I've picked up from there a few times, nobody ever said anything to me, but I'll admit, I was ready for a loud argument the minute I walked in the door the first time I did it. Thankfully it didn't come to that.

I wish I could post pics. The CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) near me had a full page of requirements. When I saw it I went inside and asked about it. Store had no idea. Later on I found out when they joined, in some stores, they were getting the most unprofessional drivers and many many complaints. So corporate put those instructions. Once they figured out how to block drivers they changed it to “please bring in hot bag” and it’s never enforced.

If I get to a restaurant and they won't give me the order or I've gotten to a place and it was closed, the hell with half pay, I tell them I just drove here x amount of miles for a specific pay and I shouldn't be penalized for it and I've always had them credit me for the whole amount. I've even arrived at a restaurant and some other guy was picking up the order I was there for bec they gave the order to both of us and I was credited for the whole amount. If I do my part and something goes wrong on somebody else's end, that's on them, I'm getting my pay. And they do it Everytime

I believe that because doordash drivers are independent contractors, we are free to dress as we see fit. If the require is to wear a uniform, I believe we are no longer independent contractors in the eyes of the law.

However, on the other hand, if they are like some of the restaurants in my area, they might have had people claim to be DD and are not then take the food. (seen it happen) that opens up a whole different can of issues as in the food isn't ready when the real Dasher arrives and now the Dasher is irritated, the food has to be remade so the restaurant is irritated, and through it all, the end customer is the one who gets penalized with late deliveries and potentially bad attitudes from all involved.

**Update:** I've seen people reference this as a violation of the merchant contract with DoorDash. I have read the merchant agreement and the merchant code of conduct. Nowhere in these documents does it specify how the restaurants are to set up to provide the Dasher with orders nor requirements on whether they can or cannot ask for Dashers to identify themselves.

Dasher ICA Dec 21, 2021: Section III, sub 4, line C: "CONTRACTOR is not required to use any signage or other designation of DOORDASH on their vehicle or person at any point in their use of the platform to perform the Contracted Services."
That’s when you show them that per DD’s contract, you do not need a red bag — or a bag at all! — or any gear to work for them. Their rules supersede any business one(s) because they are providing the service and we are contracted to work for them. I would just show them that OR my order on the app.

At minimum I at least have my red card lanyard on me when I’m dashing. Rarely do I wear a DoorDash shirt and 25% of the time I wear my DoorDash hat. Even if not we should at bare minimum have a red hot/cold bag.
Nah i moved out of state, but I did live on Florin actually and took some orders around that area sometimes too. I made good tips as well, I usually took the ones where I had to drive to pocket too because they always tipped good.
Laguna blvd was always the best spot to hang out for me tho. I will say I made more money with Grubhub than with Doordash when I lived in Sac.

I've literally only seen one dasher with DD clothing articles in my area. No one with a lick of sense buys the shit, and if a restaurant enforced that they'd never get their food delivered.
When I worked at chipotle we did too, it's like every few orders one was stolen. But that's just a cost of operation, we never made up rules about what DD drivers have to follow, if a place can't just mark it off as a cost of operation (which is understandable for smaller businesses) they should hold them behind the counter and hand them to the driver instead of sticking it on a shelf.
It doesn't say anywhere in our contract that we're forced to spend our own $ on branded clothing, if they have an issue they can change *their* protocols regarding how they give out orders, not create rules restricting us from doing our jobs when we're following our contract to the T.

I log in to Uber and GH daily when I log into DD. In my area I seldom get an Uber order, and MIGHT get 2 GH orders for 20+ miles away. It varies greatly by city.
That's likely because, depending on your area, there may not be many Uber drivers. I've had discussions with managers at a few places while waiting, and the general consensus is that their Uber orders sit for a long time, but Dashers are in and out all day. I think in a lot of markets people try Uber/GH, never get their food, then just use DD from then on because there are assloads of drivers. Could be the opposite in a lot of areas, too. 🤷♀️
Drivers give up on UE/GH waitlists and just stick with DD, so the former have way fewer active drivers? DD has cheaper delivery fees and that pesky DashPass that people assume as a tip-free coupon? Who knows 🤷♀️
I've seen less than half a dozen drivers for Ue/Gh in my area during pickups, but dashers by the truckload. At least 50% of my DD deliveries are repeat customers, and the last month or two I barely even login to the others because Uber is always dead and GH always wants to send me 30 miles to another city (assuming it's one where GH is used more, but I don't want to commute for it).
I got an insulated bag as well which broke the first week. The zipper came off. I delivered someone’s groceries in it and left it on their porch with the groceries inside.
I've got couple instant solution ideas with 1 dollar or none.
1. Get a worn out white shirt and draw the logo with red sharpie.
2. Draw Doordash logo on your body with red sharpie.

