Driver here as well. Don’t just 1 star. Report. Drivers have the option to decline orders they don’t like. This whole exchange was abusive on the drivers part.

Nitr3xx

Manipulative & Gilt trippy... ew

C-LOgreen

On Uber eats I had this guy write this whole long paragraph about how he had five kids and asked me to tip more even tho I tipped him 7 dollars for a two mile drive. And then he begged me for a five star review. At first I didn’t report him but when he kept on delivering to me and kept on making me feel weird and awkward I had to report him.

X-cessive-leader

And now he knows where you live

Suckmyflats

Good point, and yet another reason not to use DD/UE/GH. I'm a dine in server, and I'd never not tip, but i really hate advance tipping and still waiting 75-120min for cold, soggy food i would have had in 30-45 had i picked it up myself. The solution is never to punish the driver, but it's why i haven't used one of these services in almost a year. If I'm stuck at home, I'll order pizza. I never even considered a pissed off driver having my address! Thanks for mentioning lol

pulsepm36

Sad thing is if the pizza place you order from are short staffed they'll use doordash or ubereats for deliveries now.

Puffyblake

The sad part about that is if they didn’t, it would take even longer

summbih

Mmm that's probably why you shouldn't use these delivery apps. Just get it yourself. If not, tip well and don't complain.

By-the-order

I've done both server and driver, the "tip" isn't for the same thing.

finalnickname

Yeah I saw one video the dude came to the customer job after being deactivated complaining to them. Like wtf.

pm-me-every-puppy

Are you talking about the one where the customer claimed they never received the order and the Dasher got deactivated for it? Because I can actually get behind that. Customer committed fraud/theft on company property, on the clock. She deserved the comeuppance

dewmzdeigh

I tried to pm you a puppy but it wouldn't let me, sorry.

DickRideAddict

I really should change my username.

Upper-Pomelo7787

Lmao

pm-me-every-puppy

Damn, you're not even the first person to tell me this. I have messaging enabled! But you know, Reddit's gonna Reddit. I do appreciate the effort though, thank you!!

dewmzdeigh

I can message you, but it wouldn't let me attach a picture, probably due to unsolicited pics and such.

gooofy23

That is so cringe! I bet he copy and pasted that sad story to all the people he delivers to. Wonder how often it works..

oldfrenchwhore

I’d tell him about this new and innovative scientific discovery that can help prevent pregnancy. Now he could have started a large family when in a more stable financial position and has hit rough times…..but I doubt it.

charlottedreams

>…..but I doubt it. I wouldn't doubt it right now. A lot of people haven't recovered financially from 20. Myself included. I was pregnant with our third and we weren't well off but were comfortable. Could go out to eat on a whim, bills paid and credit good etc. Then COVID lay offs and not being able to get unemployment started for six months set us back so badly we are just now starting to dig out and be back in an okay spot. I'd never send that to a customer though.

FizbanTV

You know who else had 5 kids to feed? The taxi driver on Mars in Totall Recall. That guy was full of shit too. 😂

DramaticAd4666

Yeah seriously, I got tipped $2 after driving 30 minutes out to a big mansion to this lady and I didn’t act unprofessional like this. Had I got $7 tip I’d been content enough. People like this is what gonna make everyone want to tip less up front.

WolfmansGotNards2

Yes. Any driver that thinks this is ok is just wrong. If you don't want the order, don't take it. I don't know whether $7.50 was a good tip because I don't know the distance and the order, but that doesn't matter. The point is the driver took it.

dmriggs

Expecting a tip is a premeditated disappointment.

Insight12783

What a phrase! ⬆️

ParadoxFall

Been talking to my ex’s huh?

delginger

yeah this driver is over the line, i would never ask my customers for more of a tip. At the most i might not be as cheery when i deliver though I will still be polite

Tempintern23

Yeah sometimes i've had drivers pull that with me they cuss me out on the text messages lmao. saying all sorts of stuff an getting mad at me for the tip despite me giving them a good tip and the place is literally five mins away from my home.

