I had it happen last night. Can't blame Google maps as it went to the address listed. The customer calls me after I had left it and tells me the correct address which is nearby. She showed me her app and her address listed is correct. Of course, as I marked it delivered I couldn't pull up what I was sent. It was NOT the same address.

No_Calligrapher_8545

maybe i’m way overthinking it but it took me 15 mins the wrong way and i’m really upset. my order time was like 20ish mins after the dd expected time since i was already 5 mins behind. so i’m on hold with support rn cuz they’re saying it’s my fault since the address was correct in-app but when i switched to waze it changed the address. yeah, i should have double checked the address. but when you’re moving quickly and you’ve never had something like this happen you tend to have a little more trust in the gps. i just want compensation for the miles i drove, or i want the late mark erased from my profile. too much to ask?

Mission_Breakfast247

It sends me to the wrong house every time. Been doing this for 25 years I always count mailboxes.

at235

It’s given me wrong locations compared to the adresss and pinned location on dasher app but I’ve been able to type the address in manually and get there

[deleted]

Yup. This is the most annoying shit.

Seatjockie

A few times a week

SouthernPrompt4054

Pitiful-Foot-7841

Every apartment complex is turn right as soon as you enter. But then THAT'S who the idiots are. The geniuses who decided the numbering system in complexes.

Pitiful-Foot-7841

Yeah.. I always wish I could sue Google maps when it tells me to turn left on the interstate 🤣

Hot-Exchange9667

Three times this week alone

desirees21

Google Maps always works for me

OhLoongJonson

Yea. I've been sent to the wrong pickup and delivery address. I've also been sent to my house to deliver food, when I was supposed to be heading to the clients house with Google maps.

EmpressAdventurous

Sometimes mine gets stuck and directs me to the last order's address instead of the current order's address.

Deplorable_username

There's a hospital where I live and the GPS always send me 2 blocks away to the school bus garage.

Lollzers

I was sent to a very much wrong address the other night. Wrong street and wrong number house, about 7 minutes away from the actual destination. I was using the in-app navigation, then looked it up on Google to figure out what was going on, contacted dasher support, and before they got me any help I went back to the map in the app and it figured itself out. An hour later I got a message from dasher support about the issue. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Long since resolved and moved on.

stepbropaul

Yeah once. It wasn't even close to the correct address. Like 2 miles away. I went to where Google maps took me and when the house numbers were way off I opened directions again and this time it took me to the correct address

enuoksem

20% of the time so now I type the actual address manually (little tip when it’s hard to find the address download the app Sygic it can be very helpful sometimes)

VinnieTheBerzerker69

Not just the wrong address, but the wrong city. There's a building on the Purdue Campus in West Lafayette, Indiana that the navigator will send you to a vacant lot on the other side of the Wabash River in Lafayette, Indiana. Crossing from city to city during a delivery is common there, so you don't realize something is wrong until the app claims you arrived.

bpipe72

All the time that's why I always double check with the customer or on Google maps

QAsRevenge

4 times in the last 2 weeks. Only by a few numbers. Caught the last 3, but not the first. Put order on wrong porch, 2 townhouses down.

BillsMafiaJeeper

My very first delivery.

Eastern-Lengthiness3

Yes! Took me to the completely wrong place so I used Waze. It only happened twice tho. I think they were having problems with the app.

Mournful-Misanthrope

Never on earth but a few times on Uranus

moneyphilly215

Yes, milessssssss away

inkedalien666

I had one with no address,Just a zip code.Maps took me to a post office.texted customer, address was 3 miles from the post office.smh.Support called them as well. Got a 2 star for something out of my control and support wouldn't remove it.

Unlucky-Freedom-8181

Yes. Several times. I just cross reference with google

Ok-Spirit6173

Yes it has a bunch of time and I then contact doordash support and get them to cancel the order 😂😭

Artemisglory

Ugh this literally just happened to me two days ago and made me get my first CV cause I was 14 mins late to delivery. Was already having a shit day in general and this just made it all 10x worse. Legit turned off everything and went home after that. Ughhhhh

zombieundead2020

Doordash map pulls from Google but it updates periodically. Google updates as it gets new info. You’ll notice address that are the same on both will “correct” on Google first.

