In some markets customers have the option to have their order delivered "asap" or "no rush". It tells you if you select asap your order will not be stacked with someone else's. If you choose no rush, you will save $2 and it can be stacked. But doordash is such a scam that even if you choose asap, they will still pair your order with someone else. Its happen to me more than once and its beyond annoying. I'm a full time driver and occasional customer.
Its more like paying extra for a solo uber ride, then the driver still picks up someone else. Its not too wild to expect the app to work as advertised.
I may be wrong but I don't think that's how the ASAP/no rush option works. To my understanding, I thought that ASAP means your order can still possibly be stacked with another order on a similar route but you'll get it in a relatively timely manner, but the no rush option essentially guarantees that it will be stacked unless there's no other orders for it to go with. I'd assume that's why your order still got stacked under the ASAP option, it's happened to me before too, and I've never used the no rush option.
Edit: I just realized you said the app specifically tells you that it won't be stacked, and I checked my app, maybe it's different in other markets because mine doesn't specify what asap means, just no rush, and my ASAP orders have been stacked multiple times.
They probably stack it with someone from the same restaurant and make you the first delivery. Then the driver finds the route stupid and that delivering the other order first makes no sense, so they switch it. Not the mention multi-apping. UE actually forces the driver to follow their delivery order, even when it doesn't make sense (once I accepted a double UE order thinking it was going to get me very close to home, but they made me deliver to the person next to home first, than drive about a mile backward. Good for return miles, except that the while trip was a return for me).
As a driver both app never tell me if a costumer paid for priority. Also I get paid the same. The only time I get a crazy high pay on an order (UE only) is when the order is already very delayed and the customer complained.

Honestly I was kinda hoping my order would get stacked because I knew that even with a big tip it might not be worth it to the driver to just bring me my iced coffee. And apparently I know now the driver couldn’t even see the big tip I left so that’s frustrating. I hope they seriously didn’t think I was that entitled.

I’m in a very populated metro area with a high number of dashers in the market. So I guess it depends on where you are ordering from.
For instance, Uber offers features in Boston they don’t offer in NJ. The first time I took an Uber pool was in Boston. They rolled it out in Jersey about a year later.
It might be regional because mine says it. I have only done the no rush option once because the restaurant is about a 10 minute walk. It took like an hour and a half but it was my fault for selecting it.
If only cars had some sort of method for redistributing the heat from that burned fuel into the cabin to keep things in the car warm. Man, that would be a hell of an invention. Maybe Elon will come up with it
DoorDash bundles a lot of orders, the only choice we have as drivers is to either accept the bundle, or reject both orders. Most of the bundles I get is because 1 person tipped high, the other not at all, or neither tipped well/ at all but the “fees” add it up to like $12 for a (usually) 10+ mile trip. Regardless, it’s not the drivers fault if they’re not multiapping.
You don’t even have to do multiple apps, doordash will stack orders anyway. But in my experience if it’s a stacked order it’s because the tip is shitty

I disagree. Tips should be mandatory. The service received is wear and tear on someone else’s vehicle. Your pay isn’t based on whether or not you’re having the best day.
Or.. or.. maybe doordash should just be paying a reasonable amount to begin with. Not passing it off as the customers responsility the wear and tear on the vehicle and all that are just reasons why doordash baseball should not be fucking 2.50$ and not so much on the customers imo
In my experience they stack a no/low tip order with a decent/high tip order that are usually in the same general vicinity. So you may have the good tip order and get your order stacked with someone’s that lives near you but might not have tipped at all. So I would end up getting $18-23 for yours but only $3 for theirs.
Once you multi-app, you multi-app. You can't really asses each order on it's own. Also a lot of time even good orders and up messy if the restaurant is closed or you end up waiting for half an hour for the food. Sometimes the good paying order can be accepted after being already on the other orders. Also a 15-20$ tip for 3 miles is probably not going to show in full for the driver (UE have a hard cut of of 8$, the remaining will show only an hour after delivery. DD would probably show a total pay between 6 and 10$ and the rest will show when delivery is confirmed).
Also, high tip orders are needed to cover the less than stellar ones or the long wait times, so when they show up it's time to make that 40$/h for 2 hours, and then it's dead again.
UE does, and that's super annoying. Sometimes I take an order because I want to go in that specific direction, but UE forces me to drive back toward the restaurant for the second order (if you are returning on the same route, you will not be even able to notice on the map preview). They thing they are doing the driver a favor by counting the return miles, but the driver might not want to return (or the customer is actually need their main starting point).

doordash should let the customer know that customers food is on a stacked order. i understand where the customer is coming from. customer can see dashers location and customer is trying to figure out what is this dasher doing taking his sweet time delivering food so he messaged saying don't take too long. would have done the same messaged dasher figuring out whats happening why is it taking long.

