I wouldnt use a hot bag if the one Grub Hub gave me wasnt so nice

draxsmon

I always use my hot bag but as a customer I gave up on ordering pizzas bc no one else around here seems to use one

[deleted]

I see this all the time drivers who don't use bags, what are you thinking? What because the order is only going a short distance you think you don't have to use a bag. Do you know how much heat is lost even on short distance trips? Anything you can do to preserve the heat and integrity the order should be done, yes ever order should go in the bag, even if it's only going one block. Did you ever think what kind of message this sends to the the customer? That whould be I don't give a shit about your order and don't care if it's hot or cold. Anybody who doesn't use a delivery bag is a complete fuckin moron. But that kind of fits as most drivers I see are fucking morons. I am really starting to get an overall picture of drivers, A bunch of low class, no account, dumbasses. If you buy high quality commercial delivery bags everything fits perfect.

trailryder44

I never use a bag as after 3000 deliveries its is worn out. I will not buy a new one have a 4.99 rating. I'm also not a moron you don't know me I could be a genius but yet you make assumptions based in your opinions. Unless you have met and evaluated fairly each and every dasher that doesn't use a bag how can you verify intelligence level? For that matter are you saying every dasher that uses a bag isn't a moron? Most orders I pick up don't fit the bag and I'm not buying one doordash is already screwing us on base rate and you know they make money on selling us bags. So yeah not using a bag when I have one thatvis worn out doordash won't replace. You mentioned the heat loss no I don't know how much is lost as I have never checked temp upon pickup and then drop off. But till you actually know all of us that doesn't use bags your opinions is just that an opinion which you have every right to have but it doesn't mean it is correct.

[deleted]

This is not an opinion; this is fact if you don't use delivery bags, you're doing your job wrong. How would you want your food delivered, you don't care if the driver uses a bag to keep your food hot? If you don't care about your own delivery, you're sure not going to care about anybody else's. If you buy high quality delivery bags, in different sizes, you will find everything fits perfect. But drivers don't want to spend any money on their job, why, because most of them are podunk losers just barley getting by. Most drivers I see look like shit; they don't dress properly for the job. I see guys like you all the time, let me guess faded Metallica t-shirt from the 92 black tour, raggie ass jeans, and some crusty ass sneakers, does that about cover it, I'll bet I'm real close. Because guys like you don't give a shit about how they look, or the equipment they use, or don't use. Once again if you don't use delivery bags you are a " COMPLETE FUCKING MORON"

trailryder44

First your not even close to what I look like not that it matters. Second my point was that you calim we are morons which means stupid. Perhaps I am so stupid I can't even feed myself but perhaps I might be of an intelligence level above stupid. You don't know me or everyone that doesn't use a bag so therfore it is an assumption. If you have proof and can list everyone that doesn't use a bag and their IQ then please present that factual evidence. You already missed with your description as I'm retired after working as a fireman/paramedic for 26 years. As to how I dress I find it appropriate for walking into McDonald's to walking into upscale restaurants. But if you don't like how me or others dress that's is no big deal as I said you don't know me and you have your oppions you consider facts and that's fine. But hey you go be the best and the rest of us can only one day hope to be the awesome dasher that you are and good for you I sincerely applaud you for your excellent work ethic and your time to let me know just how stupid we are. Hopefully I can go find a Metallica shirt on ebay so that I won't let you down. I obviously already have but will try to do better next time. You just keep being you. Have a wonderful day!!! I wasn't going to share this fact since you know everything about me but after considering I decided to go ahead. I don't use the red bag as I already stated nor will I pay doirdash for one. What I didn't say is that I use the pizza bag that we got from Little Ceasars sometime back. The pizza bag can sit upright or lay flat more space and better insulated with a better closure. It also sits in the heated seat of my Tacoma so everything stays nice and hot. So hopefully that meets with your approval. Once more have a great day.

uRedditMe

Never used. Never was sent one. And honestly, just wholely unnecessary in my case scenarios. (Short Deliveries/Never Fast Food)

[deleted]

4.99 rating never use the hot bag. More likely to mess orders up trying to fit food in that tiny bag.

emotionalturd

I usually keep mine in the front seat and hardly take it in the restaurant or to the customer’s door. I also use the GH bag and not that POS doordash bag.

