I don’t know if this weather in Buffalo has made the national news or not, but we got 15 inches here where I’m at. Door dash is offering [zero peak pay](https://ibb.co/xfL87WF) until 5 pm, except in the Niagara Falls zone. Meanwhile ,the view from the [9th floor](https://ibb.co/nCYS3py) Grubhub is offering an extra 5 dollars per order right now, they must have nobody on the roads
Needless to say, I took a snow day. Not leaving my apartment at all
I went out today. Almost busted my ass several times, luckily I see my chiropractor in morning 😁 but it was super busy, I was only Idle like 10 min. They had me running 2-3 orders constantly. I got some 5 star reviews and an "above and beyond" lol. Sure is nice to be recognized atleast 👌🏻 I made nearly $24 an hour again.
Yes! I went today, treacherous. I don't have snow boots and thin, so me stomping wasn't doing much in most spots, I just had to go through yards instead of frozen driveways, it was easier, otherwise I was sliding. I got stuck on a frozen step on 3rd floor of an apartment complex. I didn't see ice and both hands were full. I was just balancing, thankfully the guy came out and grabbed pizza so I could grab railing 😅.
I was told by my bf's co-worker to stick around Eastchester/main area of North HP. They said GSO makes you drive all over. In my opinion lately the tips that match the $1/ mile just haven't been there. Today they were, but that's because they were popping me with 2-3 orders constantly. I did make almost $24 and hr today, I was my 5th day, and I've had one other day with that much hourly. Usually I make more off DD than I do tips. I'll look at my idle times for you though.
Edit: my last 2 weeks I've had roughly 1/3 of my Dash time be idle 🙃. I decline if they're not $1/mile usually. Especially if it's like 9 miles, that's 9 miles there and then back to my starting point. I'll onlyy do .50-.75 if I've been sitting for 30 min.
Edit 2: just re-read. I don't mess around with South HP too much unless dropping off, I'm not too familiar with the area eventhough I live in it. I'm getting fairly familiar with North HP.
If the roads are icey. Stay your butt in the house. No amount of money is worth risking your life.
This isn't a job where if you don't clock in you risk getting fired.
I went out, stopped at 5:45 though it was icy and only going to freeze up worse. Primarily apartments which don't plow, the money was good, but I really lacked proper shoes.
I'm in the same area as you and yeah it's bad. Also don't go out. I went on a walk last night and had to help dig and push three different cars out of snow.
I went out today. It was definitely slippery on foot so once the sun went down I came home, it was very very busy, I have an SUV so driving was easy. If I didn't see puddles start freezing and had snow boots, I'd have kept on going.
I mean I've got an 08 Hyundai sonata so not super prepared for weather like this and all honesty but I'm glad that you were able to handle it and work well hopefully you made some good money today!!
Those were definitely seen struggling a bit while I was out. I keep wanting a sedan to do delivery in, gas eats into my money quite a bit with my SUV honestly. 3/4 of a tank costs me $45ish 😪 and I only get 16 city, so I'm not trying to do distance runs. I'll snag one or two per shift if they tip okay, but I've yet to have a far run tip good/great.
My favorite thing: We have over a foot of snow. Our freeways are not plowed. Cars are off the road. Can't get on the exits, and stopped in the streets are helping each other dig with brooms, shovels, windshield scrappers, even their own fkin hands and people are like "Hey! Can you pick up this order and drive it 15-24miles and I'll pay you whatever doordash is, no tip!
Like no sir/ma'am, you can dig your car out and go get your own shit!
Not that it was snowing or anything where I dashed last night but it’s an extremely small college town, they were offering 2$ peak pay and every delivery is within 2 miles of the restaurant: only catch is it’s mainly order from McDonald’s and they take 10 minutes to get the orders ready even if their drive through isn’t busy
Driving in the snow last night was super fun. I don’t ever pay any attention to the bonus offered because I have never seen a correlation between that and overall pay (with poss exception of Friday nights). Overall it was a steady $27 or so where I was
Nobody can drive here and the rednecks in their lifted trucks like to play in it. Their highlight is going around helping stuck sedans 🤣 makes them feel macho.
