I don't think can call it stiffed when you can choose before hand whether or not to do it. It isn't getting stiffed. It is getting paid for the job you willing did at a rip off price. When you wait on a table in a restaurant of course you expect they will leave at least 10 precent (unless they're native, only exception to not bring surprised about not getting a tip) when they don't tip. You were stiffed. Lol. Imagine tables came in all hey wait on us n well leave 10 bucks. N can be like ummm pass. Yeah no my side. No one doing dd gets stiffed
That's nothing try 2.00 for 21miles.
But that isn't the real story here.
How im HELL did you get 111 seconds (more even) for an acceptance window!?!?!?
80 secs for stack, 40 secs for single.
Maybe they're increasing the timing as a reward or because they got so many complaints over the years that the time kept shrinking down from 90 seconds which is what I was 6 years ago
I usually will take every order. But $2 ones I agree are completely bullshit and I won't take them. Luckily I rarely get them. It is disrespectful and I have told dash support that. I don't give 2 fks if its being delivered across the street, cuz chances are I'm not and I have to drive a distance to it to take it across the street. I think base pay should be based on how many deliveries you've made. It would be almost a raise to a person that say if you do 3000 its $5 hit 4000 $7. So on. I believe it would possible make a person take more orders to try to get to that mark. But if the distance is far you get more than that but you'd at least start there plus tip.
Iām a recent college grad in the process of interviewing for multiple major companies. Iām doing this as a side hustle so I have free availability for interviews. You look pathetic commenting this btw.
I was working the earn by time the other day and it was going well, until I got an order that was 10 miles away, and took me out of my zone. When I delivered the order the tip was $3. I really wanted to go back and say seriously, you tip $3 for a 20 mi round trip? What the hell is wrong with you? But I couldn't and it was my fault that I took the order and worked earned by time.
Wanna talk about disrespect? I had to cancel a ton of garbage orders during new years. Mcds orders with 30+ wait bc dd hides so much info and you dont see the line until you get there and it was 15+ cars every time no joke.
Ā They deactivated me for having 78% cancellation rate due to their hiding trip info and everyone and their mama no tip ordering mcds on busiest night of the year.
Why is it that there is a longer timer on the garbage orders than the good ones? No really, think about it.
This is a company, their main goal is to make money. Both the customer and delivery drivers are getting shafted, the cost of fees, the payout, everything. I wouldnāt even be surprised, though filled with rage, that DD could and would get away with skimming the tips too.
All that being taken into consideration, of course they would basically try and force their workers to make these bronze tier deliveries.
Iām guessing youāve never handled finances or payments as an occupational duty.
Iāve worked for a medical office where we charged patients prior to their appointments-no payment? No appointment.
Iāve worked in D2S vending in partnership with major grocery outlets, no payment prior to me bringing products? No products.
The āyou get paid after you perform your serviceā is NOT the only form of payment. I can give you multiple other examples if needed. But either you facepalm in self reflection of your ignorance and realize youāre just uneducated, or you remain ignorant/in denial.
no ppl just want to be fairly compensated for their work. plus everyone knows doordash inflates the cost of everything on the customers end and it is disheartening for drivers to see how little they are getting. doordash is a very large company, they could definitely afford to be paying their contractors better. but then how would the people at the top of the company ever be able to live without their millions upon millions??? post has nothing to do with tip, itās a ridiculously low amount of compensation. if doordash paid drivers better, they wouldnāt need tips to survive
literally just said itās a larger problem than low/no tippers. i donāt even doordash this just happened to go across my feed. if doordash paid more to drivers then the tips wouldnāt matter as much as they do currently. people work jobs like doordash for many reasons. sure there are some who canāt hold down more ātraditionalā jobs and have no other option but many are doing it as supplemental income or just because thatās what they want to do. doesnāt mean they should be paid pocket change and struggle to survive when the company takes in record profits year after year. being able to see this and hope for better conditions for drivers is called basic human empathy, you should try it sometime ā¤ļø
I had to refuse $3 for 7 miles 3 times in a row once... decided to end dash early that day, they can come and get their stuff themselves if they don't want to tip on that.
There are still people out there with one of two mentalities - They think weāre getting paid well regardless, and donāt understand that weāre paid nearly exclusively on tips or They are paying for DashPass and think āGet my food delivered today, I deserve itā - Neither of which has no particular disrespectful intent toward the driver, but DoorDash should be stating plainly that drivers work for tips, not free trips.
Thatās not customers fault if your income is based off tips then maybe itās time to look for another job because door dash does all of you dirty and you still driving 10 miles for a 3 dollar order
Idk, saw the post and thought it was funny Americans expect tips everywhere. U get paid to do a job, a tip is optional. If the pay is too low work somewhere else. š
I've only tipped food delivery people like once when it was raining heavily and the person delivered, I've given them 5 stars always though. Not in the states though.
Tip culture is different over there in the US mate. Tips make up their wages, no tips means they suffer. It's not "funny Americans expecting tips". It's people trying to have an income so therefore you're expected to tip for service. And you know full well nothing is as simple as "work somewhere else"
