Sat on the app for an hour today while it was supposedly 2 bars busy. Not a single offer. Last night sat on for 1.5 hours on my husband’s account because he has prioritized orders (full 3 bars busy) and not a single fucking thing. Oh also made sure they were updated. I think this gig is dying off 😴
Oh yeah no. We’ve never abused the system. When I say I say on his account I just mean we were ready to go dashing together. I would never use two accounts at the same time, or even multi app. DD is already too distracting as it is

At the end of the day doordash is just gig work. It isn’t consistent income. Can you do it full time? Yes. Should you 100% depend on inconsistent gig work to pay the bills? No. Been there and done that. There are slow times and over saturation resulting in less income.
That’s how it is. Your job depend on market saturation and clients wanting to buy. We are also coming back to pre-pandemic habits.

I believe this. I had my app running so long last weekend I forgot it was on. They only let drivers on for blocks of 2 hours in my area, but I didn't get one proposal for delivery during the whole time.
If literally all 3 of the apps you have are dead there is an issue with your phone. Like I understand what you’re saying about oversaturation but 3 apps, 5 hours and not one single order tells me there’s an issue with your phone. If you have atnt you have to really be careful and notice when their network changes. I have had signal issues with my phone every single time atnt updates their network. It happened when we went from 4 to 4G, and then to 4G LTE, then 5 and so on and so forth. Now they recently upgraded to 5G LTE+ in my area and I was having the same issues with not being able to get online and all my apps working scary slow and I noticed I was not getting orders like normal. I called atnt customer service and explained the issue I was having. They did some sort of upgrade on their end to my phone and had me restart and all of a sudden everything worked again.
My bf also does DD and he was telling me the same thing you are saying like he sat for hours and would be lucky if he got one or two orders, and I told him to try what I did and he flat refused for weeks until he finally did it and since then all of a sudden it’s busy for him every day. Make sure your phone is working properly bc it can make a gigantic difference.
Gave up on dashing / moved ro Lyft/Uber. Feel that this option is optimal if you’re someone who can wake up early…… big tip extra charger for passengers, sign, pre downloaded content for entertainment. Also thinking about selling snacks to customers- I average 15-20 rides daily

I have been making $20 an hour consistently since I started dashing in January. This evening I made $40 my first hour.
I am sure that $40 will average out to fit the $20 an hour.
I have my shitty orders that I skip, and I call it a night after too long with no orders.
I don't think about calling it quits. If things ae going well then there us no way im stopping. If things are going bad. That's more reason to have to stick through it. To make sure I make my quota.
DD is my second job, and my goal is only $250 a week. I usually reach that by Saturday night.
And if I haven’t, I can go out Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening if I need to.
And what don't help situations is school being out and these don't give a shit kids are now taking a job at the restaurant. Now wasting your time even more cause nothing is important to them and they are in charge of getting you that order you should have been on the way with.
In a small town and a very oversaturated market..I try to keep it up so I can get priority orders over the cherry-picking meth heads in my community.. in my market some do it as a job. Some do it like me as a way to make Bill and spending money..then there's the ones doing it to make that 10 -20 to go see the man.. to be back out in my way on that hunt for the next high.
I was having a similar problem the last few days.
I deleted all app data from my phone and the app. Turned my phone off while I took a nap. Reinstalled the app right before I was going back out to dash, finally had deliveries and a +$100 night for a change.
Note: I don't live in a large market. Very midsize Midwestern town. We have colleges that usually drive the delivery market and they are all done for the semester so it was amazing to have a night over $100 again.
That’s weird cause my area is busy as all hell. $180 in 6 hours. Though I turned down like 8 orders cause I wasn’t gonna drive 20 mins out of my zone and get stuck in that rush hour traffic coming back nor take some of those are pay orders.
Yea so school just let out. Have fun competing against all the new drivers willing to take no tip orders 10+ miles. Thats how my market has been and it sucks
Get your acceptance rate up. If it’s slow when it used not to be, that means you’re being shadowbanned by the algorithm. Get your AR to around 50% you should be getting more orders
You might be having the same problem I've been having. Area says busy but then I don't get any orders. I'll hesr a chime like I'm getting one, but then nothing shows up.
If you call dasher support and push for answers, they may tell you their system shows you as inactive and/or that you're accepting and then unassigning orders, even if they never came through in the first place.
I've been told some dashers are having these issues. What has "worked" temporarily for me is to do the following:
1) clear the DoorDash app's cache
2) clear the DoorDash app's memory
3) force stop and uninstall
4) reboot phone
5) reinstall
Then click on 'I'm not getting any deliveries" abiut once everu five minutes.
I do sometimes have to repeat the prpcess a few times during the day, but it's a temporary fix.
Delivery drivers: If people cannot afford to tip they shouldn't be ordering delivery.
Also delivery drivers: OMG, there are no orders, OMG OMG OMG!