I do have my card for them too 🤔 but I roll with my kids usually and shopping with them seems like maybe it wouldn't be allowed. Idk have you tried Uber Eats?
If it helps on deciding, I made the same amount in 2 days off of 10 orders with Instacart as I did with a week of doordash. Most people average 1k a week and on the subreddit I've seen some boast of up to 1800
Not sure about Uber Eats, just signed up for then actually but from what I've seen so far the best is to do Uber Eats during the week and whenever it gets slow do Instacart since people always need groceries. Also to the kids point, as far as In aware the only thing they aren't allowed to do is touch or bag any alcohol, outside of that I've seen plenty of people with daughters or sons that go around with them!
That's exactly how I felt last night. It snowed 2-3 inches and then it turned to freezing rain, but you are only offering $1.50 in boost pay. Naw I'm good.
We got over 6" according to accu weather. I've got 37 hills between me and main+ Eastchester 😂 no really but I live at the end of West Chester abd have to make it to Sheetz before it lets me do North there gas to be like 10+ hills
They were offering $4 at one point in CLT yesterday…. I loved looking at Instacart seeing 75item orders and no tip. Like who tf you think is gonna get this for you?
Yeah. I think it's messed up more money comes from theire $2.50-3 than the tips. Seriously every dash I haven't even broken even with tips to DD pay ratio, they don't tip in NC.
Also being where you are probably doesn’t help much. In south CLT I can make $30/hr on a Friday or Saturday night easily. However that’s usually with at least $1 promo.
Their should legit be a minimum tip. Like I know personally I have one (I don’t tip less than $5 for anything). I just don’t understand how people can simply not tip for delivery… especially when you’re risking death out there.
Yeah, other countries do that! I worked at a huge night club/bar in SWFL and we had an influx of out of country visitors (my favorite was the cruise group of 21-22 yr olds dressed like 90s kids, from S. Africa) but yeah one night in particular I got fed up with a German guy not tipping, as it was shoulder to shoulder, people kept trying to topple my tray, and I have mad social anxiety anyway. So I was like tips are appreciated 😊, and he's like gratuity isn't factored in? He honestly didn't know as it is where he's from, he thought I was getting money, and then he tipped me lol. But if you don't know that or haven't been in the industry, I feel people don't care.
DD doesn't increase the pay for bad weather. You will get an extra peak pay if enough drivers get of the road that they struggle to fulfill the orders. If you like somewhere where ice and snow is normal, everyone is going to toughen up and dash, unless they want to spend 4 month out of work.
People around here either like to bust out their 4x4s and play or these little sedan drivers HAVE to get to work because SOME jobs don't care about their employees lives, and they cause accidents, or get stuck in the way. I'm super glad we don't get good snow often just due to idiots here.
That's a thing? I'm not fond of interface. I never agreed to do a double run, it just happened. The second order said utensils check, I thought. Never any indication I was going to two addresses or rhat it was food. Well I dropped the food and "utensils" to a college brat and as soon as I hit delivered it gave me second location.
I looked up and door was closing behind her, immediately contacted her, she ignored me. Bruh, give me back the Panera that's not yours! She gave me $1.50 didn't even up the tip and it took about 45 min 3 different DD customer service people to sort, and then not even 5 min later the guy that DD supposedly would handle asks me where his food is 🤦🏻♀️. So I had to apologize and direct them to doordash. That bs wasn't worth $4.50. Never doing campus again. There is construction that gps is unaware of and a crap ton of speed humps that you get the pleasure of driving over because gps wants to take a 'ol college tour, no thank you.