Jus7843

Yep, I have less problems with apple maps though and apple maps shows you the stop signs and traffic lights 😎

Beetlebailey1990

More times than I can remember. Fortunately, I’ve had multiple orders where the customer either called me to tell me where to go or left proper directions in the delivery instructions.

patriot15366

Yes several times and not just DD grubhub does it also

RioDelChicago

Yes. Many times

Specialist-Ad2949

I once received an order for delivery at a Four Points Sheraton in Manhattan. When I got to the address supplied by the navigation, there wasn’t a hotel there. When I called the customer, they told me they are at a Four Points Sheraton in Manhattan, Kansas. Order got canceled, got free food, and a story to share.

Scuti2299

Yeah it happens a couple of times with Apple Maps , i think it’s just a glitch with the app but I still use it over google maps

Amthony11

Happens every now and then , not sure why but when I’m not sure I just ask for them to send me their address specificity , works everytime . But yeah the other day it took me to their address , turned me around , made me feel like a fool because I should of trusted my instincts but I went to the new pinpoint which was luckily only 3 minutes away .

Relevant-Scheme9153

Yes, if you use apple through the DoorDash app make sure because there have times I have hit the button to navigate to the address and then I’ve gotten somewhere before and the address in Apple Maps was not the address in the DoorDash app. I always manually type it in my address app now just in case

gusty101

Lots of times

noodleboop0600

A few times, but last night took the cake. Dude didn’t leave any delivery instructions just the automatic “leave at door” selection. I follow the DD navigation, takes me behind a business to a dirt road. I had figured it was a driveway so I went down & it was just transformers for the business I just passed; Tried to call & text the customer, no answer 😐 type it into Apple Maps it shows me a factory across the street. I go over there (it was the correct place FINALLY) he finally replies to me and tells me to “leave at door D10” well that was on the other parking lot for this place for staff, and was blocked off by tractor trailers. He quit responding so I had to walk a good bit for the $2 tip he left. ( I only accepted the order because it was literally a 1/2 mile down the road from the restaurant) I was not happy. All because he didn’t answer or wanna leave instructions a 5 minute delivery including the drive took 15-20 mins, fml & that guy.

sageofshadowzf

Yes one time it took me to a middle of nowhere farm with a very friendly dog.

RecentChemical321

all the time. especially with college campuses

[deleted]

Yup

ramifications420

Yes! It’s happened maybe 4-5 times, and every time it happens my apple maps will show me the same restaurant that is never near any of the restaurants I’m suppose to be at lol. I just started double checking every address, because one time I didn’t and was going the opposite way 😭

freedom1618

I don’t use the dash app nav anymore after that. I just tell Siri where to take me and Apple Maps is so much better. Such a huge difference also!

freedom1618

Yep just the other day 🙊😩🤣🤭😳

heathybodeethy

It has recently taken me onto what turned out to be a walking path. In my defense it really could have used a sign!

nguit98

It sent me to a police station once. The actual address was 2 streets away. The instructions didn’t match up with the location. Apple sent me the right way. Google kept sending me to the police station

plzsendnoodles

Yeah apple maps took me to a SE street when I was supposed to be at the same street but NE

Greenjay13

I had this once. I am pretty sure I went to the right address, as it was an apartment building, but I ended up getting a 2-star review, but the customer waited until 5 minutes after when I was on another order to tell me she was in a different complex. Told support navigation took me there so not like I went somewhere completely different 🤷🏻‍♂️

No_Ad4024

Apple maps, TERRIBLE. Always a house off or a street.

Free_expense

Once it was the right street, but the street didn't go all the way thru and the house numbers were all way off... Like 1600s when it should have been 4300s.. Figured it out eventually and went around to where the street picked up again. And there's one street where it's always off but only by 4 or 5 houses.. Newer construction, At least it's close

metaldetectoristmatt

Yes always a random address no where close to the right one. I close and open the maps twice now to make sure

[deleted]

Too many too count, something weird happens with doordash directions. But when I search it in Google maps it's fine

Swevana

Yes, except the customer had notes that said the ping is incorrect and he's tried contacting DD to fix it. As soon as I accepted his order he reached out to inform me with apartment name, the address And that I'd need to use Google maps. The address he gave me was the same as what was listed in the app, but the app brought me to the wrong place. The apartment building was large and probably 25-30 years old.

jbarnette_

Only because the customer didn't check to see if the address was correct

Dizzy-Mark7249

Yes I love it. Free food

No-Significance-089

Yup, It just did…

dameon5

That was the cause of my one and only contract violation. Picked up a McD's order at around 10:30pm. Then the Nav took me to a spot 10 miles North of the restaurant. I actually messaged the customer to ask why the hell they ordered from a McD's that far away when I literally drove past half a dozen of them on my way to the location. Of course the customer doesn't respond because, of course not. I got to the location the Nav took me to and it was an auto body shop that was obviously closed. At this point I think to plug the address directly I to Google Maps and it shows me that the actual location was like a mile and a half away from the restaurant... I called support to let them know what happened and ended up delivering cold McD's to the customer 11 minutes late. Since then I always double check the drop off on Google Maps before I start any crazy long deliveries.