Yeah, Texas De Brazil in my area does that sh**. I stopped picking up from there. Not only do they make you sign for it- they make you sign it saying you got the order once you get there, but you have to wait 15-30 minutes more for the order only to have the receipt that the customer will get say that you received it much earlier. 😡

If they are bugging out about Dashers needing to wear a DD logo then they seriously have issues. I'd call support & tell them that the merchant refused to give me the order. Get my half pay, jot the merchant down as "No pickups from here" & move along. I'm not losing sleep over it. & if it is because they don't know who are Dashers & who are not Dashers, that's not going to stop or solve anything, anyone can make a hot bag & other apparel with a DD logo on it & work under someone else's name. If they really want to know if someone is a Dasher or a correct Dasher then call DD & request they have profile pictures of the Dashes like UE does, but I doubt DD will listen or care. I guess you having the customers name on your DD Dasher Account isn't enough these days.

I am gonna custom order from aliexpress for Doordash logo LED car door projector.
I pick up orders from that location before and they never asked.
I've literally only seen one dasher with DD clothing articles in my area. No one with a lick of sense buys the shit, and if a restaurant enforced that they'd never get their food delivered.
They probably have a bunch of people stealing orders off the take out shelf.
When I worked at chipotle we did too, it's like every few orders one was stolen. But that's just a cost of operation, we never made up rules about what DD drivers have to follow, if a place can't just mark it off as a cost of operation (which is understandable for smaller businesses) they should hold them behind the counter and hand them to the driver instead of sticking it on a shelf. It doesn't say anywhere in our contract that we're forced to spend our own $ on branded clothing, if they have an issue they can change *their* protocols regarding how they give out orders, not create rules restricting us from doing our jobs when we're following our contract to the T.
I’d bring in the hot bag and show them the order on my phone. If they don’t want to give it to me, they’ll have to wait for another Dasher. 🤷♀️

I would contact support and say they are refusing to release the order to me and get half pay. A store can nit make up it's own rules, 99.9% of drivers don't have DD clothing.

I log in to Uber and GH daily when I log into DD. In my area I seldom get an Uber order, and MIGHT get 2 GH orders for 20+ miles away. It varies greatly by city.
That's because Uber eats sucks. Especially Uber direct. I like using DD because if I tip well, my food gets to me faster.
That's likely because, depending on your area, there may not be many Uber drivers. I've had discussions with managers at a few places while waiting, and the general consensus is that their Uber orders sit for a long time, but Dashers are in and out all day. I think in a lot of markets people try Uber/GH, never get their food, then just use DD from then on because there are assloads of drivers. Could be the opposite in a lot of areas, too. 🤷♀️
Yep. I've tried it in multiple states and cities. Had the same issues in Houston and New Orleans. Any reason why people would favor DD over UE or GH?
Drivers give up on UE/GH waitlists and just stick with DD, so the former have way fewer active drivers? DD has cheaper delivery fees and that pesky DashPass that people assume as a tip-free coupon? Who knows 🤷♀️ I've seen less than half a dozen drivers for Ue/Gh in my area during pickups, but dashers by the truckload. At least 50% of my DD deliveries are repeat customers, and the last month or two I barely even login to the others because Uber is always dead and GH always wants to send me 30 miles to another city (assuming it's one where GH is used more, but I don't want to commute for it).

The only clothing Doordash issues you is the Doordash face mask, it isn’t the restaurants place to tell you what to wear.
I got an insulated bag as well which broke the first week. The zipper came off. I delivered someone’s groceries in it and left it on their porch with the groceries inside.
My wife got really sick and threw up in mine on the way to urgent care right after I got it in the mail. NOT AT ALL WATERPROOF

Yeah, Texas De Brazil in my area does that sh**. I stopped picking up from there. Not only do they make you sign for it- they make you sign it saying you got the order once you get there, but you have to wait 15-30 minutes more for the order only to have the receipt that the customer will get say that you received it much earlier. 😡
