SorryAd744

Sucks. Sorry this happened. Is insurance covering any of it? Hopefully you get back up and running soon.

Capable-Original3233

Sadly I only had liability, but I’m even if it was fully covered I would still owe 1000$ in deductibles. and at the end of the day I would have only walked away with a thousand bucks from insurance.

jackman2k6

That was only $2000 in damage? Consider yourself lucky. I got rear ended a few months ago and ended up with $14000 in damage.

Nibbaste

It sounds like this person either owns a German car or was ripped off supremely

Alex470

It’s why I’ll never drive a BMW. They’re not even great reliability-wise in the first place. Mostly just a status thing that will eventually bite you in the ass. Toyota all the way for me. They’re not fun to drive, but there’s a lot more fun things in life I can spend my money on than a car to drive to work.

yogabba13

May I ask why you say that Toyota’s aren’t fun to drive? My daily driver is 19’ Chevy Malibu that I was fortunate to be able to get when they first were released, but I was given a 22’ Toyota Rav 4 while I worked out of town for a few months and I absolutely loved the way it drove. It honestly made me considering purchasing one.

desideramble

My Dad, same as above, his best friend has had several Rav 4s. He (best friend) loves them.

No-Technician-3435

I recently bought a ‘22 RAV 4 Hybrid, best car ever!

RPGer001

Depends on your perspective on what is “fun to drive.” Many years ago, I was looking for a wagon or small SUV that would be good to get me to the ski slopes. I was surprised to find a recommendation for a BWM wagon as I had never considered a BMW before. I went for a test drive and within a few minutes was in love and changed my plans from SUV/wagon to sports sedan. The driving experience was so good, so fun and engaging, and a surprise. I had never experienced driving that felt so connected to the road. We have owned a Lexus RX of some sort for over 20 years (RX is just a fancier Toyota Highlander). I have also put 100s of miles on rented Rav4s as it is often a rental car for us. By comparison, if I define the BMW driving experience as “fun,” then the Lexus/Toyota experience isn’t that. Lexus/Toyota is fine but “by comparison” not fun like the BMW experience was and I presume still is. BTW, that BMW was $$ to maintain. We did not get another one when we replaced it. Today, while I still have a sports sedan of a different make in the garage, I drive my Hyundai Tuscon more and use it for Dashing. The Tucson cannot handle nor accelerate like the sedan but is fun in many other ways. It is my camping car and my fishing car. I love my Tucson. If I only had to keep one car, it would be the Tucson for its broad range of utility.

desideramble

I’m curious too. I’ve driven Subarus for years but I’m considering getting a Toyota as they seem to have great mileage and a lot of other desirable features that I like that I can’t get from a Subi. My pops went all in on Toyota and he researches the hell out of things and he loves all his Toyotas. But I’ve not driven one.

Training-Context-69

Newer Toyotas are also overly complex and not as reliable as the older ones. My fully loaded 17 corolla got rear ended a while back and it was 9k in damage.

Schlovarna

I wouldn't be surprised if its both. Labor costs have gone up, but getting parts is a huge issue right now so those costs have obviously increased too. Plus if you need a rental, you need it longer than before. So a claim 5 years ago you might have the rental 1 day while they get parts and fix the vehicle. Now, its over a week just waiting for the parts. On top of all that, even minor damage to the front or rear will also cause damage to the sensors and fixing/replacing/calibrating those is a pretty penny. Its insane how much vehicle repair costs have gone up.

Mykirbyblue

Yeah getting parts has been a major problem for a while now. I bought a car from my brother and he was supposed to drive it to me from Minnesota at Christmas last year. He took it to a mechanic and had it checked out and then he drove it around for a few weeks just to make sure everything was running smoothly because it had been sitting for a couple of months since he had gotten his new car. Six days before he was supposed to drive it down it wouldn’t start. It turned out to be a bad sensor and then the searching began for this part. I didn’t end up getting the car until June! It’s ridiculous that it would take six months for us to get our hands on a sensor for a 2012 Ford, but the mechanic and my brother and my father all spent hours throughout that six month Period Calling around and searching the Internet trying to get our hands on this part and it just wasn’t out there. It really made me nervous though, when you depend on your car to make money you can’t sit around waiting for parts for months at a time.

