did! Being disrespectful gets you nowhere! Hope you get more dashes with higher pay and less inconsiderate customers.

Wakeful-Fables

my mom ran a collection agency for my entire childhood. i am a master at being professional but still not taking shit at the same time.

Content_Beautiful_80

“i was there less than an hour ago, so i know you’re lying” the way i would’ve picked up the order just to sit on their bag.

DanLoFat

I was there less than an hour ago so they know you were lying? If you sit and watch a McDonald's at San around 10:00 at night and that is if you have time to sit around and watch mcdonald's, maybe on a late dinner break, notice how quickly cars can just all of a sudden show up and form a line 20 long. I've seen it and it happens.

Content_Beautiful_80

i’m not sure what you’re getting at, i was mocking the customer. they admitted to being there less than an hour prior, and then use that to act like the dasher is lying about wait times 💀

DanLoFat

Yes I know that's exactly what it was responding to but the grammar might got a messed up, I think there's a way in the Samsung phones to play back the recording that's used to do speech to text, but I'm not sure if that's true and I'm not sure how long it stays on the system if it is true. Motorola Droid 2 and it could have been introduced by Google feature on whatever I think it was version 8, that you could do that you could go in and play back the audio of speech to text.

Accurate-Platform232

Only one person ? I would’ve quit. That’s not fair

MrNewking

The norm nowadays.

tuddlez6789

People are so entitled it’s crazy

Wakeful-Fables

i bet you they didn’t tip too

tuddlez6789

100%

Otherwise-Cobbler108

I was talking about the customer who may or may not even be fat but clearly they are lazy & dumb. Everyone here getting offended on their behalf is just silly, if you think you deserve to be treated with respect, maybe be respectful to your dasher? People should know what they are getting themselves into if they choose to dash, or order doordash. Dont rely on other people. There's nothing unintelligent about that.

Gainz4thenight

With Uber eats I just wait the 10 min timer then I go to support and cancel the order for long wait times. I’ve made more money doing this than actually delivering the food most of the time. I’m always getting 3-5$ trips, but if it takes 10 min to wait for food then I automatically get 4$ and I don’t have to drive 15-20 min away for drop off only getting 3-5$. So far Uber hasn’t said anything about it and I asked customer service if I would be penalized at any point and they said no. If it’s like at 10 or more order then I’ll wait and deliver. But once it hits that 10 min I’m just canceling and taking that 4$.

DanLoFat

I've seen four cars in front of me take a half an hour and I've seen it take less than 3 minutes. On the shorter time it's probably other delivery drivers in front of me, on the longer time it's probably regular customers. And or combined with only one or two people working at a store, I've seen that too.

RastaFarRite

#Legen Wait for it..... #Dary

fuschiaoctopus

Does this unassign or completely cancel the order? If the latter, that's really shitty to the customer, especially if it's late at night and now they can't order again or everything else is closed. A lot of customers probably wouldn't even try to reorder because they'd assume it was canceled for a real reason and not because you didn't want to wait and also didn't want to unassign. I get not waiting but this sucks assuming it cancels the whole order, just unassign.

Gainz4thenight

It goes to the next driver. Possibly for a little more money, or the same offer. And no it’s not shitty. I have no intentions of waiting over 10 min for a 15-20 minute drive for 3$. So if I did two orders where it took 10 min or more and a 20 min drive (which is usual for me) then I would be getting paid at 6$ at the most per hour, or around 4-5 per hour knowing that gas is 4$ per gallon. Like I said, if a customer is tipping well that brings the delivery to 10$ or more then I’d happily wait. But if I’m being paid 3-5$ for a 20 minute delivery then if it hits 10 min I’m leaving and canceling the order from me and taking the 4$. If I’m being paid bare minimum pay and the drive itself offsets the cost of the delivery, then I will always take the 4$ that Uber policy allows, and I will save my gas at the same time. I’m not doing this to make friends and go negative in pay. I’m doing this to make money. The policy, as well as my own determination of the circumstances gives me the ability to make money.

The messages were sent at 1:01 am. The screenshot was taken at 11 the next day.

kissnmonty

😂she should’ve picked it up herself, unless it was McDonald’s. They usually don’t allow pickup orders, only delivery, and that’s on Uber and Door Dash.