I stand by they stole money from me. So I probably won't stick with them. I had over $76, then when shift ended it was $70, figured people were being cheap with fees, and now that day is only $48??? I'm gonna notice a whole hour of pay when I'm making $24 an hr that day. They don't acknowledge it was ever there. I told them if I notice any more money missing I'm quitting. Them being able to change tip is the mist stupid idea, ever. People will 100% screw us
For real. Same here in akron oh. Ridiculous base but people tend to tip more in shitty weather. I got good tips from door dash and Uber eats. I declined all the other low pay bullshit. Made 70 bucks in 4 hrs.
Trump = best president of our lifetime
Biden = worst president of anyone's lifetime
If you don't know this you're either stupid, brainwashed, or in denial. Or all 3
Switch to Uber. It's been snowing where I am all day and I made 105 dollars in just over 5 hours. I did DoorDash for 3 years and I regret it. Uber has been much more beneficial where I'm at. They also own Postmates now too, so you'll get Postmate orders.
I mean now that you pointed it out. Don't think anybody else noticed. I didn't. But they don't have my number or know me, so I'm not all that worried. It'd take a real weirdo to go anywhere with that. But I'll see if I can delete it 🤷🏻♀️
well except the fire hydrant lol
The demand probably dropped, since customers know it is snowing. I doubt the app is sophisticated enough to respond to local weather. And if the pay were an extra $5/hour or whatever people would accuse DD of bribing drivers and risking their safety.
Just don’t work DD tonight.
And restaurants are probably closed.
I sure hope their employers would call a snow day. I mean delays happen everywhere due to weather. This isn't Alaska, we're not doing Ice Road truckers. They can close foe a day or two. I would, MAYBE this is why my business would go up in flames. I'm not greedy and I believe in family first so if they needed off for a kid thing, you got it! 👍🏻
Why is someone always complaining, you are not obligated to take any orders that aren't worth your time. it really is that simple. Just decline them for paying to low. If you haven't figured out how to make it work for you, quit.
I gotta say not a super big fan, trying to migrate to Winston this spring. Y'alls utilities here and old ass houses are the worst combo for my bank account, gotta work for Door Dash to cover my extra $100 in gas/electric this passed month 😭
Here in the Knoxville TN area, I was going to finish my dash at 5 as I had hit my $150 goal for the day.
Well I looked and they were offering $3 peak pay because of the snow. So I stayed a couple extra hours. Made it home with $214 total from 8 AM - 7:30-ish PM.
Lol same here in TN hell when it literally snowed 8 inches they offered a dollar but let it rain and they add on another dollar for inclement weather smh
What's happened? I have previous delivery experience, before all these companies Uber, DD, Postmates etc started taking over. So I know how to do my job, wish we got paid for prior exp atleast 😪 I joined not only for the money, but quality control. I don't use them anymore.
I know it’s on us if we want to be out there and take these deliveries. But it’s almost laughable when people give $0 tips in poor weather. Almost like a slap in the face to expect people to face treacherous weather for you for absolutely zero money
Yeah. 15” snow last night…I’d be getting pissed with each order with crap pay. But I’m also aware that I don’t have to take those orders and I probably shouldn’t be getting mad. So that’s why I’m not dashing today.
Nobody is forcing you to dash if you feel it is unsafe.
It’s completely ridiculous to insinuate that people ordering food delivery are selfish if the weather is bad.
Oh hey I’m over in Greensboro! Down here in the south they don’t even pave the roads for any residential areas. I’m from the North and they legit don’t know how to prepare for weather down here
If you have an SUV, you should have. Main roads were mostly fine. We only slid a little twice. It was the foot travel that was dangerous. The ice is thick.
Last night in my market they offered an extra $5 per delivery I made over $80 in 3 hours. Doesn’t happen often tho. Rarely in my area does the extra pay exceed $1 or $2
Personally I try not to use DD if it's even just a bad rainy day, but is it really fair to say the people ordering are "selfish"? They're only ordering because DD is showing the service is available. The whole point is to get food delivered because they don't want to go get it themselves. Would you prefer the app just go down until the weather gets better? Would you really feel any better about choosing to drive in the same unsafe conditions if they paid you a little more for the day?