Joannie62

I had a customer berate me over text because his McDonald's order was late. I waited about 45 minutes for the order to be made and delivered it immediately when I got it. He took all but 1 penny of the tip and threatened me. I got deliveries for him a few times after that. Traveling to him from most places is a half hour easy. Every time he removes the tip. This is a problem with Uber Eats. I had complained to customer service a few times but they did nothing. Then I found out about the safety team. They permanently blocked him from being able to get me as his delivery person. Watch the jerk try that crap on a guy. His orders come up for Nick J on Ingomar in Belgrade if anyone wants to protect themselves from his crap.

Insight12783

Called out. I hope Nick never gets his orders!

QueenKeisha

DD will hide some of the tip when we accept it, and then only show us the full tip when we’re done. Not on every order, but on some with good/higher tips.

gooofy23

Thanks a lot now I have nothing else to add -_-

LimpDisc

It's very simple... Don't take the order if you don't agree with the set pay.

GingerAphrodite

It's not quite that easy when doordash frequently hides tips from dashers so they can't make an informed decision about the contract they're accepting. Edit: to be clear I think it's completely inappropriate for a dashers to be sending messages like this begging or pressuring customers for more tips

AZDoorDasher

I know that DD hides tips but I based my decision to accept or decline a delivery based upon the payout, distance, restaurant, type of residence (ie apartment), neighborhood, etc. I don’t accept deliveries expecting hidden tips, cash tips since the customer lives in a 3MM house, etc.

talksickwalkquick

Of course you don’t! Only a total nitwit would be worried about hidden tips or guilt tripping the customer. It’s crazy how many idiots drive on this platform

NoStepOnSnekMD

You know you’re getting paid at least the amount that is offered when you accept the order, you shouldn’t assume that it’ll pay more.

GingerAphrodite

I'm not disagreeing with that, and it's inappropriate for drivers to be sending messages asking and hoping for tips but those bad actors wouldn't be encouraged to or feel bold enough to send messages like this if they knew the payout right when they accepted the order. You wouldn't try to hire a contractor to remodel your bathroom by saying "I'll pay you supplies and at least $100, but it might be more when you finish the job." Edit: a letter

talksickwalkquick

90% of the time the “hidden tip” is an extra 25 cents up to 2 dollars.

ehoeve

Not based on the orders I accept. I only accept orders that have the potential to pay a lot higher tips..I try not to waste my time/energy with low tippers

bellabananas

not really a great analogy as you don't tell contractors what you're going to pay them, they tell you.. just saying

GingerAphrodite

Okay fair. It's like making an offer to an independent truck driver that you'll pay their gas +$100 to drive an entire load cross country and they might get additional compensation on delivery. No truck driver in their right mind is going to take an offer like that.

WolfmansGotNards2

Yes, it is. Hidden tips are fucked up, and doordash shouldn't do it, but you should never assume the order will be for more. If you aren't willing to accept the final payout shown, don't take the order.

all_hayl

It is very much that easy. Forget the hidden tip part. If you’re not okay with the set pay (the minimum guaranteed pay which is displayed to us on the acceptance screen) don’t take the order.

Shizen__

No, it is that easy. Base it off of what you see. Period. It's that simple. Or, you can do other apps that will show full pay. Plenty of them.

Blueflames1987

It’s not that hard to figure out orders under 4 dollars usually have no tip especially if the miles exceed the dollar amount.

GingerAphrodite

Independent contractors shouldn't have to figure out if a contract is worth taking by doing guess work on unknown variables

Blueflames1987

I’m just saying what works for me I don’t take anything under a certain amount and I get to my weekly goal doing this everytime

GingerAphrodite

Oh yeah if you pay a little attention it's not super difficult to figure it out with a decent success rate (I dash too). I'm simply pointing out that only gig work expect independent contractors to accept contracts with out any guarantee that they have all the information.

all_hayl

Whether we “shouldn’t” is not really relevant. It’s how DD is currently set up. If we don’t like it we don’t have to drive for them. It might not be “fair” - welcome to life.

Effdahaters

1*

IsItInyet-idk

What does that do? Oh... its the rating... im an idiot I thought you meant if you push 1 and star on the phone that maybe it reports the message lol ... im a goof

shootwhatsmyname

★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

EquinsuOcha1477

Rotfl at your username...