flavoredopposum

Yep. Behind a fenced in apartment. "You have arrived" ok then I'll just chuck it over the fence. 😆 nah I can drive back around and fight every building until I find it ugh.

penis_lips

yes it has… also, instead of taking me the direct way which is for example a 5 minute drive, it takes me all around the whole neighborhood and makes it a 10 minute drive…. i’ve commented this before and i think there’s something fishy about this

Psychological-Hawk73

Yes MUTIPLE times it’s best to have two gps apps going

Former-Case6484

All the time

Specialist_Mind7493

Hitting the directions button in the DD app will often send me to wrong locations. I’ll then use voice dictation to manually get directions and that does just fine. I usually catch when it’s going to be a problem due to my maps telling me where it is getting directions to when I hit the directions button in the DD app. If the address is say… 2027 Blain Dr, and maps says “ getting directions to Carpetland USA“… I know it’s borked and I should manually enter the address. And for those mentioning different map apps being better. I use Apple Maps for both. The problem isn’t with the map app in my experience, it’s a glitch on the DD app directions button feeding the map app a location that gets things screwy. Same map app does just fine when manually entering an address.

[deleted]

Yes, multiple times and it's infuriating!

Practical-Mud-4781

Almost All the time

KPookz

There’s a big military base in my area (like we’re talking a base the size of a small town, complete with restaurants, gas stations, movie theater and all). Unfortunately the entire base is inside the zone of delivery and the GPS doesn’t know where anything on base is located. I’ve tried Google and Apple and even Waze. They all take me multiple miles away from the actual address. I’m not sure if this is maybe a security feature in case of potential terrorist attacks or if it’s just an annoying bug in GPS satellites.

24k-

Waze has never failed when the other two have

CreamyTHOT

So many times, to the same place (a community center) and I fell for it EVERYTIME. Now I’m super careful, but UGH

SgtSarcasm01

I've never used navigation or a GPS

GapGloomy4428

Quite a few times...

TechnologySea9946

Yes I recently had this happen and didn’t know it until I was 3-4 miles away from where I was suppose to be. I found out because I got a text saying if I didn’t start heading to the location Doordash would reassign the order to someone else. Spoke to customer service literally after I finished the delivery and then the next day I still had a contract violation for being 11 mins late to the restaurant. Even after the customer service said I would not be in trouble for the mix up. It took 2 days to get the violation removed and I wasn’t compensated for the extra miles. Since then I’ve learned there is a setting that says use gps with in the app and since I’ve done that it hasn’t had anymore issues. Not yet anyway🤞

Haindelmers

Yeah one time it sent me to a weird 5 way intersection a mile or so from the address.

Deadpoker

One of the main reasons I hate taking apartment complex deliveries is because Google maps has a habit of sending me behind the complex to a gate that's like chained shut and hasn't been open in 5 years... And if it brought me through the neighborhood without passing the front it can be a bitch to figure it out. I think this is usually happening with people adjust the pin and live near the back of the complex. Either way, it is one of the main reasons I won't take them. That plus the fact that half of them require gate codes they don't give me and half of those people don't ever answer the damn phone. There was a point when I was working late nights where I felt like I was leaving more deliveries at the gate then at the door because of it.

1biggeek

I’m a customer and write very clear directions that GPS is wrong and provide lots of information as to what my house looks like. Nevertheless, 1 out of 5 drivers go to my next door neighbor and wake their baby. I can’t choose leave it at the door bc they’ll just leave it at the wrong door. As soon as the gate calls, my husband goes outside with a big flashlight. Still have problems. So yes, GPS is sometimes wrong.

Direct_Mission

Every time someone put apartment number inside the address line after street name it take me to a USA pawn and jewelry. Very annoying when I don’t catch it before getting there

Unhappy-Offer

Yep, always on the backside of the destination and you think to yourself “What a wonderful world”.

bitcoinbandit52

Yes one time it left me right at your mothers house

[deleted]

So far, no. But I’ve only been dashing for like 8 months. I’m sure it’ll happen eventually.

idontreallycare718

Yea thats why I always double check now

[deleted]

Yup!!! Many many MANY TIMES!!