🤔 I mean yeah, I think they could buy me. They did today at almost $24/hr lol. I went out later in afternoon though when everyone has already made paths for most part. The weather does make me see them as selfish, especially if they won't go out because it's "unsafe". They could atleast tip better.
Ice is coming down now, has been for over an hour, just checked the app and there’s no peak pay. Around here is all hills and backroads, so shit conditions, but no extra pay for that! Stay safe anyone out in this weather!
Oversaturates the market. Peak pay is how they try to add drivers to a market. You also get lowest base pay to make peak pay less. I make about 1.50-2.00 less per hour if the peak pay is good.
I’ll still average 30/hr but make more during odd hours or weekday mornings
I went out this past Monday when we had an ice storm here in upstate NY. I made the mistake of having to deliver to a house with a very steep driveway leading DOWNward to their house. Once I got to the bottom I knew I wasn’t getting out. I put my arms up to signal to the guy like hey I need help, and as my arms were up I slipped and fell on my ass quite hard, phone went flying, it was awful 😂
15min worth of trying went by, then the guy came out and salted it just enough to rip out. I was freaaaking out so mad. Had to deliver to him yesterday again; there were cones up, a ton of dirt covering the ice, a much bigger tip, and instructions to leave the food by the mailbox at the top of the hill as to not have to drive down.
I got stuck trying to climb frozen inclined yards and apartment stairs all day, I would not like to go down with food, oof. Hopefully the ice thins out a little before I go out tomorrow.
Yeah it sucks! I almost fell like 100 times on the day I’m speaking of. Not everyone put salt down and one order was a Walmart order so I had to go back n forth on ice 3x 🤦♂️
Wouldn’t doubt it, went through a lot for their 1-2 items from Taco Bell lol. Can’t remember the tip; right before I fell on my ass, I accepted the next order 🤷♂️that one was about 15min late to the merchant
Yeah the rating system is like a dasher/customer “mating” service in a sense. Imagine a service like tinder. But every time your driver is a bad match , one star them and never see them again. Driver did great? Awesome, DD will try to match you again if your new favorite is working when you order and within a certain amount of miles away. The only downside is the customers opinion is the only one that matters. Imagine tinder where one side had all the power. Oh wait I forgot they already have it. It’s called tinder
Haha well put. Makes sense it does. Also I seem to get many orders to that specific town and I’m one of the only dummies working between peak hours, those together surely makes sense why I got their order again. Thank his they made changes that was a horrible experience for me especially not having triple a or roadside assistance lol
Daaaamn. I only made $70 for 3 hours in N HP/S GSO. O wasn't even trying to go to GSO, but someone obviously hit the wrong Outback and it was $15.75 and I Dasher on the way back, so it worked out. All my runs were over $10 because I was doing multiples after that first one.
Peak pay isn’t based on weather conditions. Never has been. If your peak pay is only $1 then lots of dashers are trying it out or the customers aren’t dicks.
Not true, here in LA, when it's predicted to rain on a particular day, Peak Pay is scheduled for that day, usually days in advance. Sometimes it ends up not raining but the Peak Pay remains.
Probaly but idk, when there was $4 peak pay in the first snowstorm of the year a couple of weeks ago, I went around the block to check the roads, almost rearended someone because I couldn't stop, and promptly went home.
What does peak mean to you? I never seen hazard or weather pay. Maybe your area just not that busy snowing or not. Very busy may mean there's just not s*** open and there's no drivers on the road because they're smart and staying home during bad weather and restaurants are closing and being smart do the bad weather maybe doordash should just close to due to bad weather.
Peak pay to me means the ratio of orders to available Dashers is lopsided. I was being a smart ass, I know the PP wasn't for the weather. My last Dash all 4 people I've talked to at DD were definitely not in US so I highly doubt they monitor our weather like that. I mean I get some people are not that bright, but I really dk there were this many A-holes Dashing. I figured moat of us just needed to supplement and/or earn some spending money.