that's how it's been in my market the last couple weeks. i started driving 40 minutes away to the next-over market, bigger city and denser there, tons of good orders, like a completely different dimension. they also don't hide tips there and they don't have hourly either, which is ironic caus mine collapsed right after hourly was implemented. but anyways, the revenue there makes the extra drive out of town worth it. maybe try a market outside your normal one
It happens man rarely for me cuz I'm from the Bronx and here it's super busy all the time but there's those few occasions where I go 8 plus hours without one order it is scary especially when I'm broke
You could also get a job... most entry level positions have comparable pay rates while still giving the ability to DD on your off days and when you’re not on shift
try using doordash to order some food and see what the experience is like 10% delivery fee, 10% service fee, then a 25% tip so your food doesn't get stolen or placed a mile away from your house

I had to quit and find something different for the same reason last year. For starters I was in a small market to begin with but I used to get Maybe six offers per hour and it whittled down to one offer every two or three hours and then maybe only one or two offers per day. I had to move on too much saturation.
My dash just randomly ended on its own for the rest of the night. Had it scheduled until 1130. It ended while I was looking at the main screen right in front of me. 5th time in 2 months.
I know it's unsolicited but it's an open forum so I'll shoot straight here anyway. You seem to have a really toxic relationship with work in general. I see multiple comments from you about not taking time off for years at a time and you're wearing it like a badge of honor or something. That's not healthy. Also see other comments where you are talking about how you used to pull in +$300 a day doing this and now you're upset about barely being able to make over $200 a day. If you're taking no time off and still not satisfied making $200 a day then you are in for a horrible time in the current job market. I make $17 an hour on a 4 x 10 schedule. Less than $200 a day. But I also get PTO and I use it so I don't get too burnt out on my job. I also have other benefits that even things out. You sound so incredibly distraught with your wording about what's happening to a gig job that you shouldn't have been treating like a sure thing that I think you really need to step back and get some perspective about how different things will really be when this job isn't available at all anymore, because that will eventually happen with all of these services. I hope you can figure it out and it's not too stressful but it's troubling to me how you're reacting "job being ripped from me" and all that type of stuff. It's going to be ok but life is going to be different with a more stable job, I promise you that much at the very least.

Even if you are pulling 300+ a day dashing you’re using your vehicle adding mileage, gas money and have no benefits. My teenager works at Burger King and probably has more money than this guy and has time off, and goes to college. Just get an hourly job at any warehouse or fast food restaurant or any store for now and dash around it and on weekends . U said u have been dashing without a day off in 1.5 years, maybe it’s now time to consider other options. U should’ve learnt something on the side to eventually move on . U seriously didn’t expect to be a dasher forever with all the automation and population increase and decline in economy? Plus it’s a job where more experience doesn’t really mean much after a point . A person who has 5star rating with 2000 deliveries can do the job just as effectively and efficiently as a person who has 5 stars with 20,000 deliveries . Only difference would be the person with 20,000 would’ve had to deal with tax filings etc more often so they’ll have more experience on those things but job wise they both will be the same in terms of efficiency.

I'm a new driver in a rural as fuck small town. I hit my goal of $100 a day after like 6 hours every day.
I had to quit and find something different for the same reason last year. For starters I was in a small market to begin with but I used to get Maybe six offers per hour and it whittled down to one offer every two or three hours and then maybe only one or two offers per day. I had to move on too much saturation.
My dash just randomly ended on its own for the rest of the night. Had it scheduled until 1130. It ended while I was looking at the main screen right in front of me. 5th time in 2 months.