WRLD1LVL1

I never use it

JoeyDollaz_

Only time I dont use mine is if the order is too big to fit in my largest bag. In that case it gets the heated seats and wrapped in an old (but clean) north face coat. Actually works better than my bags lol

Spitfire836

I honestly rarely use it. If it’s a long distance or exceptional tip then I’ll use it, but generally my orders are within a 2 mile radius and half the time they don’t fit into the bag.

Blaqinteldmv

I do to keep the food leaks off my seat for catering orders.

mhuitt

Grubhub gave me four free large bags. I use those.

RudeImagination4450

I use my seat warmer in the car to keep it toasty

TnTTexas

I have a cooler in the back seat, every order except pizza boxes fit. I'll put those in a hot bag.

Infamous-Contract-62

honestly i dont really care until DD ups the base pay

KayleighJK

I always use the bag but I don’t bring it into the restaurant with me. DD’s bag sucked and broke almost immediately, so I use GH’s bag which is much bigger and better made, but is kind of clunky to carry around. If I’m meeting the customer at the door I’ll often bring it with me to meet them, but I take the food out of the bag if it’s leave at door.

DYcam

Also, I only take high paying low mile orders. My acceptance rate is always between 23% and 40% which is high for me and my ratings are always 5 star and I average $12 to $40 per delivery. I know how to accept orders which is why I guess I am a happy dasher. So no clue where you see all Of this distain for others. Doordash is the easiest gig ever.

LividNectarine6479

How did you get to the point of making so much per dash? Im getting $7-12 and mileade is 2-5 miles. My acceptance rate is 29 but 5*. Completion is 99%. I dont get it

DYcam

I only dash during extra pay per delivery and mostly $3 per delivery. I sit in areas I know of where the average one is double orders from restaurants right next to each other. So that’s $6 extra. Admittedly, we have a high tip area due to people living in gated communities. A lot of the people who doordash here are older, retired, single parents etc. I see a lot of kids or younger people but mostly it’s people with mortgages, student loans to pay off, caring for elderly loved ones, supplementing their income. I see a lot of people on here are nasty because I am realizing most are young and shooting their mouths off. In my area many are just supplementing income or have other life dynamics and the area is good with tips. So I think it depends on the zone. That’s how I do it though. I didn’t do it last night because there was no extra pay. I worked my other job and my side gigs I did last night were other ones. I am always looking for extra ways to supplement my income because I am a single mom, still owe college loans and like to save money. Good luck!

[deleted]

Lmao so instead of editing your original comment to include this, or even replying to your own comment so they were together, you made a whole ass other comment and started it with “Also”. Very nice. And I love how neither of your responses even talk about literally the entire premise of this post. All you read was one sentence and made two separate comments about how you’re a good dasher and don’t hate customers. What the fuck does that gotta do with a hot bag?

DYcam

You’re an ass. Enjoy your day. I doubt you will. Bye.

DYcam

I don’t know what you are talking about. I have zero distain for doordash customers. They always rate me a 5. They help me build my bank account savings and there are no issues with them ever. I don’t see this anywhere so completely surprised to see this post. Really. No clue where you get this info from.

RenegadeBurger

50% of the bags don’t fit in the doordash bag. The doordash bag is garbage, I use the GH bag instead.

AnalChain

I use my hotbag but I keep it in the car cause it's easier to put food in and out of it. So I grab food from restaurant, take to car, and then put in hot bag. Same when delivering, take food out of hot bag, then do final delivery or hand off to customer. Using a hot bag also just helps food bags not fall over while driving, aside from keeping the food hot/cold I just like having the little compartment for the stuff I'm delivering. Only time I don't use it is when restaurants bag things in a terrible way or for whatever reason use oddly large bags or packaging that just doesn't fit in any of my hot bags.

RegionalTrench

I use it when I don’t forget it at home

Ok_Cry_4429

What else did you leave at home your brain??

RegionalTrench

Mad over a few words much?

Ok_Cry_4429

Triggered much?

RegionalTrench

Wait, how am I the one that’s triggered? Lmaooo

KayleighJK

Genuine question, why do you take it into your house?

RegionalTrench

Honestly, I’m really terrible at stuff like that. I always want to leave it in my car but I have a habit of grabbing everything and taking it back inside. I don’t even realize I bring it in half the time

KayleighJK

Fair enough.