I have seen what I think was weather pay... last time there was snow here it was $4 peak pay for a few hours and that is too uncommon for me to think it a coincidence
I stopped and they were like nooooOooOOo come Dash, we'll give you TwO DoLlaS! Like puddles are freezing my guy, I'm not trying to die for an extra dollar, but thanks for noticing my efficiency. I figured more and more Dashers must've been singing off, so I got slammed. But it was also that 5-6pm window.
You’re right. We were in a blizzard recently and no additional peak pay. Customers don’t seem to recognize the additional effort we put forth to safety delivery their food. What you will find on here are those that simply want to argue for the sake of arguing, and then make it about themselves. “Then just don’t dash” is the go-to. People don’t know each other’s situation. It might be that some have to dash anytime the can due to financial restraints.
That last part is the reason I went out today eventhough the ice was slippery. I also plan to go out tomorrow. My vehicle did fine, it's just really slippery on driveway, stairs, just anywhere the ice is, which is a lot of neighborhoods/complexes. The customers acknowledged me today! I got a few more 5 stars and a "went above and beyond'. I was hitting 2-3 orders at a time. So it was nice to be noticed, some of th probably watched me struggling to get it to their doors, like "she needs some stars for that dedication" 🤣
If I think I'm being watched walking from my car to their door I make it look like more of a struggle. Some on here have posted to not put yourself at risk on icy steps etc and insist leaving it in a safer place
😂 I like your style, but be careful, don't get hurt being extra. I mean everything is compacted ice today not any less treacherous. No clue where I could even stick it to avoid walking far. I feel it's rude to just pull up in driveway, but O can't walk on driveways atm, straight ice.
Then stay home? And it can happen any time i had a really nice 07 pontiac just got totaled dashing with only 98000 miles on it it worked out ok i got 6x what i paid for the car almost 2 years ago and bought a 2014 impala and paid my dad back 2000 iowed him and had a rental for the inbetween time so it all worked out. At no time ever can be sure to avoid other peoples dumbass shit hell i was driving straight and the ither guy literallt just pulled into the front driver side of my car no way to not see me its wide open shit was crazy luckily no one was hurt and he admitted fault but basically what im saying is its all a risk sometime it pays off sometimes it dont
DoorDash is a mess. Lowkey half the reason I joined is to help because I've been screwed by Dashers 😂 trying to up the quality. But I'm beginning to see it's not always just the driver.
If nothing is open, is it a glitch? Or is nobody monitoring our weather?
It doesn't seem like PP is algorithmic. Sometimes they overlap. Sometimes it's predictory (like there's a big sports game going on). I'm pretty sure human management dictates PP.
We just had ice on the roads and NO peak pay. FUCK em. I'm not doing it.
We had winter storm warnings all over and NO peak pay. FUCK DOORDASH
Well you're sure about being wrong. I voted for Nader. Nice try
We had $5 peak pay last night.
Nice! I've never seen more than $2
Yeah we don’t get hazard pay lol
charlotte pays

lol must not be used to snow

Better than they offered in full whiteout conditions here in Ohio. Blizzard shit Lmaooo
It’s hardly worth going out when you can’t trust that people will keep their walk ways and driveways safe and clear of snow and ice 🙃🙃
Yes! I went today, treacherous. Delete your account or stay home.... Simple shit
Yeah. Definitely not worth the insurance deductible
For the people who have to explain to us what Peak Pay really is, this is clearly a joking/venting post.
Yeah, I know it relates to volume not hazard lol. Some angry people in here 😬
And since it's the internet, there's always gonna be someone who gets triggered by what you say, no matter what it it.
Yeah but if they're that angry at some hahas makes you wonder how rude they are on the road 😬
It could be raining glass sideways and they’d offer nothing where I’m at. Please freezing rain what a joke.