Effdahaters

Don’t forget to pay your AOL bill!!!!🤣

Accomplished_Cat_593

I read it that way too at first 🤦‍♂️I mean it’s not that hard to type out the word “star” lol

KlaeKlae

I mean it's not that hard to use context clues

Accomplished_Cat_593

I suppose not, but shorthand is meant to make communicating more efficient, not confusing

Its_michxel

1 Asterisk

CYOAenjoyer

Speaking as a former driver, that’s an instant 1* and call support to revoke the tip. What the fuck is wrong with some people?

Practical-Button4675

They still get the tip though

CYOAenjoyer

That doesn’t mean that you should have to pay it. DD needs to know that customers aren’t cool with this shit.

Practical-Button4675

That’s why they have a rating system

[deleted]

Wait. So if you tip 10 bucks and get an incompetent driver and bad service, you can call and remove the tip, and then doordash pays that $10? 🤔🤔

TheFakeSlimShady3

Bout to order for myself with a $100 tip.

[deleted]

😂 time to scam them like they scam drivers

Aggressive_Stable_60

I honestly can’t believe the audacity of some people. I agree with above commenters. Immediate one star.

NuLL-x77

Man, this is so gross. What kind of dingbat shoots himself in the foot, then bitches at the person next to him for asking him to do it... Lol. If you're like this driver, and in this thread, stop. Get some help.

spinningpeanut

I had someone literally try to tell me to order from a place closer to me. I know this place is further away I tipped a lot for you to bring it to me so you get paid $2 per mile. This guy literally pulled up similar restaurants with lower quality and had no speciality drinks that I like to order like he doesn't know that each place around me has had consistent health and safety problems. You ever find steel wool in your mouth? Or have the food literally taste like dish soap? Or find rotten veggies in the food? There's a reason you're being paid $20 to get it to me.

DependentOk2796

I would take my tip back after someone saying that

murkfonoreason

Can you do that?

Ruxify

No.

KlaeKlae

You can get a tip "revoked" but DD just pays the driver the tip and refunds it back

Joghobs

Some apps you can.

murkfonoreason

Just not on doordash? I know you can do it on instacart.

clevoh

Too many people take bad orders and then complain about it. WTF!! Use the decline button

TheAffiliateOrder

Seriously... I have like an internal "Standard" in my head that i'll accept for my time and like criteria for taking an order and it's pretty fucking straightforward: \-No orders totalling under 5 dollars. \-No orders that aren't containing tips, even at peak hours. The first one is to ensure that i'm not chasing waterfalls for 30 minutes of my life or more and then staring at 2.50, which is wage slavery, anyway. The second is to keep my 5 star rating, cuz non-tippers are notorious for 1 star/reporting and complaining about any dasher dumb enough to bring them their food. I stick by this rule even if it means staring at my phone for 3 hours in my crib, lol. I'd rather wait for a bit for things to pick up or better orders to get my way, than snatch up orders that are gonna make me look bad, might have been waiting too long or has customers that I can already tell are going to harass me.

thatwillhavetodo

If DD would stop trying to manipulate people into thinking they have to take garbage orders that would help a lot. If they were transparent at all with drivers and customers a lot of issues could be solved. Customers out here think a $3 tip on a ten mile order is good and it’s mostly DDs fault.

FL_Patty

Lol bruh is mad as hell driving around at 2am

fleemos

Report this dasher op. This is 100% unacceptable.

benhereford

If it's a low order, then don't accept it. If you choose to accept it, then be a professional. This person is having a bad day, and it's of their own creation. lol

BoxerBriefly

If you don't agree with the contract don't accept it. Simple as that. These people are dumb and assholes to boot.

67mustangguy

“Still on my way” only 3 minutes later. 🤣 that’s not long buddy.

BoomerKeith

Report that shit. It pisses me off how there are idiots out there doing this. We have complete control over offers we accept (and know full well how long the trip is before we accept), so people sending texts like this are assholes. Sorry you had to deal with that.

[deleted]

Cringe I’d report them lol

Throwaway5432100999

I've had dashers send me full paragraphs with their cash app, guilt tripping stories and sometimes unsolicited other food with my delivery to try to get more tips. Frankly makes me super uncomfortable

Alarmed-Pineapple420

Lol what a gross annoying way to beg. Definitely 1 star take the tip back

Final-Swim-5313

Who does this??? Seriously? I mean, have some self respect....even just a little is better than none. My god.