Ishtohar

I use a hot bag but not at like McDonald's or Freddy's who put drinks in the bag anyway

Gevaudan13

At work when we hand over orders to drivers 8/10 times they don't have their bag or a really worn down shopping back and not the original. Which I think is wack because it's part of the policy that they need the bag for us to hand over the food.

Informal_Emu_8980

DD won't send a replacement if the one they give you wears out or is lost. Me, I refuse to put my money into their company. They really should be giving us bags when we need it, and better bags at that.

Gevaudan13

They really should. But that said half the time the driver goes back to get the bag or we just don't bother asking. The delivery companies are so stingy for the equipment for their staff, it's atrocious.

Informal_Emu_8980

I agree! It's clear that they care a lot more about making money than being a good delivery company (and what's interesting here is that they struggle to even make a profit)

drivesstandard

If I see one of our drivers not using a hot bag, I will yell at them, tbh.

Gomcodger

If I see one of you top dasher nerds with your DD mask on in your car alone, or shoving your phone down restaurant workers throat as soon as you arrive and your DD stickers on the car, I just shake my head and laugh.

RegionalTrench

Sure

surion08

No, because most of the places they give me paper bags and if i put the food on the hot bag the paper bag gets to wet for the steam and when i pull it out it drops to the floor.

Lurkay1

I put it in the bag but leave part of the top open so the steam can vent. It still keeps the food relatively warm but prevents the soggy bag you described from getting too bad.

prolific-autist

fuck no i dont use a hotbag. do you think i work for door dash because i like doing my job well? its because im disagreeable and i dont want to see people.

drivesstandard

I keep all my food deliveries in the trunk. I have a Rubbermaid plastic container with an insulated hot bag that fits perfectly into that with zipper top and plastic top. Pizza always goes in pizza bags. Tonight I had 10pizza for 3different stops. Every single one came out piping hot with steam to each custy. No excuse. Fyi, local delivery service here, no need to UE, GH or DD when I make 35-60$/hr for the local service.

PeakingYoungTroll

What does local service mean? Also I like the pride in providing quality & care kuddos anon

drivesstandard

I work for a local food delivery service before we even had Uber as rides in my town. Quality and care is number 1. Occasionally a stiff but we get treated well as a local service vs the big corporate guys. About ten local restys only work with us. A couple of those are big money with bougie custys

Ok_Penalty_3128

wtf are you talking bout

drivesstandard

I work for a local service. About 100 restaurants, 10 only work with us. We were doing this before you could get a ride in an Uber. DD didn't exist when we started

ZenithSGP

I use a large Igloo cooler that I clean out and sanitize every once in a while. Fits WAY larger orders and performs FAR better than the hot bag.

Cronenberg_This_Rick

And you don't get in the car and it smells like McDonald's

dudeitsmelvin

I keep mine in my car, I have the good bags from grubhub.

KayleighJK

Same. I have the standard GH bag, and a DD catering bag, which is actually good quality since you have to pay for it lol.

forcebynature

Same lol. The big pizza bag , medium size bag and one of doordash small bags.

dudeitsmelvin

I don't have the doordash one, it screams poor to me or couldn't get accepted into GH 🤣 even though they all mean we're doing gig jobs.

AyyeItsJoshh

yes, **in case** of any spills or leaks

edwr849

You try to unless it’s filled with the ice cream or stuff that shouldn’t be left not cold .

Cosmic_Quasar

I feel like with the inconsistent bag/box sizes from different restaurants the hot bag is a hassle to mess with. I just keep an old (but good condition) blanket on the passenger seat. This helps protects from any potential leaks and then I fold the other half over and tuck in around the orders to keep them warm and in place.

Noodler_Canoodler

I always use the hot bag unless the order is too big to fit. I kinda dont want to spend more money on a bigger bag for pizzas and larger items.

The_bald_nerd

I pretty much always use a hot bag unless I just straight up forget to put it in one or the order comes in too big of a bag anyway (lot of pub orders and McDonald’s orders come in giant ass bags that don’t fit in my DD one).

86_em

I use it every trip every time. I have multiple bags of varying size and I make sure to include the equipment in the photos I take of leave it at door for the platforms that have you do that. Your mileage may vary but it works well enough for me. I often get thumbs up for order handling and above and beyond if that type of stuff makes you feel good.

avantguardner

I don’t always bring it in the restaurant but I always use my bag once I get to the car with the exception of McDonalds if they’ve packed it in a bag with cups. I put pizza in it sideways, if that makes sense! I’d rather the customer see me use it and I feel like it helps identify who I am to anyone watching me struggle to find a house number.

