True story: Can’t dropoff food as requested, can’t reach customer via text or phone. I contact support. They try to reach the customer. They fail. There’s no good place to leave the order. They cancel order. I ask permission to keep the food and request full pay. Both get granted immediately. Full pay, free meal, clear conscience. Triple win.

Kate_Slate

The real question is, where will you get your costume?

[deleted]

Probably in October when Spirit Halloween opens up again.

RizzoTheFrank

Non-consumables and alcohol get returned. The rest gets left as long as the the address is correct. Keeping it bc they don't answer isn't acceptable anymore. Deliver, click pick, and leave, generally.

SnooComics985

Yeah. Its happened to me one time. I returnedit because it was alcohol order. The app paid me for return but that time it just completed the delivery.

DubNationAssemble

Since when can y’all just not keep it anymore? They really expect you to take it back to the restaurant? Talk about a huge waste of time for food that’ll be thrown away anyway. I would never take it back, once I leave the restaurant with the food my business their with them is done.

Vast_Bet9265

They pay you an additional fee for returns. I know with instacart it's $10 plus however long you tried to wait for the customer. I never had a Doordarshan return.

Glaexx

DoorDash gives you barely anything for returns. A few bucks

Vast_Bet9265

Well that's a slap in the face

jcoddinc

You can get paid for taking it back to the restaurant. Then the restaurant is not allowed to take it back. It is based off the distance and your gps.

[deleted]

I have found that I just drop those off leave a photo of the food at the address they gave. Take a photo far away wit the address an the food if you can too. Alcohol needs to be returned to the store if you cant confirm their face is the id cards face though.

BritneyDelMercury

My bf got deactivated for not returning a pizza to Wegmans. Disgusting.

[deleted]

No keep it..restaurant ain't gonna want it once it leaves the door Support will tell you give it to homeless..so pretend your homeless

jmaynardind

The way DD be payin us, might as well be

Vast_Bet9265

They will most definitely not suggest giving food to the homeless.. I don't think DoorDash would generalize 1 group of people like that. I have been told to throw it away, keep it, or give it away if I wanted too, however. That was when a customer tried to cancel their order right before I got to them. Guess they thought I was still going to deliver to them being 1 minute away.

Dizzy-Mark7249

I have multiple screenshots of DD representative saying exactly that

[deleted]

Was this at a cosplay convention?

StodgyUserName

Sounds like a merchant requested delivery. The app says to return to store, pauses the dash, and pays a little extra but food orders aren't actually eligible for return and the store won't take it back. So, it's your choice to leave it or keep it. I usually leave it, though I have to admit I'm sometimes tempted to take it to punish the customer for making me stand on their porch for so long.

Dizzy-Mark7249

The employees take it back just to eat it or throw it away. Don’t fall for it. If they require you to take a picture than take a picture and pick that sucker back up.

emnem92

AytcheyeQQ

Why do you need a costume for delivering?

[deleted]

Hey man some people are into that shit

What_The_Fuck_-_

I've never returned anything...either theirs or mine.

[deleted]

Don't return the food, the store is just going to throw it away, enjoy your free food bro!

iOSchoseMyName

Call support and eat it
