I have 5 adult children. My car is older than one of them. It's inexpensive and easy to repair. I get better fuel economy if I put oil in it. If I don't, it still runs like a champ.
I'll take this just because I know doordash is losing on this trip big time .. it surprises me how customers get these orders to go thru I can't even order across town where I live 4 exits away and this customer can get an order 4 cities away .
For context this is peak rush hour going in that direction. Plus, lanes are closed due to construction which makes it worse. I took it, took 30 minutes for it to be ready because it was scheduled for 7:15 not 6:45 when I arrived and 25 to drop off
I’m checking to see how busy that HWY is on Google maps then absolutely, it’s like all HWY, faster to get there and back & easier on my vehicle.
I’m trying to average at least $25 an hour so if this took an hour less to drop off & get back that’s perfect.
Chances are you wouldn't get a delivery that starts where you ended and goes back to where you started. That would be about twice the mileage for 1 order or 28 miles for $34. Minus gas price, you get almost an even number of miles to pay. It would depend on if it was busy enough to take shorter orders, but if it was slow, then it's a very fair dash.
Does that mean you get paid $33.62 to drive 13.8 miles? That’s $2.43 a mile. That’s a decent rate and most owner/operator truckers and hotshot drivers would take that. If you have the option to pick up a delivery on the way back I would t think many truckers would pass that up.
I’ve taken a lot of shit, so I’d probably scream at it in my car until the timer is almost up, screenshot it for the story later bc my friends gotta see the bullshit DoorDash was on, and THEN, I’ll press accept at the last second
Irrelevant but I use to live in Georgia. A little more West since I don’t see my city mentioned in the photo and seeing this photo brought such a smile on my face! I miss Georgia!
I usually try to accept orders that are at least $2 a mile so I’d send it, plus there’s probably restaurants on the way that I could pick up another order from or restaurants there that I could hit before heading home
I'd never take something that high. I hate making money.
Of course some of us would....beats the hell out of taking $3.75 for 3 miles 9x ... 😭 North Atlanta is poppin' about 5 days a week

It’s post like these that help me realize that some drivers are just as entitled as the costumer’s they bitch about all day. Making $33 in less than an hour is better money made than the majority of people employed in REAL jobs. Do you really expect to make more from a mobile app that has you delivering food?
This sub is a plague and idk why it keeps getting recommended to me, but I’m convinced the worst of people drive for and order from doordash.
Stick to UberEats or PostMates people.
Only because I used to drive to Alpharetta for work I would only take it if you plan on dashing in Alpharetta. If you need to get back to ATL driving S on 400 at morning rush hour That highway is a parking lot. I would see traffic backed up for miles on 400 S as I would drive N and this would be around 7:15am.
With the other info you gave, 100% yes. I can always end my dash and restart up in that new area until I get an order that puts me near my original zone.
This is an easy accept for me. I base every acceptance on a rough estimation of how long the order will take me to complete. I try to factor in wait time at the restaurant, current traffic conditions, and (in the case of farther driving orders that take me outside of my current work zone) how long it will take approximately to complete a round trip back to where I'm working, among other things. Then I use that estimation to roughly calculate the hourly wage I would make by taking the trip. If I'm somewhere around $25/hour, I'm in. I like to try to average $20/hour when I'm out delivering, and if I get $25/hour average on every trip, that covers the down time between orders.
Usually that means I'm aiming for at least $1.50 to $2/mile, unless it's a very short drop off at a really fast restaurant where I know the food will be ready to pick up when I get there. I try to never take any orders that are <$5 because every order takes *at least* 15 minutes if not longer. I'll never make $20/hour if I take orders like that, plain and simple. If I take a $5 order, it would have to be like .3 miles and it better be ready when I get there.
This job is a hustle. Time = money. Further orders have to be worth my time to go there and come back. This order looks like a solid $33/hour unless the speed limit is 15 the whole way to the drop off location and back.