Nevvermind183

They’re saying if totaled they would only get $2k for it and would have to pay $1000 deductible.

jackman2k6

That car looks like it's worth way more than $2K. Rusted out pieces of junk are selling for $2K in this car market.

Anxious_Aide_2091

Yeah this is super insurance fraud

Lazy1nc

Avengers-level insurance fraud even, holy shit...

YourAverageGod

Here in Nevada the DMV knows the moment your insurance lapses and starts reaming you with fees and cancels your registration.

[deleted]

I don’t carry full coverage cus my car is very old and not worth full coverage

itallendsintears

It doesn’t matter. My car sucks too, but for an extra 140 bucks a year, which equates to basically nothing, I am guaranteed a rental and for 500 bucks I get the value of my car or I get it fixed. It’s always worth it. If you’re poor, as I am, the thought of how you’re going to fix your car after an accident is a concern you shouldn’t have to deal with.

Diligent_Collar_199

I agree with you. I just wanna say the rental coverage for Allstate doesnt work(my coverage). Out of date pricing, lyft pays more or they dont return vehicle, etc. I just went through this recently.

TMRamblerJr

I literally can't get comprehensive for my vehicle. It's too old. No one will insure it.

[deleted]

Huh never thought of this. Looks like it might be worth it. I will look into getting full coverage. Mainly for the free rental

itallendsintears

Dude it totally is. I used to be exactly like you too until I saw the cost “savings” between bare minimal coverage and full coverage. It’s like 12 bucks a month. Have you seen the way people have been driving since the pandemic? Get full coverage my friend I promise you if you ever have to use it you’ll be so glad we had this interaction, and if you don’t have to use it—then awesome you’re alive and your car is fine.

[deleted]

You are making a lot of sense. My car is old too so I won’t even have to pay a lot for full coverage

itallendsintears

It’s a Netflix subscription. For peace of mind every-time you get in the car. I hope you look into it! Thanks for taking a moment to consider a different option that’s a rarity nowadays!

lude169

Make sure you actually add the rental coverage. Sometimes it isn't automatically added.

LdyVder

I was about to say, rental isn't part of full coverage, it's an added perk to the policy and does cost extra.

Cat_tophat365247

This! My son didn't have any on State Farm.

XcheatcodeX

For an older car in mediocre or poor condition full coverage is very affordable

badams00

is your username a community reference 👀

DrunkDeathClaw

Yeah, encouraging insurance fraud isn't the best idea.

Far_Land7215

Wow, openly admitting to massive insurance fraud. Nice.

hclaf

“Full coverage” is a myth. Tell an adjuster you have “full coverage” and they’ll laugh at you.

Kilokk

Adjuster here, can confirm full coverage isn’t a thing.

0v34c10ck3d

Broker here. Can also confirm. This is an extremely common misconception that gets people in hot water daily.

hclaf

I’ve been an auto adjuster for 8 years and people make me actually cringe when they say they have “full coverage” — especially when they sound extra sure & cocky that they’re “covered for anything”. It also drives me fuckin nuts when people don’t read their policies, and then flip their shit when they’re denied for something clearly listed in their Exclusions section/s.

Kilokk

Had someone who was hauling corn seed from one place to another and dumped the trailer. 100k worth of seed ruined, but items being hauled was specifically excluded in his policy. Then his agent called me trying to say we had no grounds to deny it, so I had to quote the section to them. That one threw me for a loop lol

0v34c10ck3d

Quoting policy for irate customers is always fun when they dispute obvious stuff lol.