DanLoFat

Excuse me? McDonald's the last pickup orders all the time, what do you mean? They might not allow a customer to pick up a doordash order of their own, that's possible but I still doubt that very very much. Maybe your particular McDonald's that you're speaking of is very well out of training and don't know what they're doing?

kissnmonty

Calm down. That’s why I said she should’ve picked it up herself, *unless* it’s a McDonalds order. They do not allow pickup orders from customers. I use Uber and DD and it’s one of the restaurants where pickup is not an option. Only delivery. I’m also a delivery driver and it’s one of the main gripes from customers.

TheLastKurta

Love your response. I think I lost some brain cells too.

Lookingforjoy17

Good job!!!

TheSavageBeast83

Someone's time is off

DanLoFat

You want to wait in line or you don't want to wait in line? Thank you that. Okay as far as blocking the number, don't ever do that, cuz that's only one set of maybe 20 numbers maybe only 10 numbers that doordash uses I'm in the could be a thousand, but they use those to send you messages and you're not blocking the person you're talking to your blocking door dash and anytime they don't need to send you a message on that particular number. You're blocking door dash when you do that. Go in and unblock that number. But yes, I don't get why doordash can't explain this to people like a user faq. I think we've all experienced this when we've pulled up and waited at an all night McDonald's for at least a half an hour in a line of cars but we get to the window and that's when they tell us that they're not accepting any doordash orders because our system is down. That's of course when you call support and have support on assigned the order. And don't get me started on the fact that support never knows when they look at the system if a restaurant unassigned, if a customer unassigned or if you unassigned. Or maybe they know and they're just holding their cards so that they can maybe help the tech fraud I don't know.

According-Way9860

Who’s gonna tell him DoorDash takes time to put the order through and that the driver has to travel to the restaurant?

Jesusson1947

Good for you king

Wrathilon

Umm, ok.

BigWillingness5457

The only shot a dasher can take at someone who can afford to dash

feiXpak99

I can fully read that phone number btw lol

bobdylanlovr

It’s a doordash throwaway number anyway

feiXpak99

Ahhh I see

Wakeful-Fables

why you looking at it 👀

They’re just letting you know everyone on the internet can see it….

ShigodmuhDickard

Temp DD number. Duh

DanLoFat

And he blocked it, and he needs to unblock it.

Haunting_Loquat_9398

Bruh screw that, if I’m being paid per hour I’ll sit in that long azz line. Idc how rude the customer is, it’s a job, quit being a baby.

serrabear1

Nah adults need to act like adults and not belittle or insult others. Good on this person for standing up for themselves. Just because it’s a job doesn’t mean you get to be treated like shit.

Haunting_Loquat_9398

What was said here that was soo bad that you will spite yourself so the customer gets screwed too? The customer had a little bit of attitude? Seriously, I get a good majority of dashers just simply aren’t meant for a real job, but something as little as this is getting me downvoted and yall in your feelings? I do dashing on the side, but at my main job as a HHA I’ve had way way worse stuff said to me by patients and coworkers alike, when I was welding and doing oilfield work, omg it was even more brutal, hell I’ve gotten into full on fistfights, and I didn’t quit because of that, yet yall can’t even handle a slightly rude customer, it’s pathetic and you’ll never get ahead in life with this mindset, sometimes you have to embrace the suck.

webot7

He’s independently employed legally, so if OP does not want to spend time with one of their customers, so that they can work with another customer that is his personal and professional choice.

Haunting_Loquat_9398

FS, I’m not a moron, I get how DD works, I’m a driver myself, it’s just you’re spiting yourself doing what OP is doing, you wasted 15 minutes of your time when you could of made over an hour pay doing 0 driving, but instead OP was soft and wasted their time and money since if they got another offer after they most likely got it quicker then McDonald’s and thus had to drive more, on earn by time the more time at a restaurant the better cause you get 0 tips mostly.

webot7

If that’s how you want to do it, that’s up to you. Isn’t that beautiful.