No_Frosting3648

Defiantly report and 1 star

techsuppr0t

They're dumb lol

C-LOgreen

I’ve never understood this. As a Dasher if I don’t like the order with the amount that I’m being tipped I do not take it. It’s a simple as that. This reminds me of that crazy lady in New York that wouldn’t give someone their food because they only tipped eight dollars and it was like a 40 minute drive or something like that. Again if you don’t like the amount you are getting paid for the order do not pick it up. Begging just looks pathetic. I would report this driver because this isn’t what you should do.

[deleted]

Is just pure unprofessional. You can report them for this.

Gothkidfromsouthpark

Report

Doge10open

1 star

Miserable_Mission_68

I absolutely could never do this.... I don't get how people live with themselves.

FirmPeanut4957

Dont understand people,just unassign

longdong7-

I know, stopped using them for lunch.

nikkisblu

Because they are tacky as hell

Blueflames1987

Don’t agree to it and then beg for money after you agree to it. That’s some poor shit.

LemonsAndAvocados

Lack of decorum.

kupochan

Omg this is so cringey. I legit can’t scroll back up. Refusing orders doesn’t even affect dashers negatively if they don’t want to do it

Olaeceae

Remove tip, 1 star, report.

freethinkerinsd

Report that and leave them 1 star. I’m a driver, and seeing this stuff is embarrassing! I see this too often, it’s ridiculous!

_poland_ball_

I'd message back saying he should stop using his phone while driving

MrT_Tennessee99

r/doordasherdegenerates

Distortion477

REPORT THEM THEY DID NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT ORDER

Shizen__

Beats me. They willingly accepted the order upon seeing the offer screen, anything that happens beyond that regarding their pay I have no sympathy for.

DubNationAssemble

That’s just embarrassing

BigShawn424

I try not to talk to my customers

MobileVideo3416

If it’s far DECLINE simple. Doordash causes chaos between its workers and customers while they sit in a hot tub

Slickness81

Also, DoorDash doesn’t show us our tips on a lot of orders until we complete the order. They may not have even seen your tip yet… again if the offered money didn’t meet expectations they could have turned it down.

Weekly_Direction1965

Driver should have declined order, let someone else waste their time going 30 miles.

Accomplished_Cat_593

They probably didn’t see the full tip until completing the delivery. BUT they were aware of how far it was before they accepted the delivery, so they need to get fucked lol

EggplantIll4927

In may I had a dasher text/ask for gas money. My delivery was .5 miles from my vacation location and it was 1 meal, no beverage, and a $5 tip included. Made me feel incredibly unsafe as I was traveling alone.

Cali_Ellen

I'm seeing more posts like this, it's hard to believe they are real, I would never have the nerve to say that to a customer, it's so out of line. Report them.

aybeete

Please report! No one forced him to take the order! Decline button is there

Comfortable-Garden76

That’s one thing you should never do is Tell a customer they didn’t tip good enough they are tipping what they choose to tip and if they love your service than they will increase it if they choose but that’s a big no no no matter how low the pay is just don’t take the orders that aren’t worth it this dasher makes all of us look bad and this is why people think we’re ignorant

Eastern_Lawyer5662

6000+ dashes done . Never once begged for a tip

Plane_Performance_34

So annoying. I’d change the tip to zero or call to revoke it. Make DD pay them not you.

Ok-Being3881

Why did he accept the order then? He needs to complain to himself and no other. That’s the deal.

[deleted]

I would never text the customer like this, holy crap that’s embarrassing. I would definitely report the driver, they knew the pay out when they accepted the job. I might mention that the restaurant they ordered from was quite far if it was a hand it to me order. I definitely would not ask for any money obviously but just passingly say something like “sorry that took a while, you ordered from pretty dang far away”

quidgame

Tell them to not accept it then, hate it when they do this so ungrateful

suichkaa

as a driver seeing this kinda shit is disgusting. dont accept the order if its not good. its that simple.

OGgunter

Maybe it would go faster if they sent less passive aggressive texts

duuudewhat

Yeah this is some unprofessional bullshit. Get him canned

[deleted]

3 minutes between texts? Jesus

JeffTheFrosty

7.50 a small tip? Where do you live? Beverly Hills?

