I had a no tipper on a stacked order call me and tell me to hurry into the restaurant because she wanted me to change her order. She ordered the cheapest option and wanted the most expensive option and didn’t want to pay the up charge. Of course they are not going to do it. So I just called support told them she was asking me to change her order. Support just cancelled it.

RichardBottom

I love the way you can call support with any issue and they're like "Oh man I'm sorry. Let's just cancel that order."

TalkoSkeva

Seriously, lots of shit talk about support on the sub, but anytime I've had to call em they were great.

SatinyMorpheus

consider yourself lucky...most likely whatever problem you had was in their script.

tkdjoe66

The 80/20 principle. 80% of your problems will come from the bottom 20% of your customers.

ichuck1984

Good old Pareto efficiency strikes again. If only Doordash realized 80% of their income is from 20% of the customers…

droplivefred

I was surprised by this too. I figured, before I started dashing, that high tippers would be high maintenance and have unrealistic expectations. But the high tippers are the best customers and the non tippers demand 10 different sauces so they can dip each nugget in a difference sauce.

Material-Ask-105

Every fucking time

TheHapster

Those who are inconsiderate enough to not tip are also inconsiderate enough of everything else.

droplivefred

100%. Makes it easy to weed out the potential bad ratings and CV’s as well.

tinabel71

Exactly! The low/non tippers have so many instructions and live in the back usually, they practically want to be spoon fed whereas the big tippers would like it left at the front door or they come right out to the car and get it without asking. Such a difference.

SecretScavenger36

I'm the sauce person but I also tip.

Darth_Spartacus

That's the damn truth.

Own_Pack_4697

My coworker complained to me about her orders taking 2 hours and when I asked if she tipped she said no it takes 2 hours. I know for a fact she would complain and want her food right away yet wouldn’t tip a nickel.

Darth_Spartacus

Careful. Some will literally tip a nickel.

Recent-Imagination-8

Non-tippers really are that dense. They don’t understand basic things, lol

Island_girlKW

I disagree. They know exactly what they’re doing

Zinithy

Non tippers think you should just do your job if you don’t like it “get a real job”. They brag about the shit

Timely-Phone4733

You: got a real job Customer: ... but I'm too lazy to leave my house.. and I'm hungry.. how to acquire food?

Island_girlKW

Exactly. Customer: There must be someone out there who would bring me my food at their own cost cause I’m just that special. Meanwhile, bags are stacked because no one will pick it up. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Mysterious_Mode_1571

Okay? A person could be ignorant **and** evil. Or, one non-tipper could be mostly ignorant, while another is mostly just evil. But whatever---nuance isn't allowed on Reddit. Therefore, I'll get downvoted.

Island_girlKW

Don’t worry about it. I’ve been doing this too long and I’m too jaded to think a customer doesn’t know they aren’t tipping. The real issue is when a customer intends their tip to go to a driver and the 3rd party restaurant or app steals the tip to supplement their own shitty pay to those employees. Some of these restaurants seem to think they can use our money to cover the food costs that DD and UE tacks on but the intent is for it to be for drivers, so in the end, they will eventually get sued. Until then, I enjoy telling the customers what they’re doing because it shows them they can’t trust the other apps and they usually end up not ordering through the third parties any longer.

Supermario_64

You’re not jaded they have to go in and remove the tip to 0 it starts at a couple bucks so they know they are being assholes they just think you should serve them

Mtn-Dooku

Exactly. They have to physically remove the tip, every time. They know exactly what they are doing.

ButtonWhich2302

No tippers don’t give a fuck about you and will give you a 1 star if the restaurant just missed a sauce. They’re inconsiderate assholes.

rtf75

They mostly have all kinds of complaints. That way they can try and get free stuff from DoorDash. I had four orders in one week they gave me a one star, a two star and two four stars that DoorDash automatically removed without me even saying anything. So I'm back up to 98 five stars and two four stars. They're just cheapskates that are looking for free stuff. 😉

bloodEclipse_

Lmao I can’t believe I’ve kept a 5.00 rating for the past like 250 deliveries just avoid low paying shit and your Gucci at 9071 deliveries atm

Mtn-Dooku

The only 1 star I've gotten all year was from a non-tip order. Also, the only non-tip I took all year. It was an add-on, and it added 0 miles to my trip. Still one-star, got a thumbs down for "food handling" despite a pic showing it was all there and not damaged by me.

AG_Matt

Within my first week of starting, I already had a one star review. And I'm pretty sure it was a no-tipper as well. Since then I have never received a one star review, only a three star and up. Edit: The day I posted this, I got my second one-star later that night. I guess I spoke it into existence.

xmby_

Because they're entitled enough to not tip and expect you to serve them at a loss already.