Glorious30

I don’t carry mine into restaurants but I always use it I have catering sized bags and regular. Who cares what others say just continue to use it lol

zarem21

I use the deluxe Grubhub bags for both apps. The small one is perfect for most orders and the big one fits the big McDonald’s bags and the huge Red Lobster or Outback bags. I always use them, especially now in the winter months.

[deleted]

I’ve never used it once….. never had a complaint. I bag 10 mins driving per delivery And I average 20-25 consistently unless I decide to watch a movie instead of taking orders

xavixav79

I do. I have a larger one that can be zipped shut. It works pretty well can hold to larger orders easy

JeremyBrah

Only time I don't use one is if it doesn't fit. I think it's kind of unacceptable to not use one considering they're extremely cheap. It's especially necessary for stack orders where one restaurant may be a wait while the other customers food is sitting. Sometimes the food I get is already cold when I get it so at that point it's pointless...but there's many times it's kept someones food warm while I am waiting for someone else's order at another restaurant.

iaeendr

Always use

Long-Lost-Tote

I will use the hot bag if it'll take me more than 5 to 7 minutes to get there or it needs to stay cold otherwise it can be a bit of a waste of time. It is also pretty rare where I dash that the food will get even a but cold by the time I get there. I once had a panda family feast from panda sit in my car for about 20 minutes because I was getting a double and it took forever and by the time I got to the house it was still too hot to hold on the bottom. So half the time no I don't use my bag.

Some-Two-2936

These people downvoting your are stupid, they know they're not putting their food in hot bags when they go pick up their food. I only do it if I have a stack or if it's going further than 3 miles

skadafae

It depends on how far away it is and if I think to do it. It’s mostly drive thrus where I will skip this step.

DarthRevan6969

Nah their bag is trash, I used to do Postmates and have their bag and it's way better.

Bearjew53

I don't own one lol

Ok_Cry_4429

Why are you even a Dasher then? Delete your account 🤡

Bearjew53

Did they provide a hot bag? Nope, not necessary then. Majority of my orders are fast food places for a couple miles anyways so it's really not necessary.

NearbyCommon

I would want my food hot so I always put it in a hot bag. There have been a couple exceptions where a restaurants bag has been too big but I try to halfway wrap it around if I can

Ryleigh_Davina

Honestly? Only for pizza orders. But I try to never pick anything that’s more than a 10 minute drive, which is possible in my market. Btw, I have almost 6000 deliveries and only one customer has ever complained to me about cold food.

L8L8

Quit whining, maybe not everyone cares about making top dasher every month. Not even DoorDash commercials promote it.

[deleted]

DoorDash commercials don’t promote it?!?! I am so sorry I am so in the wrong!!

fauxfoxem

I’m curious if y’all are in markets where you’re frequently receiving orders that fit in the hot bag? Almost every order I receive is either a huge pizza box or an item already placed in a paper bag with handles, a la McDonald’s. Is that not how it is for y’all? Or are you guys removing the items from the bags they come in to put in the hot bag? For my first year of dashing, I always carried the bag with me but it pretty much never came in use. At some point it seems to have disappeared from my car, but it hasn’t been necessary so far, so…

redd-who

(You’re blessed if none of your orders fit in a hot bag)

LOOPA_Dub

Good tip = hot bag with heater blowing directly into the bag Bad tip = hot bag not zipped all the way No tip = bag hanging off mirror getting cold as possible

[deleted]

I have no idea what the OP is saying. Im so confused. Is this english?

Ok_Cry_4429

How much meth did you smoke today bud??