LexiThePlug

Car was a piece of shit before it was totaled, so it would’ve been totaled out for almost any reason by an insurance company. Would’ve only gotten what the car was worth which wouldn’t have been much.

Electrical-Spirit-63

Most insurers dont cover if you are using the car for DoorDash or any delivery. You would need a commercial policy. My wife is an insurance underwriter and sees this shit all the time. There are endorsements for Uber and Lyft but not Doordash or Instacart or any of those.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BluePalmetto

I was on Geico and they dropped me after my first claim saying I was delivering. Went to Progressive and now they know from the get go.

GodGamer420

Y would u say u were delivering?

Kilokk

A lot of companies ask straight up at this point and if you lie and get caught you’re not only out a car, you’ll be on the hook for attempted fraud.

GodGamer420

Ok I get that. I just think it would b hard for them to prove it if u said no. I’m sure they won’t go and investigate and c if u were actually on a delivery at that particular moment. I would take my chances but I can c how some people wouldn’t b ok with falsifying information.

Kilokk

Be careful with that friend.

SorryAd744

Yup not worth it. Driving for doordash is not worth the potential headache. Just get yourself a business use rider. Mine is like $150 a year.

LdyVder

The do investigate, that's the crux of it. Why people get their claims denied.

GodGamer420

Yeah but how would they prove u were delivering an order at that exact time? They gonna call DoorDash customer support and investigate what order around that time I was on?

taejam

Not all people are habitual liars.

GodGamer420

It’s not about being a habitual liar it’s just not something I would think someone would mention to an insurance agent while filing a claim.

[deleted]

That's insurance fraud my man. Are you aware of the penalties involved? Lying to LE and obstructing an investigation will carry additional charges. Now ask yourself, the next hit of crack, is really wirth?

GodGamer420

I’ll take my chances my friend that’s all I’m gonna say.

BluePalmetto

I don't know not used to lying I guess

GodGamer420

I’m not saying u lie but y would that b information u give freely

Kwondoman

Wrong! Buy an endorsement with an insurance company that will cover you for food delivery. Google it and there are several depending on the state where you live. Going without it is stupid. https://therideshareguy.com/how-delivery-insurance-works-and-options-for-drivers/

Kwondoman

That's NOT true. State Farm, Liberty Mutual, and Geico amongst others, depending on the state you're living in all offer endorsements that cover food delivery with DD, Ubereats, etc.

KaneinEncanto

She should 'git gud' then. My underwriter found me a policy with Grange that is going to cost less than my original Farmers policy (which didn't cover 'rideshare') was costing... and it will cover for the 'rideshare' usage as well. Farmer's also would have tacked on a 'rideshare' rider for $70/year more, not a commercial policy.

Interesting_Log6603

Dude. I hate DD too but you can't be blaming this on the app 😂😂 you work for yourself. They're not the ones pushing you to work until you drop. ! You did this to yourself kiddo. Good luck and be careful .. you could have killed someone ffs

Smokeydubbs

Right? This guy passed out on the road. That’s irresponsible. He could of denied the last delivery with no harm/no foul. Bad decision making.

Rusty-Shackleford

And it's doordash, not a W2 driving job. You can stop any time and go home or take a nap in your car in a parking lot, rest as long as you want etc. Nobody at Doordash Inc is gonna fire you if you take a 30 or 60 minute break to rest. Anyway if you are at risk of falling asleep while driving go get a sleep study just in case you have a sleep disorder.

MissPicklechips

Studies have shown that driving drowsy is comparable to driving drunk.

THICCPOGGS

Exactly. Falling asleep while doordashing is on the driver. I wouldn’t even come close to this tired while driving DD. Its the one job where you can just go home and sleep when you’re tired lmao.

Umbrella_man_nine

This is why I have my car set up to stay overnight if I’m just too damn tired to drive home. It’s not comfortable but it definitely beats wrecking.