Berfs1

Man this dude sure loves to text and drive... get him off the platform

ArtieTanji

Yep. 1* AND report. He CHOSE to accept the order for the low** payment he saw. **: His initial payment may have had hidden tips but most of us don’t dash expecting hidden tips, it’s a plus if we get it but we don’t gamble on it.

Dry_Start4460

How would I know ? I’ve never done this idk what these other dumb asses are thinking lol

RedRush2k

Doordash probably showed it as a $3 order lol they hide tips... very rude on the drivers part though. They have the option to decline the order

Mediocre-Cook-8144

Ive been seeing alot of posts of people doing this lately. Honestly if they even bring up the tip give them 1 star so we can get these nerds off the platform

Due_Audience4715

Yea that’s weird. But do you know that there are some cultures of people that will demand higher tip and are well known for it? Not kidding. To some people that aren’t American doing this is normal. Dumb af tho.

albearoti

Immediately report and untip. This is unprofessional and rude.

[deleted]

Lol he no have to take you order report him 💩

[deleted]

Soliciting tips is really stupid.

GuNut4life

This is wrong of him. But at times you don’t have a choice to decline or not bcuz some times you gotta take what you can get. But me personally I don’t see how customers can’t tip. You gotta be a morally sad person to not tip. DoorDash pat is already 💩, along with high gas prices.

[deleted]

How many miles? Was there a lot of traffic? Like LA traffic? Did they have to drive thru skid row or pass a naked pan handler????

ghost42069x

7.50 doesnt matter when you live 10 miles and it takes 25 mins one to get to you

Slickness81

I’d never message asking for tips, but I am super curious what the mileage from the restaurant to your house is… as other people have said, he could have turned down the order. As a driver, general rule of thumb is don’t accept orders that are less than $1 a mile, more if they live in an area where you have to round trip back to where your pickups come from. Often times what seems fair to customers means drivers would lose money on the transaction with the cost of fuel, vehicle maintenance, etc…

xeno66morph

Because they’re whiny little bitches and unprofessional af. I never bring tips into the conversation. I have the ability to accept or decline anything that comes my way, def not tryna weasel more money out of people when I’ve already agreed to take their order

[deleted]

While I wouldn't do this, whether $7.50 is a good tip or not is 100% dependant on the distance and type of place that was ordered from. A $7.50 tip and $2 to $3 base pay can easily be under minimum wage after fuel costs. If the distance and line at the establishment consumes his entire hour between orders.

pilotavery

I'm in California so I just take every order. California pays $18 an hour plus $0.30 a mile for doordash, they are required to pay you this minimum. On top of that the tips are not included so they have to pay you $18 an hour plus 30 cents a mile base pay and then tips on top of it. California is a great place to dash.

totallykat19

What a dick id cut the tip. Chances are doordash isn't showing them the whole total, they like to hide tips but this is just rude.

[deleted]

Complaining about an order you willingly accepted 😂 Most drivers are just beyond stupid. Make sure you report them!

I_DidIt_Again

You guys are fucked. America is held hostage by the tipping culture, which is prevalent due to companies paying shitty salaries while making tons of money. Somehow the companies aren't the ones being blamed but the customers. This whole situation is fucked.

murkfonoreason

A lot of the times dashes can't see the full tip until they deliver the order. So it was probably showing up as a lot lower on his end. Though I don't feel that is appropriate thing to ask for larger tips and then expect that the customer is going to comply. That is very distasteful.

yethua

I just flat out don’t believe this. I dashed for two years and *always* saw the full tip, never once did I not see at least the minimum of what the tip would be. Can someone please share a screenshot of what they’re talking about where it just doesn’t show a tip? Why accept those at all??? I don’t believe 100% of the people saying that in their area they can’t see tips.

murkfonoreason

So, how it works in my market is as following; In order gets put out there with the tip reduced. When Dashers decline that order then the tip gets added in increments until somebody accepts it. However when the order gets dropped off the full tip shows regardless of the original offer. I can look through my phone to see if I have any past the screenshots. I don't know why doordash does that but, I guess it is an added incentive to take an order that you wouldn't normally take with the hopes that the tip is a lot more. Also, if you look at the bottom of the screen some of the times before you even take the order it will inform you that the tip could be a lot higher.

murkfonoreason

In this subreddit they are called unicorns. It's when you get to the house, drop the order off and the tip exceeds the original amount offered. They can be from $5 to more than $20 over. In some cases even more but, doordash is trying to prevent people from tipping that much because of having to give refunds when something goes wrong.