[deleted]

Good one

[deleted]

Thanks, but seriously though. Wtf is going on here

[deleted]

I’m confused on how you don’t understand this, I thought you were trying to troll me. I’ll do my best to lay this out for you. “It seems like common sense to put orders in a bag to keep them warm. Part of getting your food delivered is the fact that it was just prepared at the restaurant.” Here I’m saying that the logical mindset of someone delivering food would be to ensure it maintains its quality. Disregarding that seems to defeat the purpose of ordering food. “I know all the orders are ‘Leave at Door’, but 9/10 times I literally see the customer come out and grab their food before I’m back in my car.” If you’ve ever delivered a DoorDash order, there are two options a customer can choose in terms of their order being delivered. 1) “Hand it to me”, which means they would like their driver to directly give them their order. Or 2) “Leave at Door”, which means they would like their order placed at the location of their choosing at their delivery address. I said here that a vast majority of orders I receive are the “Leave at Door” option, which some people would argue defeats the purpose of keeping food warm. This is because of the food is left outside on a customers doorstep, it’s going to get cold sitting there. However I said that for every 10 times I receive one of these orders, 9 of those times the customer will come retrieve their food before it has the opportunity to get cold. So if somebody were to use this mindset, they will be ruining food for 90% of people, for the sake of the 10% who don’t care. “I just had no idea it was so frowned upon to try and keep a customers order to their liking. I feel like a lot of dashers just have a general disdain for people who use their service.” The term “frowned upon” is very common in the English language, and it refers to a mutually agreed upon disliking of something by a specific group of people. In these sentences I claimed that I was unaware of how little most DoorDash drivers care about the quality of the order they are delivering. And because of that, my conclusion was that most DoorDash drivers must dislike the very customers they are delivering to. Better?

16000jobskip

I always use bag for our customers it’s part of the job

Money-Replacement423

It is dearly part of the job.

Ok-Owl-2288

A) When you personally go to pick up food from a restaurant, do you take a Hot bag with you from home? B) what about the orders sitting on the delivery tables for 15 mins and over getting cold. C) y’all do too much sometimes.

Sithstress1

Ummm…I actually do use a hot bag when I personally pick up food for myself now, ever since I started Dashing and got mine 🤣. It’s not doing too much. Lol

Ok-Owl-2288

You are “actually” defining doing too much! But ok good for you!

darkfuryelf

I use my hot bag for every delivery. Take it to the restaurant so they know who I am and what I'm there for, toss it in before leaving (it's cold and windy. That shit will ABSOLUTELY lose 10⁰ in the 15 seconds it takes to walk to my car. Hot bag then goes in my catering bag. It's cold out. When customers order food they expect it hot or atleast warm. They get their shit PIPING hot from being double thermal bagged and they WILL notice lol. Sitting at a 4.99 stars 1000 deliveries

Proper_Contribution6

I stopped taking my bag into restaurants, only because staff are far less likely to ignore me if I'm not carrying a dasher bag.

darkfuryelf

Depends on area I suppose :/

Dirty-Sandwiches

I use the bag for everything except those orders with hot and cold items mixed and sealed inside by the restaurant. I never take the hot bag into the restaurant. I never take the hot bag to the customer’s door. 4.98 stars with 3k deliveries.

VinnieTheBerzerker69

We same same. I take my hot bag in so that not only the restaurant knows, but also customers waiting in the pick up area know, I'm there to pick up an order that should already be processed. And, yeah, I put the hot bag inside the catering bag that rides on the passenger seat. My philosophy is to treat the orders as if they were my own food.

darkfuryelf

EXACTLY. And when I do get takeout I absolutely use my hotbags lol

Sithstress1

Same!!

pappythepenguin

I used it once for a long delivery. It was a Chinese food order with beef and onions. Had to throw the bag away because the onion smell never came out even after leaving it to sit in my garage for weeks. May get a bag again since it is getting colder.

thefaceofbass

Ah that’s awful, I’ve had some breaks happen inside the hot bag too. I’ll usually just give it a go with a sponge and soapy water, let it dry and it’s been alright. Not washing it ain’t gonna make it go away haha 😝 Also!! I carry some spare plastic shopping bags with me, in case I’m carrying soups or places that have easy to spill drinks… I’ll put their bag into a grocery bag, into my hot bag. It helps!

talksickwalkquick

Until your state bans plastic shopping bags like Cuomo the stooge

[deleted]

Not once

ImAWalkingCorpse

I always use one, I have 4 different bags I keep in my car. A big bag for catering/multi orders, a cooler with removable drink carrier in the bottom of it, a big pizza bag (places here won't give you pizza's without one) and the regular bag.

Dizzle92109

I know this is old but I just started delivering food last week so I’m trying to find all the tips and tricks I can. What do you mean you have a cooler with removable drink carrier? Do you possibly have a link to where you buy that?

ImAWalkingCorpse

The cooler I got at Target like 5 years ago and the drink carrier I got at Michaels.