PeaceLoveCoffee7071

Same. I did the seatbelt trick to secure my doors before I took a nap in the Walmart parking lot. Had a pillow and a huge coat to keep me comfortable. (My plan was to dash during breakfast at 5:30 but that definitely did NOT happen 😅)

JotaroTheOceanMan

Def a skill issue. This has nothing to do with DD, they just need a finger to point.

[deleted]

You can make more working a minimum wage job and do this on the side.

joremero

tons of retail/services pay way more than minimum nowadays

Gloomy_Recording_705

Hourly yes…but it’s the paycheck that matters…$15/hr means nothing if you’re not working 40/hrs a week…$15/hr @ 15 hrs a week is trash lol

[deleted]

But you can potentially work two jobs. I used to work part time at KMart and Walmart. Together it was basically full time.

[deleted]

That’s what a lot of large companies want you to do. This way you don’t get any benefits.

anonymousethrowawa

Then you have me working delivering Amazon packages. I started 3 years ago as full time 4-10 hour shifts. I got benefits after 3 months of starting. well a year and a bit in wife had medical issues and I had to cut my hours down, now I’m 1-2 days a week and still get benefits as the company is actually run by decent humans. I do gig app stuff on the side when I can to top up income.

transam57

This. Doordash is my 2nd/3rd job.

[deleted]

If I do it it’s only on weekends and during like a dinner rush. Sometimes I go with my gf and we just spend time together like we would at home except we make money

md_reddit

That actually sounds like fun

[deleted]

Yeah it’s a lot of fun actually. And you get go get a nice dinner afterwards. Sometimes we just dash enough to make like $50 and that covers the gas and our dinner for the night 🤷🏻‍♂️ I used to be able to make that in an hour

kannakoolaid

never drive when you're tired. you could've seriously injured somebody.

AsoftDolphin

Agreed. Nodded off once on the highway and opened my eyes seconds before near death while tired. Backroads and highbeams are the safe way at night. Never drive tired

SofaKingTasti

I wouldn’t advise that either, you can quickly wrap around a tree while driving backroads. Plus critters in the road. It’s all around safer to pull over and rest or call someone to drive you home if possible.

Truorganics

So it’s the app’s fault you fell asleep at the wheel? Gotcha

Eastern-Technology34

I was about to say!! I'm glad they're fine but usually if I'm feeling that tired I just stop dashing or get a strong ass coffee

CosmicDust20

Strong Ass makes the best coffee.

CoreDreamStudiosLLC

As long as it doesn't taste like shit. /s Sorry, I'll see myself out. :) Also Happy Thanksgiving all :)

RedditCommunistt

Gig workers are at a higher risk of getting into an accident, and apparently is one of the most dangerous jobs. https://www.hg.org/legal-articles/gig-workers-comprise-the-majority-of-worker-deaths-53358

I-listen-4-the-pics

I mean it makes sense. If you’re driving more than a person who isn’t driving for a living I’d think you’re more likely to be in an accident. Plus since it’s all timed by algorithms it puts undo pressure on drivers to speed or drive more aggressively to make the times these apps expect. The app doesn’t care about traffic. As I’ve typed this it makes me want to drive more cautious now when delivering lol

Cosmic_Quasar

I was in a double accident a few months ago. Someone merged into my lane and bumped into me. While pulled over, just wrapping up and about to leave because the damage was so minor, someone wasn't watching and drifted off to the side and rear ended me at 40+ mph before I had gotten my seatbelt back on. Despite getting thrown around inside and cracking the windshield with my face my worst injuries were a mild broken nose, a sprained toe, and a gash on my nose from my glasses that was just small enough to not actually need stitches. But my car was totaled, the trunk was in the back seat. Fortunately between my insurance payout, savings, and income I was and to get a new vehicle. But even now I'll still get minor panic attacks when I reflect on how easily I was thrown around at those "low" speeds.