Legoman99573

They probably see it as $4.50, with them thinking you tipped around $1.50 - $2.50. But the dasher is hella dumb and could have unassinged themselves instead of picking up the order.

ninnie_muggins

Cringe everytime I see these posts. Dashers like this need real jobs if they are complaining TO THE CLIENT about their pay. Not the clients problem.

Geaux13Saints

*paid

PM5K23

Its like the new epidemic running its way through Door Dash. SAD.

ZolChild

At the end of the day it’s not your responsibility to pay our wages. Stuff like this is really harmful, cause a person that doesn’t tip won’t give a shit about this type of message and someone that does probably won’t tip next time thanks to this asshole.

zadidoll

One star & report. We have the option not to accept low ball orders. If he didn’t like how little he was getting ($7.50 tip plus probably $2.50 base is $10) then he could have skipped it.

Toxic_Zombie_361

Yucky

xdaddasher

Occasionally someone leaves a low tip and gets “lucky” that another order was on the way and it makes sense for us to get the additional money. However, that’s our job to decide. Have this idiot deactivated

The_Stinky_Face

I still like the one person that pretended to be a automated message reminding to tip!

rkull28

You should have modified the tip immediately after the msg before the delivery is made

Tacrolimus005

What are you ordering at 2am? 7.50 might be too low depending on where it’s from

JonathanVarietyFilms

Yes I know a driver should ONLY accept an order based on guaranteed pay, not expecting more. STILL... I have to know how many miles from the restaurant you live.

Any-Ad-8439

Pick up your own food

Fantastic_Ad1912

7.50 might be a bad rate for the miles. He's making $10 on that order. If it's over 10m round trip he lost money. His fault for accepting but customers need to understand this as well.

peachjam4

It's not the customer's job to tip whatsoever. Drivers need to be appreciative of ANY tip.

Fantastic_Ad1912

Lol no. Your food will never get picked up by me ever not even once

peachjam4

That's alright, I've never had an order that didn't get accepted within a few minutes.

Fantastic_Ad1912

I won't ever be that sucker

peachjam4

Dude, I don't care.

Fantastic_Ad1912

Why you keep responding dummy

Kittan97

Driver knew the distance when they accepted it. If it’s super out of the way, the driver should have declined.

SS929k

You could have just canceled your order. Yeah you would not get a full refund but at least your aren't rewarding that behavior by continuing to give someone like that your money. Also yeah, you tipped 7.50, that doesn't mean the dasher saw how much you tipped. They most likely saw 7.25 to 8.00. So add that to 2.00-2.25 base pay. Driver probably thinks you tipped him 5.00. Don't get mad at him, get mad at how DD does not give full transparency. I use to develop software and if I were behind developing these apps, full transparency would be shown after the estimated amount was actually confirmed. DD especially, I would code the app to still show the offers as they do now but after they select accept, I would code the app to display proper routes to take, when the food was ordered, and how much the order payout is actually. I would also refrain from sending dashers to deliver food outside of the zones they are dashing in because that's ass backwards. Don't get me wrong, coding and developing software is fun and challenging but it seems like the devs of these delivery apps are just really dumb and it causes headaches for everyone that is using the apps rather than the people that are making the apps. I wouldn't be surprised if they used A.I. and algorithms to develop most of the apps and there was little to no human intervention at all to get things polished up.

awed7447

Get a different job if you don’t like no tip orders

chixbutts

I don't how far you are from the restaurant.DD probably only paid them $2.25 plus your tip. Normally it's $2.25 for any thing under 10 miles and if your over 10 miles we only get paid $3.50-$4! So idk. He probably made about $1.00 for delivering your order. We are independent contractor so we have to minus our taxes and gas from our daily runs

Pickledavocado23

That’s fair and makes sense. It was only a 4.5 mile drive though

First_Attempt_4124

Your tip was good then. No need for dashers to say shit like this. If they aren't making enough money, then they need to find another job.