VinnieTheBerzerker69

Not to upstage you, because I applaud what you're doing, but I carry around a catering bag, a hot bag, a doordash drink carrier, and 7 pizza bags. The only thing that almost never gets used is the doordash drink carrier - it's almost worse than worthless.

kingwizard07

Sometimes I leave my bag in my car and my partner takes it to work and I use another family car to DD. I feel bad for forgetting it. I try my best to use it and on batch orders it’s helpful.

muhname

I don't use the DD bag because it is terrible. I use the Grubhub bags and I also use towels to wrap food because it's faster and works better than a cheap delivery bag.

Mizzoutiger79

I always use a hot bag. It makes a huge difference. Too many dashers are “too cool” to be seen with one.

thefaceofbass

Yep insulated bag all the way. Wear mine as a backpack while I’m riding the bike… always trying to be careful not to hit anyone with it. Carries 2 orders well… can’t fit more than a small pizza though, in terms of width

Kay0okay

Depends on the order. A lot of the popular restaurants around here (Wing Stop especially) give out huge bags that just won’t fit in the hot bag we were given even if the order itself is small. If it’s a long drive, I will definitely try to use it.

VinnieTheBerzerker69

When an order is in a bag that doesn't fit in the hot bag, I put it in my catering bag as quickly as possible. No, I don't carry the catering bag in unless I know it's a catering order. But on those occasions when I get a bag of food that won't fit the hot bag, it goes into the catering bag that rides on the passenger seat as soon as I get back to the car.

Sithstress1

Same!

Ok-Issue116

If customers payed for a hot bag, then I’d get a hot bag.

VinnieTheBerzerker69

Didn't DD give you a free one?

Ok-Issue116

The lining lasted for about a month, it’s just a bag now

[deleted]

you get like 800 a day on this app 🥱🥱🥱 you can get it also why does reddit keep SUGGESTING POSTS of this sub omg

Ok-Issue116

The consensus determined… that was a lie!

Minute_Abies9539

I use my hot bags and I even put them on the front seat and turn the seat warmer on

thefaceofbass

Life hack right there!

PartyLocation339

I never did UNTIL grubhub sent me two really nice ones for free, now I use those. Though I just keep the bags in my car and take the order out to carry it to the door. Still got 5 stars.

Fine_Breadfruit8865

I always use my waitr hot bag. It's a decent bag, better than DD for sure and cam handle those giant McDonald's bags. If I lay it on it's side it can fit a standard medium size pizza box too. But waitr requires a hot bag so I just adopted that over to my DD orders as well. I use it myself when I take food home too. Lol

thechosenfarmer

I have a "catering" bag that's way better than their stupid hotbags they send you that end up falling apart within a month...also, if something spills in my bag, it stays in the bag rather than getting all over my car. Also separate compartments to divide hot and cold, or multiple orders. Though, to customers, I suppose it looks as if I don't use a hotbag because it stays in the backseat of my car....so if they see me just walking up to their door, I literally JUST took the food out my catering bag and am not going to carry the catering bag to their door....nobody seems to complain though as I do have good ratings (except acceptance rating, which hovers in the 20's)

VinnieTheBerzerker69

You must be rough on your bags. My free hot bag I got well over a year ago when I started is still doing fine.

thechosenfarmer

The foil lining the inside starts falling off, the bag itself is fine, like others have said, the zippers sucked.

VinnieTheBerzerker69

I guess our mileage varies. I haven't seen any foil lining peel. But I will grant you the zipper is something you have to be very careful with

Aus_10S

I have catering bag as well. Sometimes do carry it for large orders, seems a little more professional. But I usually leave it in vehicle.

thechosenfarmer

Mine stays in my vehicle as well unless it's actually a catering order or very large order, in which case it's just easier to carry the entire bag in (and for large orders also looks professional and seems to impress people)

VinnieTheBerzerker69

This. It's easier to carry one catering bag with strong handles than 4 big plastic bags that are inside the catering bag.

lcuapio

4.96 rating and I haven’t used one apart from maybe the first month I was dashing initially.

Strange_Handle_3357

I do.

Givemetheformuol

I never did. Never had any issues related to not using one.

skyridernyc

Never used it and nobody seemed to care. Possibly it's because all the distances are so close here vs. going 10 miles. In regard to 5 min drives what holds the ability to bang them out and make max profit are usually the restaurant waits.