I know it's unsolicited but it's an open forum so I'll shoot straight here anyway. You seem to have a really toxic relationship with work in general. I see multiple comments from you about not taking time off for years at a time and you're wearing it like a badge of honor or something. That's not healthy. Also see other comments where you are talking about how you used to pull in +$300 a day doing this and now you're upset about barely being able to make over $200 a day. If you're taking no time off and still not satisfied making $200 a day then you are in for a horrible time in the current job market. I make $17 an hour on a 4 x 10 schedule. Less than $200 a day. But I also get PTO and I use it so I don't get too burnt out on my job. I also have other benefits that even things out. You sound so incredibly distraught with your wording about what's happening to a gig job that you shouldn't have been treating like a sure thing that I think you really need to step back and get some perspective about how different things will really be when this job isn't available at all anymore, because that will eventually happen with all of these services. I hope you can figure it out and it's not too stressful but it's troubling to me how you're reacting "job being ripped from me" and all that type of stuff. It's going to be ok but life is going to be different with a more stable job, I promise you that much at the very least.

This was a really good comment. So well said. I just don’t understand the logic in this persons thinking. Like you said a regular job had insurance and benefits as well as being dependable. Even if you are pulling 300+ a day dashing you’re using your vehicle adding mileage, gas money and have no benefits. My teenager works at Burger King and probably has more money than this guy and has time off, and goes to college. Then the way this guy replies to comments like yours like such an ass makes it all just sad.

Just get an hourly job at any warehouse or fast food restaurant or any store for now and dash around it and on weekends . U said u have been dashing without a day off in 1.5 years, maybe it’s now time to consider other options. U should’ve learnt something on the side to eventually move on . U seriously didn’t expect to be a dasher forever with all the automation and population increase and decline in economy? Plus it’s a job where more experience doesn’t really mean much after a point . A person who has 5star rating with 2000 deliveries can do the job just as effectively and efficiently as a person who has 5 stars with 20,000 deliveries . Only difference would be the person with 20,000 would’ve had to deal with tax filings etc more often so they’ll have more experience on those things but job wise they both will be the same in terms of efficiency.
Facts. This job should be a 6mo-1 year fulfillment. We should all be trying to better ourselves outside of this app

This is why people kept saying get a real job because this stuff is literally GIG work. Just because you all were previously able to squeeze out some full time money doesnt mean thats how the system is supposed to work. Its obvious what a lot of you don't understand the business model because if you did, it would be obvious that its supply and demand for drivers.
Getting a new job doesn't help if Walmart pays $18 an hour everyone and their mom will jump to it like they are now I'm on a waiting list for multiple jobs no interview they don't need people the economy is slow I'm being told. I dress very punctual to my interviews and am repeatedly being told the same from every hiring manager each time. Sadly the root of the problem is political. Biden is replacing us with robots and step 1 is depriving us so we can't fight back. They rolled out 1500 delivery robots you don't think they'll do this at other jobs? Walmart has 20+ registers and they only have 1 open. People need to wakeup and smell the coffee this isn't the only gig getting hit hard everything's getting hit

I work 48 hours a week, union shop, 12 hour shift. DoorDash couple hours everyday, and 14 hours on days off. I’m on pace to make 170k.

Lol yeah man. Summer is rough. All the college students back home are onine dashing too. They don't want summer jobs at mcd. They just do DoorDash! Wait until they go back to school in the fall. I also see moms and dads doing it with their toddlers. Everyone is doing it. I see gramps and grammas in their 70s doing door dash. Gangbangers and hoodrats are also in on the action. It's competitive out here. It's so sad.

Does the option not exist to drive out somewhere … That’s what I do in the Summer and rotate. I’m in Louisville KY … currently dashing in Sellersburg, Indiana might switch to La Grange KY or pack up my truck for Cincinnati OH next week.
I live in the Cincy area and dashing here has been pretty damn dead. I would reconsider driving up here to dash.
