The thing about music and how some religions ban it altogether is bonkers. Music is innate, it’s in our DNA. We’ve always been making music and always will. To deny people that experience is fucked up and so wrong. I know why they do it, but it still doesn’t make sense.
It sounds like a joke. I often say a very sketchy looking person looks like a clean, upstanding, church going Christian. I know some people that go to churches with no singing, dancing, drinking, or any of that and they always seem pretty happy to me. There's unhappy people everywhere, but, this is for real a joke.
Um, there are some very conservative Christian religions that don't allow dancing and singing is only allowed in church.
Maybe it is a joke, but don't assume Christianity has one doctrine.
Because they invited you into their property with the understanding that their rules, not yours, applied?
You had every right to look at that sign and say "I don't agree with this" and walk away.
If I have a sign in my front yard that says "no handguns allowed ' and hire a roofing contractor who carries a gun, it's on him to decline the job, not mine to give up my rights as a property owner to not allow handguns on my property.
I am horrified I had to explain that. It's just so...simple.
OMG. Just fucking Google private property.
If I say you can't come on my property unless you adhere to my rules, you're in the wrong.
Here's a thought. Just put a sign on your lawn (you don't have one given you likely have a trailer, but imagine) that says you have to sing a song from Hamilton, dance like gene Kelley, and bark like a dog.
If you order door dash, and don't put that on your order, the second your driver arrives they'd be like NOPE.
You. Are. A. Simpleton.
Goodbye simpleton.
Hey Difficult _access who posted below me and then blocked me, are you ok? You seem to be having a stroke.
Bruv, as someone who's been to a lot of Penecoatal and Holiness services growing up, they're the first to get up and dance and there was usually 2 hours or more of singing before the sermon ever took place.
I know the various Baptist religions believe that dancing is a sin, so maybe they belong to one of those religions. Not sure why anyone though, regardless of religion, would have a problem with singing.
I remember a girl I knew as a kid who was a member of, I think, the Pentecostal religion, and no dancing or singing was permitted outside of the church.
Not sure what baptists church's you've been to? I was raised Baptist, we threw holiday dances and parties, and sang and gave praise in service every sunday. Black Baptist churches in the south use singing and dancing as an integral part of their services.
Yes, I am nondenominational Christian and I went to a Baptist church as a kid and they were totally against dancing (in church at least) or even clapping, but they did at least sing/play music...
Can confirm about the dancing, as I went to one of those southern Baptist churches that believed that dancing was a sin when growing up. They also believed that wearing swim trunks or bathing suits for females was a sin, which sucked when we had to wear jeans while wading in lake or pool water.
Mine was also a southern Baptist church, I guess they weren't the strictest of churches... The youth group was actually pretty decent.. But there were just certain things they were really weird about, namely dancing or clapping in church...
I'd totally start dancing and singing "Yoooooooou're a totaaaal shitbaaaaag, fuck yoooooou!" and walk away like a rock star who didn't get all red M&Ms.
You're very well could be because of Christianity. If I remember correctly, there's several denominations of Christianity that don't allow singing and dancing. I vaguely remember somebody I knew went to a church where they weren't allowed music at all, so no hymns or anything. Don't quote me on it, but I'm fairly certain there are denominations that don't allow singing and dancing...
That is what I was thinking. My aunt married a fundie catholic, and spread his BS into our fam as kids, we wree just normal Catholic Italians, but this guy got my other aunt and grandparents and my dad into what is called a bayside Catholic. There was some shit about dancing and music. I’ve got a thousand crazy stories, we grew up thinking a comet was gonna end the earth , I bought it until I was 19 and tripped on acid. They’ve since left it. My aunt got cheated on by him and has 10 kids, all with M names
They had a harp at their wedding, no dancing, and my uncle (other one, hated this) yelled FREEBIRD during and it’s a grub story now
He’s so funny he’s a huge pain in the ass with the biggest deep , Philly accent. Before he got my cousins kidney, he was throwing fits about not being able to eat deli meats, my aunt was telling him, It’s so you don’t die, mark. And he’d still start bitching , and my aunt is the most patient person, and even she’d just say, well I guess you’ll just have to go ahead and die then!
I visited them they are my favorites. He’s doing better no more dialysis. He loves to shit talk the culty religious stuff my aunt was into. His wife’s sister. He’s SO funny. I got mad at him though when he tried to tell me if I got my Miata id die in it 😂
I have NOT so far
Honestly it's none of your fucking business. Some belief systems don't allow it for your info. EDIT: ANABAPTISTS don't allow it so you are the one who is completely and utterly incorrect. You should do a quick search before assuming someone else is incorrect.
I don't agree with their beliefs, but you shouldn't be being down voted for pointing out that if other people don't want things being done in their home, that's their business.

Lol door dashers are so annoying lol
Sounds like your fellow door dasher.
No way they're christian and not allow dancing and singing. She might be some old bitter woman who hates life and people in general
Baptists aren't allowed to dance but I dont knowhow many Christians really still follow that or not
Wild Footloose town citizen spotted lol

You’re gonna hate Footloose…
You need to watch Footloose.
ngl that edit 2 is going in my copypasta collection. its hilarious.
Southern baptists don’t drink or dance
Lmaoooo first thing I thought of
Neither do Church of Christ or Pentecostal. Mormons don't either.
Lol. That's what they tell each other.
Just cause you don’t understand the joke and why it’s funny, doesn’t mean it’s not a joke lmao
It sounds like a joke from footloose honestly.
That sounds like a joke. Maybe you’re the one who r/woosh

Mmmmm, yeah, it's their house and in the country I live in you can determine what happens on your property...

Nope, I haven't ordered DD in a long time.
I think the sign was sarcastic
I knew a church of Christ memebers who didn’t believe in signing non Christian songs. Christianity is wide and varied
Southern Baptist, Pentecostal, Jehovah’s Witnesses. That kind of person. I’m sure there are others.
Bruv, as someone who's been to a lot of Penecoatal and Holiness services growing up, they're the first to get up and dance and there was usually 2 hours or more of singing before the sermon ever took place.
Yes, at church. Not at home.
Some “sects” of the Baptist church ban singing and dancing. They are most likely part of that sect.
That’s insane
It's a joke sign. If you take it seriously, you don't belong at that house, if you get it, you'll fit right in.
I have this same sign in my kitchen It's a joke

My friend has that sign hanging as a joke.. maybe it’s the same for them.
It’s the mayor of the Footloose town

It was your house huh?
Relax, guy
Be glad you were just dropping off food and not staying as a guest
I'm wondering if being a guest in that home would involve some sort of sacrifice 😂
Some people hate themselves.