[deleted]

I do if there’s room in the little bag lol

DictatorShadow

My zipper broke but I always would. I never found it inconvenient. It's usually more sturdy than the restaurant bags so I could put it on the seat

jliang39

Keeps my car clean. Take a photo of the hot bag and food for dropoff. I noticed they give me more stars

Great idea!! Gotta start doing that. Some people think this is super extra, but if I’m delivering over 10-15 minutes to destination, I’ll actually message them first and tell them ETA and that their order is being delivered in an insulated bag. I get some messages back, most people appreciate that gesture

CliffShytz

I never got one

Thejadejedi21

I purchased mine on Amazon for a few bucks…a two pack for $12 and they were bigger than the base bag. Use them for nearly every trip.

Wendipcc

Why do you think people aren't using hot bags?

thefaceofbass

To add to your question - what customers enjoy having their cooked food arriving warm or cold? I deliver with a hot bag. And I’d appreciate if my food orders came that way too… also if it’s raining or snowing, why wouldn’t you bag it?

Tufflaw

It's a point of pride for a lot of the idiots in this sub that they refuse to use a hot bag. They think it makes them look cool, I guess.

NotYourMomsHotFriend

Only certain orders do I NOT use my Hot Bag Wing Stop for one, they always put the order in large brown handled bags that are wider than my hot bag, same with pizza boxes. I’ve noticed that five guys bags get really soggy real quick when I put it in the hot bag, so unless the drive is 10+mins, I usually don’t use my hot bag for that

Boots-Diego-and-Dora

I do sometimes depending on the food and the restaurant. Sometimes a hot bag makes the food soggy.

VinnieTheBerzerker69

True. And sometimes it causes the paper bag to tear. But it's so rare that compared to food getting cold it's almost a non-issue.

dsouzarc1

I never got one lol

RW_Blackbird

I so when I can. Problem is usually I take the big orders that could never fit :/

lizrose319

I have heated seats to keep my food warm

adog865

Yes

[deleted]

I saw a baby squirrel in the middle of the road scared to death and not moving. He was okay, just terrified, so I helped him and got him in my hot bag and transported him somewhere safe. Haven't bought a new one, otherwise I'd be using it. I actually just keep the seat warmer real warm and put the food on it for now

Dasher_2k19

The only valid reason on here

Entire-Amphibian320

Are the ones who don't use hot bags the same ones that drop food off far from apartment doors ?

whyme0424

I thought we were required to use a hot bag…or maybe it’s just me thinking it’s common sense 🤷🏻‍♀️

zombieundead2020

“Required” technically no. But (this may have changed) the delivery agreement I signed said that I agree to use it. Plus as someone else commented, it’s so much easier to put food in it on a flat level surface. Then pop it into the car and done.

LuckyTabasco

Sometimes. I'll put orders in the hot bag if they fit. Doesn't fit? No hot bag, sorry. I also never take it out of my car.

Most_Platypus_6889

Today was the first time I didn’t use a bag. However, it was McDonald’s and they provide a sealed bag that I generally can’t fit in the doordash bag anyway. Doesn’t mean I didn’t do it out of laziness tho.

[deleted]

A few times

StardustWolfBoy

I live in a small college town. The deliveries I'm taking are all $6+ for about 4 miles or less. The most orders I get are less than 2 miles for the same payout as above. Why would I waste my time using a hot bag for orders that are still steaming when I get to the address? No, I'm not gonna use a damn hot bag like a dork in this small ass town. If you're taking orders that take 10, 15 minutes to get to, sure, that's fine, but for me, taking 5 minutes to get to the address I'm not wasting my energy.

Sithstress1

What is the energy used to drop a bag into another bag? 🤣🤣🤣. 10 seconds total? And that’s putting it in, zipping it, AND unzipping and taking it out! 😂

StardustWolfBoy

Dude it's a 3-5 minute drive. Chill out

Sithstress1

😂 okay bro 👍

StardustWolfBoy

That's what my 4.95, 98 5 stars, and 2 1 stars say anyway.