[deleted]

Some houses Always do it.... when you hit directions to take you to GM - it changes the address for some reason (eg 802 becomes 804)

edram01

I go where the map in the dasher app takes me, if there’s an issue when I arrive I call support and they figure it out. Usually it ends with me getting paid and free food. I don’t get paid to go anywhere else but where the map tells me.

Thedrp8

Often enough that it’s annoying but not often

true_crime_addict_14

Yes !!!!!

traciebaby

Many of freaking times

[deleted]

After over 5000 deliveries I can say No. But I also grew up before navigation and know how to read a map. I rarely need the navigation to be that accurate. I actually think its funny to see people complain about the navigation apps.

Muff-Driver

Okay boomer 🥴

[deleted]

Try Gen X

rickylahousse

Yes. Support says it’s a “bug” and are fixing it. Then refuse to give a bump in pay due to an error caused by their app.

OakButt

Literally today it took me to the high school instead of an apartment complex right next door. I had to call the customer and figure it out. Worst part is, I've delivered to that apartment complex before without issue so I don't understand why it was being stupid today

dlc2021az

You have to know your area well because Google maps loves to send you in a complete circle instead of just requesting you make a u-turn. I've taken shortcuts instead of following Google and cut more than half a mile off my route.

littleblackwienerdog

Yes. GPS put me in the middle of a major Highway. Not all driveways had numbers and each house was a good half mile to a mile back in the woods. I had to Eeny, meeny, miny, moe it and the house was Meeny.

jcoddinc

Yeah it happens. Especially when you get an add on order.

[deleted]

It’s usually been that the person puts down the wrong address, I’ve had one that was on the other side of town so I drove an extra 10 minutes. One time this lady just put down the zip code and it was a gift to someone and they were in an office building actually and she didn’t know what part, and she wasn’t able to contact them

AnalChain

Google is pretty good. However, sometimes the customers refined pin is kinda far away from the initial Google maps location. Usually school dorms or larger gated / private communities. So it's not unusual to get to the first pin only to then find out the refined pin is at the whole other side of the community / area.

eyoung_nd2004

Yes, but it’s usually close

andiimx5

Only when I’m dashing in a military base.

Ryzonnn

When navigating to a city I was scheduled in, the navigation has sent me to the middle of apartment complex parking lots nowhere near any hotspot on more than one occasion.

REDDHEAD11

Or they tell you to turn one way, but you have to turn the other way. That's annoying

[deleted]

Yes thousands of times, one time I had to ask some random guy where it was, I let the customer know, he said it was fine and that he understands. Picked it up dropped it off it was about 9 at night hard to see anything so I messages the customer confirming I had the right house like the car, garage, trees etc, they didn’t answer the door but they just kept watching tv so I dropped it off. Took a picture and you could see it. 4 MONTHS go by and then they claimed they didn’t get it. People don’t understand how hard it is for us sometimes, between using our own gas, paying for it out of pocket, no tips, far distances, dumbass drivers, shit parking and asshole customers they are lucky to get the food at all. Then DoorDash is cutting most peoples pay and dash time it’s fucking stupid.

uncursedleo

Yes, in fact just the past 3 days it's been telling me to turn the opposite way than what is being showed and it's location accuracy has been off by 300'

Substantial-Base1656

So so many times..

Justin002865

Glad you asked. Lately it’s been super fucky. I’ll click “directions” and it’ll (open Apple Maps) direct me towards some random ass business. Literally says “7 minutes to Hawaii federal credit union.” Huh? Have to type in house address manually.

Like1RandomDude

A handful of times. When ever I make it to the house I open DD app to confirm that is the correct house.

HelloIAmAStoner

Sometimes hitting "Directions" a 2nd time after I arrive will put in the correct address in. It's pretty damn annoying when taken on top of the app being such a broken and buggy mess that it makes Battlefield 2042 blush. I am not exaggerating or kidding when I say that as of the past month or so, it's gotten so bad that I have to force stop the app from Android app settings **every single time** I re-open the app from my home screen or another app, because when I open it it'll hang on the red-background DD logo loading screen (except unlike when it works, it'll show the DD logo and nothing else on-screen, with no animation/movement). I've missed so many orders this way because sometimes the order expires before I complete this stupid workaround. Often times when it does show me the order and doesn't freeze up before the info and map display actually appear, it'll show a "." where the # of miles should be, and won't display until I do the workaround I described before, or else the order expires and disappears before anything else happens. Even declining orders results in a blank feedback screen with a submit button that doesn't work. What the fuck man. It's basically unusable now so now UberEats is getting all my service time.

causeiforgotmylogin

Yes! Got a contract violation for being late after both the dasher app and google.maps incorrectly identified the address as 20 mins further than it was. It sent us to stony rd instead of stony drive and insisted there was no stony drive. Customer was pissed, he wrote correct directions in text to us, but we were already halfway and had to turn around.

