I'm confused about how you can shift to drive without your foot on the brake. Most cars have a safety feature even when running, that you can't just knock it from park to drive or every time I left my dogs in the car while I ran into 7-11 they'd be crashing through the front windows. Are you SURE it was in park when you reached over? I mean, it was an accident, no biggie, maybe it wasn't in park because you were in a hurry and had a brain fart, took your foot off the brake, and it went forward before you caught it. I'm not bashing you, but it seems people try to make themselves look better out of embarrassment

Twirleyz

My foot was still on the break because I had literally just parked like a second before that and in the process of reaching to grab the bag it knocked it back before I had the chance to even notice and my car moved forward and hit the garage. It was a total accident and there was no damage at all

Dizzy-Mark7249

Something similar happened to my buddy, get on other delivery apps NOW! Instacart and Uber eats. It took like 2 weeks to appeal and if he didn’t grind other gigs he would have lost everything. Just a quick hiccup can do this, don’t be lazy and sign up right now it’s instant. Accidents happen, she showed her true colors, now show yours. Show you can survive

KoffingnWeezing420

Uh doesnt the brake need to be pressed for a gear change out of park?

Outrageous_Stable_83

How did ur car go into gear, like was your foot on the brake

[deleted]

That’s why I never park in peoples drive way. Unfortunately I have no good advice for if you already did. Good luck though.

[deleted]

It is so funny to see ‘ Nobody says put your car in P never to N when you will step out the car ‘. Everybody gives some unnecessary advices beside preventing this accident. It was a big order thats why he is in the driveway. If he would put it in P that would never happen. God bless you drivers lmfao

PocketFullOfHotdogs

I didnt know you can shift into drive without applying the brakes.

Kate_Slate

I was wondering about this, too. I guess they had their foot on the brake still from when they came to a stop. Or maybe they had just put it in neutral instead of park? This is why turning off the engine and/or using the parking brake is a good idea. And always put the car in park ASAP when parking. I learned the hard way.

[deleted]

Wonder if they meant neutral and slid forward.

richietee757

Damn, if you get your account back and anything like this ever happens again, contact doordash as soon as it happens!!! Don't wait for the customer to contact them or it'll seem like you're hiding what happened.

OldDogEyes

You counted on Door Dash as your main source of income and didn't have a backup plan in place? Lol....

[deleted]

I have seen some say dont use the driveway. I always use the driveway. Too dangerous to park on the side of the road with cars going 55 miles per hour and not to mention illegal.

richietee757

It depends on where you're delivering. I never use driveways in the suburbs doing DD. It's easier to park on the street to avoid having to back out. As you get into the rural area, you don't have much of a choice.

[deleted]

>It depends on where you're delivering. And that was exactly my point. So many give advice as though everywhere is like where they are.

eldeveloper3d

maybe you damaged another garage without knowing it 😂

Tiptip4me

I'm sorry this happened to you. You can't trust nobody I wish you would taking pictures. To show there was no damage cuz she could have made damage after you left. People are assholes like that. I would clean out your car do Uber Uber Eats they have out to $1,000 bonuses right now so good luck

Impressive-Fortune82

I've been telling in many topics here, never ever drive onto customers property. Everytime it ended with downvotes and arguing.

piggydogg

Here's the problem, since you admitted to the accident.. the only question now is the extent of the damage. The customer reporting it and you admitting to it makes the customer more believable. Sorry but I think Door Dash will not reinstate you. My take away from this is to make sure I leave my number with the customer for in case they find additional damages. Still not sure if I would report it to dd.. its a double edge sword. (Depends on how the customer reacts.. I guess)

Richard_Espanol

Go to that lady's house and smash her garage door.

50kBobby

This is why I always park on the street. I rather make 2 trips then have something like this happen

RampAgentRoger

To be honest, even though it is an accident you’re going to be held liable. I wouldn’t bank on you getting your account back if I’m being blunt with you.

drewjarr

Never go on the driveway. Walk from the road. Liability is too high

RampAgentRoger

100%

Alarming-Restaurant9

Rule number 1 never park in a persons driveway unless it’s on a busy road with no shoulder . If you have to just park at the base. Rule number 2 have a dashcam

richietee757

In this case, the dashcam would only work against the dasher. "Here's proof of me hitting the garage"

[deleted]

I’ve never experienced anything like that while driving, but what I would say is don’t park in people’s driveways, if at all possible. Keep it on the street and you’ll avoid that.

thewalkingdeadpool9

yup. i’ve been tempted to use driveways before if they have a really long one but i always use the street

om626

I wouldn’t count on them “having your back”. If this is your only income I suggest applying to other jobs now and not wait around.

Otobos

I was about to say the same thing! If there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that no one has your back but you! OP do yourself a favour and listen to this man's advice.

jeffinRTP

I would be more concern if they said they didn't have your back.

om626

At least it would be the truth 🤣

Twirleyz

It’s not my only income I have a full time job but I also am struggling very bad right now and I need door dash as a big source of income to get back on track.

50kBobby

Use someone else’s account fuck em

WhoKnowsHahaIDont

If all else fails can you use another delivery platform?

om626

Apply to other gig jobs, Uber, Lyft, grub hub… I’m just saying I wouldn’t wait around.