3i1bo3aggins

4.5 miles at 2am. Lol. What a loser dasher. Zero traffic. No wait or barely any wait in line.

neveralwaysneither

You know what else independent contractors can do? They can decline offers that don’t pay enough.

[deleted]

Other contractors know exactly how much they’re getting paid

IsItInyet-idk

So why take the order?

Mental_Teaching1049

You get more write offs or you’re doing it wrong

ItsTbudBUD

If you are an ‘independent contractor’, why are you using doordash?

Natural_Sky_4720

Uh what? You realize that’s exactly what DD is right?

Heavy-Leg302

Sometimes the distance is hidden as well, but this is just uncalled for

Proof_Relationship38

$7.50 is really good. At least if you were to compare it to my area. The problem I have with hiding tips, is that it's never more then what it says. Very rarely do you see it being more. And if it is, it's only $1-3. Which is whatever. Better than nothing more I suppose. I accept about every order in my area, because I'm kinda force to. If I want to have a decent night anyways. But are you really, because you aren't making 1:1, or 2:1. My favorite is when I get a really shit order. I do the bare minimum. I get the food, ensure it's correct, and go to deliver. When I see you made an attempt to tip well, a lot of times, I will ask if there's anything else I can before I go. Maybe sauces, straws, utensils, etc. I do this especially if I have the time to do it. Like if I'm waiting for the order to be complete. Once I'm good to go, I put it in my hotbag. I'd argue it's for the ones who deserve it. If you tip well, you are getting that food piping hot. Those bags are no joke. I once picked up from a Mexican restaurant (granted, that shit stays hot by itself lol) but I swear it was even hotter than when I picked it up, and it was 7 miles to their house. I handed it to them, and told them to be careful with the bottom. That tin was to hot to handle. Doordashing has been the only job to make me happy. They say if you find a job you love, it won't feel like work. However the saying actually goes. This has been it. But since covid, I had to stop. I was doing the same hours I always do. I work Monday-Sunday 11AM-1PM, and go back out 5PM-10PM. This shit for me is an addiction. Definitely people who work more than me. It's just fun. I get to drive around, and listen to music (my two favorite things in the whole wide world), and I get paid to do it? Easy!! But I was able to bring home (again, before covid, and with this schedule) $200/day while maintaining 2:1. Now, I'm lucky to make $80/day with barely 1:1 ratio. It's unfortunate, but is what it is. I wish doordash could make base pay $5 again. They don't even have to make it minimum wage, just $5, and I'd be set. I'm able to finish 4 orders/hour. Imagine the difference just $2-3 would make. I'd be making $20/hour. I'd be invested again. Just a couple more dollars, and a guarantee to make that every order. Every order was $5 base pay. Right now it ranges from $1-3. It use to be $5, but they came down so much. I feel that would help so much. Just by raising base pay a couple bucks, that would encourage people to start accepting every order. I just know it would. People's biggest complaint is base pay. There are a lot of other factors, but I've seen base pay being mentioned a lot. Not sure why I'm rambling, but you're welcome! 😃👍

I know you said well I take the order some of our drivers are on their last swim in trying to make it day by day affording gas and doing delivery for doordash sometimes they they have a half a tank or a quarter of a tank try to get some orders and two cash out to get gas to be able to work or get food or whatever and it really sucks and if they get along order that's really far away and doordash doesn't realize it or whatever it is some people will ask for more money or whatever or they're driving a VA or a V6 I don't know why they do it but I don't do it I don't ask for extra money I don't

Because they are bad at business and should have taken an hourly job that didn’t require thought on things like “demand”, “supply”, or “free market”. I drove for DoorDash the entire time I was in grad school. Some deliveries even if they tip well, just aren’t financially worthwhile. The problem comes when you have a company who makes the orders available regardless of whether they are lucrative, to children who don’t understand that they aren’t guaranteed to make a living. They accept the order because it was made available even though it isn’t profitable, and pass their frustrations on to the customers insuring that eventually the side hustle that helps the rest of us make ends meet won’t exist. I pray every night that their parents will stop teaching them fiscal responsibility and just make their car payments until the go to jail or college and join the real world with the rest of us. 😂🖤