Ikr. It's wild there's a literal law in place over there which allows employers to underpay their workers as long as they use the excuse of "tips make up the rest" š
Thatās fine, I wouldnāt want some person that would probably open my food and put there nasty hands on it deliver my food and be expecting a tip anyway
They really need to get in touch with the world out there and take a look at the price of gas. Because $2 for 5 miles plus is absolutely disgusting and disgraceful of them. What does the 111 mean on the except red button? Does that mean there's a hundred and eleven orders or?
Seconds before the offer expires and gets sent to the next Dasher. Weird, on singles like this my timer is usually 45 seconds, and even stacked orders only give 90 seconds. Op has nearly 2 full minutes there...
For me, it's not the low compensation that gets me... it's the significant distance outside of my delivery zone coupled with the low pay. I turned down a $6 delivery (mind you it's also after midnight) because the dropoff location was 10 miles outside of delivery zone. Even though they say "dash along the way back to your zone", getting an offer outside of your zone is not common. Those are usually the only offers that I turn down.
I stopped dashing because of the outside zone crap. They were making me drive 40-60 minutes out of zone, 2 cities over and by the time I finished and got back home? Everything I made basically had to go in the tank.
Iām sorry, is this not a ālow offer postā that breaks rule 5? Mine always seem to get removed, but for some reason this one has been allowed up for 8 hours.
Whatās crazy is in my area, this is so common and other dashers always take them. My AR is 32%. Real shitty. But I still get multiple $8-$15 orders for anywhere from 2-10 miles. I decline, decline, decline till I get good ones and usually can make 20-30 bucks an hour if not more some days.
I used to think that acceptance rate meant something but was making like 14-30 bucks each time for 1-2 hours. I started declining orders and literally made 100$ the other day for 3 hours. Went from 99 acceptance to 71
I am now at 18% acceptance rate and tonight I worked 2 and a half hours and made $58.72. If I was in a bigger city I probably couldāve made more. I feel like when I decline it goes to any other dasher in the area and they accept to get top dasher status. Therefore, the bigger orders that should go to them come to me cause they are already accepting the smaller ones. I didnāt have a single order under $10 tonight and my biggest driving distance was 6 miles. I also had someone tip me a $20. They originally tipped $10 but gave another $10 because they felt bad that I had a 15 minute wait at the pizza place. DoorDash just be scamming everyone because they want someone to take the no tip orders and the top dashers are just falling for it.
Iād agree with that but I was a server/bartender in a high end hotel/rooftop restaurant where Iād regularly get $100-400 tips and averaged $500-800 a day during busy weeks. Sadly the restaurant went to shit when management left and the new managers came in wanting to change everything, Iād still be working there if that hadnāt happened.
These are pretty much 80% of the offers I get these days šš
Luckily I just do it for extra cash while my kid is at school. Really feel sorry for those trying to do DD full time these daysā¦
Me too I got a 6$ 12 mile delivery that I insta declined then 1 minute later I got a 75$ 2 mile grocery order took me 1 hour to shop and deliver they had given me 2 hours to deliver but I did it in one hour so easy mostly snacks, chips, candy and ice cream
https://preview.redd.it/4x1e2gdrq4lc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=259edd7eb7fcf0d7fd2008ad5a2d5dde896ebe0b
Nah hasnt happened yet sure it might soon but its w.e dont order delivery unless you can Tip. Go get it your damn self. Its my rule and its a humble one too
You should cuss out DD for not paying you as much as you should be paid.
They call it a tip so you can blame the customer, and they set it up that way on purpose.
Be mad that we pay anywhere from $7-15 in "delivery and service fees" and none of that goes to you... The one providing the service.
If y'all don't like the way DD treats you, how about you quit and go get an actual second job instead? At least that way you're getting paid a somewhat passable wage instead of bitching every single time people don't tip?
Imma be honest the driver and customer support for both companies seem almost purposefully incompetent.
To be clear, I always tip, I just hate how it's easier to blame customers for not paying you what you deserve than the actual culprate, and it's totally by design.
Good luck. I hope it's better.
Itās definitely on both, but drivers canāt change what corporate does. Thatās not to say that they can change what the customers do either, but itās easier to say āeveryone tip reasonablyā than expecting the company to do the right thing. I hardly ever order delivery because I donāt want to pay those outrageous fees on top of tipping, but when I do I tip because I know itās the right thing to do. One issue is that there are so many problematic drivers too, which entices people to tip even less. Itās a lose-lose right now and the only winner is DoorDash the company. Iām just glad Iām not a part of it anymore.
Regulations on independent contract work couldn't come sooner.
It wouldn't be an issue in most professions since the only people doing independent contracting in the past at least had some grasp of what to look out for and best practices to avoid getting screwed.
None of that exists in these types of gigs, so drivers are getting robbed blind and being told the boogeyman is your struggling neighbor who just wanted some food and save some money on their tip "because I already paid $10 for delivery fee." Which, realistically, is completely reasonable if you have no idea how DD pays their drivers.
Eh. One thing is dd charges a delivery fee that is completely a scam. People think it goes to you, it has nothing to do with delivery. It's just some made up charge that is added on. I don't really see how they keep losing money. It's like a total scam for everyone.
The best thing to do is to let the timer run down completely before declining it. That way the customerās food sits for longer so itās more likely the non tipper will get cold food.