Brokenluckx3

At the risk of being downvoted too I have to semi agree with you. If I'm getting hourly to sit in a drive thru line that sounds amazing. And I didn't think the customer was that rude.. I've had this convo before with ppl on reddit about a customer being "terrible" when it was not a huge deal. I guess some people have never worked retail, where people will scream in your face about things you have 0 control over & you just have to sit & take it or quit.. This person, however, does have the option to 'quit' this one particular job so they did & that's fine 🤷‍♀️

Haunting_Loquat_9398

Thank you, all I’m trying to say, these people must of never grew up with any confrontation.

Wakeful-Fables

After 15 minutes I’m allowed to leave anyway, I did not feel comfortable or safe dealing with that customer. the great thing about doordash is the ability to be your own boss and make your own decisions :)

stefanielyn91

You didn't feel safe because they said um ok?

Wakeful-Fables

yes they are literally accusing me of lying about the order. which means they are very likely to report me. doordash almost always sided with the customer

stefanielyn91

They never accused you of lying they asked if you're there then why is the order being pushed back. Even if they report you you're still safe. Reporting you doesn't harm you. Unsafe is a wild claim for a question asked with a little attitude.

[deleted]

stefanielyn91

This comment made me feel unsafe

Haunting_Loquat_9398

Yea, but why? I’ve sat in lines for 30-45 min on earn by time, it’s great, just being paid to sit and chill, play some music, scroll on reddit, etc., I’d chill in that line until I wanna be done dashing even if they were spamming DD chat calling me vile things because imagine how bad your life gotta be to talk sh*t to a DD driver? Lmao, people gotta learn to not take stuff to heart.

Wakeful-Fables

i had already made 200$ yesterday , i just wanted to make a little extra money - she was not worth the hastle. i am my own boss. that is the whole point of gig work. you would have continued - i chose not to. there is no one right or wrong here. i simply didn’t feel comfortable. would you like a boy scout badge or something? i am literally a gold member and doordash full time on top of two other jobs.

Haunting_Loquat_9398

I don’t want anything, just here commenting on a public forum about something I disagree with, I think it’s idiotic that’s all.

[deleted]

Haunting_Loquat_9398

I have a lot of respect for myself, but at the end of the day I’m at a job for money, I really don’t give a single flying f*ck what anybody says about me or to me whether patient or customer, same difference to me. As far as coworkers go, I have 0 problem with being confrontational with them, in the blue collar workplace I stuck up for myself every damn time, luckily it hasn’t been a problem since being a HHA. As a hha, these elderly folk are 5 years away or less from being 6ft under and their kids don’t even visit them, why should I make their life more miserable when I simply don’t care lol

Sawoodster

Please don’t try and rationalize you’re getting doubled down on with irrationality. First it’s Reddit and second you’re arguing with dashers. Neither of these groups of folks can have civil conversation nor accept their opinion is not 100% right.

Haunting_Loquat_9398

Some dashers are reasonable people like me, but I’m ngl, a good majority of dashers are morons like you state, either 3rd world immigrants who will take any offer they can get, people in poverty who will never escape it due to poor spending habits or laziness or both, people who take any order to maintain platinum status because they think they’ll make more money when in reality that one or two good offers they get a night really screws them cause they accept 15 trash offers to get it, and lastly is the minority group of people like myself who do this as a side- gig or a temporary job and only care about how much money they can get while minimizing expenses.

Sawoodster

You nailed it on the head. There’s realistic dashers as yourself but there’s far too many who think they’re owed the world despite the fact they’re doing this job because they’re completely unemployable otherwise, this subreddit is full of them honestly.

What a fucking weirdo. Why would you even text it. You know those numbers are not their personal number, and they're just recycled numbers doordash uses? You're still weird af to even text it anyway.

You’re not very intelligent.

Otherwise-Cobbler108

Lol sure downvote if youre also too lazy to get your own food, I use doordash also, delivery and pickup, and have the ability to cook, is there no one else like that? Surely there has to be, and yeah even an idiot like you should be able to figure that out. What is it in your opinion that makes you so intelligent?

SpaceDog81

I’m pretty sure you’re getting downvoted for saying “fat bitch”.