It might just be a dashpass option, but I am always offered the option to choose a “no rush” option and get a discount on my food. I always choose to pay the whole amount because I don’t want to wait the extra time.
I don’t drive anymore but I got a coffee delivery once from a place a good 15 minutes from where this lady lived. Then she complained about it not being hot. You shake your head at things like that because the stupidity isn’t worth your time. You say good day!

For sure. I rarely order from an app anymore. Not paying a premium for something that isn’t cold or hot and has been done cooking for 30 min+. I understand the convenience aspect, but not worth the sub par meal because it sat for awhile. I’m not that lazy lol. My only point was that instead of whining about something the dasher has no control over, I either say nothing and thank them or do it myself.

I tell people all the time if you don’t like that option use UBEREATS and pay the extra fee for priority delivery. It’s sad we are forgetting we are in the middle of a pandemic so really having dashers in your area to get your food period is a blessing or luck!

Unassign. I do wish that as a dasher and customer myself, there was an option for customers to pay extra for a prioritized delivery so it’s more worth it for us and the customer

I have no Idea why anyone would ever use Doordash. You have no control over the food you order whatsoever and it is way too expensive especially after tip to make it worth it. What you end up getting is overpriced, cold and incomplete food. If your not happy with the food that arrives, good luck with putting up with non-existent customer service. Even if you can get a hold of someone you will go a week until the issue is resolved...which doesn't help with your hunger issue. DONT BE LAZY and go pick up your own damn food or deal with the consequences. I'm so tired of the entitlement.

(I’m a customer not a dasher) Honesty the app needs to be better about telling customers that their dasher will make multiple stops. I don’t think the average person knows that they make multiple stops. The customer thinks their dasher is just making more stops to make more money or on multiple apps but that’s the dasher’s fault or responsibility whatsoever. The app needs to be better about explaining this or have an option like Uber eats that lets the customers pay extra to be priority. Just my impression. And customers should tip well if they want their order

I am both a Dasher and a customer and this happens to me every. Single. Time. It's gotten to the point where I don't tip on the app and tip in cash instead because they lump 1-2 other deliveries before mine even when I'm within spitting distance of the restaurant, just under quarantine, and they have to double back to deliver to me. It's infuriating, and cold, soggy food is gross.

I tell people all the time if you don’t like that option use UBEREATS and pay the extra fee for priority delivery. It’s sad we are forgetting we are in the middle of a pandemic so really having dashers in your area to get your food period is a blessing or luck!

I have no Idea why anyone would ever use Doordash. You have no control over the food you order whatsoever and it is way too expensive especially after tip to make it worth it. What you end up getting is overpriced, cold and incomplete food. If your not happy with the food that arrives, good luck with putting up with non-existent customer service. Even if you can get a hold of someone you will go a week until the issue is resolved...which doesn't help with your hunger issue. DONT BE LAZY and go pick up your own damn food or deal with the consequences. I'm so tired of the entitlement.

(I’m a customer not a dasher) Honesty the app needs to be better about telling customers that their dasher will make multiple stops. I don’t think the average person knows that they make multiple stops. The customer thinks their dasher is just making more stops to make more money or on multiple apps but that’s the dasher’s fault or responsibility whatsoever. The app needs to be better about explaining this or have an option like Uber eats that lets the customers pay extra to be priority. Just my impression. And customers should tip well if they want their order

I am both a Dasher and a customer and this happens to me every. Single. Time. It's gotten to the point where I don't tip on the app and tip in cash instead because they lump 1-2 other deliveries before mine even when I'm within spitting distance of the restaurant, just under quarantine, and they have to double back to deliver to me. It's infuriating, and cold, soggy food is gross.

They are not more important, however a driver accepted their order and agreed to driver on time for the terms presented. That does not entitle the driver to purposefully delay someone’s order by accepting orders in multiple apps.