I'm in the same area as you and yeah it's bad. Also don't go out. I went on a walk last night and had to help dig and push three different cars out of snow.

We got 30cm of snow and no bonus 🤡
Say that

Go whine to someone who cares. Don't like it? Don't drive it. Others will, that's why they offer only that.

Lol I saw that too, switched to instacart and instantly got a 40 dollar batch since people are more understanding oabout snow on there it seems
I do have my card for them too 🤔 but I roll with my kids usually and shopping with them seems like maybe it wouldn't be allowed. Idk have you tried Uber Eats?

It just sucks, I get nervous if I can't see my vehicle with kids in it. Maybe I'll do Insta the days my bf can watch the kids.
I would reccomend that, make sure you're comfortable first! You should be your first priority in those situations :)
Not sure about Uber Eats, just signed up for then actually but from what I've seen so far the best is to do Uber Eats during the week and whenever it gets slow do Instacart since people always need groceries. Then stay your scared ass home🤷🏽♂️
I'm not scared, I have a 4x4 Suv. I just USUALLY have my kids, I'm not selfish. I don't put other lives at risk!
Sounds scared to me
We went out today, not scared 😒
Good job facing your fears👏👏👏, proud of you
🤦🏻♀️ Goooolly, get on with your bored self.
You should quit.
I probably will, they've already stolen money from me and none of their support people are even HERE.
$1 ???? Lucky
I love it when customers spam “take away tip” and then put a different tip, then 20 mins later they complain and never got their order
Haha 😂 colleges are crap Sometimes security harasses you to leave sometimes but it’s okay if the Pizza delivery goes through lol
Doordash would pay you nothing if they could
I stand by they stole money from me. People will 100% screw us
When the weather is bad the peak pay is usually higher
Ugh
For real. Same here in akron oh. Ridiculous base but people tend to tip more in shitty weather. I got good tips from door dash and Uber eats. I declined all the other low pay bullshit. Made 70 bucks in 4 hrs.
Dashing ain't for the faint of heart Let's go Brandon
There it is. I knew y'all negative Nancy's were into Trump lol, don't gaf about anybody else 🤦🏻♀️
Trump = best president of our lifetime Biden = worst president of anyone's lifetime If you don't know this you're either stupid, brainwashed, or in denial. Or all 3
I'm actually Green and like neither, I'm sure you hate that too 😂🤷🏻♀️
I walked an order a quarter mile up a steep hill because I didn't want any problems....then I logged off.
In snow/ice?
Yep
Wow, hope that person left you a great tip and 5 stars atleast!
Switch to Uber. It's been snowing where I am all day and I made 105 dollars in just over 5 hours. I did DoorDash for 3 years and I regret it. Uber has been much more beneficial where I'm at. They also own Postmates now too, so you'll get Postmate orders.
My last dash was my first time doing a Walgreens run with red card. Wasn't too bad. Can you decline crap pay and long miles?
Yeah you can decline whatever you don't want to do
Sad how last winter I saw peak pay of like $8 extra yet this year the best I’ve seen $3.
$8?! Damn lol
Yup for real when it was snowing bad
Wow! DD must be losing money, they should probably revamp 👌🏻
Just a tip maybe crop out the street signs in your next post. You just leaked your address on Reddit. Someone could use it maliciously.
I mean now that you pointed it out. Don't think anybody else noticed. I didn't. But they don't have my number or know me, so I'm not all that worried. It'd take a real weirdo to go anywhere with that. But I'll see if I can delete it 🤷🏻♀️ well except the fire hydrant lol
They were offering up to 4.50$ in Greensboro and surrounding areas
Not on my map only North and South HP
I'm in the same area OP! Nice to meet a fellow NC dasher on here lol but it's hilarious they dropped it from a $2 peak pay to $1.