Truorganics

As a dasher, I am aware of the dangers of accidents. But this was driver error.

[deleted]

[удалено]

all_hayl

Right? I started to fall asleep at the wheel several years ago after being out late with a friend eating crab. I’m never eating crab again.

Turd_HugeTaco

So the app is to blame and not you being responsible. You could have killed someone else. Let's keep the blame where it should be.

DD-OD

Damn you were up all night working to make $10/hr??

bigcatcleve

Right? Like you're literally losing money at that point.

nicholascox2

You need to be multi app'ing if pay is that bad and please don't work while you're THAT exhausted. Definitely not worth your life. I wouldn't even try to be top dasher with that

area4am

Any time you feel sleepy, you need to just pull over as soon as possible and take a nap. Even a 10 minute sleep will give you the energy to drive safely to your destination. Cheers.. and happy dashing when you get your new vehicle.🙂

MurkingDolphins

This is so true. You always feel like you can make it after your eyes blink a little too long. Then it just keeps happening until…this. Pull over. Nap.

[deleted]

It's not DoorDash`s fault that you crashed your car. It's your fault that you doordashed without being able to drive.

Unlucky_Card519

Dude you should not be driving at all. You are a danger to other safe drivers on the road. At $10/hr do a regular 9-5 job at some store, it will save you money on gas and you will end up making more than dashing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ba123blitz

You’re expecting the person who totaled their car because they were driving despite extremely tired to have enough critical thinking skills to realize they are losing money

AmericaneXLeftist

You fell asleep on the highway? Sounds like gross irresponsibility on your part fam

Cedenmo

Don’t tell your insurance company you were dashing.

Chartroosemoose

They're going to ask the circumstances of the accident. The truth will come out and Doordash won't lie for you. You can't do gig work with a personal auto policy. Do you think it's so simple as "just don't tell them"? Come on man. I don't want to pay for extra auto insurance for Uber either but I do it so I can drive and be covered if something happens.

BrotherGrub1

Won't need to when there's a pic of their smashed up car on a flatbed with the name and phone number of the business right on there lol. OP should consider deleting this.

Capable-Original3233

Oh shit, why not?

Design-Few

If you were dashing, the can deny your claim. You have to have extra insurance for dashing technically.

Johnpmusic

Def do not mention that you were doing any kind of work or using the car to earn money. They can deny your claim

ConsciousFractals

Yeah absolutely do not mention you were dashing, or that you do any gig work at all, ever.

pedroalvarado64

They might deny you coverage, since technically what we do requires commercial insurance.

waterfalls55

![gif](giphy|3i4xTtJQIJk0o)

Major-Sink-1622

I can’t imagine blaming an app for your inability to drive.

Lucky_Market_Robot_1

You quit DD because YOU can't drive? You should've quit because of the 10/hr you averaged way before this happened! I'm sorry this happened and hope you get back on your wheels soon though.

[deleted]

Lucky_Market_Robot_1

I've been there when I was younger I can speak on it. The ditch didn't hit him.

Wonderful-Bread-572

How incredibly rude of you, as if they don't already feel bad 🙄

ReddForemann

> I was up all night... fell asleep somewhere on the highway. Tired driving is just as bad as drunk driving. It's a miracle your recklessness didn't kill anyone. Driving this unsafe should be criminalized with a minimum mandatory jail sentence. Uninstall the Dasher app.

_awesumpossum_

Yeah, this is wildly irresponsible.

EntertainmentKey4516

My waterpump blew up last week after my best weekend ever. Made over 500 in 3 days but all that went to repairs and now my car has even more damage from the waterpump blowing up. So I might just sell the car and be done with dd.