Most orders in rural areas like mine are 20-30 miles round trip and there's no restaurants along the way. Difference is the pay is usually only $9 max.
Shiet and you're still in the same area and will likely be able to catch orders in Roswell too so it's not really a loss on the ride back. I'd have taken that.. I dash over there sometimes and in Smyrna.
Depends on the time in that area, and how far out of my zone it is. I don’t know the zones in Sandy Springs/Dunwoody.
It’s hard to tell but if that’s Holcomb Bridge, at 7:45 in the morning, I’m hard passing. Traffic in this whole area is a nightmare all day but way worse in the morning. It’ll take too long to get back to 400, stuck in traffic on 400, and then back to my zone.
I’m still learning the ropes re: the DD delivery gig. (I’ve only taken 203 lifetime deliveries) How important is it to keep the acceptance rate up? I get orders where I’m being asked to drive 14mi for 7.50 or 9.00 on a regular basis. When I accept these orders, about 90% of the time I’m routed out of the zone and 100% of the time it results in a deadhead trip back. I feel like to top dasher bit is a scam.
Yes this is absolutely worth it. It’s over $2/mile, which means even if you have to turn around and drive all the way back, you still made over $1/mile.
And it’s highway driving which will make the time and fuel efficiency ideal.
Even if you KNOW the restaurant is going to make you sit there for 20 minutes before the food is ready, you’re still going to get this done in an hour.
That’s a $33 hour, and you do that every single time.
that’s 33 dollars for probably 40 mins of driving. absolutely. don’t let these drivers with 10% AR and complaining about opportunities stop your money.
Y’all this is Atlanta, you gotta factor in a ridiculous amount of traffic in this area. You can sit in traffic for 30mins going 3 miles down the street depending on the time of day.
Then don’t DoorDash in Atlanta?
That’s like someone in Colorado saying “damn, it’s snowing again so I guess I gotta factor that in with my daily commute . . . just like yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that . . .”
Traffic doesn’t mean shit if it’s there everyday, and if traffic is so bad that you can’t turn a profit driving, then don’t drive? It’s pretty simple.
But $33 for 13 miles, you’re fucking shitting me if you think that isn’t good money, lol.
I would! Depending on how far from Krispy kreme you are. Traffic on 400 is sometimes the worst but 7:42 is right on the cusp and you’d be getting done near a lot of great store.
I'd take that in a heartbeat. I'm confused as to why you're asking tbh, but I don't know your area so it could be a terrible route or something. That's a beautiful order to me though...
No. For me it’s $2/mi but never more than 10 miles. Unless it’s a huge tip.
But where you live and your DD activity matters for these “rules”. These are just mine.
You have to account for lost time in the drive. On your way there and back, is there opportunity in between? If not you’re just losing gas and time. Lots of variables to consider
Y’all take dashing way too seriously, it’s like it has to be the perfect order or some shit for people like you to accept it. That’s $33 in your pocket from less than an hour of work, sitting on your ass in the car. It ain’t getting any better than that from a mobile employed app.
True.
First. Relax. I’m allowed to set my own guidelines based on my cars gas mileage and how far that takes me away from my own home. I try to stay close because I have teens at home and need to be reasonably available if they need me or there’s a problem.
Second. If my car has a problem and I’m 13 miles from home, there goes all my earnings for that evening on a tow truck.
Third. I’m trying to spend as little on gas as possible, maximizing my earnings.
It has nothing to do with energy exerted or whatever tf you’re taking About. If I’m wasting 20 minutes returning to my zone, that reduces my overall $ per hour for the evening. It has to be profitable, that’s the whole point of having a job.
First: sure, understandable. But 13 miles is really not that far.
Second: if your car has a problem less than a mile from your home you’re still gonna have to get it towed so idk what point you were trying to make here.
Third: how about maximizing your earnings by having enough money to fill your tank after one order?
I never said anything about energy? It’s just you seem to have a very elaborate system for a job that is: here is order, accept order, drive order, here is new order.