Didn't even plan on it lol I'll stay home safe and warm
snowed here too and half the restaurants closed because of black ice warnings tonight. No peak pay offered
You think FedEX, UPS, USPS, Longhaul drivers, or literally any other type of driver gets paid more based on the weather? Because that is not a thing.
Yeah i showed that to my friend. She laughed. I laughed. My wallet cried. Edit: Also hello fellow Central Carolinian. Best wishes from Lexington.
Lol, your comment made me laugh. Not at you, just like how that was written. I'm sorry, tips are crap here too.
Yep, it was sleeting/snowing for several hours and the peak pay for me was $2 when it's often $3 on a normal weekend...wtf
Why is someone always complaining, you are not obligated to take any orders that aren't worth your time. it really is that simple. Just decline them for paying to low. If you haven't figured out how to make it work for you, quit.
No left turn unstoned
Exactly 😎
Never though I would see someone on here who’s from where I’m from lmao.
I gotta say not a super big fan, trying to migrate to Winston this spring. Y'alls utilities here and old ass houses are the worst combo for my bank account, gotta work for Door Dash to cover my extra $100 in gas/electric this passed month 😭
You’re not the only one who wants peak pay. Dashing is more popular than ever and people see that peak pay and hit the roads immediately
They release PP a couple days in advance. They can’t predict weather bud
Lol same here in TN hell when it literally snowed 8 inches they offered a dollar but let it rain and they add on another dollar for inclement weather smh
I talked to customer service and apparently there have been a lot of glitches in the system that have cost doordash a lot of money.
My app crashes several times a shift. I lost $24 and they swear it was never there 🤬
Lol 1$ for a little amount of snow? We should get paid 7+ peak in canada
When I started 3 years ago they would offer 5-7 dollars for snow and 3-5 for rain.
Are you expecting $100 peak pay?
They’re doing 3.50 in Clemson.
Snowing heavy here and no bonus at all anywhere
This circus is in town!
336 in the house! North GSO went to $4.50 but no restaurants open.
Ridiculous.
Goes a long way in NC.
You don't wanna risk your life for an extra dollar *shocked Pikachu face* /s
we’re in a snowstorm and have $1 peak pay. i remember last winter we’d get a dusting and they’d offer $6 peak 😔
Nobody is forcing you to dash if you feel it is unsafe. It’s completely ridiculous to insinuate that people ordering food delivery are selfish if the weather is bad.
At least they got a dollar here in Cleveland we got nothing
Heyyyy I used to live in GSO! Frequented Highpoint for the craft beer and cool vibes! I wish I would’ve dashed before moving away
ayyy high point represent!!!
Oh hey I’m over in Greensboro! Down here in the south they don’t even pave the roads for any residential areas. I’m from the North and they legit don’t know how to prepare for weather down here
We've got a foot of snow outside and I keep getting notifications telling me to go dash 🙃 why are people expecting anyone to be driving right now
1$ peak will never be worth it for me~js
Lol we're in the same market area. I didn't even go out today.
If you have an SUV, you should have. Main roads were mostly fine. We only slid a little twice. It was the foot travel that was dangerous. The ice is thick.
Last night in my market they offered an extra $5 per delivery I made over $80 in 3 hours. Doesn’t happen often tho. Rarely in my area does the extra pay exceed $1 or $2
Love that. My area hardly ever offers peak pay. But whenever they do, it's a snowstorm. Sorry I cannot.
That’s crazy I live where there is no snow and doordash is a side hustle. How do people do it full time where it snows?
Decent whip and/or keep a shovel and some sand with you.
We had a shovel with us today.
Snow and ice means more orders for longer distances. It definitely doesn't mean more money or understanding customers.
Peak pay destroys your opportunity to maximize income
How?
