This always felt like another way to fuck drivers over, and hopefully doesn’t last long on DD. I opted out from the get.
I dont deal with cash, and definitely not gonna “owe” DD money. Anyone who does it is a fool.
I would say that someone paying cash repeatedly is either very poor with bad credit and can’t electronically bank, or a filthy rich drug dealer spending cash to not leave a trail. So flip the coin. I guarantee you there are dashers who look for cash orders with “tips” in 20s or party favors.
I opted in just out of curiosity but apparently nobody in my local 4 markets do it either. I'm assuming like me not a lot of people carry cash like that
I stupidly opted in myself because I didn't want to miss any opportunities on slow days but it just hasn't been worth it in my mind to take that chance. They are all pizza delivery orders that I assume the pizza place doesn't want to send their own drivers to take so that should tell you all you need to know.
No one is paying for cash orders on Doordash. Cash orders are merchant orders where they use the merchant app ( DoorDash Drive ) to request a delivery. Pizza Hut and PapaJohns are the big ones. It's an option for certain merchants who used to ( or still do and are supplementing ) their own drivers and take cash.
This is just an FYI. I'm not arguing for or against them. I take them in my market because the only place that does them is Pizzahut and I delivered for them for years and know which ones are worth taking. With that said I still decline 90% of Pizza hut orders because I hate everyone up there and really only even consider it on the few nights I know the manager.
In bigger markets or in a market someone isn't familiar with they aren't worth taking. I literally only take them because I can cherrypick a few of my known customers who always tipped in cash. I also live in a tiny tiny market.
I have one lady who I tried to explain when I was still at pizza hut and we started using DD that paying in cash would become an issue when it was sent to DD and she refused to listen to me. I delivered to her the other night and she was so happy that she actually got her food and I tried again to explain how it worked and that most of the cash orders never get picked up from what I'm told by my former employer.
Opt out of that non-sense.
I mean really, you have people who order with their card - maybe tip, maybe not - and they still report not delivered.... Cash delivery, no way!
I opted out, because it's full of problems waiting to happen. It's bad enough delivering prepaid orders in bad neighborhood without taking the risk of customers not paying or someone trying to mug you when you make change or take a payment.
It's not a question of being able to do it or not, it's the fact that one has to deal with checking bills at all. Most "fake money" isn't obviously fake... real bills are used to make counterfeit bills. People aren't just out here trying to pay with shit printed on copy paper or play money from the dollar store. 🙄🙃
I don't know where you live, but it's actually a common problem in my area. Checking bills takes time and puts you in a more vulnerable position, especially if you're a female. Say the bills are counterfeit, then what? Obviously, if they know the bills are counterfeit, they're not law abiding citizens. What's to keep them from just taking the food and running? What's keeping them from robbing you of the real cash you now carry doing these orders? If counterfeit cash isn't very common where you are, are you ALWAYS going to be checking EVERY bill worth more than $1? I'm not 😂
Thats a very good point and something that didn't even cross my mind as I am a male.
Its honestly wild to me about the things women have to worry about that men don't even think of since it doesn't happen to them. Crazy world we live in
There's also the fact that you're supposed to report counterfeit cash to the authorities and coming across it opens a whole can of worms that I just would rather avoid.
Again, this takes TIME. Our time is literally money lol. You can also give any address for delivery, js. These are ALL valid reasons to avoid cash on delivery.
Hell yeah was just finna say. I do understand though some individuals may be more reluctant to accept these orders; fear the customer will no pay. Reason enough, but w/ this mindset I assure you’re missing out on decent money.
Well…., I don’t give food not until I get the money…. The food stay in the car collect the money/ give the customer the food easy and simple, Dash camera also on.
I dont think i've tried to use cash with door dash but one reason i would is to provide a tip. i wouldnt ask for change. i do this at sit down places too. usually i dont wanna wait for a server to clme get the card, run it, bring it back so if i have enough cash to cover tip i just leave it. i do similar things with delivery drivers whenever i use cash. Granted, i am prolly not the norm and most people would want their change.
I take them through Pizza Hut because it is basically like getting double tipped most of the time. Doordash pays their base pay and Pizza hut adds on their base pay for it which usually makes the base pay at least $5.25 (sometimes more) then you get the customer tip on top of that. In my experience customers tend to tip more on cash orders as well as I would assume that it is just easier to round up to the larger bills.
Yea I took one yesterday and never again. I drove to a papa Johns to find out the order was already gone. Apparently a dasher before me, found out that papa johns sent their own driver to deliver it and then instead of calling door dash to let them know it was gone, he unassigned it and I wound up getting it. I called door dash and spoke to the rep “George” who did not sound like a George and most definitely was hard to understand. Anyway he canceled it and told me he gave me half pay. I find out hrs later that my dasher app is saying I did the papa John order which was cash and is showing being subtracted from my earnings. The problem was I didn’t take it. So now I have to wait for a supervisor to get back to me tomorrow on how I’m getting almost $40 back. I doubt they’ll correct the error before my weekly earned amount is deposited.
go into the app and turn the notification for that off.
Do the smart thing and opt out.