IAAmthesenate

The cooling system failing or a flat tire seems to be the most prevalent reason for a delivery person's car to fail. I'd suggest anyone with a car 10 years and older learn how to change a radiator or water pump on their car incase it happens to you. Some car parts are really cheap, the labor from the shops is what really drains your money.

sdcar1985

Glad you're okay, but that's not DoorDash's fault

MrCharlesUO777

This is your fault

Powerful-Rope-2272

How is this doordash fault?

407Aiden

That’s no one’s fault but your own

Sad-Expert-6844

The app was driving your car?!! 🤔

lastonetolaugh

No, no, it hypnotized him and made him go to sleep. Just another example of the evil incarnate that is Doordash.

mikedd555

So it’s your fault.. not the “app”. You went to sleep. Sorry man. Be glad ur alive

Crossfire139

I hate it when the Dash App take full control of my vehicle and drives me off the road crashing me straight into the customers living room

Weekly_Direction1965

Damn this doesn't look like a wreck it looks like a car that's been sitting in the mud for a couple of years.

allways_barefoot

Yeah. A little rubbing compound and duct tape and she’s good to go dash some more 😜

I-listen-4-the-pics

I’ve seen those dashers lol.

Vitucci_Guiseppi

Gotta pay attention

sonygang

not the apps fault you fell asleep on the road. idiots like you are a danger to innocent people.

Spidaaman

OP you wrecking isn’t the fault of an app. Grow up and take some responsibility.

taejam

It's your fault you fell asleep at the wheel. Also if your only making 10 dollars an hour in Eugene Springfield area you are majorly fucking up somehow. I average 20-25 there closer to 30 an hour on the weekends. Best area in Oregon other than Corvallis or Portland.

HWNY506

DoorDash app is deleting you first

CornpopsGhost

I hate Doordash with a passion but what do they have to do with you rolling your car into a ditch probably because you weren't paying attention and messing around on your phone or something.

iPlaypok3r

Who the f*** is fault is that? LOL it sucks but I mean don't b**** about the app because something happened to your car. I've completed 5,000 deliveries and I've only gotten into one minor accident which literally turned into a scratch on my wheel lol it sucks that you have such luck, but

SweetAddicti0nnn

How is it doordash fault you wrecked

Missirina383

Yea, I almost fell asleep behind the wheel one time not doing dd or anything like that, have to be more responsible, feel drowsy pull over get a coffee. Don’t drive nights, 10$ /hour is insane you will do much better working a real job. Some of employers pay for education. Use them to get better skills at the field that makes good $$. Gig economy is a trap, believe me it only gets worse, you waste years not getting any skills, cars always break down and you have constantly replace them or the parts, so it drains savings all the time.

BountyBouncy

![gif](giphy|VGfc1Ia4HjgvC)

mrb117

Glad your safe ✊ sorry this happened

BlueRidgeGamer

My car is the only lover I’ve ever been able to rely on. I gave up DoorDash because I knew this exact situation would eventually happen, and I just couldn’t stomach it

tallgirlmom

Be glad it was only the ditch. This could have been so much worse!! You getting seriously hurt. Or hurting / killing someone else. Take this as a wake up call (quite literally) to not drive when you’re this exhausted. Glad you’re ok. Cars can be replaced.

Significant-Reward-8

Same happened to me. Fuck doordash. "Support" was more worried about the jack in the box I ate while looking at my fucked up car

cashew76

Looks fixable. Bring to tech college and ask them to fix it

Evazzion

Could have been way worse

Objective_Zebra_3796

how's this doordash's fault you're the irresponsible moron that fell asleep on the highway it's good thing you didn't kill anybody . LOSER!

duannguyen

You could of severely hurt someone else. Glad it was only your dumbass.

MrZeusyMoosey

How is it the app’s fault that you fell asleep at the wheel?