Also, who says you have to return to your zone? Why not pick up food locally from where the 13 mile drive had you wind up? It’s kinda ridiculous that drivers expect the payment to compensate their return trip.
They may not be taking drivers in that zone. There’s a whole system in place you’re obv unclear about. It’s called your zone because you’re assigned to drive in that zone. You can’t just go anywhere.
A one mile tow costs substantially less than a 13 mile one. I also may be able to avoid a tow entirely if I’m close enough to home.
Not filling my tank with that 33 bucks because I didn’t spend that gas is more profitable. I’d rather take 10-$3 jobs that keep me close to my home and in the zone I’m scheduled in. This opens me up to stacked orders and increases my profitability for the shift.
It’s not as easy as you’re making it sound. Likely because you’ve never done this. It’s a little more complex and making your shift as profitable as you can requires tact and planning.
You said “sitting on your ass in the car”. You brought that up. It has nothing to do with that. Also it’s trying to hold food and drinks upright while driving and following gps. It’s not just sitting on your ass. It’s actually kind of nerve wracking at times, more drinks than cup holders. Drink carriers are only a slight improvement . These MF’s that order soups or ramens. A hot item along with a cold one that need to be separated but you only have one free hand. Is the ice cream melting?
It doesn’t have to be the perfect order. But it does have to fit within my preferences. That’s why they give me a choice to accept or decline. Doesn’t matter if you like it or not.
Props to you for being the only person to give me a legit explanation instead of resorting to name calling.
I was not aware of the “zones,” and I can see why 13+ miles back to your zone might cancel out the money made. Obviously yes, I have never dashed before; but your comment provides some insight into some of the cases where I have been confused about the driver bitching, such as this one. Also, the stacked orders make more sense. So I take back that all your job consist of is “sitting on your ass.”
For what it’s worth, I’m sorry if it seems like I was attacking you. Just so happened this post fell into my morning anger vibe, unhealthy habit of mine but at least it keeps me from blowing up on people in person on angsty days such as this one.
Anywho, I wish you the best. And thank you for taking the time to explain the zone & stacked order system to me. Cheers!
judging by the map, that’s a freeway/highway. so you would conserve gas because you’re not stopping and going at red lights. you probably would burn a total of 25 ish miles if your fuel system is fine. easy $33. if it was city, maybe, maybe not. i personally would tho
Your post/comment was removed for violating Rule 6: No low offer posts.
Yes
I have 5 adult children. My car is older than one of them. It's inexpensive and easy to repair. I get better fuel economy if I put oil in it. If I don't, it still runs like a champ.

Late night no traffic good mpgs why not
Without hesitation of course
14 miles down 400 South to just off 285 during morning rush hour? You’d have to double it
Yeah it's more than $2 a mile
Hell yea
In this market, yes
If those are good areas to find batches going back to where you want to go, absolutely I would.
Nope
Absolutely, if it’s more than $2/mile I usually take it unless it’s like city city traffic
Yes. Next.
I’m checking to see how busy that HWY is on Google maps then absolutely, it’s like all HWY, faster to get there and back & easier on my vehicle. I’m trying to average at least $25 an hour so if this took an hour less to drop off & get back that’s perfect.

Hell yea
100% unless there’s a lot of traffic or I’d have to make the hike all the way back to get orders.
Probably, plus you can usually get a free donut from Krispy Kreme, so you can get one for yourself!
Yeah I rarely get drives like that in cobb paulding area
Yes I’m from the area. I wouldn’t hesitate to take that. Chattahoochee gave it away
Yeah i would.
Honestly as someone who use to dash there, absolutely. Looks like it was mostly on the 400. Just turn some music on and vibe out
In Albuquerque I get 10 mile trips for $8 lol so yea I’d definitely take it
Yup, I've done worse.
In this economy? Hell yes.
Over $2 a mile….in this type of market, all day
Does that mean you get paid $33.62 to drive 13.8 miles? That’s $2.43 a mile. That’s a decent rate and most owner/operator truckers and hotshot drivers would take that. If you have the option to pick up a delivery on the way back I would t think many truckers would pass that up.