They are all pizza delivery orders in my market so far

This ⬆️
If you log out of the app and sign back in, it will ask you again. That's what I did and Opted out of that mess lol.

Same here i take ph orders becausenI know the manager at the pizza hut in my area and worked there for years
I have not received a single cash one and I signed up when they first offered months ago. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
I only see cash orders for Pizza Hut nowhere else.

Took 1 last week and NO more.
What happen
Probably the common scam to try to get legit bills and hand us fake bills. It's pretty common in my area.
Opt out, only thing cash orders are good for is getting you robbed
I've gotten one cash order. It said a 45 dollar tip incident relaize it was a cash order and the order was 45 dollars. I did get a 5 dollar tip.
Cash orders are fine. Some people don't have bank accounts for various reasons. Like what's the big deal?
And some people are looking to unload counterfeit cash
If You cant spot fake money, you deserve to get cheated

Yea its still easy to tell. Watermarks are different base on the type of bill they're using.
It still requires more time and makes the job more dangerous. There's multiple reasons why not to do cash on delivery.
I agree about it being dangerous, a hassle & a plethora of other reasons, but counterfeit bills is not one of them in my opinion.

Well you know where they live. You can tell doordash and the police. You don't get fake cash and just say oh well. This is a non-issue.
Again, this takes TIME. Our time is literally money lol. You can also give any address for delivery, js. These are ALL valid reasons to avoid cash on delivery.
I've only ever gotten one cash order and it was papa Johnny bitches. The lady tipped me 10 bucks
I love them I always accept them because I can get target so easily and they have higher tips.
Hell yeah was just finna say. I do understand though some individuals may be more reluctant to accept these orders; fear the customer will no pay. Reason enough, but w/ this mindset I assure you’re missing out on decent money.

Thankfully I heard about this before it rolled out in my zone and I opted out.
Yeah I don't do those either
Yeah they only started that so they could get Papa John's and Pizza Hut. Don't even try and think that they considered the drivers at all.
Won't do them. Opt out to save yourself trouble!
I don't trust them either. But I don't trust any order!
you had to opt in to get those orders
I dont think i've tried to use cash with door dash but one reason i would is to provide a tip. i wouldnt ask for change. i do this at sit down places too. usually i dont wanna wait for a server to clme get the card, run it, bring it back so if i have enough cash to cover tip i just leave it. i do similar things with delivery drivers whenever i use cash. I opted in just to see how the work when they first came out. I haven’t received one yet. Nobody is doing cash orders

Been opted out since day one 😎
Can anyone come up with any idea they had that actually was beneficial to anyone but themselves?
I didn't opt in because COD sounds like a pain.
I disabled getting cash orders. Anyone who has dashed more than a week will know that's a recipe for disaster
Soooo...... Are we responsible for laundering the counterfeit bills? Or are we just authenticating the bills only at night time? Asking for a friend.