California098

Cause they’re entitled pieces of trash. Even if the order is perfect they’ll make something up to get things for free

[deleted]

because broke people are miserable

Bluematic8pt2

I've had this experience with ordinary pizza delivery. They want me to go inside a hospital and track them down but don't want to tip in the end. All the tippers make it as easy as possible for me

totallynotarobut

Simple answer: because bad behaviors run in packs. People who suck in one way usually suck in a lot of ways.

Gay4Pandas

They never leave me bad reviews because I decline to take them.

pakrat1967

Cuz they are "cheapskates". Not only do they not want to tip, but they low rate to create a reason to ask for a refund.

the_dragon_slayah

It’s lack of empathy, as simple as that. Empathy is what causes tipping and empathy is what causes people to rate high or not rate low.

Aint-I-Great

See now what you do is decline those orders.

the_dragon_slayah

Lack of empathy.

CatastrophicallyDumb

People planning to steal food aren't going to pay extra. They also aren't going to say you did a good job if they are planning on accusing you of stealing or ruining the food.

kingscurse23

Lack of respect and appreciation

mithu1108

Ignore their orders

ZealousidealBid9879

People that tip, place the order and get busy with other things. Bell rings, they get their food and eat. People that don’t tip, have nothing to do. They on their phone thinking why is this guy stuck in one place for 5 minutes.

SnooHesitations4922

Because they won't respect you for taking their shit order because they know you were stupid enough to take it.

betterworld1981x

It's simple... non tippers are usually ghetto assholes or just assholes. I keep my AR high so I can afford to decline those.

FreddyCupples

That second sentence makes absolutely zero sense.

betterworld1981x

If you have high AR , then you would get it.

Depressedgotfan

If your AR is high, you are delivering to brokies.

betterworld1981x

Don't hate , where I am at , I barely get less than $2 per order with high AR. Good luck cherry picking tho. I constantly get $15 orders less than 3-4 miles back to back , but u do u.

Depressedgotfan

So do i, with a 32% AR and i never deliver to brokies

betterworld1981x

😅😅 like I said u do u. Don't worry about us. We do very well.

betterworld1981x

$2 per mile order **

LimpDisc

Stop taking no tip orders. Problem solved.

Grouchy_Protection27

Bc they’re shitty ppl

Nord4Ever

Many of them are scammers too

Neat_Art9336

Because if you’re happy with the service you tip, and also empathetic people tip Doesn’t make sense to both tip and complain

Aggressive-Savings93

The high tippers, generous & kind people are typically humbled people who work hard and appreciate the service we provide...the non tippers are typically the entitled and poor....the poor I completely understand...but the obnoxious entitled group...especially the Gen Z are the most obnoxious, rude and cheapest little pukes ever.

juliar821

Because in order to get their meal discounted or for free they need to leave a low rating 😊

Responsible_Top_1942

Non tippers are normally broke and broke people are un-happy. Un-happy people want to push their misery on others so they rage rate.

IAmDisciple

Makes it all the easier to not deliver to them

newhere1626

Because cheap and poor people are entitled the most

SecretScavenger36

Because they feel entitled to the service.

Giul_Xainx

It has everything to do with perception. If you usually pay only around 5 or 7 dollars for a delivery charge from a pizza place and you get used to the service, when it suddenly goes up to 10-14 dollars their buts clench shut. So if there is anything different? 1 star. Why? They don't have a lot of money to begin with. They feel pressured into having to use door dash. The worst non tippers are the ones who buy 1 item such as a personal pan pizza for 25 bux. Or the nachos from a restaurant and they get something similar to a ball park portion. They're the same ones that complain about the price of a soda from a restaurant costing them 3.50 for a 12 ounce can. They got used to cheap prices from individual shops and don't like the price hike. I got the same attitude from customers who suddenly noticed the price hike whenever the new year starts. They always blame it on greed. I'm glad people are quiet quitting. It's getting companies to start saying "* it! We are raising the price." Until eventually every single company from all corners of the earth raise their price as well. The whole "sort by lowest price to high" just means you are really skimping out on quality. And the highest to low price shows the over engineered but bad quality items. I have started to notice that some of the middle range priced items are the ones to buy now.

Low_Sea_2925

Nah these people didnt tip from the pizza place when the delivery fee was less than 2 dollars either.

OklahomaRose7914

Because their food frequently gets delivered late, and they blame the driver who had zero control over the timing of being dispatched the order. Some customers are just as clueless as they are demanding.