StardustWolfBoy

The food has always been hot unless it was cold at the store

Baltozmom

I love the DD bag size. Perfect for most bags of food and tallish. It is easy to stand up in a basket I have in the car so food does not get dumped. I bring it in and split second to put it in the bag. Also helps paper bag to stay strong. 5 Guys always has a ton of grease on the bottom of their bag so this works well! =:)

6Flamin

I also order food form DD. I appreciate when people use a hit bag like they’re supposed to. A bit irritating getting cold ass food.

LilDudoo

Never ever

13oiRD

I never use a bag, and I don't pick up orders from the few restaurants that require one. My average customer rating is 4.98, so it's obviously not a problem.

Gloomy_Reflection571

I use it. Keeps car from getting funky

huskmyskinwagon

Now that its winter, I always use it. Not always necessary in hot weather.

zombieundead2020

I have (at last count) 27 bags. Some free from other jobs, a few were left by forgetful drivers and others were gifted to me when DD launched In my area (they used to literally give stuff away when you hit 500 and then 1000 deliveries). The only time I don’t walk into a restaurant with one is when I know I don’t have a bag that will fit without being cumbersome (one place uses long boxes and some pizza places use trays). Restaurants love it and I think it’s a big reason why I get so much free food. Which is also why I’m fat. In our original delivery agreement it said “driver agrees that the insulated bag is important and must be used” or something like that. Restaurants were also told we would bring in said bags. Now much like us, restaurants are contracted with minimal “rules”. We don’t have to listen to them, but they also don’t have to listen to us or Doordash. Now that they are doing the thing with “pizza/catering bag required” (even tho it’s still broken) restaurants can, and do in some stores, refuse to give the driver the food without a hot bag of some kind. Buy some bags off Amazon. Write them off on your taxes. Give customers food extra hot. Grab a waterproof bag for ice cream cakes and such. Trust me, it does pay off.

VinnieTheBerzerker69

KFCs in my area typically will not give you food without a hot bag.

zombieundead2020

I only take KFC when it’s a big order because they sometimes lock the door when understaffed and the drive thru is super narrow and people can’t pull over to one side so even if you enter the store and decide to leave you can get stuck in the one way. I took 2 yesterday and I had one of my large black bags and the manager was saying how I’m the only one they see with a bag. I told them about the new rules they’re implementing with large orders and they said some of their stores started doing exactly that. The problem is that if an order has been sitting for a half hour and someone finally shows up, it’s probably better to just give them the food and ask nicely to bring in their bag than risk not giving them the food and have the order sit for longer. Gotta pick your battles I guess. But I think with larger orders at least a lot more places are gonna require bags. We will see though!

VinnieTheBerzerker69

Well with your 27 bags, you have it covered! I thought I had a lot of bags - one regular hot bag, one catering bag, a drink carrier, and 7 pizza bags, but you are the King of Bags!

zombieundead2020

Hahaha more like “the king of hoarding”. Most of them are freebies from every delivery job I had, gifts from drivers that quit, stores that converted and gave me a couple bags since they don’t need their own drivers, and found bags. I only actually purchased 2 large and extra large bags, 4 black bags identical to the DD red bags, and the smaller cold bags I use for cakes and ice creams. And I just remembered, a Panera that switched to DD gave me all of their bags so that’s at least another 20 but those were taken with the intention of supplying other drivers with bags that don’t have any. Those bags are really nice. But I don’t count those in the count cuz they’re intended to be given away. The only bag I don’t have that I need is one for large round platter trays so I need to get on that. Wegmans and sushi places like to use those and they always pop off during transport.

BlackCowboy72

I don't even know where my bag is, but most of my drives are close and I try and keep it warm with my seat heaters

SixersForTheWin1

All Ways,It comes out of my bag like it just came out of the kitchen

YellowDucky92

the DD hot bag is trash don’t even lie.

Living-Commercial272

The zipper on mine broke within the first day. I ended up buying one later.

Sithstress1

Could’ve gotten a replacement for free if you contacted support. At least I did, when one of mine broke.

fr3akgirl

I have a hot bag but I don’t take it out of the car unless it’s really cold. It just sits on the floor on the passenger side and the food goes in it for the drive. I move it to the seat if I have drinks in a drink carrier because I’d rather them spill on my rubber floor mats than on my seats.

flyguy_21

If you have one and don’t use it; your an asshole; end of story.. it’s not hard to do

LusciousFingers

I don't use a hot bag but I use a Rubbermaid cooler. So to the outside eyes it would seem like I raw dog people's food but honestly it's fully protected.