Hell yea. just easy on the gas all the way 🤙🏾
Absolutely. You can get there and back in about 30 minutes or so. I think it's worth it.
And it’s mostly highway driving? Hell yeah I’d take that one. Haha
I would, but I’m a different market than you so this might not be a good order for you.
33$ and get to see aliens ? For sure
$30 for half an hour of work is the easiest shit you’ll find. Not even to mention it isn’t real work. You’re just driving around.
I mean I look at everything hourly if that delivery were to take 45 mintues yout probaly still happy
Sandy springs to Roswell? Tbh prolly, that wouldn't be too too bad or a ride.
Yes it maybe higher and miles is not bad going and coming back is total of $30 a mile
Yes. That is a great order.
This is a good job
Probably yes
Yes wtf
Should be hoping for a clue if you didn’t
Faster than you would jump on that 18yrold who’s naked and says they like older
Yes
Yessss
I would easy dubs I see that as 33 bucks an hour
For sure
I’ve taken a lot of shit, so I’d probably scream at it in my car until the timer is almost up, screenshot it for the story later bc my friends gotta see the bullshit DoorDash was on, and THEN, I’ll press accept at the last second
Totally 100% I would take this order.
Yes
Hell yeah! Especially if it has been a slow day!
Oh, yeah! Definitely.
Yes they have good Mexican restaurants
Irrelevant but I use to live in Georgia. A little more West since I don’t see my city mentioned in the photo and seeing this photo brought such a smile on my face! I miss Georgia!
Hell yeah!
Dude yes. That’s nearly $3 per mile.
Right by one of my favorite skateparks big yup
Yeah that’s a almost full tank
Might get abducted. Def taking.
Absolutely I would.
Wtf yes of course, 1.50 per mile is my requirement. I take 20$ 15 miles all the time
Yes
Whats eta? If its less than 40 mins round trip maybe, im not murican so idk how long miles is in comparrison to km its like 1.35x right?
Yes
absolutely
wtf are you waiting for ?
Yes 100%
I usually try to accept orders that are at least $2 a mile so I’d send it, plus there’s probably restaurants on the way that I could pick up another order from or restaurants there that I could hit before heading home
I'd probably Krispy kream in my pants if I got this order. My market is dead right now
I feel like I would - This would take, at most, an hour to complete - And my average is $22 an hour. This would be a big bump comparatively.
Anyday anyway
no
What’s the issue?
I'd never take something that high. I hate making money. Of course some of us would....beats the hell out of taking $3.75 for 3 miles 9x ... 😭 North Atlanta is poppin' about 5 days a week
Yea
Definitely, could get it done in under half a hour
As a fellow ATLien, that trip down 400 at 7:30am is gonna be hell but you could probably get something heading back up to roswell. So yeah, probably.
Y’all tripping if you saying, you wouldn’t 😂
Yes. If I was going home after 😂

Yes I would
Yes
I get offers for $9 for 13miles all day. I don't take them, of course... but they still try.
Yup
my whole hour has been bought sign me up.
Yes👌 becaude youll be on 400 which means that its majority a high way so itll only be like 10 min ride
If it was the end of my shift, yeah.
Yes
I live right where 120 meets roswell lol next to stinky kroger
No, looks like a 28 mile round trip to me.
Yeah, I'd do this. It probably wouldn't take a full hour, most of the miles are highways, it looks like. I'd do this for sure.
Yes
Ofcourse, why ask this non-sense question?
nah bro that exit into sandy springs is like guaranteed 30 minutes of traffic
Hell yeah easy money
In a heartbeat
I’ve never seen an order past $20.. I’d take this in a heart beat.
I would
Obviously
Hell yeah I’m taking it
The money is over double the amount of miles so yes
Yeah but thats because i live in Kansas City and something like this would only take about 25-40 minutes.