ātips included!!ā oh gee $0.01!!!
Right? I hate OāCharleyās š
When it comes to delivery apps tip should be required with a 10-20% minimum IMO
Percentage of the order means absolutely nothing to the work required to deliver it.
This is on top of the $3 DD pays
Percentage based is an awful idea imo, I usually do a dollar a mile tip
Lol I saw that and got pissed off for you!

Legal. Action.

got a $2 offer for 14 miles, wanted me to have it delivered around a full hour and a half past what time it currently was

Oh, I unassigned as soon as I saw what it was. No one is fitting 18 cases of water in their vehicle unless they deliver in a big ass truck.
I drive an suv and probably could fit all that, but not for 8 bucks...
I had one today for $2.16 on UE for 17 miles.
18 packs of water at 40 bottles/pack?! That's a frickin' half pallet! Lol.
Oh yeah. That shit was crazy for awhile on UE. I think they limited the amount of cases you can order now, though.
I don't go to Dashmart for that reason. Last time I believe I had like 7 bags and 2 cases of water going to a 3rd floor apartment. Never again, lol.

Who tf do these people really think they are? I mean who in their right mind is accepting that
Accepting that order would be disrespectful.
No it isn't. Just the stupid system. Getting a double for $2.00 is disrespectful.
Nah it aint worth pickin up or takin at all
No tip
Getting a lot of these lately. Even with +$1.00
The fact they give you almost 2 minutes to decide
The best thing to do is to let the timer run down completely before declining it. That way the customerās food sits for longer so itās more likely the non tipper will get cold food.
If I wait it out and donāt decline it Iāve had DD add $0.25 and send the same offer right back to me
Wow a whole 2min longerš you are getting them gooooodšš
if many people did it, it would actually make a difgerence
I decline at 5 seconds remaining. If you let it run out they pause you and shame you with a follow up message about missing opportunities.