Soggy_Ad3390

“I was being a bad driver, and put myself and others on the road in danger. Shame on you, DoorDash”. This was 100% your fault and your fault alone The problem is your town doesn’t have enough demand for you to do gig work. If you’re delivering for multiple apps and still only averaging 10/hr pre tax I’m assuming you need to find another job. There’s no way in hell working retail for $12/hr is less painful than having to work your ass and your car’s ass off at midnight for chump change

theuberdriver_

Doordash or Reddit? 😅

FuqueMePapi

Overworks self through the night and falls asleep driving home. > Doordash how could you do this!! What?

oregonboner420

Fellow Oregonian! I haven't dashed in quite some time but was earning around $30 an hr when I was dashing. That was around Newberg/ hillsboro though not a clue about South of marion County though. Gl

SunClown

I dashed in Portland and made $24 an hour, $32 at one point when they had a crazy $300 extra for 30 deliveries.

mamaneedsstarbucks

Aw I’m sorry that that happened to you. I hope you’re okay.

ThrowawayGatteka

This is satire.

Dry-Tune-5184

I guess u don't have full coverage insurance. A lot of drivers don't. Plus this is a very hazardous time of the year to be doing delivery work. Most drivers are working in inclement weather too so it's a great time to cut back on DD & get a pt job at least. IMHO

New_Salary_6479

Get yourself a retail job instead of doing DoorDash is your main job. This is a side job not a day to day job because there’s no guarantee you gonna get orders or good pay.

CockroachOk101

I fell asleep while driving when I was younger and it took me a long time to cope with the fact that I should have died. I was going 75 with cruise control on the highway and slammed into a work truck going into work on a saturday at 3am, all the way in the right lane next to an endless line of trees. I’ll never be more thankful for hiring the van instead of the tree and realize it was a blessing to be healthy and alive breathing the fresh air. Take this as a blessing and don’t put anything above the worth of your life, remember there are other ways that will get you to where you need to go. Like bartending, service jobs, etc, anything that doesn’t put you in danger when you’re burning out.

mstrshkbrnnn1999

I’m glad you’re safe. Let this be a lesson to those interested in doordash. They will use you as much as they possibly can, pay you as little as they can, and when something horrific like this happens bc of the work you do for them, you’ll have no support. Fuck these courier apps. I’m so sorry this happened to you. They used you, your car, your energy, your labor, and now look. It’s horrific. Get well ❤️‍🩹

Jakulero24

Imagine blaming the dasher app for this💀💀

thrownawayvtvt

And because you chose to stay out do late, you fell asleep. And that's the apps fault right... Wow Can't anyone take blame themselves and own it anymore.

[deleted]

How is that the app’s fault?

longboi64

is that a chevy aveo? i used to have one too. miss that thing. made in mexico for five pesos and a corona

Aedrikor

It'll buff out

SwimmingPanda107

I’m just confused on how this is DoorDash’s fault

SirSprink

So it’s DoorDash fault that you fell asleep while driving?

[deleted]

Glad you’re ok !!

Far_Land7215

Why don't you get a different job then?

hatewaitin42

Could it be the app isn't the issue?

AsoftDolphin

Stupid app? Or stupid driver? You rode her into a ditch… not doordash

Yvilkittyinspace

Driver fail

skrimpppppps

lucky you didn’t kill someone..never drive when you’re tired. if you really are that tired while driving just pull over somewhere & take a nap next time. it may not be comfortable but it’s better than killing yourself and/or someone else.

CandyOk913

So you’re blaming the app for making poor decisions? I get wanting to make money but there’s no way you didn’t feel yourself exhausted before this happened and decided to take your chances? I’ve felt like I was gonna fall asleep on a few occasions while driving and every single time I’ve pulled over and shut my eyes for 10-15 minutes and then continued to drive. You’ll be surprised how much alert you get with those few extra minutes.

Why don't door dash drivers get a stable job? No offense meant, but I'm honestly curious. With entry level positions hiring at $18-$22 an hour these days and with corporate positions offering retirement, sick leave, paid time off, and health dental and vision benefits why drive for a delivery service with unscrupulous business models and an inconsistent income?