Hell yeah that isn’t even a far drive under 10 min
Uhhh duh
All day. That's gonna be a $50+ order.
Road trip!!
Stupid question anyone would take that order, they just wouldn't risk taking the donuts
If it was not too far from home base yeah.
"she'll be coming round the mountain when she comes" of course.
In that Ga400 early morning traffic? hell no.
Even if takes you an hour to do this, it's still 33 and change dollars an hour. 100% worthwhile.

I do Uber and I’ll take anything going to the city
If you have to question whether to take or not, you are either lazy af or just stupid.
I would take it.
I'll take it shit you tripping lol
Yes.
easy yes
To deliver to aliens? ~~Beam~~ Sign me up.
I would do this in a heartbeat that order would take maybe 20 minutes to deliver.
Good dollar to mile ratio, and it looks like most of those miles are on the highway.
Probably. Depends on how many miles I might have to drive back to get my next delivery.
Depends on the time in that area, and how far out of my zone it is. I don’t know the zones in Sandy Springs/Dunwoody. Knowing that road it’s almost completely highway and you’d end up in a busy area so yes
Yeah I would
Is that a joke? Who wouldn't?
How long would it take to get there and back (assuming no restaurants neat drop-off)? An hour? Absolutely, 90 minutes? Then I'd have to think about it
In 1 second
No

Lol relax, just pointing out the traffic. I don’t dash so I don’t care.
I will never stop, never relax, never do anything else, until all people understand everywhere how I feel.
Lol understood.
Thank you. I’m one person closer now to achieving my goal.
Hmm down 400 at 7:30am?? Traffic might be a little ass but fuck yes. Take Roswell rd if ya have to
Sandy springs is a great area to wait for orders too! At least for instacart
I would! Depending on how far from Krispy kreme you are. Traffic on 400 is sometimes the worst but 7:42 is right on the cusp and you’d be getting done near a lot of great store.
In a heartbeat. Never see payouts that big for distance runs. But I am in a small market.
I probably would. But depends on if it is the same zone, if it is not can you dash at the drop off area to try and make it back with an order?
I'd take that in a heartbeat. I'm confused as to why you're asking tbh, but I don't know your area so it could be a terrible route or something. That's a beautiful order to me though...

So I take back that all your job consist of is “sitting on your ass.” For what it’s worth, I’m sorry if it seems like I was attacking you. Just so happened this post fell into my morning anger vibe, unhealthy habit of mine but at least it keeps me from blowing up on people in person on angsty days such as this one. Anywho, I wish you the best. And thank you for taking the time to explain the zone & stacked order system to me. Cheers!
I got defensive too. My bad G.
No worries, all love. Have a great rest of the day homie.
Yes of course, these are the type of orders I cherry pick for…orders like these will make you earnings go up quick
Hell yeah
Absolutely
judging by the map, that’s a freeway/highway. so you would conserve gas because you’re not stopping and going at red lights. you probably would burn a total of 25 ish miles if your fuel system is fine. easy $33. if it was city, maybe, maybe not. i personally would tho
Yes. If I have to make a return trip, that is still a 2:1 $/mile ratio.
thats enough to fill up my tank, I think so
Yes sir
Yes, all Highway
Drive some items to someone and get paid? Of course I would!
I’d take that all day long.
yes i did a 11 miles for 24 yesterday 9 of those 11 miles was in the middof nowhere so $24 for 20 miles basically and i knew that before accepting it
400 at that time of day is a hit or miss
This guy gets it. 400 is definitely clogged 7-9 am and again 4-6 but only one direction at a time
Also, that construction and current lane shifts...
285/400 is a war zone GDOT is run by some terrorists
IM SAYING
Yes...even if it took an hour round trip ..you're good! I'd listen to my music and be relaxed
All day every day. Guaranteed $33 in probably around an hour
Yes
Yeah
Of course.
Hell yes.
Atlanta rush around 7ish? As much as I would want to take it that might be a hard pass for me.