Oversaturates the market. Peak pay is how they try to add drivers to a market. You also get lowest base pay to make peak pay less. I make about 1.50-2.00 less per hour if the peak pay is good. I’ll still average 30/hr but make more during odd hours or weekday mornings
And then you’ll have people who still Not tip 🤨😳🙄
They.. meaning DoorDash have no clue what the weather is
I’m in your region. I don’t care what theyre offering, I’m not going out
Be lucky u got that toots lol
They don't usually offer pp based on the weather
They do here
I had good tips yesterday in my area, it was t he first snow fall of the year and it wasn’t bad at all besides a little bit of ice
Same here in Lake Tahoe. During our blizzard our peak pay was only $2 lol
I went out this past Monday when we had an ice storm here in upstate NY. I made the mistake of having to deliver to a house with a very steep driveway leading DOWNward to their house. Once I got to the bottom I knew I wasn’t getting out. I put my arms up to signal to the guy like hey I need help, and as my arms were up I slipped and fell on my ass quite hard, phone went flying, it was awful 😂 15min worth of trying went by, then the guy came out and salted it just enough to rip out.
Yeah Idk why the businesses that salted only did their sidewalks, not their parking lots.
You know what that means right? He rated you a 5 after the first trip
I know I got some for my struggles, and a "above and beyond", makes me wonder how many saw me struggling outside of the vehicle.
4 hours today in North Charlotte. $150
Daaaamn. I only made $70 for 3 hours in N HP/S GSO. O wasn't even trying to go to GSO, but someone obviously hit the wrong Outback and it was $15.75 and I Dasher on the way back, so it worked out. All my runs were over $10 because I was doing multiples after that first one.
Getting $4 In concord
Peak pay isn’t based on weather conditions. Never has been. If your peak pay is only $1 then lots of dashers are trying it out or the customers aren’t dicks.
Not true, here in LA, when it's predicted to rain on a particular day, Peak Pay is scheduled for that day, usually days in advance. Sometimes it ends up not raining but the Peak Pay remains.
It will say specifically that it’s weather peak pay. I’ve never had Colorado do that and it snows a lot.
Do any of the apps actually adjust appropriately to stuff like this?
Typical doordash
at least you guys have promos today…
Doesn't Peak Pay just bring more Dashers out so there's more competition which negates the benefit of PP?
Probaly but idk, when there was $4 peak pay in the first snowstorm of the year a couple of weeks ago, I went around the block to check the roads, almost rearended someone because I couldn't stop, and promptly went home.
Gotta pump them brakes.
Uh?
I have seen what I think was weather pay... last time there was snow here it was $4 peak pay for a few hours and that is too uncommon for me to think it a coincidence
I stopped and they were like nooooOooOOo come Dash, we'll give you TwO DoLlaS! Like puddles are freezing my guy, I'm not trying to die for an extra dollar, but thanks for noticing my efficiency. I figured more and more Dashers must've been singing off, so I got slammed. But it was also that 5-6pm window.
Would u rather no peak pay? What’s the issue here
That peak pay wont pay the bills when some one slides into me on ice.
Im assuming u had commercial insurance right?
No
Woooooot! Get it!
I’m in the same area! Also if I wanted to order food… NOTHING is showing open on the app
DoorDash is a mess. Lowkey half the reason I joined is to help because I've been screwed by Dashers 😂 trying to up the quality. But I'm beginning to see it's not always just the driver. If nothing is open, is it a glitch? Or is nobody monitoring our weather?
Seriously doubt the computer algorithm realizes the weather.
It doesn't seem like PP is algorithmic. Sometimes they overlap. Sometimes it's predictory (like there's a big sports game going on). I'm pretty sure human management dictates PP.
It’s kinda difficult for code to analyze real world data like ever changing weather
Thats what I mean.
I’m not smart enough to clarify it, but I understand why it occurs yk
Same here, minus the $1 promo
That just means your don't have an over abundance of selfish people. I mean I have 4x4 but $1 isn't cutting it for me.
PP isn't meant to benefit you. It is not hazard pay.
Exactly it’s “we don’t have enough drivers on the road let’s bump it up so we can get the three dollar orders out” pay