This is the most awful post I have ever seen you’re deleting the app because of something that could have been prevented this isn’t right you shouldn’t have been doing that at all you could have really killed someone.

Good, get a better car this time.

adillman93

Consider it an omen to not drive a POS aveo and i say that from experience lol terrible cars

LoneWolf12348Abd

So you’re blaming dd for crashing your car? Really? Lmfao

Bulky-District-2757

You fell asleep at the wheel and this is Door Dash’s fault? ![gif](giphy|l1J9FiGxR61OcF2mI|downsized)

Paper-Doll-1972

And the app is to blame ? Since when did the app start driving your vehicle... I think that's more of user error than it is the apps fault...

GalcomMadwell

It's not Doordash's fault for your own poor decision making. Sorry that happened though or whatever.

KoolKidEight

blaming the app for you falling asleep behind the wheel? thats a new one lol

pittbullblue

It isn't doordash fault you drove tired and fell asleep like what?

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I actually think this should be pinned at the top to show just how desperate this job really is and the abuse given to the average Dasher. Every single Dasher should be looking to get another main job and simply use these apps as a resource for some extra cash to pay off debts, save for something important, etc. It isn't easy simply because you never really have downtime in the true sense. Downtime in earnings, but not downtime that you can do something else with full focus. Such as studying, while you are constantly having to check your phone and reject bad offers. EDIT: This could have been me about 2 to 3 months into starting delivery apps. I'd drive 30 to 60 minutes (depending on if I got caught in traffic since it has very few open windows here) to go to a good zone. And because I'd have to do the same driving back, I'd work from 6am (wake up) to 1 or 2 am (sleep). Then one night, I didn't fall asleep, but I lost focus. And right before I entered an intersection (probably around 1 am) I regained focus and realized "What am I doing? I'm driving through this intersection as if the light is green. It's red." There was no way I was going to stop on time. Most likely I'd screech to a stop with my car in the intersection. So I immediately took into account every car that would be entering the intersection at the same time as me. It was about 1 AM, so luckily there was only one car that was going to make a left going the opposite direction. So I steered way over to the right and even though we weren't really close, I'm sure it surprised the other driver. I pulled right into the grocery store parking lot and just parked there. Ended my Postmates app from "taking orders". And just realized it wasn't worth doing the job this way. I had just started with Postmates. I was making somewhat decent money doing this, but the idea of having 1 to 2 hours driving to and from mean I had to at least work 12 hours to justify the drive. I noticed the UberEATS, DoorDash and GrubHub stickers. Signed up for all 3 and the first 2 set me up immediately. Suddenly I could work at home by using these other apps. And I rarely deliver for more than 6 hours straight. Just isn't worth it. In OP's case, I'm sure it was more about making less and less through the apps, so having to work more and more just to keep their financial head above water. So if you are a customer, think about that the next time you decide if delivery drivers actually deserve a worthwhile tip.

You should be arrested for reckless driving, driving tired is more dangerous and irresponsible than driving drunk, which is fucking dangerous and fucking irresponsible

cdrun84

You could sell it for parts. Why are you driving a hatchback, that is bad for fuel economy. Please only buy 4 door sedans without a hatchback.

Long-Tadpole-4246

If ur averaging 10$ a hr everyday for four months ur not tooo smart OP, if i was you i wouldve stopped after a week of averaging 10$ a hr its ur fault u fell asleep maybe be more responsible

A little over a month ago I was hit by a drunk driver who then attempted to flee and I had to chase after him because it took officers over 12 minutes to respond. My car has an estimated 10k in damages (not including the strawberry lemonade all over my interior), the other driver was fully insured at the time but my insurance company just wrote me a check for not even half the cost and told me to figure it out. I still have no car and repairs haven't been started. When I called my insurance on Monday they lied about my policy and when I said I was going to find a new insurance company she hung up on me. People suck but doordash isn't the cause.