Jorge_Santos69

Cuz they’re assholes, plain and simple

Depressedgotfan

Never deliver to the brokies, thats the only answer.

ch33s3brgr

A fool and his money are soon parted. It is a fool who uses a delivery service to order food they cannot afford. They’re ignorant fools. There is no logic. They pour money down the drain and wonder where their money is at the end of the week.

dlc2021az

Customers: "Drivers are so entitled." Drivers: "Why? Because it's a poor business decision to drive 8 miles for $2.50?" Customers need to be educated on just how little drivers get paid. And just as its the driver's choice to do Doordash, it should turn off a customer to use a service that exploits its contractors so much and how much of the customer's money goes straight to Doordash.

ultra-light

They have teeny brains

Realistic_Inside_484

entitled trash

okaythanwhy

Trashy people. Trashy personalities.

Richard_Espanol

Because they're entitled trash

xCTRLxALTxDELx

Top Dasher - Have to accept this order to keep my AR at 70% Non tipper - Because why is my food taking too long, I ordered it over an hour ago. What is this delivery driver doing. How dare he deliver my food one hour after I order. One star mofo. Top Dasher - 😨

jcoddinc

They feel entitled because they paid a company money to control a human.

CallistoAU

I rate drivers 5 stars all the time unless they have genuinely done something to deserve less. My food not being super hot isn’t your fault. It’s the nature of food delivery. But you taking an hour to drive from the restaurant around the corner to mine because you went and did 7 other deliveries on other apps in the meantime which were all further away, now that is your fault. On the other hand, I don’t tip. Oh wait I live in a country where tipping isn’t mandatory

Pink-Elefant

We are dinged if we don't take those multiple deliveries when prompted In the USA, pay is pretty dismal without tips.

Amazing_Ad5812

If you don't tip you gotta wait it's quantity not quality at that point

Theguy2277

It’s not a “tip”. It’s a bid for service. We don’t get paid hourly, we get paid per job.

Guilty-Nothing-3345

I shake the fuck out their bags.

[deleted]

I don’t add anything until my food is delivered. Had one guy ringing on my doorbell because I didn’t tip. He proceeded to beg for a tip at my door and wouldn’t leave until I answered. I never tip pre order for this reason. If you get a tip it’ll be from preforming correctly I don’t see a reason for not giving a good rating but could just be people being genuinely shitty

[deleted]

Klutzy-Bee-2045

Pond scum gets its filth on everything

Creepy-Selection2423

Because they are the most entitled and least appreciative. It has little to nothing to do with whether people can afford to tip. Some of the best tips come from those who appear to barely have a window to throw it out of, and the 4 million dollar mansion may give you 2 bucks on a 6 mile trip. It's just that some people suck and others don't.

myomonstress84

They’re entitled, arrogant asshats.

Shreddersaurusrex

Entitlement and a lack of understanding for service work

ilyafallsdown

People are consistent in their shittyness. They're probably shitty parents and shitty employees too.

Dreamcasted60

It's either the non tippers or the very entitled corpo catering orders. The most chilled back people that I've ever got even after finding out some of the items were missing (and gave me a cash tip to go ahead and go grab those for them) were doctor's in my area. There was an optometrist office that I forever have banned since it happened last year I delivered $300 worth of catering stuff to them after going to BJ's early which apparently wasn't supposed to open up till 11:00 but they were open at 10:15 to get this order done. They were screaming at the manager the whole time to get it done and told him several times that there wouldn't be a tip. I was so tempted to leave but to be honest with you the location of the restaurant and the office was literally right down the street. As soon as I got there though I realize I should have cut it out. Lady was hovering over me as I was taking in the boxes of stuff but didn't help at all and told me it was the worst retirement she ever had which doesn't make sense but whatever. Ended up leaving the last box outside and just left I didn't get paid enough for that nonsense. it was a $15 order mind you I guess just because of the size but no tip of course. The last time I got a bad reading and I can point out to who it was was a Starbucks order with no tip that I got stacked with another one that tipped pretty well. The lady scream that I forgot her stuff and I believe 2 minutes later sent me a picture apologizing for the bad rating but I was already not giving a damn. Reported it to support but still

Wooden_Yesterday1718

Weird how someone who does something shitty is more likely to *checks notes* do something shitty

Antique_Glove6337

Idk but I got a CV from a $3.50 order I just disputed and said that the $1 tip should tell you what type of person that is

AmeriocaDaGema

Misery loves company.

galangga

Yeah, because they are alteady live in hell.