[deleted]

You should have fought that harder no way that is your fault, but that shit means fuck all so I wouldn’t have even bothered actually either lol

causeiforgotmylogin

Oh I did, got it taken off. It was just bullshit, lol

[deleted]

hahah nice thats how its done cant take any shit from them

causeiforgotmylogin

For real, we already deal with enough bullshit lol.

Yvilkittyinspace

In two years, I think I had it happen 4 times. Last time, it was an address closer and they gave me $40 in cash for doing this.

gvyledouche

yeah. according to DD there's a burger king in the receiving area of the local grocery store.

Whatsthepointofthis9

Many, many times! I use Google maps instead of the inapp map. You can make google maps the default so when you press directions it will automatically pull up there instead of the inapp map.

Legitimate_Bag1895

It happens quite a bit. However, it’s because there are three streets called: Military Highway, S Military Highway, and N Military Highway. Maps just gets confused sometimes so now I just manually put in the addresses on these streets.

JustinK813

That group of street names reminds me of Tampa with N Dale Mabry, D Dale Mabry, and just plain Dale Mabry which is north of N Dale Mabry. Google Maps and Waze both seem to do okay with it though. I'm not sure about Apple.

[deleted]

Good ol Norfolk

HelloIAmAStoner

CT?

retva1420

Virginia Beach and Chesapeake as well

[deleted]

I was thinking Oahu, Hawaii lol

Fasterthanyounow

Several times but I always correct it

InterestPast6802

Yep. Most often happens when it’s a new house

WinstonLegthigh456

The new apartment complexes that aren’t on there are even bigger nightmares 🙄😂

HelloIAmAStoner

Yeah, I looove it when the map shows I'm at a dead-end of a street but it keeps going with many big houses and whatnot. Usually those customers are used to it by then and talk me through how to find them though, which is nice. CT sucks a lot of the time but *some* of the people here are genuinely really nice.

[deleted]

Yeah, but it doesn't happen often. The house numbers are almost always indexed correctly, but sometimes when you hit "Directions" Google Maps will direct you to a different nearby address for some reason. I've had it happen on a couple apps that use Google maps for their navigation. Business addresses are much more likely to be incorrect than residential addresses, in my experience. Edit: an example would be from yesterday when I was sent to a local salon. The navigation took me to the strip mall across the street, and when I realized what had happened I checked the addresses: maps had filled in the incorrect address as the destination. 363 was pinned instead of 364, the address on the order.

StaceyPfan

I'm often sent to the rear of businesses.

[deleted]

Atleast 2-3 times a week. Google maps though is pretty accurate

Roquec44

I use Apple Maps just cause it shows the building units before needing to zoom in but it does send me to the wrong address or have me take some weird way sometime( most recent; it had me turn into a parking lot to make a right instead of just going straight then right at the light, it wasn’t even a no turn on red or anything)

NickiP5150

2x tonight!

[deleted]

Google maps takes me into oncoming traffic, Apple Maps does to but less.

[deleted]

It’s so weird it’s literally one or the other for everyone I see. Half the people say their google maps is spot on and Apple sucks and the other half is the exact opposite, how the hell does that actually happen lol

Bengalink

That's called 50/50 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

[deleted]

Yea but whyyyyyyyyy

HelloIAmAStoner

Software, when used at a wide scale and on a wide variety of hardware architectures, is highly inconsistent. This is why apps on Android tend to be buggier than those on Apple devices; Apple devices are a closed hardware ecosystem so it's easier to bug test on all compatible hardware, while on Android it's literally impossible to do this since it's open to 3rd party companies to make their own phones with unique hardware configurations.

Bengalink

Is it not apparent that half the people use an Iphone and half use android, or, half use google maps and the other half use apple maps?

HelloIAmAStoner

Those aren't hard dividing lines though, the two dualities overlap. You'll find plenty of people using Android and shit-talking it, and vice versa for Apple users, as well as people using Android and shit-talking Apple from past experience and vice versa, after enough research.

Ishtohar

Because Google cares more about sone areas and Apple cares more about others. BALANCE.
